"Thanks!" to many of you, including Genny (in this post), Summer (in this post), as well as Marietta & Ketan, who shared the following update this morning.
J.Crew has brought back the "Final" to their Summer Sale (click here to shop Final Sale online). Many JCAs predicted the "Final Sale" would be back after the last 30% off promotion, but that wasn't the case. Oh J.Crew, how you keep us on our toes! ;)
J.Crew also sent an email stating that Final Sale extends to brick & mortar (B&M) stores. (Right now, they are offering 20% off Final Sale. Not sure how long this promotion will last.)
I was hoping for a promotion today, but this wasn't it. ;)
Will you be checking out the Sale section? Are there any items you are hoping to see or to get? Does your local B&M have "final sale" as well?
Final Sale??? What about the email that was sent out a few months back clearly stating END OF FINAL SALE???
ReplyDeleteMy store (Georgetown) still had 20% off as of yesterday
What's up with the cheap shoes in the sale section? Ballet flats for $21! I wonder if they will fit my wide feet.
ReplyDeleteDamn. It figures I just placed a $27 order yesterday and it's already shipped out. I see a few things that have come down in price by $5 or $10 since yesterday, plus a few popbacks...hmmm. Liking that sequin necklace tank at $29.99! ARRGGHH
ReplyDeleteOooh! They have a new feature that says CHAT with a personal shopper! COOL!!!
ReplyDeleteMy store (North Ave, Chicago) still had 20% off yesterday too.
ReplyDeleteIs there any way to see new markdowns all at once? Anyone know a way?
Hi Lizzy - unfortunately, they don't have a "new to sale" section so you have to sift through by category. It's a pain. Also, I don't think they've updated the sale section as of yet because there are a lot of new markdowns or second cuts that only show up if you search by item.
ReplyDeleteI was also hoping for a promo today (I missed the 30% off while on vacation at Disney). This is a bummer. Several of my items got another markdown though (yay!), so now as soon as they offer some type of promo, I'll be ordering.
ReplyDeleteDo you think they'll have another promotion soon? I've been sifting through categories (yes, painful!) and found lots of new stuff (oak tweed skirt, a great scarf, etc), but I'd like to wait for another % off. What do you think?
ReplyDeletePersonally, I think that since a lot of stuff has just been marked down, they'll want to see how much sells before adding an additional % off.
ReplyDeleteHa, I just got the FS email that says "Turn 'wants' into 'haves'"... meaning, now that you have it you're stuck with it! ;)
I decided a while back that I'm not buying final sale. Unless I'm absolutely certain it will work and fit, such as a duplicate of something I've already tried on or own, there is no way. I can't lose money by being stuck with something that doesn't work for me, and to add insult to injury, I have to pay the high shipping charges in order to even take the chance. Not going to happen.
ReplyDeleteI won't be surprised if they had a 4th of July promo on Friday. Maybe not 30% off but 20%?
ReplyDeleteEleine, I highly reccomend the sequin necklace tank, it's very pretty IRL and fits TTS.
I was hoping for an additional % off too! My store last night still had 20% off...nothing but tees left though.
ReplyDeleteKdot- Thanks for the heads up on the ballet flats for $21- I picked up a pair as well as a pair of the estella Espadrilles for $21- what a deal! I also could not resist the Gabby Hobo- I have been waiting for this one to go on sale FOREVER! But only a few items in my cart showed FS- the Gabby did not.
ReplyDeleteStrange - I just placed an order, but nothing had the dreaded FINAL SALE notice...
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone have the cashmere crewneck? Does it fit TTS? Do you recommend? I want it in blush stone, but the apricot is on sale for $59.99.
ReplyDeleteNot excited about the final sale. Does anyone know how the Embroidered ikat pencil skirt fits? I was hoping to pick it up soon but now with the Final Sale looming I need to be certain.
ReplyDeleteJenLynn, it runs TTS to small. There is no give in the skirt so if between sized I would size up. It is VERY pretty.
ReplyDelete:( What happens when you get shipped the wrong size? Often, I get stuff that is clearly the wrong size despite saying it is a "small" (which I wanted.) This happens frequently, and I'm always able to call, but now...?
ReplyDeleteI did not want to bite but I did...
