J.Crew posted on their Facebook page a sneak peek into their upcoming Style Guide. Otherwise known as the June 2013 catalog, it will feature Liya Kebede on location in Tanzania.
J.Crew is known for their location catalogs and this upcoming one appears to be gorgeous! I can't wait to see what the rest of the pages have in store for us!
And of course, this just means that new arrivals are around the corner!
What are your thoughts? Do you know when
the newest arrivals are expected to be available? Are you looking
forward to the upcoming new arrivals?
This photo would be amazing - except that I dearly hope that my eyes are deceiving me and these are not deliberately stained pants.
ReplyDeleteJC seems to LOVE stains and rips as a style choice(the Crewcuts paint-splattered Macalisters bug the daylights out of me). I can sort of understand ripping or staining your own clothes, but not buying them pre-stained and pre-ripped.
Am I alone here?
cousy, your eyes are not deceiving you, those are the Scout Chino in Paint Smudge lol. They can be yours for $158. Or, you can buy the Scout Chinos in Natural for $75 and spill your own paint on them :)
DeleteApparently, all you have to do is throw a Schoolboy Blazer over them and you have that perfect borrowed-from-the-construction-crew look :)
Deleteruffles that made me laugh!
DeletePaint smudged pants aside, I love the outfit. The neutral colors, the metallic sandals. I haven't like a J. Crew look in a while. Now I'm anxiously awaiting the catalogue.
ReplyDeleteAnd the model is certainly stunning (and, shock and horror, smiling!).
DeletePaint stained chinos? Really? This is not exciting me AT ALL. But it is causing me to roll my eyes and gag. It's kind of pathetic that I have 300 dollas in gift cards to the Crew and nothing is enticing me to buy. The few things I dig are always sold out instantly.
ReplyDeleteI predict those paint smudge pants are going to be on super sale very soon and then I'll see a bunch of them at future warehouse sales where they will still go unpurchased because people will think they really are damaged goods. What a silly silly idea. Or maybe I just remember recycling my badly stained and damaged clothes into cleaning rags and dog bedding instead of paying over $150 for them :)
ReplyDeletelove the safari look with metallic sandals but I can create from what I already own. On the other hand, I am glad there is hope for my spaghetti sauce victims, lol. Off to dig them out form the trash...
ReplyDeleteI think they definitely have the clothes with holes thing covered, whether they meant to or not, maybe we can look forward to fabric dye issues that will give us the smudged look.
ReplyDeleteI picked up the Style Guide today at my store and am dying to get my hands on the Camp Popover in the Hawaiian Sunset print!! I just hope they put the new items online before the 20% off promo ends!!! There are some pieces and prints for sure!
ReplyDeletePamela. Is it the same print as the tank and shorts? I bought the tank on preorder and I love the print but the cut not so much. The popover sounds like a great alternative. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteShopping Celle, yes it is.
DeleteThanks Cate! I thought I might be able to be good this month on the budget. Probably not!
DeleteOh, I love Liya, she is so beautiful and really looks amazing in everything J. Crew puts on her. :)
ReplyDelete(I think the April 2009 style guide is one of my all time favorites, that was the one she modeled in alone.)
But I totally agree regarding the stained chinos. Ugh. I have a ripped, holey, dirt-stained vintage pair of size 14 chinos from 1995 if anyone wants to buy them from me. (I took them on an archaeological dig in Belize in 1996, so they are authentically messed up, lol.)
I heard from my J.Crew store this weekend, that the new roll outs would be tonight! So maybe we will luck out with the 20% promo, over lapping. And yes, the paint splatter chinos are awful. Why would they sell this?? Sigh.
ReplyDeleteI just picked up the Style Guide at my store this afternoon, too. The new arrivals were all on the floor. The Hawaiian Sunset print is a standout, gorgeous! The popover is going to sell out quickly. I also loved the Beaded Sweater and the Vacationland Blouse.
ReplyDeleteDid you notice whether there was a dress in the print?
DeleteKris, there is a sleeveless linen Carrie Dress in the Hawaiian Sunset print for $148 in the Style Guide, but I didn't see it in the store today.
DeleteI saw the popover, shorts, and a linen tank.
