Just a reminder that J.Crew is offering customers to take an additional 30% off all sale items (no min) with promo code MUSTHAVE. This offer expires Friday, April 20, 2012.
I love that this promotion is available both online and in-stores. Also worth mentioning, the 15% student/teacher discount applies to these sale items too. {woot woot!}
I wasn't planning to buy much during this sale, but I fell and I fell hard. I bought a couple of necklaces, bracelets, dresses, and the Tillary Tote in Canvas Stripe. The prices were too good to pass up.
I also scored my long-time crush, the Big-Shot Dot Dress (Item 70542; $158.00} which is on sale currently in stores for $99.99 (before any discount applied). I know this dress is not for everyone, but I heart it so much. As I was purchasing the dress, three women (from different generations) started commenting how much they adored the dress. There is something about polka-dots that bring women together!
Lastly, I have noticed that the in-store and online prices vary {once again}. Depending on the item, you might get a better price at a store or online. Luckily, J.Crew does price match their lowest prices (stores have to call in for online price matching, online needs to call local stores for in-store price matching). It might be a good idea to check out both places beforehand to know which place is offering the better deal.
Will you be checking out the Sale section? Are there any items you are hoping to see or to get?
Not even tempted by this sale, maybe if it wasn't final...
ReplyDeletePreview of May rollout HERE, more reviews to come soon.
Cute dress! Here's a pic of it.
ReplyDeleteI am sitting this sale out as there is nothing I need from the sale section.
I totally fell hard as well and couldn't help myself! Thanks for pointing out that J Crew does price match- I tried that once at a store and they had no idea what I was talking about!
ReplyDeleteAlso, thanks for sharing that the dress has gone on sale in-store as its worth revisiting.
I haven't tried to get an online price match for a while, but the last time I tried they told me that I had to be calling from the store so they could confirm the store selling price . . . which seems like a Catch-22 for me, because if I could get to the store, wouldn't I just buy the item at the store?
ReplyDeleteGot jewelry but that's about it-- no likely final sale and still hopin for a percent off promo for FP items-- maybe next week to coincide with new arrivals and reward cards?
ReplyDeleteSmall update this morning. Some new items have already made their way to final sale (I'm getting a serious case of whiplash). The painted rope skirt (only size 8 available now) and the blosuon dress in stripe (cerise color) are the two that I noticed. There may be more.
ReplyDeleteThe giraffe necklace is on promo too.
ReplyDeleteOT and question for VA JCAs. The Lynchburg Clearance Store sent out a note about a sample sale this weekend. The note doesn't specify whether it is a warehouse sale or a promotion at the Clearance Store. The phrase "guests will enjoy savings up to 60% off retail" makes me suspect the latter. I've never seen that wording on a warehouse sale announcement. Does anyone have further information? TIA
ReplyDeleteThere are some new Promo-priced items this morning...updated list is here.
ReplyDeleteAlexis I had the same experience with the dress, I went shopping with a friend in Toronto and we both bought it, there was so much excitement in the dressing room area, all the women love that polka dot dress!
ReplyDeleteI'm wearing mine with a red patent belt and patent navy ballet flats, and a pearl necklace. I love it!
New items on FS
ReplyDeletethat doesnt make any sense
Definitely some new markdowns in the jewelry section (giraffe, beehive, snail bracelet, giraffe necklace), and in the dress section (big-shot, cerise blouson, various other second markdowns). Shoes see some markdowns, including the Kira leather sandal and the Martina patent leopard wedge. I might stop in a store today and will let you all know what new markdowns I see!
ReplyDeleteThanks ajc for the preview! Some promising new arrivals coming. :)
ReplyDeleteI was at the Syracuse b&m yesterday. I was surprised at how large the sale section was, had to exercise self control and stick to my wishlist. :)
In Sale section I noticed: a couple of big shot dot dresses (99.99); cafe trousers (29.99); paisley Talithas; paisley pencil skirts; purple Blythe blouses; Matchstick jeans in starlight wash (69.99 or 79.99); lots of stripe vneck sweaters in navy and pink (29.99); Elinor dress (orange); couple of Natashas in black; green; and Wildcat. HTH Sorry I don't have prices for all, had my husband and baby with me so I was hurrying.
I had to get the beehive necklace this morning. That must have been a new markdown. They mark things down so quickly... I know that is mentioned alot but I will never get over it! One has to be on their toes!