ReplyDeleteI bought the boatneck ladder stitch cashmere sweater (which I LOVE and already have two of) in apricot... I've never even seen this color before.
I took a risk ordering the chiffon petals cashmere cardigan... it was marked down to $79.00. I hope the XS fits properly.
I bought the "convertible belt" for $12.99 just to use my free shipping code since I was a dollar off.
Lizzy T, I have the cashmere crewneck (long-sleeve and short)... I would say the long-sleeve cashmere crewneck runs a little looser than the short sleeved one somehow. I would say they're both ever so slightly big, depending on how you like things to fit... but I would order true to size.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info, Ema! I'm torn on whether to place an order. I have 3 things in my cart. I'm headed to the store shortly, but I don't want these things to sell out before I can order.... urgh. I just have a feeling that the in-store price will be higher than the online sale price. That's usually the case for me. ARGH
ReplyDeleteThose $21 flats are total tease. Too bad I am not 11M. Final Sale? One word- despicable!
ReplyDeleteI really hate Final Sale at J.Crew and always have. The sizing is so incredibly inconsistent and the quality so *hit or miss* on every single item, that I don't feel they even have the right to implement it.
ReplyDeleteHuh, funny how the introduction of FINAL SALE corresponds with my sale purchase total at J.Crew moving to $0. Also funny how I'm suddenly less interested in their new stuff too...
ReplyDeleteWell, this is helpful in me NOT spending any more money for a while during my self-mandated shopping ban. Thanks J.Crew!
ReplyDeleteLet's add this up: In the past month we've had a 20% off + free shipping and then 30% off + FS ... and now we get Final Sale, with shipping (at least if it's under $150) ... yeah, to me, this is j.crew trying to unload, permanently, the stuff people didn't bite on during the past month's of sales... no thank you.
ReplyDeleteI hate FINAL SALE! Laziness on JC's part to put new markdowns in the same section. I've been burned too much by FS so I'm staying away from it unless I know it fits for sure.
ReplyDeleteIt gets tricky with shoes since the fits varies by style.
I would only place an order if we get a promo for extra % off promo with free shipping.
Final Sale is just not good practice when the sizing is inconsistent and all over the place. No thank you.... the only way I'll purchase something is if I get to try it on at the b&m first. I just can't believe that FS is back right before a holiday weekend, when other retailers are offering significant % off, and the option of returns!
ReplyDeletei just ordered the indigo microstripe shirt and stripe cotton popover from the sale and neither were marked "final sale" on my order confirmation. hooray!
ReplyDeleteNope, won't do Final Sale. And it's totally sneaky of them to add a few new skirts today! But I'm still not going to bite. It's not worth it.
ReplyDeleteKDot - did you buy the flats? I saw that it said $21 on the main page, but once I clicked on the shoes the price said $89.
LizzyT - I bought 3 (!) of the cashmere crewneck T's during the 30% off promo. They were only $42, so I felt like it was worth it! I know I'll get lots of use out of them. I feel like they run TTS, maybe a little bit bigger, but that way you can layer a shirt underneath if you want.
OT but related to a sale: The Lands End Canvas sale now has many more items marked down (certain colors only for some items). Was able to google free shipping code
ReplyDeletetoo (code=JULY1 and pin=2180). Have not tried out the FS code yet.
Thanks for the input on the cashmere crewnecks. Any feedback on colors? I like the blush stone, but for $125, I'm not sure of the color. How about the sale colors? Ugh. I hate final sale.
ReplyDeleteLizzy- I bought some from the 30% off promo. I got the "neon" peach, navy and sienna. the sienna color is more "faded" than strong, but i'm keeping as it will be a good fall sweater. I liked the "neon" colors, they are deep and rich looking, not zingy like those kiwi chino shorts I got & returned ;-D
ReplyDeleteHas anyone tried the chino bubble skirt?
ReplyDeleteKaren, last fall I ordered a final sale cashmere sweater that I was sure was mislabeled--it was 4" bigger at the hem than my other JC cashmere tees. The CSA insisted that it matched the measurements for a small and that it was supposed to fit that way. (In addition, there was the issue of the sweater being deceptively tucked and pinned in the photograph if it really was "supposed to fit that way.")
