J.Crew Updates Website with New Arrivals!

"Thanks!" to many of you, including GigiOfCa & JRSConifer (in this post), who let us know that J.Crew had an update to its website (click here to view online). There are over 200 new arrivals on the website!

There are some new arrivals for men (click here) & women (click here). {wahoo!} It looks like Crewcuts (click here) has been updated, but not the J.Crew Collection (click here).

The May catalog (click here to view) is still available to view. However, the new June catalog (with Liya Kebede on location in Tanzania) is not up yet.  This catalog will probably be available online in another week or two.

In the meantime, J.Crew is sending out the newest catalog to customers (and available at many J.Crew stores).
Plus, J.Crew is running a new stacked promotion: $30 off $150+, $50 off $200+, and $75 off $250+ with promotional code SHOPNOW. This offer expires Sunday, May 26, 2013. The fine print includes:
*$30 discount valid on purchases of $150 or more before taxes are added. $50 discount valid on purchases of $200 or more before taxes are added. $75 discount valid on purchases of $250 or more before taxes are added. Valid in the U.S. and Canada only. Terms of offer are subject to change.
There's more! J.Crew is offering $5 shipping with free returns. This offer expires June 18, 2013. The fine print includes:
FOR A LIMITED TIME: Enjoy $5 shipping & free returns. Flat-rate shipping and free returns valid on purchases made at jcrew.com or by phone from May 22, 2013, through June 18, 2013. Offer valid for shipments to the U.S. only. Offer cannot be applied to previous purchases or the purchase of gift cards and cannot be redeemed for cash. Flat-rate shipping applied automatically at checkout. Orders will be shipped via regular ground shipping (3 to 6 business days) and return requests must be made in accordance with our return policy. Terms of offer are subject to change.
As many of you have noticed when flipping through the June catalog, J.Crew is really digging through their past archives... Why? Because a lot of older prints are resurfacing.

The latest roll-out includes the Ratti Regatta Short (item 68384; $98.00) which J.Crew shares: "Straight from the storied archives of Italy's Ratti print house (our go-to source for one-of-a-kind prints), this sunny sailboat motif first popped up in our summer '06 collection." I remember this print from 2006 (and I believe it was on a full shaped skirt.)

The Sale Section (click here to shop online) had a decent update this morning for Women (930+ items) and Men (360+). There are a number of older (somewhat random) pop-backs.

What items are you most excited about and why? Which items are you surprised (or not surprised) to see? Which items did you hope would be included? Were you expecting a bigger roll-out today? Also, did you receive the latest catalog? :)

  1. Yay for new arrivals and another promotion! The tiered promos are not really my favorite kind, but I do appreciate that J.Crew is offering another deal to go along with the new arrivals. :)

Btw, lots of new promo-priced items today, as well as some new markdowns too. The markdowns include the merino tippi in stripe monarch, collection silk crepe de chine skirt in shoe sketch, and bouclé jacket in colorblock. I'm working on the list right now and will have it up on my blog a little later this morning.

  2. I have been waiting for the Suncation Dress since Fashion Week!

  3. I just posted pics of the Regatti print tank and the anchor sweatshirt (as well as the not-as-new Scalloped Dress) this morning here. Both are super cute!

  4. I was mostly interested in the shoes (since I bought a few things in store with the LOOK20 promo), so I appreciate the new tiered promo.
I lime the linen island tee but it could be too similar to the postcard tank from a few season ago, I have to see in person.
The Bahia top fits beautifully IRL (if a smidge small on the shoulders).

  5. Can't wait to check everything out! I received a link for the factory new arrivals this morning, they've got a lot of things marked down "up to 40%. Thinking the 10% and 20% promo coupon might come in handy now! Not sure if you need "Factory First" to access but link here. Will report back once I've had time to gather my thoughts!

  6. I love the Roller Girl dress...it's totally unlike anything I have! Any IRL pics out there yet?

I also love the No 2 pencil skirt in polka dot jacquard. That might be a must-have for me, especially since I've been looking for a decent navy/white polka dot pencil skirt for a while now.

    2. Thanks audreybella and shopwithm! I now remember reading those reviews. Hoping I'll be able to try it on this weekend.

    3. shopwithm: The link to your review of the roller girl dress isn't working. Did you find it to be too short?

