This is the weekly "Help Style Me!" post, where we can share items we are having trouble putting outfits together with. Elaine (in this post) says it best, "You know, that thing you bought because you love it and you keep pulling it out and then putting it away without wearing it?"
Please share your J.Crew item (either that you own or are thinking about getting) that you would love help creating an outfit with.
Also, please help out by offering your styling advice. Feel free to include links to your blog (where you incorporated that piece) or to Polyvore (where you showcased an outfit with that piece). Thanks in advance! :)

ReplyDeleteOT, I put irl pics of the abstract leopard Fabiola at the bottom of this post.
ReplyDeleteot, but has anyone tried the factory bermuda shorts?
ReplyDeleteReviews here. HTH
DeleteI'm passing on the Fabiola after much thinking because it's too low cut for the office. I know I could layer a cami underneath. Another layer is not optimal when it's 110 degrees in Arizona. Any other ideas?
ReplyDeleteYou could wear a camisole bra, like this one. Gives the look of a camisole but without all the extra fabric. http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/natori-lace-trim-camisole-bra/3242281?origin=related-3242281-0-0-1-1. They come in various styles and you can find them at the major dept stores.
DeleteI bought the bouquet sash belt and have no clue how to wear it. Any ideas?
ReplyDeleteI'm wearing mine with my lace blouson dress.
DeleteHowever, I haven't figured out a way to wear it that's more "edgy" than cute. In the catalog they wear the flower sashes with jeans and blazers, but I could never pull that off in real life.
Hi JCAs!
ReplyDeleteThis is not about a specific piece, but more of a strategy. I'm 14 weeks postpartum and am also transitioning from full-time office work to WAHM. What did you JCA moms wear after baby? I'd like to do better than sweatpants, but don't need to be in pencil skirts (not that I could fit in them anyway!).
Thanks!
silver_lining: I shared some of the outfit options that worked for me postpartum in this post. :)
DeleteCongratulations!!!
Deletesilver_lining - This is a blog I love to check out for great mommy style: http://www.aintnomomjeans.com
DeleteHope that helps!
Hi silver_lining, welcome back! Hope all went well with your delivery, good to see you again. I've missed your comments. :^)
ReplyDeleteCass, thank you! Great idea. I don't know such things existed.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back silver_lining!
ReplyDeletePostpartum, I wore dark denim trousers and cotton jersey wrap tops by Velvet/Graham & Spencer in brighter colours, and a few nicer looking tops from Zara. I also wore jersey wrap front dresses (also Velvet/Graham & Spencer, and from J. Crew's summer collection). It was comfortable and dressier than jeans & tee or yoga wear.
Don't need style help - hoping someone can help me find an online pic (for polyvore) of a cascade front striped cardigan I purchased from J Crew retail last year. same shape as this factory cardigan but white and royal blue stripe.

Is this it?

Yes - A million thanks
DeleteIn case you were lucky enough to pick up the cafe capri in wool, especially for the super discounted price right now, and want to get some styling ideas, here's my polyvore set.
ReplyDeleteI bought the feather paisley talitha blouse...love at first sight. Anyone have any suggestions on what to wear on the bottom, besides navy cafe capris or a navy pencil? I'm not sure that I can do the feather paisley pencil skirt, feels too contrived. Also, what shoes? I think I really need the neon peach drea heels, but I'm not sure that I would get enough wear out of them...TIA for your advice!!
ReplyDeleteYou can wear white, brown, beige, modern red (orange), and even vibrant flame on the bottom. Neon peach dreas would look smashing with any of the bottoms (maybe except with the vibrant flame).
Deletesilver_lining, congratulations! Hope you are enjoying motherhood, and that your little one is sleeping well!
ReplyDeleteThis isn't a styling tip, but I do have one suggestion. Shower everyday. Even if you put the yoga pants back on and have a wet ponytail, it is AMAZING what a shower can do for your overall state of mind.
Buttondown shirts with a nursing cami and skinnies (yes, mine were maternity...but that's okay) were my outfit of choice postpartum. Ballets, scarves, lipgloss and cute sunglasses helped hide the dark circles, and made me feel a little bit chic at the preschool pick up.
Congratulations, Silver Lining! Sunglasses and concealer, new best friends.