ReplyDeleteI had to throw a real hissy fit and use up my "one-time courtesy" to be allowed to return it, and in response to my follow-up e-mail I got a pretty luke-warm response telling me to call for measurements if I wasn't sure about my size. As if *I'm* not sure, LOL! Because there is no way that they could have inconsistent sizing or misleadingly photographed garments!
(Also, it's hard to take the time to call for measurements when I see that pop-back I've been stalking!)
I understand that retailers need to clear out old merchandise and don't want customers returning it later. But if sales are final I wish the customer could rely on consistent sizing and accurate photos.
Today is my last day to shop (July is no-spendy for me) and I wake up to this. Ah well. Totally cooled off my interest. Buh-bye J. Crew for a while, as if you will notice. I do not shop Final Sale!
ReplyDeleteOT: can someone comment on the distressed Mary Jane heel height? Are they comfortable shoes?
ReplyDeletei'm debating whether or not to buy. i have the 20% off code w/o free shipping and am pining for the jersey shirred racerback gown... but one color is already on sale, should i expect the others to follow soon!?
ReplyDeleteSale watch in full effect ... Crabtree Mall in Raleigh, NC is offering an extra 20% off all sale prices, so I was glad I went in before I ordered online and paid $15 in shipping!
ReplyDeleteFirst off, there are a few Jaipur perfect shirts there. Not sure what sizes but there were at least 5 that I saw. Also a sunshine peonies pencil skirt in size 8, several impressionist floral pencil skirts, the Dauphine tweed jacket in a size 8 is still there (at $99 - 20% it's a STEAL, someone call and get it, please!) ... and most of the other usual suspects from the sale racks.
I got a boatload of stuff, but I also discarded a lot. I was soooo hopeful fot the purple/yellow tie-dyed sleeveless blouse with the attached necktie, but even though it had no dreaded side zip, it was a HUGE fail. Literally. I had to size down 2 sizes -- it's just A-line and that's all there is to it. :-/ They had a few strapless dresses in that print and lots of tops.
I found my sequin necklace tank, which i LOVE in warm mushroom, but I have to go pick up my size at a different store later.
Found a suckered gingham perfect shirt in the sea green color, love it! Also bought a brushed stripe top, the one with the intermittent sequins on it. Runs TTS. I wanted the bronzed clay, but they didn't have it, so I got the Natural one instead.
Hm, what else ... a black/ivory striped tank that I can't find on the Web site, just sort of a classic piece, that was marked down to $19.99.
That might be it for me -- I also got my son 2 Crewcuts tees and a cute hat with a skull & crossbones on it.
All told, with 20% off, my total was about $116. I'm happy! Can't wait to hit the other store later and see what goodies they have. :-)
I ended up discarding the Seaside Madras shirt, even though with the sale it'd only be $24 ... something about the muddiness of the madras bugged me. Also the Spots & Sparkles cami, which is still online at $49.99 but was marked down to $19.99 at my store. I tried to love it but couldn't.
HTHs someone!
Has anyone seen the coral Jackie IRL? It looks bright orange on my computer. What color is it, really?
ReplyDeleteHi girls!
ReplyDeleteI know this is final sale and there are no additional discounts, but some really great stuff was added. I ended up getting the fleurette pencil skirt, the space dyed Henley and the prism necklace. I know I won't be able to return them, but these are all pieces that I own already in some form :)
More like "turn wants into no-ways" - for me, at least
ReplyDeleteSpace-dyed cardigan--I got it on the last 30% off promo; size small. It seems big/long on me. Did people size down on this? TIA!
ReplyDeleteCan anyone comment on the Castillo eyelet cami? sizing, sheerness?
ReplyDelete(I wear a 4 in the perfect shirts, but have been getting xs in the tanks, so maybe a 2?)
Thanks!
Kat, I didn't buy the shoes. From what I've heard about J Crew shoes, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't fit my wide feet. It was early in the morning and there were about 5 different colors of flats in all sizes. I imagine they sold out pretty quickly.
ReplyDeleteFinal sale and shoes I would not buy either. I had to return several pair and I bought my usual size from past season...odd and irregular...not something to chance unless it was flip flops even for $21
ReplyDeleteKaren: I sized down on my Space dyed cardigans. I love them but oh my they are so delicate. Be careful of sequins or any thing that can get caught and snag. I was so upset when one of my sleeve got caught on the velcro of my diaper bag...