      Delete
    4. I tried this dress on a week or so ago. It gapped terribly around the bust. I have a curvier build, but I wouldn't say my bust line is exceptionally big. Also, no matter how big of a size I got, it continued to gap. It's adorable in person, so if it works for you I'll be pretty jealous:)

    5. Fabulous Florida Mommy: when you click on shopwithm's link, just delete the extra " at the end of the URL and it'll work :)

      Delete
    6. Oops, sorry about the link, thanks AppGal!

The dress was above the knee for sure, but it wasn't crazy short. I think that might balance out the more modest neckline. That said, maybe I'd like an extra inch on it.

      Delete
    7. I tried the roller girl dress on a few weeks ago. See my review here. I found the dress TTS but didn't like the super high neckline.

    8. I just tried on the roller girl dress and it fit well. For you tall ladies out there, like myself, there is an ample 2 inches on hem and it would be super easy to alter it, even with limited sewing skills. I hesitated to buy it because the whole dress was lined, and here in the south that defeats the purpose of a summer dress. I think the fabric is thick enough that the lining isn't even necessary. It was very cute on.

    9. Thank you for the reviews on the roller girl dress everyone! It sounds like it's worth a try. Perhaps the length will work out for me after all. :)

  7. AppGal-I tried it on. Gigi might have too. It runs small, IMO.

  8. I see a lot of lovely items, but nothing that I have to have at full price (even with the promo).

The sunset print is very pretty and I could see a lot of ladies rocking it well. I also love the regatta print, it reminds me of the school of fish print from a few years ago (there was a green dress with fish everywhere--just like these sailboats).

That said, I did find a couple of "sneak peek" items at the factory site that I am willing to try with the 40% off--the poppy print skirt, the cotton sateen pencil skirt in the succulent green color and two darling pieces for my daughter. The four pieces total are about the cost of a tee and a pair of shorts over at regular J. Crew, so I guess what I am saying is that I can't buy from J. Crew as much anymore since their fp prices (even with a discount) are out of my budget.

Factory pieces can be hits, but I try to stay with the items made with cotton since I know the pieces made by them from cotton hold up well (have many factory items still going strong in my wardrobe).

    1. Dina, the poppy print skirt is nice. It ran a little bigger than the other factory mini I have, I was able to get my normal size 6. I also like the length, short, but not too! I hope you like it too!

      Delete
    2. Hi! Agh! I bought it one size too big so I could get extra length. LOL. Maybe I will take it in, or if worse comes to worse, just hope it doesn't sell out so I can exchange it if it runs way too big. :)

I am excited to get it, though, and the $35 seems pretty reasonable...

      Delete
    3. I am thinking that with your excellent sewing skills, you should be able to take it in if necessary! Yeah, I think $35 is reasonable too. That is also what I paid in store last week. Such a deal for such a cute print!

    4. I have that green dress with the fish. It looks like new and has worn well. I love it still to this day. So classic.

      Delete
    5. The Poppy print min is on my list, too. Love that print.

      Delete
    6. Count me in the Poppy print mini love fest - just not sure about the length.

    7. Yes, wish that Poppy print was done in a pencil skirt. I'd be all over that.

      Delete
    8. There's also a scarf in the poppy print I'm going to try. Looks more orange than red in the photo, but at $20 it's pretty low risk. Also trying the $11 phone case in this print.

      Delete
    9. ElizabethM, the scarf is a bit more washed out IRL than the skirt. It's still cute, though! I am also tempted by it.

      Delete
    10. Thanks, J.CrewJD. It definitely looks that way. Hopefully, it will turn out to be an acceptable substitute. Still so sad I missed out on the real deal last year. I absolutely love the true red on the original. Guess maybe I should start posting on the "looking to find" thread to see if anyone is willing to part with it yet!

    11. I really like the factory double-serge cotton pencil skirt. Review here of the bohemian red & links to other blogger pics.

    12. I'm sure most of you have probably figured this out already, but it just dawned on me that the 20% off $125 coupon codes that came in the mail/email a couple weeks ago can be used with the 40% off early access prices. Shipping is free anyway for purchases over $100. Wish I had realized this before I placed my order this morning.

