This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale
items at our
various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If
you are stopping
by a J.Crew store this weekend to see
what's available (if
anything!) in the SPRING sale, or to see some new SUMMER
arrivals {sigh!} in
person, maybe you might be
willing to share that with us in this
post. In particular, if you could
share with us a few of the
noteworthy items that are available, at
what prices, and potential sizes
the store is carrying (as well
as the store location)- that would be
fantastic!
Also,
please let us know if your local store is
carrying an additional percent
off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)
P.S.
I noticed that many of
you have already been reporting sale
items (and in which stores) in
other posts which by the way "thank
you!" :) I really appreciate how
helpful we are for each other!
I've been to J.Crew Santa Barbara store. There is one perfect shirt in citrus on sale. ($69.9+30% off) I believe it's size 10.
ReplyDeleteHere is my picture with it on: http://www.fitfabfunmom.com/va-va-voom/
Heading South this weekend, so definitely going.
ReplyDeleteno for me. i went in recently and didn't see anything i liked. they said they were getting new arrivals monday, so maybe then
ReplyDeleteMy first post on a blog ever :) have been a silent spectator for a while, have been thinking about taking the plunge. So here I go. I picked up the Merino Tippi sweater in stripe monarch - for under $50 after the 30% off sale. And remember this sweater is still for $98 online :) Icing on the cake, the sweater fits gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your first post ;-). And on the sweater score!
DeleteDipsyK, that's so great that you got it on sale. It is such a nice sweater.
DeleteWow! Great sale on a keeper!
DeleteWelcome, DipsyK :)
DeleteHeading to Scottsdale so hope the stock is good. Planning to hit a few J Crew's in the area...
ReplyDeleteI probably won't go this weekend. Feeling kind of meh about the new stuff, although I do find that sometimes changes when I actually see stuff in person. Better for my wallet to stay away. I recognize that part of the problem is that I bit on a lot of the earlier spring/summer arrivals and I don't have too much of a need for more spring/summer stuff.
ReplyDeleteOT, but does anyone have a Madewell coupon or know of any current promos? There are two things on my list, but I'd love a coupon.
All I know is the stores are doing 20% off sale. :)
DeleteBummer. I'm not near a store. I'll keep waiting for an online promo, I guess.
DeleteI used a one-time use coupon a while ago on a backordered item that was later cancelled. I wonder if they'd let me re-use the coupon. I doubt it. Ha ha. I don't even really want to try to explain that situation to an online chat rep!
Blakemdjohns - I think they will let you re-use the coupon. They just have to do it manually. Have your order # ready and they can see the canx right there.
DeleteI will not be going. I was in yesterday, and there was nothing I wanted whatsoever, except the swoop floral top maybe, but I really don't need that. The new stuff is very blah.
ReplyDeleteI will probably wait until my Barbados dress arrives next week before going, in case it needs to be returned.
ReplyDeleteIf anyone sees the Liberty popover in Phoebe floral, can you please comment on the colors IRL, and the sizing? TIA!
For those shopping at Madewell, there are a lot of new promo-priced items this week. I've updated the list which can be seen here on my blog.
I found the Phoebe floral popover to fit TTS when I tried it on in store several weeks back, maybe a little looser across the shoulders than the Liberty perfect shirts, but that was a benefit for my broad shoulders. I just ordered it online this morning and went with my usual size 4, while I did size up in the Liberty Wiltshire perfect shirt to a 6 b/c the 4 had pulled a bit under my arms in back. I believe the colors are pretty close to what is pictured on the website, for once.
DeleteThank you Linds! :)
DeleteWent to Oak Brook yesterday and it seemed like half the store was on sale! Extra 30 was still going but I don't know about the weekend.
ReplyDeleteThere are some good deals on very recent arrivals. Good luck to everyone hitting the B&Ms this weekend!
I saw the June catalog, it is on location in Tanzania. The clothes and the styling are understated but I like them. I like the vibe of the catalog, it must have been really cool to shoot this one. Some new prints are a regatta (Ratti), hawaiian (shorts, dress), more roller girl. Also has a CFDA insert.
ReplyDeleteAlso - was shot in Zanzibar for the swim section.
DeleteCate, does the cfda insert tell you how many items from each designer will be offered? Thanks !
Deletekms423, it shows 5 from Elder Statesman, 4 from Jennifer Meyer, and 6 from Tabitha Simmons. I guess they could offer more online?
DeleteThanks Cate!
DeleteDoes anyone have the style number for the anchor sweatshirt?
ReplyDeleteAD MD: The style number is 01224!
DeleteThanks Rynetta--have you seen the sweatshirt??