ReplyDeleteFinal Sale sucks!!! Pardon my outburst... *sigh* I entertained myself by thinking about what would work this fall, and loaded up my shopping cart with 2 cashmere l/s crewnecks(summer hyacinth and sepia) plus 2 tie dye perfect shirts (in indigo and pink). Did a mock check out, and found the courage to empty the cart. MUST resist the crewlade...
ReplyDeleteAll shopped out with the recent sales at JC, LE, EB and AE (tees, shorts, crops...) Putting myself on a ban till later in the year when I unpack my fall/winter wardrobe and see which pieces need to be replaced... or at least until the Fall merch goes on sale.
I agree with mommydearest. I wish J.Crew wouldn't act like customers actually like and want final sale.
ReplyDeleteI stopped by the b&m to pick up the Oak Tweed Pencil skirt. With the extra 20% it came out to $47.99.
ReplyDeleteHeaded to DC for the long holiday weekend, and meeting up with a few of the DC JCA's for some shopping. So until then, I am done! Hope to score a deal or two while in DC. :-)
Em, I agree. There are plenty of retailers that are offering much better sales with the option to return. Final sale says to me that JC doesn't stand behind its merchandise, and if the customer is dissatisfied well, that's their problem. I could maybe deal with that if I was taking a chance on a 6-month old item for $9.99, but not a piece of questionable quality/sizing that's $99.99 on its first markdown! They may as well just call it the "we're desperate to get rid of some this crap" sale.
ReplyDeleteI simply detest Final Sale, but despite that, I caved. They marked down 3 of the pencil skirts I was eyeing. Got the Fleurette, Ink Blossom, and Oak Tweed.
ReplyDeleteI read the Fleurette was running small, but I used thier on-line chat to get garment measurements, and according to CS my regular size measured the same as some of my other size 2 pencil skirts. If I get it, and the meaurements don't match what CS told me, do I have grounds to dispute a Final Sale return?
I'm such a sale ho....I hopped out to the mall in Southpoint to pick up my sequin necklace tee (warm mushroom) ... ooooh do I love it! I also got the golden knot necklace -- didn't like it online, but IRL it's quite shimmery and pretty! -- and a pair of shorts, plus another broken-in polo for my hub.
ReplyDeleteAnd that is IT for a while, man! Might even have to skip my usual trip to Montgomery Mall & KoP when I'm in Philly this weekend! lol
I agree with others. No customer likes or wants Final Sale!
ReplyDeleteI don't go crazy and shop. There are better deals to be had elsewhere and I can return if needed.
Passing for sure. No excitement here!
Me neither. No final sale for me unless I personally tried them on in B&M.
ReplyDeleteSounds like B&M has additional % off anyway, plus no shipping charges.
Anyone noticed the JCA Monday sale posts usually surge the week after final sale ends?
Just went to the Rockefeller Center Store in NYC and it was crazed! However, they had the additional 20% off and I got some really good items that were just marked down and those too had the additional 20% off. Saved a lot!!! Can't wait to wear the clothes.
ReplyDeletenow if only we could get j. crew to do something about their shipping charges especially for card holders!
got starfish dress on sale plus 20%off at Century City location in LA
ReplyDeletei did just place an order for the shirred jersey racerback dress (not sale), vintage matchstick cords (sale, but not marked final sale at checkout), & some pirate tees for my boys (marked final sale at checkout). the inconsistencies in sale/final sale is a bit crazy. i used the 20% off catalog code, and if i could have used the FS code i would have bought more stuff... does that not matter to jcrew?
ReplyDeleteI really kind of can't believe that they're holding the line on their shipping charges. They're literally the ONLY ones who don't offer free shipping to their cardholders (hello, BR Luxe, i heart you!) OR at least free shipping with a reasonable minimum (ie, drugtsore.com, $25 for free ship offers)!
ReplyDeleteThere's just no excuse. Don't tell me it costs the same to ship a $99 necklace as it costs to ship a $99 coat. That's just bull. GRRRRRRRRR.
I'm glad I took my chances in-store instead of ordering online this morning.
But daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaang, there is so much final sale hate here! Wow. I'd never buy anything I hadn't at least tried on or seen in person -- do all y'all final sale opponents have no store nearby where you can check stuff out? Or is it just the whole idea of straight up not being able to return that irks you?