  10. Ha! I just bought the original 2006 sailboat print skirt off eBay that the Ratti Regatta Shorts have been inspired by. Love the skirt--it's pleated at the waist with a fuller shape, and will probably get far more wear out of the skirt than the new shorts. And for being 7 years old, the skirt is in amazingly beautiful condition!

  11. Ah, I see the mystery dress I bought over the weekend! It's the Swoop Dress in Thistle Print, 01234. Very lovely and classic J.Crew to me. I only wish they'd made a tall version like they did for the solid version of the dress!

    1. I didn't really love the new rollout except for this dress, which I purchased today. The online description says poly, but it's actually silk with a poly lining (a smooth, silky poly I might add). It's definitely short, mid-thigh and I'm 5'5". Fits TTS. I'm a little OCD about how printed patterns are cut, so if you are too, I'd recommend going in store. I was able to choose one where the thistles aren't cut-off at the collar. The sides are another story, but I can live with that.

    2. Also it's dry clean only unfortunately

      Delete
    3. Yes I'm a little bummed that it's dry clean only too, but for silk I will take it!

    4. Lol yes! It's a lovely dress, and I usually don't like something enough to pay over $150. I hadn't realized how my review sounded so negative until I re-read it :)

  12. I like the Vacationland shirt and some of the shorts (Regatta, Color Block chino shorts in ivory, Sunset print), the linen Color Study tee, and the Baja Embroidered top in peri. A few things I liked but probably won't try are the School of Fish Tippi and the Water Ski Girls tank, both are really cute, also the Moto Mini in linen. I also kind of like the Ikat Popover but not sure if the colors are something I'd wear enough. I like the Liberty Popover in Matilda Tulip floral. I'll probably try the shorts & Vacationland shirt and see if I can get my prints fix from something there. I do like the fun prints they have in this rollout. I like the Rollergirl print too.

  17. After looking through the new arrivals, there are only a couple of items that I'm interested in this time. I know there have been mixed feelings on the Sunset print, and I am one of those who do like it. The popover is cute and something I will consider on sale. I wish there were more swimsuit options in the print other than the string bikini and halter one-piece, because I would like to have a suit in the print. I may opt for the girls rashguard as my swim option.

The roller girl dress is cute but will more than likely be too short for me, unfortunately.

I also like the vacationland print but will need to see the 'Floridian pink' color in person to see how bright it actually is.

  18. I love the double crepe skirt in fresh pear and the baja top in peri (but I don't think its the most flattering or practical neckline / silhouette for me). I loved the ikat popover in the catalog shot, but its not doing anything for me on the website. I like the sailboat shorts, but I have the June's meadow shorts AND the rope stripe shorts, so another pair of navy shorts seems like overkill! I am intrigued by the Swiss dot tuxedo shirt, but I wonder if the front placket ruins it. I think I just have an affinity for Swiss dots.

    1. Blakemdjohns: I love navy and personally don't think there is such a thing as too much of it. I say go for the sailboat shorts if you really like them. :)

I may end up getting them, but I think I'd like to see them in person. I'll probably head into my local store to check them and the ikat popover out. They are fun and different and scream summer at the beach.

  19. There are not many items that I am overwhelmed by, but the $5 flat ship rate has me taking a 2nd and 3rd look at the website. 22. hmm, is it just me or most of the items are only offered up to size 12?

Is Jcrew telling me that I am not thin enough to wear their clothes like Abecrombie & Finch?

    1. Ditto; it's annoying. Every few roll outs they have new items going up to size 16, but then they scale back again. They can't make up their mind of what sizes they want to offer.

      Delete
    2. I couldn't agree more. There are multiple pencil skirts that are only offered up to a size 12. It's super frustrating, especially since they seem to pick and choose which No. 2 pencil skirts they will offer in a size 14.

      Delete
    3. I so don't get this either, I thought they use to offer in full range selection up to size 14 at least. It wasn't unti the recent year that in additiona to their wedding/party collection that they started offering up to size 16 for select pieces.

But then out of nowhere all the new rollout scaled back to size 12.

I always thought the larger sizes get sold out pretty fast so its not like JCREW doesn't have the market for "larger" ladies, and do they get to decide what looks good on big sizes to offer only selective pencil skirts in say size 14 or 16?

I tried not to get worked up but everytime I think about this I feel extremely offended by them!!