ReplyDeleteI ordered the long pearl necklace and a polka dot dress for my daughter, since those were 2 items I have had my eye on for a long time, and they finally went to sale this morning. I almost snagged the lattice peacoat but it disappeared from my cart while I was checking out. Too bad as it was an excellent price. I was tempted to buy other things but I am so painfully shopped out from the previous two promos, I have to take a break!
ReplyDeleteThis year's offerings haven't excited me much...even on sale. I've bought a few things, kept a few, returned a few. But nothing like the shopping I did last year. I do see some things in the May rollout that I definately want! The Final Sale is hard for me. I just can't committ to an item I don't know how fits or looks. I would never order if I hadn't already tried it on.
ReplyDeletenews on JCrew!!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.nytimes.com/2012/04/19/fashion/joseph-altuzarras-collection-for-j-crew.html?_r=1&hpw
More pics of the collab pieces HERE from Vogue.com...$345 for pair of espadrilles! Make the $295 "holey" cashmere sweater look positively economical.
DeleteUmmm I love that gingham dress. I need it, actually. $228 isn't terrible either especially compared to the rest of the line. That sweater is unbelievable!!!
DeleteDoes anyone know how much the Enameled Ram Bangle is? Is it still full price?
ReplyDeletethanks ludo! LOL moth eaten sweater-just what a j crew customer wants!
ReplyDeleteAJC, thank you for those great pics! That pencil skirt has me very excited. I don't buy many patterned items, especially skirts, but I think I'm going to need that piece :)
ReplyDeleteIs it possible to get the 15% student/educator discount online? e.g., by calling in? Or having the prices manually adjusted in-store with the invoice? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteNo, I've asked a few times, and they aren't doing it for online orders.
DeleteSo, I've just heard about the 15% student discount; late, I know. But, how do I get it? There are a few things I've got my eye on but would like this additional discount on the sale items if I can..
ReplyDeleteAJC, thanks for the preview! The pencil skirt and tunic dress are TDF.
ReplyDeleteCan anyone in the Columbus, Ohio area tell me how the sale sections are at Easton and Polaris? Thanks!
Does anyone have an online PS that gives the educators discount along with this promo? I know the ones I have had in recent years and my current one DO NOT. (I don't need a name just wondering if anyone is so lucky!) I am told that the promo is too good to give any additional discounts....
ReplyDeleteI want to bite on this sale but I'm lingering....I have the paisley long pencil skirt in the cart, the paisley silk blouse and the blythe blouse in purple just hanging out. I cannot decide if I"m in or out on these fs items but I try telling myself I will wear...for sure next year. Right!
ReplyDeleteJen, I always bring my online order receipt into the store and get a price adjustment for the educator discount. Fortunately, I work with some awesome SA's who never give me a hard time. I'm sure they know I am just going to put it toward another purchase anyhow :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful. Thanks, BonnieMc!
DeleteWent in today and completely forgot about the shopping embargo I imposed on myself last week (having to pay the IRS and the search for the perfect wide-leg pants really shouldn't happen in the same month). Scored the no. 2 in sovereign paisley, pink gingham shorts, and some vintage tees and tanks. Will be eating ramen until May.
ReplyDeleteI bought those shorts too, but I can't figure out what to wear with them, other than my navy Spindrift sweatshirt. Any ideas? Thanks!
DeleteI plan on wearing mine with an army-green vintage crew tee and some bright blue flat sandals (yay colorblocking!) or a chambray/denim buttondown. HTH!
DeleteEating ramen until May, LOL!
ReplyDeleteOT, but I had not heard of this before now. Do I live under a rock?
Sneak peek at J Crew's ultimate designer collaboration with Altuzarra - on sale THIS Thursday
straycat, I completely agree with you. Several items I would like to buy but have not seen nor tried on so with final sale it is a pass.

ReplyDeletesorry to be off-topic here, folks, but isn't it weird how similar this paul smith skirt is to j crew's giverny print?

(sorry for the double-post, had to be sure the links were right!)
I'm a big fan of Paul Smith. He's a master of print and colours. Not surprising that JC and PS both found inspiration from Monet's Giverny paintings. I think that print is not new to PS, there is a pair of heels that I've been drooling over for the last couple of years done in that print.
Deletei agree, PS is very cool!
Deletei looked at monet's giverny paintings, and i couldn't find which one specifically could have influenced the two patterns, since the flowers are almost identical, but i'm certainly no expert!.
just to clarify, i don't think anyone 'stole' anything here, i am just pointing out the astonishing similarity.

