"Thanks!" to many of you, Fabulous Florida Mommy (in this post), Miss JR (in this post), as well as Irina, who let us know that J.Crew had an update to its website today (click here to view online).
There are some new arrivals for men (click here) & women (click here). {wahoo!} It looks like Crewcuts (click here) has been updated, as did the J.Crew Collection (click here).
The latest catalog (click here to view) is not yet available to view.
Exciting News: Miss JR let us know that J.Crew is offering free shipping on all orders with code FREESHIP! [Not sure if this works for everyone. On my screen, I only see the MUSTHAVE (for 30% off sale items) code.]
What items are you most excited about and why? Which items are you surprised (or not surprised) to see? Which items did you hope would be included? Were you expecting a bigger roll-out today? Also, did you receive the latest catalog? :)
I like a lot of the new items but I had to say about the Altuzarra Serge Sweater and its "peekaboo" holes, maybe that isn't something that J Crew should be celebrating. I have lots of "peekaboo" holes on sweaters and shirts that weren't meant to be there by design, :-)
ReplyDeleteI laughed ou loud at that. No thank you on the holey clothing. Let's leave that for the teenagers.
DeleteToo bad you cannot use two codes at J.Crew; now that would be news to report! :)
ReplyDeleteI agree! I ordered my final sale swimsuit (fingers crossed it fits) and the silk bow cami I want to try anyway as a ride-along.
DeleteFactory has 83 new arrivals online. There are some "casbah" print items and a factory version of last year's stripe blouson dress in pink and black stripes.
ReplyDeleteHow can you see factory? It's not showing up on my page today.
DeleteClaire - Link to J'Crewlet
DeleteThanks!!
DeleteI wish I could order. Final sale is killing me. I would love a top or two.
ReplyDeleteTo clarify, I see FREESHIP on my mobile site and MUSTHAVE on the regular site. Not ordering, but I hope it works for whoever is!
ReplyDeleteYup. I do too. Can't stack codes howevere, this is a good option if u want to try full price new items!
DeleteBeware of price increases. I randomly looked at pjs and the vintage pj set is $10 more now.
DeleteSilk camis now start at $98, they used to start at $88. And the cashmere sweaters are anywhere from $20 to $50 higher. And that's just what I noticed with a quick browse.
DeleteReviews of new arrivals and links to previously reviewed items posted HERE.
ReplyDeleteI love the Altuzarra dresses and the denim skirt. I am seriously considering the latter although its pricey. Not much else for me in this rollout. The new number 2 pencil skirts are pretty, just too short for me.
ReplyDeleteI love the Altuzarra gingham dress... sooo cute. I must have!
ReplyDeleteThe $350 POLYESTER collection dress is a little ridiculous. It is adorable but I will not pay more than $50 for a polyester dress.
I had the gingham dress in my cart but now it looks like it has been pulled from the site...
DeleteI'm still seeing it here:
Deletewww.jcrew.com/womens_category/ingoodcompany/Altuzarra/PRDOVR~92134/92134.jsp
Thanks Autumn. I have no idea why I wasn't seeing it! I ordered it to try out.
DeleteOoh, a factory version of the Victoria cami... this time in poly, though :(
ReplyDeletehttp://www.jcrew.com/womens_factory_category/allnew/PRDOVR~82719/99102699321/ENE~1+2+3+22+4294967294+20~~~205+17+4294966721~90~~~~~~~/82719.jsp
Eww. Poly. That was my initial reaction. I would have been tempted by the fact that it can be handwashed (trust me when I say that the silk ones cannot) but only if I didn't own the colors that are available.
DeleteHaha... I ruined my ivory Victoria by attempting to wash it so I totally know what you mean. I might buy the factory one on super sale... but gosh, I sure do hate poly.
DeleteSo disappointed with the Collection pleated dress - I have been waiting months for its release and now I find out it's polyester!! And over $400 for Canadians (with taxes and shipping, around $475)!
ReplyDeleteOh well, there's lots of other things I see that look very nice and are going on my wish list (this after telling myself I need to take a break from the shopping after 3 rounds of promos!). Like Gigi said a while ago, "J.Crew, I can't quitchu!"
So many things I love this rollout. I've done so much damage with the sale, though, that I'm willing myself to be good for now!
ReplyDeleteI need a break too. But I'm always looking at the cashmere Isabella sweater and the cashmere boyfriend v sweater. Wondering if these are really baggy? Size down or no? Also is the Isabella super wide neck (which I don't like)? Thx!