I finally got my Jules Dress in Scroll Print, I've been stalking that for months. I'm hoping it arrives in pristine condition and not like it's been drug behind a truck, always a little worried about the random popbacks. Also picked up the Sosie top and Stitchwork Stripe Top in navy. So glad final sale is over.

  25. I didn't catch the Ratti Regatta print back in 2006, so I am making up for it now. I just ordered the bikini, ruched femme tank, and tank top with that print! I promised myself that I will return either the bikini or bathing suit though. :o) I also got the Linen Island Tee. Very cute! To maximize the discounts, I split up my orders. 26. I also missed the Ratti Regatta print in 2006, so I picked up the regatta shorts, the Anchor terry tee, and the boardwalk polka dot linen skirt. 1. I tried it on in the ivory color. I liked the way the sleeves set (a surprise for me because sleeves with any puffiness are usually terrible on me) and I liked the neckline. It was too short on me in a size smaller than I normally wear (they didn't have my size). It was also quite sheer. I want to try it on in the peri color in my regular size. I think it could be running a bit large. The size smaller than my usual fit great on top but was short. This is a case of J. Crew not quite hitting the mark but they were so close, if only it were longer. I'll be interested to hear others' impressions of this top, though. I tried it on quickly so I'm not sure if I'm remembering it correctly.

  31. Was just in store and able to get the multistripe dress on sale + 30% off, and the anchor terry tee. Ordered the rugby dress in green, the rope stripe sailor shorts, and the scout chino in paint smudge (I know it's ridiculous, but I'm kinda into them!).

The salesperson glazed over when I tried to explain I wanted to split my order to maximize the promotion, since if I spent $250 or $500, I'd still only get $75 off unless it was two orders. He said "wow you're good at math"... yup, and you are NOT.

There was ordering and manual price adjustments and WWFIFYs... it was a mess, but I think it all worked out! Now if I only remembered to use my rewards card! DOH!

  32. I saw the Collection Cashmere Featherweight Cardigan In Two-Way Stripe - can these names get any longer? - and its companion shell in store. The cardi has horizontal stripes all over, the shell has the same but set off with a large vertical stripe. It was almost 90 here yesterday, so why I was looking at sweaters, especially double sweaters, is one of those eternal J.Crew mysteries. I'm bored already with pink combos, but the "navy-snow" colorway spoke to me. It said "I am not navy." The stripes are white, gray, light taupe and black. To test, I held it next to a navy shirt. Anyway, these pieces will be terrific for early fall. They do have the dinky little "gold" buttons, but these could be changed by someone with perserverance.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Fred it sounds like the navy has no navy? I can barely tell navy from black as it is, if it is mislabeled there is no hope for me. Those types of sweater sets work well for travel, don't they, it sounds promising, dinky buttons aside.

      Delete
    2. hi, Dani, I saw no navy. I have trouble distinguishing black and navy, too, sometimes, but when I held the sweater up next to some definitely navy stuff, not a match. Donna Karan used to do a black-navy which was my downfall, because it worked only with itself, not with black and not with navy.

I love a sweater set for travelling, the collection will require its own curator if I don't stop.

I have taken a real dislike to those buttons and they are everywhere.

  34. I really like the sailboat cashmere sweater and the cashmere monarch Tippi, but there's no way I'm thinking of buying sweaters when it's almost June. Featherweight or not, it's still a sweater which retains warmth. And Merino? Cute fish print but again why is J. Crew putting this on a sweater at the end of May? These prints all would have probably gotten me to pull the trigger if they were summer appropriate. The sale stuff I bought today online is all very summery, why are the new releases something that should've been released with the early Spring items? I guess they are hoping that sweaters in July is the new black.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Katertot. Maybe the merino and cashmere for summer is the new weight loss secret. Just like a hot box you wear! Better size down:)

    2. Saw the fish print merino Tippi in person; it seemed super thick to me. Definitely not for summer in Chicago! I wanted to get the merino butterfly tippi but that one also seemed heavier than the usual Tippi weight. Whatever. I'm saving money. Nothing from the new rollout is a must have for me. The prices are crazy for what you're getting.

      Delete
    3. I was debating on the merino monarch Tippi since its on sale but it would be for fall if I did buy it. I like it, I just don't know if I love it but thankfully it's not final sale if I do get it.