I'm just not sure I understand. ... I have gotten a few bums in final sale before but have called CS and never once been denied the ability to return or exchange a FS item, even one I ordered by mistake.
Looking forward to hearing your responses!
Just swung in my store and lots of new goodies on sale! Skip online and head to a store!
ReplyDelete*Ombré paillette cardi(27176)$59.99+ 20%
*Tissue Sequin Tank (26046)$39.99 + 20%
*Ink Blossom Studded Tunic (26155) $59.99 + 20%
Lots more but these are just a few new markdowns I noticed:)
Provided it works on sale merchandise, does anyone have an extra 20% code from the July catalog they don't plan on using? If so, please please email darashapiro(at)gmail. Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteJust pulled the trigger on the Tailored Denim Pencil Skirt -- this one has been in my cart for ages and finally decided to get it based on some recent raves here; ditto for the Signature Black Leggings, which I never considered buying from JC until I saw your reviews.
ReplyDeleteI was THRILLED to see the En Plein Air scarf popback and snatched it up for $19.99...I'm praying it ships!
Added the Merino Open Cardigan as a ride-along to get the $150 min free ship. Anyone have reviews on this one? I figure I can't go wrong with a black merino cardi for $59.
And NOTHING in my cart was marked "final sale". Let's hope I don't need to test that out.
Hey! There's an extra 20% off in stores, not online and does include in store sale cashmere.
ReplyDeleteClicquot- The En Plein scarf is also available in stores for $19.99 +20% just in case it does not show up- I picked one up today:) Super cute
ReplyDeleteOT - I just had to rave about my LLBean Signature Farnsworth dress that came in the mail today. It is beautifully made. The material is a really nice woven jacquard. It totally reminds me of something we would have seen before from J Crew. I am in dress heaven. Take a look.
ReplyDeleteHow long is the final sale going to last?
ReplyDeleteThe free shipping code HB567L WORKS! It saved me over $23 in shipping (and made the bill look less intimidating by making it under $300)!
ReplyDeleteI just stumbled upon your blog and will be an avid follower now!
Thanks for the secret promo code... wish there was more of a discount on the final sale but oh well!
Hi Elaine. I'll respond to your question. Yes, I do have a store locally, but there is only one, and it is very, very small. They also do not carry shoes. Plus, my store does not carry my size: XL or 14. So I am forced to order everything I like. I usually wait until there is a free ship code to do so. Then I end up using the orders as a try-on session, which is wasteful to all involved in terms of time, resources, tying up authorizations for returns on my credit card, tying up funds on mty credit card, etc. I return everything I don't like to the store. So, unless I order every single thing I might be interested in to try on, then return and wait for sale, I will have no idea how an item works come final sale time.
ReplyDeleteSo I never do final sale. Never. I'd but a lot more on sale if I could return and the shipping prices were a flat fee. I feel penalized as a customer because J.Crew's store is not shoppable for me. So, guess what? I rarely shop. Anthro gets my shopping dollars.
I rushed to my B&M after work and was so happy to get the Fleurette pencil skirt! I have been eyeing it since it came out (which has only been a few weeks?!) and am so excited I was able to score one! $60 + 20% off=$48! Nothing else caught my eye or was left in my size though :(
ReplyDeleteHi Elaine! I agree with some of Jackie's points - I am 5 miles from a B&M but they do not carry shoes/bags/jewelry, plus the pieces they have are limited in size (very few XS). As luck would have it 9 times out of 10 the items I'm interested in are catalog/.com only.
ReplyDeleteI'll be honest, part of the thrill of buying from JC is admiring the catalogs and online pics. I rarely buy from the store because of how the pieces that they do have look. The SA's have told me that they get shipments of sale merch that other stores were trying to unload, so the sale selection is huge, but the pieces are so shopworn from being handled. It's like a reality check when I go to to the store and therefore I tend to stay online for my purchases.
My JC purchasing has decreased steadily since winter 2008, and I only made 1 order for the month of June (and ended up returning the entire thing). Perhaps my expectations are too high, but I've been increasingly disappointed by quality, construction, and fit and just can't take that Final Sale chance. I can hope things will change in the future but there are plenty of other retailers out there if they don't.