DeleteYou're welcome! I saw it in the retail store earlier today.
DeleteI saw this sweatshirt this evening at the newly renovated Georgetown store in VA and it's very cute. Only smalls left. BTW, this store is my new fave. It's huge.
DeleteThanks--just confirming is this short-sleeve? TIA!
DeleteAD MD, the catalog shows the sleeves rolled up high above the elbow, so it's either elbow length sleeves or short sleeves, I think. The anchor is floral on "lightweight terry" gray, $69.50. It looks really cute.
DeleteI believe short sleeves
DeleteThis is OT, BUT I went to see Great Gatsby this week and thought Elizabeth Debicki (Jordan Baker, the golfer), was wearing the J.Crew Jewel Pearl Box earrings during the scene when they all hop in the yellow car to go to the Plaza Hotel (see them here: http://www.realsimple.com/beauty-fashion/shoes-accessories/jewelry/party-jewelry-00100000073124/page4.html). If anyone goes to see the movie this weekend, let me know if you agree! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteOT - I have been a big J Crew fan for years but just got into the J Crew blog scene in the past couple of weeks! (Btw JCA is amazing!) I have heard everyone here talk about their VPS' and have read about it on the site, but I have to be honest I don't exactly understand exactly what they do. Can you all share what your VPS' does for you? Why I should or shouldn't get one?
ReplyDeleteTIA!
Mine mainly tells me about her life, and finds things for me at other stores. Oh, and price matches! She is so fun.
DeleteMine puts things aside for me in her store (and will hold them for long periods of time), finds things in other stores for me, applies my student discount to all my online orders and always gives me free shipping.
DeleteI loved my old PS. She would help track down items (on sale! shhhh) and have them sent to me, and she would also send previews of items from upcoming new arrivals. She always responded to calls or emails next business day.
DeleteOn the other hand, my current VPS is completely passive. I never hear from her unless I ask for something specific. When I write, she takes a few days to respond. I got switched to this new VPS because my previous two rockstar VPSs were promoted and switched to different jobs.
I wish I could switch to a different VPS, but I don't want to hurt her feelings!
Caitlin -- student discount!? Wow, I haven't had J Crew do that for me on online orders in years.
Question: those of you who have a VPS — do you purchase items often (especially not off the sale rack)? I guess I am worried a VPS will think, eh, she's not really worth it and not really work with me.
DeleteIt depends on the VPS. The one who initiated the connection with me by sending a handwritten note seemed to lose interest when I didn't buy anything from the spring preorder at full price. The one who helped me find a replacement for a broken necklace is super helpful and responds quickly. I don't have a JC store in my city and live in Canada so now it is limited what a VPS will do (e.g. They won't ship items from stores to me). If I have a problem with an item or a question, I call the JC number and choose the VPS option and get really good service that way.
DeleteI've never figured out how to use one. I rarely buy without a promo, so I wouldn't use a VPS to pre-order full-price. I don't need to track things down very often. Any sales associate at my nearby stores is super helpful about setting something aside for me until I can get there. I just can't figure out why I'd use just one person all the time. If it has to do with a store, I call the store. If it has to do with something online, I call the 800 #. Everyone has been really helpful no matter whom I've talked to. I think I just don't have enough special shopping requests to need a VPS.
DeletePhoebe -- I have hardly ever purchased anything full price, and I can count on one hand the number of full price or promo-but-not-sale price purchases I've made through a VPS. ...which may explain why my VPS is not very attentive! I buy nearly all my clothes from JCrew but off the sale racks.
DeleteI have had a couple VPSs over the years but it's been a while. Like Cate, I don't have much of a need for a VPS's services beyond what a good SA in my stores can do for me when needed.
DeleteThere will be differing POVs on this, but I didn't like the pressure to purchase new arrivals and stuff that was selected and "held" for me when I knew most would be on sale within weeks given JCrew's promo cycles. Their job is to upsell you in addition to handling specific requests, so it's just a matter of what type of buyer you are and what level of service you like.
I've worked with a vps for almost 5 years now. I started off as a sale customer, trying the brand. She didn't mind at all and one of my first purchases was a pair of $30 jeans on super sale. After awhile, I got sucked into buying things at fp. I think there was a period where the hype was at all time high. First Lady Obama wearing J Crew, etc... and things were selling out the first couple of days they came out. Inventory also seemed a bit more scarce. After having things go on sale so quickly in recent times, I decided pretty much no more fp for me. I simply don't wear the clothes fast enough. I can wait for sale. I didn't notice a change in the service I recvd and she & I finally talked about how fast things were going on sale. I think she realizes I'm a sale only customer now, but she's fine with that.