I really like the prints of this rollout, just not what they're on, I would love to see that sailboat print in a skirt or dress, and the fish print would be adorable in a lot of things, but merino this time of year? I like the regatta print but not what it's on either except for the shoes but of course they're Collection and way too expensive. The waterski print is really cute, hopefully that will be issued in some other things although knowing J. Crew they'll probably stick it on a thick wool sweater for summer.

      Delete
    4. I don't understand why they would do the cute fish Tippi in wool for June. Linen! Cotton! I don't know what they're thinking. I know there are climates where you can wear wool in June, but the print is summery so it doesn't make sense.

      Delete
    5. I think all these wools are meant for us living in the North. We can get away with wearing wool about 10 months of the year here. :)

    7. Did you see their pop-up shop in London? They must be appealing to those city-folk. It must only be cold enough over there! smh

  35. I am ***soooo*** tempted to get the Lillian Glitter sandals. They'd come out at less than $200. I'm still bummed I missed out on the glitter sandals from a few years ago, but I truly like that older version better than these. The weren't completely glitter and I felt a bit more tasteful as opposed to this new version that is ALL glitter covered. Thoughts?? T

    1. Jruby18 I like those sandals which surprises me, I just went to look. They have leather lining! They are glitter covered but the wedge is fairly low and the lines are clean. Very pretty!

    2. Thx DaniBP. I think you have excellent taste, so that might sway me to give them a go!! I do think they'd probably be more versatile than you'd think, kwim?

    3. Jruby18 - I reviewed the glitter sandals in this post. The are all over glitter, so I kwym. They're really, really cute, though. There were comments that the previous glitter sandals weren't comfortable so I decided to let go on having missed out on those. The Lillians are comfortable the moment you step into them.

    5. cate - My mirror metallic Lillians had a ship date of July 8, but shipped the other day. I'll be able to review those next week. Good luck w/the suede shipment. Sheesh.

    6. Thanks Gigi. I can't remember what the estimated ship date was. I'm glad your mirror metallic Lillians shipped, I love those but I don't have anywhere to wear them. So pretty.

  37. My internet has been acting up all day so I finally got around to taking a good look at everything. Honestly, nothing from the Retail rollout is jumping out to me that I have to have right now. I do like the stripe bow pumps and the collection Ratti candy tweed dress but at $300 and $600 respectively, not so much.
I am liking several items at Factory which is much better for my wallet :) I ordered the navy/red linen-cotton sundress from Factory which I've been waiting for (missed the Retail version last year and still regretting it!) The prices were funky on the factory site this morning though...a lot of promo prices on stuff that magically disappeared from the site, so that pared down my cart considerably (ie the polka dot popover was marked down to $41.50 then jumped back up to $70. No thanks.)

I posted this in the review setion too, but I reviewed the silk-trim maxidress here,it's still showing as part of the new arrivals.

    No, I was not invited.

  39. Anyone have any clue when the summer rewards cards will be out?

  40. Nothing I have to have, but I do want to see some of these items in person. I hope my store gets the roller girl shorts. They didn't as of this weekend. As for the sunset print, I like it but it reminds be of a pair of shorts I had from OP with an almost identical print that I wore the heck out of over 15 years ago. So I'm not sure I want to relive my middle school years again...

I did pick up a fairly new arrival this weekend, the whale linen tippi. So cute, but it is going back because it is too sheer without layering.

I wish there were more cute, cotton tees or dresses in this roll-out. That is what I want in the summer. Something easy to wear in the heat.

  41. Does anyone know when the dresses available for pre-order in the fall weddings and parties lookbook will be available for sale and shipping? There are a couple of dresses I'd consider for a wedding in August and I'm wondering if they'll be available by then.

  42. I received the latest catalogs (sorry, STYLE GUIDES) today- both the women's (which still comes with kids and men stuck in the back) and the men's (which doesn't stick anything in the back) and I have to say that I'm really astonished that they keep jacking the prices. Do they want to get rid of all of their long-time customers? $78 for a pair of white denim shorts? Really? And I am so sick of Lem Lem. Who is buying these beach cover-ups for $300? The one the model is wearing doesn't even completely cover her butt. Doesn't seem like a good value for the money. Finally, I really wish that they would stop merely saying things are imported and confess where the product is being constructed. 99% of their inventory comes from China and I really am becoming wary of supporting that industry. Bottom line is that I won't be buying anything from this catalog, particularly if it isn't on sale and I am starting to be insulted by what seems to be a deliberate attempt to attract more affluent clientele. The winning guest designer has produced more $200+ cashmere sweaters to "wear to the beach." Seriously? Who wears sweaters to the beach? And where is the cashmere being made? Does J.Crew need to have a special designer for cashmere, being that they already over-produce cashmere that pills if you even blink at it? Sorry to be so negative but J.Crew has always impressed me with its summer collections. This one falls very short.