Just as another response to Elaine--although I do have a store in my state, it's hard to get there--it's an hour away from my house, my job is an hour away in the opposite direction, and I work a lot, so it's hard to get there. Plus, as much as I love clothes, I hate malls, so I prefer to shop online (for everything) whenever possible.
ReplyDeleteAs noted in my previous post in this thread, I've had difficulties with inconsistent JC sizing and items not as depicted due to pinning or similar. Then there are the little "surprises" that aren't mentioned in the item description, like a raw edge in lieu of a proper hem.
I've been happy with some great deals on final sale, so I won't swear I'll never do it, but I've also been burned, which makes me cautious about my selections.
I'm with you silver_lining. I have been ordering *a lot* less recently, continuing a steady decline for well over a year now. The quality, fit and style just don't seem to meet my expectations like they used to. I've got a stack of gift cards from recent returns from multiple orders. Nothing I want bad enough to risk final sale.
ReplyDeleteThis is an OT question:
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know if the Banana/Gap/OldNavy rewards cards can be combined towards one purchase or do they have to be used separately?
I have two and would like to redeem them together.
TIA!
Elaine, I agree with others that have said they don't buy from final sale unless they have tried something on. That is my policy as well. I buy 99% of my jcrew at the clearance store in north carolina, which is glorious... but for the things they don't get, I have to either buy FP and return and wait for a sale, or hope they get it at my local store which is 40 min away and doesn't carry shoes, bags, or jewelry... and I wear mostly tall sizes! The fact that (I'd guess) only about 20% of their merchandise actually appears in most stores (no petites, no talls, not very much cashmere, not very many coats, very little swim, no collection stuff in most stores) makes it ridiculous that they have final sale. Buying something sight unseen for 30% off the retail price and not being able to return it just is not appealing!!
ReplyDeleteHi Penny - yes, you can use them together. I think I've used several at a time.
ReplyDeletexoxo - so if you haven't been shopping at JC, where are you getting clothes from? ;) I've been able to get some great stuff at Gap (but it's also hit or miss) and just recently discovered Anthropologie thanks to all the lovely JCA recs on this blog!
Wow, I had no idea there were varying levels of J Crew stores, like some that have no shoes and/or jewelry. Every one I've ever been into at least had a smattering of shoes, and always a decent jewelry selection. That stinks!
ReplyDeleteJacquelyn, what on earth is your store's excuse for not carrying your size? They're losing money by not stocking things you could be buying! That would be so aggravating, I'd probably not go into the store at all.
Em, I'm in NC as well, but nowhere near the outlet. Hoping to get to the one in Arden at some point (is that the one you go to?) ...
Thanks all!
Elaine
Jacquelyn, I don't think any stores carry size 14. I believe it's an online only size, other than the occasional return.
ReplyDeleteHi everyone! Do any of you own the Tasca Zip Cardigan? I am wondering about the sizing and fit. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteDo you think they will have a % off promo this weekend? I'm so torn ... I want to order a few things, but I'm holding out for one more sale. What do you think?
ReplyDeletesilver_lining, I am buying more at local boutiques lately, a lot of great items from Kersh, Velvet, Mexx, InWear, Clu and Vero Moda, among others. I've also found some cute things at Benetton and although their offerings are limited I did get a fantastic cotton-knit argyle sweater dress there this spring that is TDF cute, incredibly comfortable and very well made. They do love their preppy at Benetton and have had tons of argyle sweaters and jersey dresses lately, as well as feminine blouses and pants.
ReplyDeleteI also found a nice cotton-cashmere sweater like the JC piped and twisted cardi, only much more refined and lower-priced, at Tommy Hilfiger a month or so ago. I sent the piped and twisted back after scoring the TH beauty and have been wearing it lot without any pilling. :^) TH also had a cute sailor-stripe 3/4 sleeve tee that was very fitted and flattering, as well as cream and black plaid capri pants that are in a 1950's body-skimming style that fit like a dream. I usually stop in to Benetton and TH only once a year but totally scored these and other items when I went this spring.
I also shop Club Monaco, which has been a little disappointing this season but I often find both classic and trendy items there. I did pick up a couple of knit jersey pencil skirts there recently. Comfortable, classic office wear for summer.