DeleteI think some VPS want big sales and so they focus on fp customers. I think mine is very smart because she has a following of customers that trust her. That's what I feel I have gained in creating a relationship with her. She has learned my style as I've gone from sz 2 to 8 and trying to work my way back down. She's always very honest about what works, what doesn't and she's never been wrong with her advice, I have to say. I agree w/others that you end up talking about your life with these people and vice versa. I find many of the employees in the store to share little tidbits about their lives. It makes for an interesting shopping experience. What they're doing for a holiday dinner, or their daughter is getting married, etc... I realize that their job is to sell clothes so I keep that in mind. I prefer to keep everything professional anyway as I think that's for the best. But it's nice to have a fun, personal experience while in the store.
I don't feel any special favors are done for me. I get the same service I read about here. She will request free shipping if we order thru the red phone & it's less than $175 and that sort of thing. I think having a VPS can be helpful, but the minute they're not available you're on your own. So it's best to learn the smartest way to shop the store so that you're not relying on one individual.
I reviewed some new items (swoop dress, mari sandals) and have sneak peak photos of the June Collection on my blog:

Hi there.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone seen the Crystal Crush Necklace (01382) in their local stores? It would help me a lot. Thanks!
I'm pretty sure Park Meadows has it!
Delete20% off regular priced items and 40% off sale items at the Robson store.
ReplyDelete30% off sale items at UVillage store yesterday.
DeleteI received the Darby print loafers in both the navy/ivory stripe and the leopard print. They are both a bit tight in my regular size 8. I was surprised because the bead-stitch and suede Darbys fit me fine in that size. I do think these will work for me, but I think I'd have bought a half size up if I were doing it over. Maybe they will stretch out with wear. I should return one of them but they are both so cute I can't decide which to keep. They both have a lot of white on them so dirt is a concern. So i guess I could seek & find the size 8.5 in these this weekend, but not sure if that will work since I bought them on sale. I think I need a Darby loafer intervention...
ReplyDeleteThis is just an FYI, I picked up the enameled dolphin bangle last night in my B&M for just under $35 after 30% off. It's $49.99 in stores compared to $79.99 online..big difference. Honestly never looked at it until I saw it on the display rack, it fits wonderfully and is just a stunner full of whimsy. Take a second look if you were thinking about it. Enjoy the weekend!!!!
ReplyDeleteI got it 30% off full price when it first came out, kicking myself now for not waiting longer. I thought it would be a better seller than it was. I agree it's adorable, and the colors are great.
DeleteThis happens to me too cate, you never know how things will play out with JC!! I agree that the colors are great, thinking this will work well with so many pieces this summer! Enjoy yours!!
DeleteThanks for posting this. Found and bought one at my store today. Unexpectedly cute! Love the mint color too.
DeleteWelcome Tammy!!
DeleteCheck out the In-Store Price Guide if heading out. I just remembered that I saw minnie stretch pants in a modern red type color for $24.99. Remember that you can ask a SA to order sale items in your size if they're available online, but not in-store. S/he should also ask customer service to apply the addtl 30% that's going on right now in-store.
ReplyDeleteI tried on a cute version of the Swoop Dress today, it's white with little blue flowers or bells on it. I love it but it's a little short on me. I wanted to see if it came in a tall online, but of course it's nowhere to be found on the website. Does anyone know the dress I'm talking about? :)
ReplyDeleteYes I believe I do. I think it was in store only.
DeleteJ.Crew in Cherry Creek, Denver is offering additional 30% off sale items. May 18, 2013.
ReplyDeleteWent in this morning for a return and, with the sale section still 30% off, I did a little damage. I would up with a pair of MacAlister wedges (my 2nd pair, LOVE them), the ponte swing dress, the stripe maritime blazer, and a scarf for $170 after discounts. Full price would have been over $550!
ReplyDeleteI was at the Lenox store, and the sale section was twice it's normal size, with lots of sizes of most items.
I didn't see anything in the stores, but I did pre-order a new tippi sweater. This one (item #01240) is navy with white fish on it.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely enjoyed the sale section at the Garden State Plaza mall; couldn't resist the promotion/sale + the student discount.
ReplyDeletePurchase of sale items were final sale.
(:
Bought the butterfly tippi and the downtown field jacket and along with the 30% off sale for tippi and 20% off women's apparel for the jacket, also received an unexpected 15% off $150 on top. Dunno how long the extra 15% is going on or if the SA just scanned an extra code by mistake.
ReplyDeleteReview of the origami bow stretch wool dress and Vega patent perforated pumps.
ReplyDeleteIf anyone sees the tilda rhinestone blouse or jeweled collar linen sweater marked down, please let me know!