Stopped in quickly today and picked up two dresses -- the fabiola is marked down to $59.99 less 30% ($42) in-store, and the leopard print greyish silver / cream silk dress was marked down to $79.99 less 30% ($56) in store. I'd agree with comments that the fabiola runs a tad small, but I went with my regular size (2) because there were no 4s left. Also picked up the navy superfine cotton lined pencil skirt (21325) for about $50 -- still full price online but there was only one in the store -- not sure what the deal was with that one. Not complaining!
ReplyDeleteJust to warn people, the "Modern Red" Linen Twill Skirt is by no stretch red. It is a bright orange with coral undertones. I'm hoping J.Crew will allow me to return it since it's so totally off from the website picture and description, even though I purchased final sale. Be warned though, in case you're looking for something red and not orange.
ReplyDeleteNote to my future self...DO NOT BUY FINAL SALE!
ReplyDeleteYes, the cotton open stitch cardigans were an unbelievable deal at $13.99 a piece, but they don't make up for the completely useless feather paisley talitha blouse that didn't suit me at all. Since I'm too impatient to deal with selling clothes online, I've already donated the talitha blouse to Goodwill with tags still on. Hopefully someone else will appreciate it!
I did some major damage in all these 30% off sales, but I'm left with a pile of stuff that's okay, but a little off (a silk popover that's a little too tight in the shoulders, a perfect shirt in a color I don't absolutely love, etc. etc.).
In the future I'd rather use this money towards things that are absolutely perfect.
After donating half my wardrobe to Goodwill this past weekend, I'm more dedicated than ever to buying things I love that fit properly and will last.
Autumn are you talking about the Sovereign Paisley Popover? It was tight in my shoulders too! And I even bought the larger of my 2 normal sizes. Sad. I will work but I better not go moving my sholders around in rapid motion while wearing it!
DeleteSorry to be OT - Does anyone know if the Vintage Crewneck tee came in the color Chili in store? I know that color is avaialable in the Vneck but am looking for the Crewneck.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
I haven't seen the crew neck in my store, just the v neck. theoretically it could've sold out, but I think it's more likely it was v neck only, sorry :( I know a good red is hard to find!
DeleteWould love to hear from some JCA's which stores have a good sale shoe selection. I don't mind calling around to stores, but would love to hear a few that specifically have larger shoe departments. My local b&m does not have the Vivs at all and that's what I'm looking for. TIA!
ReplyDeleteSF JCrew has a decent sale shoes selection imo.
DeleteJruby18 try Lake Forest IL
DeleteThx so much girls!
DeleteI'm relatively new to J. Crew (I was too fat before to fit into their clothes. Last year I lost 40 lbs and bought a whole new wardrobe. 99% from the Crew), but it seems last year I bought sale items that I then returned. It seems to me now the items go directly from full price to final sale. Correct me if I'm wrong on this point. This just doesn't work for me. Even though I know what size I wear in some items (like the cafe capri pants) and can order them without fit worries, I don't have experience with all the sizes and cuts. I just bought another gingham perfect shirt in my regular size (I own about 5 already) that I took back. Too tight in the arms and shoulders and REALLY sheer. And since I have sizes 4, 6, and 8 from the Crew in my closet, I find it hard to guess. So Final Sale for me is a big risk that I'm not willing to make. I'd rather just pay full price and know I really want the item and that it fits well and looks great.
ReplyDeleteMy ps ordered the Olympia sandals in seashore beige for me since they are on sale in stores (my b&m only carried the raisin and red). I already have these in red (got my price adjustment this past Saturday). I'm very excited to get this colorway as I needed a new pair of brown/tan flat sandals. I must stop buying. :) My ps says the new catalog has some great items, especially pencil skirts. Guess I may not stop buying. :D
ReplyDeleteit does! mostly just the same items we've seen in new colors/prints, but there are some great colors this month! I'm loving the sandals particularly, so many I want! and that's just what's in the catalogue, who knows what goodies will be online!
DeleteAlexis thanks for the heads up re big shot dot dress, I've been wanting this from the day I saw it- $69, how could I resist?!!! Thank you thank you!!