Other shops that I believe are Canada-only are Tristan and Aritzia. Tristan especially has Canadian-made clothing that is dressy/business and dressy/casual for reasonable prices and you can return any time, no questions asked, if the tags are still on. Aritzia is more trendy and features designer denim in a lot of styles, it's a great place to go for a new pair of designer jeans, often on deep discount if they are from just one season past. I have Rock & Republic and Sevens that I bought at Aritzia for about 1/4 the original price.
I do buy some designer label items as well, but I have to pick and choose to fit my budget, but have been happy with the few items I bought recently. Of course designer items are a different animal than J.Crew, I only mention it because that's part of my shopping these days.
It takes considerable time to go out and find new shops, learn new brands and try things on. It's much easier to shop online with a familiar brand and I'm sure J.Crew banks on that. I'm keeping myself open to options, especially now that it is summer and I want to be out and about. We don't even have J.Crew retail stores in Canada so there is motivation to get out and explore other options.
Lizzy T - I have the cashmere tee in a couple colors and take a S in it (34c). I'm currently 10 lbs bigger than my average weight, but the S I recvd yesterday fits nicely as the ones from a year or two ago. I was afraid I'd need a M. I say if you're on the smaller side chestwise, go with your regular size or you'd be ok to size down one. Esp if you prefer your items more fitted than loose. I got the sepia color and even though it's close to my skin color, I love it.
ReplyDeleteLaurie - I just recvd the Tasca yesterday in black M. I was really worried it would be too big, but it fits nicely. Since it's a v-neck and has the zippers, I will probably wear the sweater closed more than open to show off the zippers. It's a long featherweight cardi, but not too long. It just has the zippers for flair.
JCAs - If you're eyeing the ruffle rogue dress I just reviewed it in this post.
Thanks GiGi. Exactly the info I was looking for.
ReplyDeleteHi All,
ReplyDeleteThey added a ton of stuff to the sale section (incl some charcoal jackies, the zebra blakely dress...). I did a mock check out and only a few items were marked final sale.
Ugh, I caved since there was a huge update this morning. Not sure if any of the items will actually ship though, that's another story but all 3 things did say in red, "final sale" next to them.
ReplyDeleteI landed some pretty good deals yesterday at my B&M. Got the cotton calvary skirt in neon peach for $15 and the piped & twisted cardi in navy for $40. Both are cut pretty large so I did have to drop down a size.
ReplyDelete:( I don't have a B&M near by and I'm missing the additional 20% off on Final Sales :(
ReplyDeleteC'mon JCrew, give us a holiday sale tomorrow!
Elaine, yes the one in Arden. Their prices are shockingly low. The monthly warehouse sales are like a gold mine! It is bad for my wallet but at least I am getting more bang for my buck... at least that's what I tell myself.

ReplyDeletethere truly was a huge update in the boys section. if you fit size 14 boys, check it out. (or if you have little men)
ReplyDeleteI went into my b&m today to make a return, and I saw that they were having 20% off all *jewelry*. I was sorely tempted to take a look, seeing as I have very few j. crew jewelry pieces, but I restrained myself...
ReplyDeleteI ended up buying the 3/4 sleeve stretch (haberdashery) shirt in wild blackberry for $16 after final sale promo (whoo hoo!). I was surprised at how well this shirt worked for my build, because I always run into trouble with the perfect shirts; I need to buy a size 8 in order to accommodate my 34D chest, but the lower half of my torso is a size 6... The stretch shirt solved my problem, and for $16, I am quite happy with this purchase (even if it is FS).
I also bought the seersucker cropped zipper pant for $24. "Cropped" for me, however, means that it hits at the lower part of my ankles because I'm 5'1" :P But I'm not complaining--they're a nice pair of summery pants (very lightweight and warm weather-friendly), and I don't mind the loud gold zippers.
I tried on the perfect-fit stripe boatneck tee, which I absolutely loved, but amazingly did not get because I restricted myself to sale-only. I really do love the neckline of it--so flattering!
Lastly, I saw some skimmer pants in a variety of colors. Some colors were going for $29.99, the rest for $39.99, I think.
HTH!
Em - Regarding the monthly warehouse sales at the place in Arden....are they the same time every month? (i.e. the last weekend of the month)
ReplyDeleteI'm looking at planning a trip down there, but, MAN, I'd love to hit it during a extra % off! Bonus!
TIA!