    1. Well Lem Lem is handmade by women in Ethiopia, and I always assumed the higher prices were because they were being paid decently. Interesting points on the rest :)

      Delete
    2. I'm ok with the LemLem stuff being expensive, given it is handmade and that it is supporting artisans.

But why so much cashmere for summer? That's what I don't get - where are these women wearing cashmere in the summer?

      Delete
    3. I wonder how much of the cost of the LemLem items actually reaches the artisans, and through how many channels it goes before they see their portion. Transparency would be welcome.

      Delete
    4. wellfedfred...

I agree. I love the cause and think Liya's humanitarian works are very admirable, but I am sure the LemLem costs so much from the various companies that sell it here in the States because they want to make a large profit.

It would surprise me if the women weaving and creating the clothing weren't paid well (whatever that amounts to in Ethiopia) but I am sure more people would be willing to shell out more money if we knew exactly how it was helping.

Toms is a huge success, granted the shoes from them are quite a bit less expensive, but based on how many people I see wearing them here, folks are willing to shell out the cash.

I have the LemLem maxi skirt from last year, but I bought it on sale. The only other people I see wearing the gauzy cotton clothing around here are Ethiopians, and not the same people who wear Toms.

Fwiw, the skirt I have from LemLem is amazing, slightly sheer, super lightweight for summer, and very soft with the most beautiful threading and hem detailing. The sizes run smaller than regular J. Crew, so bear that in mind if you want to purchase.

The shirt Liya is wearing in the catalog would look so cute with a pair of shorts and wedge heel sandals. :)

    5. The first time JC featured Lem Lem items I did actually find one of the tops very cute but...the cost is just prohibitive. I understand that part of it goes to a good cause but to me, it's just not a good value for the use. I can maybe see $300 for a sweater but something I would wear casually to the beach or as a cover-up just isn't worth it. Not in Chicago, anyway! I think there should be various price points or most people simply won't be able to afford to support charities. As an example, I adopted a dog last year from a great shelter and I would love to participate in their fundraisers and other activities but the buy-in is just too expensive: $150 per person to most casual outings! I view Lem Lem to be the same. They want to raise money for the disadvantaged but they only target very privileged people to donate. I tend to work with charities who can use my $50.

    6. I agree! I was so frustrated last summer when about everything was long-sleeved! It was 110 degrees everyday for awhile and I was dying for some loose fitting short-sleeve items. A sweater is out of the question. ;(

  43. On first pass I thought there was a bunch of stuff I was interested in but on second pass I am kind of thinking "meh" for this rollout. I like the prints they are offering but I think the product selection is off the mark.

I own the Regatti skirt from '06 and still I still wear it proudly and get complimented on it. I would consider the tank but not at full price.

I love the fish print but not on a sweater...I also own a fish print skirt (orange/white) which I think was from '06 as well.

I like the Hawaii Sunset print but I don't think I would wear the pop-over (in years past I would have bought it but it likely would have sat in my closet while I tried to figure out where/when to wear it...I guess I've become a more disciplined shopper) Also, the 3 in shorts are too short for my 40 something legs.

I like the Baja top but I need to see it before I decid...I am concerned about length and sheerness.

In general I think I'm over 3" shorts, capris and pencil skirts. How about offering a printed knee length a-line skirt? Also JCrew if you are listening...I would love a neon stone bracelet just like the neon stone necklace.

    1. Actually now I am think I don't even like the color offering on the Baja...the ivory is likely too sheer (plus I like white better) and the peri is kind of blah...it would have been fun in a bright color.

