This is the weekly "Help Style Me!" post, where we can share items we are having trouble putting outfits together with. Elaine (in this
post) says it best, "You know, that thing you
bought because you love it and you keep pulling it
out and then putting it away without wearing it?"
Please
share your J.Crew item (either that you own or
are thinking about getting) that you would love help
creating an outfit with.
Also,
please help out by offering your styling advice. Feel
free to include links to your blog (where you
incorporated that piece) or to Polyvore (where you
showcased an outfit with that piece). Thanks in advance!
:)
I posted some styling ideas for the new Collection Safari sweater (watch for pop-backs). Also a number of styling ideas for newer arrivals like the No. 2 skirt in navy-white strip, Merino Tippi in graphic floral, and the Punk floral print Swoop top are on my blog HERE.
ReplyDeleteIn-store price notes:
ReplyDelete* boy shirt in oversize paisley - $78 online vs $69.99 in-store
* egg pendant - $39.99 in-store (irl pic)
* fleece stripe nautical popover - $39.99 online vs $19.99 in-store (review - consider sizing up one and wearing as a looser layer over a top, good for a cool evening during summer
* gilded dot capris - $109.99 online vs $99.99 in-store (review)
* vintage cotton tee - sale colors are $19.99 online vs $9.99 in-store (size down one, imo)
I posted a couple of outfit photos with the engineered stripe boatneck tee in navy/ivory and the Collection silk panel peony sweatshirt here, both paired with older items from J. Crew.
ReplyDeleteNotes on the fit: the engineered stripe boatneck top seems to run slightly large, I had to go for the smaller of my two sizes - I went with the XS. The sweatshirt has been lingering in the sale section for a while - I got it at the Eaton Centre store with the additional 30% off, so it was a decent price for what it is. The sweatshirt runs true to size, I had to go with a size Small. The XS was uncomfortably snug in the shoulders.
Any suggestions for pairings for the postage stamp mini in scatter dot? My Garanimals brain can't seem to move beyond the obvious matchy-matchy black top.
ReplyDeleteTFT gal - If you like wearing tees, a number of colors of the vintage cotton tee would work. There are also sale colors, which are $9.99 in-store vs $19.99 online. I'd look at orange, blue & purple tones.
DeleteI think white, red, or if you can do yellow would all look great. Get a button down and tie at the waist. Or a tee and tuck in.