ReplyDeleteIsabella fits giant and has a very wide neck (that uncovers a bit of the neck). Size one down for sure.
DeleteEma is correct - size down on the Isabella! I also have the cashmere boyfriend v sweater and it is not oversized or slouchy - it fits quite nicely. I did not size down on that one.
DeleteThanks ladies'
DeleteDoes anyone know if the pencil skirt in garden floral in the pattern they call "bold orange" is the same thick cotton blend that was in the mostly green garden shade from earlier this spring? TIA.
ReplyDeleteJcrewjD, I looked at that dress b/c of what you wrote - agreed, ridiculous for them to ask $350 for a polyester dress. IMO their so-called "Collection" is vastly overrated. Really think they just throw darts at items and if the right color hits, it's "ok, let's call this a collection item & inflate price."
Freeship code is not working.
ReplyDeletepathos: The Isabel and Cashmere Boyfriend Sweaters are some of my favorite JC items ever. I highly recommend both! I usually wear a 4/6/XS/S in JC but I sized down to the XXS in the Isabel so I could wear it with pencil skirts without it looking messy. The XS would have been fine, though. I got the Cashmere Boyfriend in XS - XXS would have been way too tight on the arms/S would have been really big. Hope this helps!
ReplyDeleteForgot to mention: the Isabel neck is fairly wide but not so wide that you always have to worry about a bra strap showing (though I don't know if this would have held true had I bought an XS rather than XXS). I am actually wearing the heather caramel Isabel now and my bra straps are covered on each side by about .5 inch.
DeleteAnyone else see the new, not out yet, skirt on the sale page listed under the No. 2 pencil skirt in feather paisley? I was clicking through the sale items and saw that skirt and was like how did that end up in the sale items so fast since it isn't even out?? haha! Now when you click on the actual page it does should the feather paisley skirt, but still. Great...now I want to see that skirt even more in person.
ReplyDeleteYes! I saw that and was so disappointed when I clicked through. The blue and white one looks like a fun statement piece!
DeleteYes! It was showing it earlier and now is back to normal :( I did email my personal shopper about it. We'll see what she comes back with.
DeleteIt looks like there's a major update in the sale section (it is now showing over 1000 items) but if you click on any of the new additions, it says it is sold out already. Very strange... I also see the new blue & white pencil skirt that ajc blogged about in the sale section but if you click on it, it shows the feather paisley skirt instead. Their IT department is in dire need of help!!
ReplyDeleteI tried the FREESHIP code and it did not work for me. :( I also noticed that sale Jewelry section had a huge update and is now up to 89 items. Every single piece of sale jewelry that I was interested in was sold out. So frustrating!
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteOff topic but there were some updates to the sale jewellery section.
ReplyDeleteExcept everything seems to be sold out. I think someone at JC goofed and put new arrivals in the sale section because I've never even seen those pieces of jewellery before.

ReplyDeletedoes anybody know what happened to the dolman-sleeve striped tee?
ReplyDeletei was also wondering why the crystal brulee bracelet cost $30 more than the last time?
that is a big increase in price!
It comes up when I search "dolman"
DeleteHi Ina - I'm sure they took the page down. Links to the top take me to the sites main page. Why do they randomly remove items? I wonder if it's ever just a mistake on their part.
DeleteI though Ina was referring to the cotton/modal top, not the 3/4 linen version.
DeleteI thought it was this one: http://www.polyvore.com/stripe_dolman-sleeve_tee/thing?id=53401953
Hi ladies-- boy... do i feel like poo now... i contacted jcrew about the FREESHIP promo... the mistake is theirs... it's a no go :(
ReplyDeletethey were so clueless that i actually had to tell him how to get to the mobile site in the first place to see the code... and they won't honor it even though it is up.
sigh. i'm REALLY REALLY REALLY sorry guys. i was checking the site on my phone on the train this morning and didn't see the difference on the sites until i got in to the office.
Not appreciating the price increase. I've been waiting for a FP discount code before ordering the vintage pajamas but the price was just hiked!
ReplyDeleteI posted that too! Such a lame move on their part.
DeleteMiss JR, FREESHIP was on my phone this morning, too. I was puzzled as they never seem to run more than one promo at a time. Not at all surprised that someone screwed up and it doesn't work. Don't feel bad - it isn't your fault!