  46. Some thoughts:

    1. The number of cashmere new arrivals is ridiculous.
    2. I really liked the Liya portions of the June catalog.
    3. Interesting that they're reaching back to 2006 - that was a really solid year for JC, IMO.
    4. They really need to do something about the stark white background on the website. Maybe they need to get inspired by their 2006 website as well.
    5. The Copywriter from Space must be working overtime - the item descriptions seem funnier than ever.
    6. Zoom in on the neckline of the Anchor Tee (01788). For $45?
    7. Prices are out of control - and some of this stuff will be on promo (and probably an additional %) by the time we get the next mini rollout in two weeks.
    8. I like the metallic gladiator sandals, but not for the price. If anybody sees a decent dupe/something similar, let me know!

  48. I was kind of disappointed with this rollout. There were only three things that really caught me eye: the linen Amor tee shirt, the graphic eyelet tee, and the linen boardwalk skirt in polka dot...and even these aren't items that I'm blown away by.

On the other hand, I am loving the Factory rollout: the poppy prints, striped tanks, ikat tee, fun pencil prints, etc.

  50. I received my catalogue today and spent a little time going over all the new releases online. I'm not buying anything but I have to say that the beautiful smiling Liya was so refreshing. It was a pleasure to flip the pages and see her gorgeous face and the backdrop of the Tanzanian landscape. This is one of the nicest catalogues ever.

  55. I liked a lot of things in this rollout; so many of the prints are so pretty and summery. Love the sailboats and seahorses and a bunch of the prints in the boyshorts and popovers. Regarding sweaters in the summer, I'll definitely be wearing sweaters in my freezing cold workplace on summer days (except when it gets into the 90s). Personally, I prefer wool and cashmere over cotton or linen because it's less wrinkly.

Also, living in New England--the weather can be very unpredictable by the beaches and lakes. I think J.Crew is subtly suggesting sweaters as a chicer alternative to a sweatshirt.

  56. I did just buy some stuff. (I guess I always eat crow when JC has a sale!)...I've been wanting the Cafe Capri in tuxedo stripe, so I finally got those and then the Vintage Tee in sea horse was too cute to pass up...and finally, I got a cosmetic bag that is on sale. The major bummer is that after the $30 discount, my total was ONE CENT below the qualifying $150 for free shipping. So, I still had to pay $5 plus tax. And THEN...I realized that I have an unused card member 20% off card. Today isn't my day.

    1. Ruffles, I am planning on going since I have a pair of Tabbie T-straps on hold while they are on sale. Not sure what to expect but think the current promo is all that they will be offering. My store hands out cookies and water/juice on a pretty regular basis so maybe they will up the ante tonight.

  58. I have a theory on why there is all this cashmere out for summer.....profit. They can mark up/overcharge for cashmere and justify it more easily than a cotton or linen sweater. Most of us would balk at a $90 cotton sweater but, "Look! It's cashmere! It *must* be over $200!" and those of us drinking the Crewlade will buy. I sense conspiracy.... make all these irresistibly cute sweaters, but make them only in cashmere. It's like a bad Kevin Costner movie.....if we make it, they will buy.

  59. I called my store tonight to see if they had a few items as I am planning on going by tomorrow. They are still running the 30% off sale promo and this current promo. So, you can get 30% off any sale items and after that if your total is greater than $150, $200, or $250 you can also get the discounts that are applied. You might want to go into a store if any of the items you are looking for are on sale.....

  60. I just got back from my store's style session. It was fun and they were getting a little busy. I posted a few photos on my Instagram. They had 30% off sale and the same tiered proms as online but if you spent $250 or more you received 30% off instead of $75.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I went to my store's "style session" and it wasn't anything different than my regular trips there except they had cupcakes and lemonade. I LOVE the Baja top in peri (more chambray than periwinkle IMO) and had to size down to a 2 (normally an 8 in button-ups, 6 in non-button ups). Strange thing was all the large sizes were gone. I also LOVE the polka dot #2 skirt, but I could really only justify buying one. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it makes it to sale. The chambray dot top would have been better without the elastic at the bottom. Again, I sized down to XXS and it was still blousy. The graphic eyelet top was horrible on me - maybe a smaller chest would be better? The eyelet dot tank fit my strangely around the arms, but I love the idea. The thistle print top comes in 3 color ways, navy (online), pink, and turquoise. It fit nicely, but wouldn't lay open at the top like on the model, so I felt buttoned up even though I wasn't. There weren't many people shopping, although the SM said they'd been busy all day.