I saw the dress (and the popover) in store today. The dress is a heavier linen than the popover and it has spaghetti straps (it isn't a strapless silhouette). I still prefer the shorts off all the hawaian items.
DeleteEma, do you happen to know what the length is on the shorts? I didn't notice in store and the catalog doesn't specify.
DeleteThey are 3" (I have them) but they have a zipper in the front and they feel a bit longer on than the 3" with side zip IMO (also because of the linen fabric).
DeleteThanks, Ema. Bummed I was hoping for 5".
DeleteRule of thumb, ruffles: If the print is really cute, the shorts only come in a 3" inseam. Ugh...
DeleteThanks!
ReplyDeleteWent in to the store today to see the new arrivals - lots to love, reminiscent of the ol' j crew. Seahorse shorts, anchor short sleeve sweatshirt, summer prints - picked up a June style guide and there are plenty of items to love! Online roll out is Wednesday, as per my online VPS.
ReplyDeleteHi JCAs, review of the jeweled medallion sweater.
ReplyDeleteI have some pics from the June rollout on my blog (sent from my personal stylist) here:
ReplyDeletehttp://handbagaficionado.blogspot.com/2013/05/jcrew-june-collection-rollout-and-punk.html
Anyone know the item number or the Hawaiian sunset print popover?
ReplyDeleteItem # 01173L Cabana Blue
Delete01173L. HTH!
DeleteI picked a June style guide up in the store today. This is probably the best of the year for me. The styling seems more realistic and I'm excited about multiple items, some really cute shoes, necklaces and tops this month!
ReplyDeleteAgreed! Liya is gorgeous, the pictures are gorgeous, and I see lots of tempting things! I think I might have to have that Linen Moto Mini on p.08....
DeleteHave pics of two new necklaces as well as a sailboat print tank on my blog - www.bichonluvrscloset.blogspot.com - from our visit to the store today.
ReplyDeleteThanks Suzy! I have that same exact print on a j crew skirt from 2006 :) pattern recycle :):)
DeleteJust got my copy in the mail today. So beautiful. Another for my growing collection. Can't wait for the Style Sessions event on Thursday. :)
ReplyDeleteI and my floors sported the paint smudged look when my children were small. Now they are grown up it finally catches on.
ReplyDeleteAnother "pattern recycle:"
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone remember the Collection Jacquard Treasure fabric of yore? I owned the Blazer, and I think there were Capris as well. It had a pale mint background. This year's Collection Metallic Foulard is a recycle with a Blush background.
Stopped by my B&M (Park Meadows, CO) to do some returns and some of the new arrivals were out, noticed Hawaiian print popover and dress. The sale section is huge with additional 30%, not sure where they are going to put more new arrivals. Noticed 20% off dresses, 25% off tabbie t-straps and other random signs with discounts. If anyone is still looking for the Scalloped Dress in bright poppy they had a number of them in the sale section $119. before discount if I remember correctly.
ReplyDeleteI don't mean to rain on any parades, but I just don't get the Hawaiian sunset print. It looks to me like something that would be painted on the side of a van...?!
ReplyDeletei'm with you kiwigem.
DeleteI am conflicted about it. I can totally see it on the side of a van, but I kind of like it. I can't decide if I would wear it, though. The colors are really good.
Deletei wish a rash guard came in the hawaiian print actually.
DeleteMiss JR it come in a rash guard in girls sizes.
Deletei'd never fit into a girl's size rash guard... but *maybe* that means it might come in women's sizes?!
DeleteI must admit when I saw the dress and the popover IRL I was not impressed at all. The dress is really stiff, kinda like printed burlap IMHO. But hopefully that means all that love it will have plenty of choices.
DeleteI don't get the print either! I saw the dress and popover today and the material is quite thin. The print reminds me of those prints bak in the late 70s and early 80s. I showed my husband last night and he had a nice guffaw!
DeleteI really like this location shot, but the new items aren't that appealing.
Another *pattern recycle* - this girls' sailboat dress.
ReplyDeleteThis pattern was originally pink and green, and was out in 2005, I believe. I LOVE this print - I've hunted down almost every item JC made in it on eBay - and I'm super hopeful that we'll see something in this print for women.