ReplyDeleteI did too see the FREESHIP on my phone, but not when I got to work on my computer, so it was a J.Crew mistake. They had mistakes all over the place this morning...ugh. So frustrated..everything I wanted was sold out in the sale section and the new arrivals seem a bit too pricey for me right now. And is it me or did the chino shorts jump slightly in price? I thought they used to be $42 or $42.50? :(
ReplyDeleteA few things have sparked my attention: The color block featherweight cardigan (pink/navy) and the seersucker bermuda. I also thing the garden floral card and silk sleeveless top with bow are beautiful but not sure which one is more practical? Thoughts?
ReplyDeleteMy Factory Store had the bermuda at a better price so I will pick those up there. Still in love with the flame red paired with anything. Not brave enough to mix many of the patterns together.
The cabochon bracelets (more than one) and the linen schoolboy are making me drool.
ReplyDeleteI love new arrivals day, how fun. The sale section is still messed up though, with the ghost jewelry and ajc's pencil skirt still showing up.
ReplyDeleteWeirdie cats!
DeleteIt's funny that AJC's pencil skirt is showing up in the sale section, sort of. I had my personal shopper preorder that for me today after seeing it on AJC's blog. Finally, a skirt long enough for me!
ReplyDeleteOh I flipping love that! Let me know what you think, I really fancy the dress version, I love longer pencil skirts.
DeleteDesert Flower, I asked my PS too but I did not hear back yet. Do you know how much it is or any other details?
DeleteIt is called the No 2 Pencil skirt in Porcelain Paisley to be released in May and approximately $158. I forgot to note this on your blog AJC. Sorry again!
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI'm really liking the sunlit antique paisley print...but I don't wear shorts. I would love to see a pencil skirt in this print.
ReplyDeleteI like the Lucille dress in hot pink...and the blouson collection dress also caught my eye...just not at that price for polyester.
I picked up the leather monas in brocade blue (139.99 but not showing up final sale/ other colors are showing up as promo priced at $168) as well as the Tessa top in dazzling sun as my ridealong. I debated the linen tippi but I'm up to four Tippis and I might need a break from that silhouette.
On my list for sure the Collection pleated blouson dress
ReplyDeleteI love the navy/pink featherweight colorblock cardigan, tessa top, silk bow camis, stripe vintage cotton tank and the bandanna tank. I usually love bright florals but not sure how I feel about the garden floral. Might pick up the scarf in person. Of course I thought I didn't like the paintbox floral but jumped too late when the cardigan went to sale.
ReplyDeleteI have also wanted a jersey lomellina swim suit for a few years now but never could decide on a color and top cut that would actually be flattering. I love the new purple and bright berry bikini tops but wish the criscross halter had a tie back. Can anyone comment on the material's thickness/durability? Will probably be biting the bullet on one of these, a seersucker, or the anchors aweigh bikini soon.
Meg,
DeleteI got a Lomellina swimsuit a couple of years ago and it was lovely. The fabric is wonderful. Smooth, matte, light-weight and luxurious. It really flatters the body because it goes on so smoothly. I won't give you any advise on what style to get because I think that depends on your body type. HTH.
Thank you!
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteI've ordered Lomellina suits for the past two years also and I absolutely adore them. Everything Greta said is true and what's more, the quality has remained constant. I have just ordered one this year to see if that's still true. If so, it'll bring my total Lomellina suits to 8!
DeleteI bought my first Lomellina suit last year (basic black) and can echo the statements above...I have the one shoulder tank (gorgeous suit, just not really ideal for sunbathing without some adjusting) and it is incredibly flattering.
DeleteJust received the Lomellina bikini that I ordered, the ruffle top and string hipster, and they fit exactly like the older versions. Same amazing fit.
DeleteI can't reply for some reason, so new post. AJC, my personal shopper says it is called the Porcelain Paisley skirt, will come in sizes 00-14and will be about $160. She didn't have fabric content. Its due to roll out in late May. If your PS gives you more information, please post!
ReplyDeletethank you Desert Flower!
DeleteThis may be more appropriate in the 'Vent' section, but does anybody else think it's just wrong that J Crew isn't honoring the FREESHIP code? I don't care if it was a mistake and wasn't supposed to be up there, they should still accept it. Because it was their mistake, we the customers are the ones who suffer? Doesn't seem right to me. If it was their mistake they should eat the loss and still allow it for the day. It would do a world of good in promoting good will with so many customers who are already unhappy with J Crew's sneaky moves.