ReplyDeleteOT: Has anyone seen the chiffon dresses in gallery green? I'm debating buying the Arabelle as a cocktail dress, but I despise returns.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
:) Jen
I have and in my opinion the green is more a true green like in the 'list' view rather than the sea green it appears when you click on the page. I hope that makes sense. That said, I wore the long arabelle as a bridesmaid earlier this year and everyone said they looked stunning. I think this dress suits smaller busts unless you size up and then the fit may be off in the waist. Word of advice: we had ours taken in at the waistband which then holds the bust up better and the dress doesn't slide down HTH
DeleteThis is off topic! I need help though, I need a cocktail dress and I am coming up with zero great ideas. Check out my post ladies and let me know what you think!
ReplyDeletemegancrewreviews.blogspot.com
TIA!
I bought a few things, including two pairs of wool cafe capris. I ordered tall size for a little extra length. I love how they fit, but I haven't worn them yet so I'm still concerned about the possible itch factor.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your weight loss, straycat! I'm working on losing a few pounds, too. I was very slender my entire life, but recently I've gained a bit and I hate it.
Wondering if anyone has posted IRL pics of the long ribbon pearl necklace? Want to get it with the promo but don't want to be disappointed. So far I haven't come across any pics on blogs. Thanks :)
ReplyDeleteThanks to all the ;ladies who posted about the olympia sandals on sale at the Seattle store and also showing me the way to place the order . I called them yesterday and they placed the order for me through the red phone ,I live outside US and wasn't sure if they would do it . I got the radio red for $48.99 ! I am so happy , love this sandal , already have it in the dark brown , black and pink suede
ReplyDeleteHi Navn, I haven't been able to find the others posts about ordering olympia sandals through the Seattle store, could you fill me in? I'd love a pair too! Are they the leather ones or the suede ones? Thanks!
DeleteHi ,
ReplyDeleteIt is the Jcrew Downtown Seattle store Pacific Place 206-652-9788.I called them yesterday .I asked for a price match as the sandals have been marked down in their store and there is the 30% off too , it is final sale though , but since I had these already I was sure of my size . The sales assisstant was very friendly and she took my shipping and billing details and placed the order for me , they are the red leather ones ( radio red ) HTH
Thanks so much for the tip. I snagged a pair in the deep raisin colour and am SUPER excited! They even honoured the US store price even though they are being shipped to Canada. What a significant savings compared to the website price. Woo hoo :)
DeletePics of the Talitha in feather paisley in this post.
ReplyDeleteNew Arrivals are up on the website now.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know if J.Crew is no longer selling the Timex Traveler watch (the one with the thinner bands for women)? I noticed recently that all of the bands were moved to Final Sale, and there weren't any new seasonal band colors at full price (usually they phase out seasonal colors and bring on new colors for the next season). I popped into my B&M and found that all of the bands in the store were priced to sell at $2.99 each, so I scooped up a whole bunch of them in a frenzy. I commented to the SA that I thought the watch was being phased out, and she assured me that it wasn't. But today I looked at the site and it's no longer there! I'm glad I scored a bunch of the bands at an awesome price when I did, but now I'm disappointed that there won't be any new watchband color offerings in the future.
ReplyDeleteWhile most people were watching new arrivals this morning, there were some decent sale pop backs. I scored a sand dune blythe in 00 (I had ordered it at FP a while back but my order was cancelled due to insufficient inventory). I also saw a double serge wool hacking jacket in size 2 - heather acorn. I would have pounced but I'm more of a schoolboy fan.
ReplyDeleteI, too, was watching sale popbacks, as I woke a little earlier than usual... Snagged the lattice belt I've wanted forever (hope it ships, and that it doesn't run small--ordered the smaller of my sizes), slubby scarf, and vintage lace henley. Also bit on the boathouse shirtdress, after confirming length--guessing if it is super short, I can add capri leggings. Wondering if everything will ship, as I think several things were singular items...
ReplyDeleteDanielle, I have been wondering the same thing. I have noticed that the watch keeps going on sale. I think I have the watchbands in every color but love that watch. I enjoy matching or totally unmatching the band with my outfit for the day. I may stop by my B&M and pick up another one if they are on sale with 30% off.
ReplyDeleteOh, I never noticed the watch on sale... Guess they really are phasing it out. So sad! I think I have quite a few of the bands, though not the red and pink stripey one or the lilac. Also missed out on the calf-hair one at Christmas. When I went last week they were offering an extra percentage off on the bands, but the promo didn't appear until checkout. Even the SA was surprised. So I ended up getting the bands for $2 each.