ReplyDeleteI agree, and if they're not going to honor it, for Pete's sake take it down already!!
DeleteFREESHIP still showing up on my phone. SerIously? Take it down!
DeleteOh, I also thought I should mention this past weekend I bought a pencil skirt *identical* to the new No.2 Seersucker skirt in Ann Taylor Factory for only $35 on clearance. Super cute at a fraction of the cost!
ReplyDeleteI ordered everything on this Polyvore set except the shoes and the tank top:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.polyvore.com/favorite_crew_new_arrivals/set?id=47452001
GULP.
Surely I won't be keeping it all. Dresses rarely fit me since I'm much smaller on top, but I wanted to at least give the gingham one a try.
I picked the dullest colors J. Crew has to offer because I look totally washed out in anything bright colored.
I spend a lot at J. Crew, but my return rate has got to be close to 50% on average. I almost always return at least one item per order, so there's incentive to order a bunch of stuff to try. I wonder if they'll cut me off one of these days.
And now my shopping hiatus commences!
Seriously considering the featherweight cashmere striped boatneck tee in green, silk bow cami in kelly green and the Altuzarra Patricia dress (like I don't have enough stripes in my closet). I think the colorblock silk v-back dress could be a knockout but I'd definitely need to try it on first.
ReplyDeleteEnded up ordering the snakeskin belt in sheer mint (it'll work well with all my stripes) and a bunch of factory items on promo (the 30% off applies). I got the factory stripe blouson dress in azalea (it's poly though so I'm still debating it) and all three colors of the lace-over tank to try.
DeleteLooked through the new arrivals. I really like the Margate Satchel and a few of the lower-priced dresses. But man, the site really is a mess today.
ReplyDeleteAnd an annoyance/genuine question: why are some things, like the Kimono Sleeve Maxi Dress and the Jersey striped Maxi Skirt 100% rayon? What's with the complete absence of any natural fibers? I hate rayon; it doesn't breathe.
I am wondering the same thing about the rayon. Not only does it not breathe, it also looks like complete hell after one wash. Rayon seems to be really popular these days with clothing manufacturers, unfortunately. I have seen countless adorable jersey tops in TJ Maxx but put them back as soon as I saw the "100% Rayon" and "Dry clean only" tags. Why would I want to dry clean a jersey knit?
DeleteI wish J.Crew would go back to the super substantial, non pilling jersey they used in 2009 and 2010... the type used in the Dressy jersey dresses. It was lovely.
LOVE the Margate satchel!
ReplyDeleteOff topic, but I couldn't see this discussed in any of yesterday's comments... sorry if this is a repeat!
ReplyDeleteGot the postcard/email about the Vancouver store opening on May 25. It says if you spend over $300 you'll get a "special gift" (while quantities last).
Anyone have experience with this, or an idea of what the gift might be? I'm not loving the idea of heading downtown to brave a crush of people for a store opening but if the gift's a good 'un I might.
However, knowing what I know about the prices being jacked up in Canada, I still plan to order stuff from the US and pick it up in Point Roberts. I rarely get charged the duty/taxes on the way back, so I pay the lower US prices and no HST. At least now I can check out some of the merch in person before I order and avoid disappointment in the quality!!
It will probably be a shopping canvas bag or similar.
DeleteSame here... I plan to try things on here but still continue to order and ship to the US.
Mia I took your advice and had my last order shippped to Point Roberts. 45 min drive, easy border crossing,no duty on $300 . I am excited about our store because I can try things on and see everything in person and then order from the US site. This info re: the letter carrier I got from you ...so thank you. I won't brave the crowds for a canvas shopping bag but as soon as the first few days of opening mayhem are over I AM THERE! Carolyn from Vancouver
DeleteP.s Good God I hope they carry shoes...
Hey Carolyn, so glad that worked out for you! Sometimes the border waits are a pain. I usually get a tank of gas (avoid the Shell as their prices are higher) and some grocery items too while I'm there ;) I imagine sometimes you'd have to pay duty but you'd still come out ahead.
DeleteThe only time I had trouble was when I pulled up to the booth with my sunglasses still on and the guard was mad about that! She made me go inside and they went through my car with a fine-toothed comb. The irony is that I had absolutely nothing but a tank of gas - had gone down to Tsawwassen to have lunch with a friend and decided just to fill up my tank while I was so close!
Mia
DeleteWith the new $200 per day allowance starting very soon I am wondering how picky they will be. When ever I tell customs its clothing and shoes they usually wave me through. Its funny I usually have only ever had issues with female officers( probably envious of the shoes) Let us know if you go to opening day of our store. Thanks again for the tips. Carolyn from Vancouver
@just visiting,i cant reply to your answer,so i had to do a new post.
ReplyDeletei meant the wide stripe dolman sleeve stripe tee(navy, mint and orange) and it is still gone from the website.
i saw something i liked online yesterday but can't find it anywhere.
ReplyDeleteit's a t-shirt, navy (also comes in white) with a lace type insert around the neckline. i think the description said "burnout" as well. does anyone know what i am talking about and do they have the name of this item?
I think you are conflating 2 tees in one. Do a search in the search bar for the burnout tee and the lace necklace tee. Both are still on the sake section. I mean sale. I can't edit for some reason? :>
DeleteMia, it might be a souvenir tote bag that was specially designed for the event - I got one when the Toronto store opened - or it might be a coupon for % off for purchases over a certain amount. Let us know how it goes!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Louise! I don't think I'll head down for something like a tote bag, though. If I were working that day, then yeah since it's a block away - but I won't make a special trip. Maybe another reader will score the gift and let us know... :)
DeleteI posted measurements for Altuzarra Patricia Dress and Featherweight Cotton Cardigan in Colorblock if anybody is interested in ordering (same post as referenced above).

thanks, kikki cee!!!
DeleteMany thanks!
DeleteKikki Cee, thanks for the information but now I'm depressed. I was really hoping the skirt would be longer, it seemed to be in AJC's picture. Well, I might as well cancel the preorder.
ReplyDeleteJust ordered the seersucker pencil skirt. Here's hoping I love it :)
ReplyDeleteEep! Just spied the Valentina snakeskin pumps in Casablanca blue. My heart literally stopped. Must.have.now.
ReplyDeleteI'm loving a lot of the new pencil skirts: seersucker (love how they have it styled with the colorblock cardi), garden floral, and raj paisley. I like that the maxi skirt now comes in black/white stripes - that may be better for my wardrobe. The Tessa top could be good or a hot mess, but I'd love the dazzling sun if it works. And the Naomi top in polka dot. :) (AppGal, more polka dots to love and it's washable!)
ReplyDeleteI really like the anchor blouse and the heart Tippi looks interesting, but I can't tell if it's see-through or not from the picture. Also, the Altazurra striped sweater dress looks cute. And the not quite maxi maxi w/the shirred waistline looks like it could be potentially flattering.
ReplyDeleteyikes! I think that Tippi may be sheer. Talk about an unflattering pic... If it wasn't sheer and maybe in a brighter, more fun color I'd think about getting it. Dark blue with white hearts just seems rather boring.
DeleteHi Jruby, I tried the heart Tippi on in-store tonight and didn't find it to be particularly sheer. I was wearing a white bra and couldn't see it through the sweater in the fitting room lighting (sorry for the information about my bra). HTH!
DeleteThx for the info Caitlin! did you like it?
DeleteI did! It was cute and would pair easily with lots of different things.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteNot my listing, but there is a (poorly described) BIN listing on ebay for the Gilded Tweed Jacket in size 8 for only $29 shipped! This retails for $298!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately not my size, hope it goes to a JCA. Ebay item #200747056698
Love the Marci wedge. It fits perfectly and the height is very manageable. Also loving the color blocked cardigan in navy and pink, the cha cha dress, and the sequin striped tank. I was able to try the featherweight cashmere oversized tee today in neon pink. I sized down 2 sizes and though it fit, it was too short. I like the cut for an easy to wear piece and will consider for sale to layer over long sleeved tissue tees in the fall.
ReplyDeleteI love the navy/pink featherweight colorblock cardigan , anyone tried it ? please post a review ,glad I got the olympia sandals as the new ones did not catch my attention .
ReplyDeleteI wanted that Pom Pom Jaquard dress, but why the hades is it made of polyester? Couldn't it have been made of a heavier textured otton? Or cotton/silk? The price is way oo high for polyester. See this is an example of the downgrade in quality. 10 years ago that dress would have been a natural fiber. Sorry J.Crew you lost a sale from me.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to try the Lena wedges but they are already sold out in my size in the color I wanted. That is crazy since they seem really overpriced.
ReplyDelete