DeleteFYI I saw one calf hair strap in the clearance section at the store in Columbus Circle ( NYC) marked to $4.99 before the promo.
Delete@AnnieA- Thank you for your response! I wish it came in the Crewneck style. :) (I can't seem to get 'reply' to work from my computer.)
ReplyDeleteI went to my local B&M this morning (in Atlanta) and the Big Shot polka dot dress was still full price? :(
ReplyDeleteIt's back to full price online too.
DeleteWent to one of my local stores, Cambridge Side Galleria in MA, and got the blythe silk blouse in the bright purple, as well as the classic merino cardigan in grey. They had a pretty good sale selection, better than usual.
ReplyDeleteGot them both for $35.69 each, the store was offering 30% off sale price and I also was able to use my 15% student discount.
Sorry girls but how do I post a reply , I am clicking on reply but can;t seem to post it ? clueless !
ReplyDeletenavn - Sometimes reply works and sometimes you can click until your mouse clucks into a chicken and it simply won't work. You are not crazy ;)
DeleteAnyone know the in-store price on the black Valentina pumps? tia
ReplyDeleteGigi, the black and red valentina pumps are $99.99 in-store, less the 30% discount! I went to the Tyson's Galleria (VA) store today and picked up both in a size 8 -- they were marked $129.99 but rang up as $99.99!! So excited! Not sure what other sizes were available -- there was a large shoe selection, but not many of these. I'm pretty sure there were the following on sale, although I do not remember prices: Olympia suede wedge in black, malta sandals in fresh mango and seashore beige, mona pump in dreamweaver (black and white -- this was $139.99, b/c I was considering, but decided against as I just don't do high heels often enough), viv printed patent (although only one or two pairs) for $69.99 (I of course got one, for this price!), and the olympia sandal for $69.99 (I picked this up in the red). There were others (boots and such) that I didn't even look at.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteOh, also the sydney patent sandals in black patent. Very cute, but I didn't even try -- do not want to tempt myself with another black sandal...
Deleteaudreys - Thanks so much! I got the printed Valentinas and the rooftop red. Not sure about the black, but definitely want to consider if they are on sale in-store. Some think a long pointy toe adds height for shorties, but I don't see it. At 5'2" I always feel like it looks like I'm on skis. So maybe the printed skis and red skis are fine, but will pass on black skis. I have till tomorrow to decide. I usually don't like pointy toe but these frame the foot so well.
DeleteI got the Sydneys today. Yes, do not try them on. lol
Did anyone notice that there was a large update to the sale section later today but that most of the product pages are ghost pages? Strange...
ReplyDeleteDo the scarfs ever go on sale? I notice they are on sale online but not in-store? I never see scarfs on sale in store :(
ReplyDeleteLisa - yes, scarves go on sale in-store. Sometimes they are on promo, i.e. $10 off. There isn't always signage, I've noticed. It's worth asking for a price check thru the register (ringing up actual item) if there's something you really want. Some scarves make it all the way to markdowns.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDelete@Lisa, I was so excited to see the vibrant paisley scarf in final sale since i've had my eye on it for the last few months and my stores here in Atlanta have tons of them in stock. I went to two separate stores to try to get the scarf. The first store said that they couldn't give me the turquoise color for the sale price since the orange was the only color still on the website on sale. I tried to argue that since the other colors were sold out how were they to know they wouldn't be on sale? The manager was very snooty with me. The next Jcrew I went to said they don't do price matches online anymore and that the in store pricing is completely separate online. I know this is not true. Alas, I am out of luck!!
ReplyDeleteHas anyone seen the Valentina calf hair pumps in a size 10 in their store. I got this for myself and my mum saw it and now wants one for herself. Problem is, it's been sold out in that size for a while now.
ReplyDeleteI would like to do the price match on Big-Shot Dot Dress because I adore it so much. Could you please advise which store that you purchased this dress for $99.99? Many thanks!!
ReplyDeleteSydney patent sandals, $258 regular price online, $119.99 in-store. Irl pics in this post.
ReplyDelete@AC - the Syracuse, NY b&m had a couple of the big shot dresses on sale on Tuesday. Not sure of sizes. HTH (I can't get the 'reply' feature to work.)
ReplyDeleteThanks Jan. I called the customer service but they require me to call from the store, provide sale assistant employee detail and number etc in order to honor the price. What a shame... :(
