Offer valid in J.Crew stores and at jcrew.com only and valid through Sunday, June 27, 2010, 11:59pm ET.Much like the last few time (for knits & tees, as well as pants), I am loving that this offer is automatically applied (no need to input a code). Although this time, they are *not* throwing in free shipping with this offer. Ah well! :)
Will you be taking advantage of this promotion? If so, what items are you planning to get. Please share! :)
Like that new banner, Alexis! Pretty!
ReplyDeleteAgainst my better judgement, I'm going to use this promo to get the vintage bateau tee in Camel. It looked terrible on my when I was my usual pasty pink color, but with a light tan, I think I'll love it. And since it ran a little big/loose IMO, I'm going to size down to a Small and hope it works. It won't ship until the end of August, though, which is a bummer.
Unless someone has one they want to unload? *bats eyelashes*
That's it, though. I swear. Nothing else! I seriously can't even SEE the tees on the site or in the store anymore. My eyes don't see them. It's like a defense mechanism. lol
I would like to use this for a few items, anyone have a free ship code?
ReplyDeleteI ordered the Haya two toned pullover in Oatmeal, I have stopped buying their flimsy holey tees.
ReplyDeleteJust the promotion I was waiting for! I bought the perfect-fit stripe boatneck tee in navy. I'm a sucker for anything striped. Always have been.
ReplyDeletei was hoping the the jackies would have been considered "knits". they aren't.
ReplyDeletebecause of that, this is a pass for me.
Just venting right now. I am frankly getting tired of JCrew and their antics. I sent an email about my rewards points to their credit card customer service yesterday. They respond telling me to contact JCrew directly, which I did. Now I get an email telling me that they can't help and I need to contact WFNNB. Seriously? I have noticed that their customer "service" is seriously declining as of late. Just a couple of weeks ago, I called about another issue and was told they would call me back in a day. Of course, the call never came. I'm heading towards closing my credit card with them- just tired of the crap! (And this promo isn't evening tempting me...)
ReplyDeleteJbird, you should email Mickey directly. people have actually gotten results that way. worth a shot, right?
ReplyDeleteJbird, I hear you. During the 30% promo I tried placing an order several times, always getting the message 'there seems to be a problem with your payment method'. When I tried placing the order over the phone they told me I had to call WFNNB. I didn't and they lost a $300 order from me.
ReplyDeleteNow I have 6 items in my cart but won't pull the trigger without free ship. Saving $8 in tshirt promos doesn't make up for $18 shipping.
i might stop by the B&M since this promo applies in store too! :)

ReplyDeleteI would actually like to use this on the haya stripe hoodie, stripe forever cardigans, and two toned pullover, but I can't do it without a FS code...
ReplyDeleteDo they honor the student/teacher dicount on top of the promo?
ReplyDeleteElaine - the vintage bateau is a great top. I love mine, it actually has a very flattering cut to it and the fabric is fairly substantial.
ReplyDeleteI also agree with the fact that I just don't even look at all of the tees anymore. Such nonsense. I'm actually super tired of spring/summer clothes. When is fall coming?
The Chiffon tiered tank is fabulous! I just purchased in 2 more colors-LOVE IT! It does run big so be sure to size down.
ReplyDeleteOff topic- but Boden is having their Summer sale- 50% off and if you loved the J crew bazaar Tunic dress (as I do!) you may want to try the Boden Printed Tunic- It is $66 and Super cute! (just got mine in the purple and it is adorable)
Without free shipping this promo is lame. Sorry, but a pass for me.
ReplyDeleteElaine: I've been on the waiting list for my vintage bateau tee in pewter and I've long forgotten when I'll be getting it. ;-P
NCMama - they honor it in-store, from my experience. I am not sure about online/catalog. When I ordered a dress on promo over the phone, I was told I could not use the discount. Technically, though, it really seems like one should be able to, since it isn't "clearance."
ReplyDeleteOT, and i know people have already ranted about this...but, I just got my anthro card in the mail and placed an order... free shipping ALL SUMMER for ANY AMOUNT... ALL SUMMER. Just for signing up for a points card. Um. something seems a little off. J Crew is still charging $15+? And won't even let me use a free shipping code if I decide to "enjoy" my teacher discount on an online order? Fed up.
Yay! I felt one of these coming on. Disappointed there is no free shipping, but I can go into the store at least. The sailor stipe always cardi and boatneck stripe tee will be mine :)
ReplyDeleteFrom my experience, they don't apply the teacher/student on top of a promotion % off; they will apply it on top of sale items (that don't end in .99), and I have used it with free ship codes no problem. HTH!
ReplyDeleteLame promo without free shipping. Won't be using at all. There are tons of super cheap tees on sale and the regular priced ones will get there soon I am sure!
ReplyDeleteWhat I don't get about the insane backorders for the vintage bateau striped tees (I ordered mine in February, it was backordered until late June, I received it mid-June) is that they had them in stores from March-May! I know that a large company's production and warehouse distribution processes are probably extremely complicated and there's probably a logical explantation, but it was SO maddening to walk by the store and see that they clearly had a whole rack of the shirts, and know that I wasn't scheduled to get mine for several more months (I could've canceled the order, but I placed it w/ a 20% off and free ship on tees promo, so didn't want to pay full price for it).
ReplyDeleteOhnoes, long waits for the bateau top? Shoot. :-/ I have the gray one, and I do indeed love it -- the fabric, the print of the stripe, everything ... but not sure I can wait so many months for it to come! Why'nt they take a hint and make more stuff like THAT and fewer embellished tees? lol
ReplyDeleteHa. You would think they would realize a good portion of their customer base will buy anything with nautical stripes. I'm almost mesmerized by them, and usually my sister/shopping companion has to grab me and say "You already have 5 stripey shirts!"
ReplyDeleteI have loved jcrew since high school....and is still stronger than ever...but I think I am getting jcrew fatigue...their style: clothes and art direction is getting a little predictable and boring (pretty yes).....sigh.....so no I wont be taking in their tshirt promotion....
ReplyDeleteWithout free shipping thrown in, not worth buying.

ReplyDeleteI already have way too many tees, so I'm going to pass on this promo, although I'm tempted to try the vintage bateau tee after reading all your posts. I adore striped tees, too, especially my beloved metallic striped tissue tees circa 2007. I have that tee in three colors and they're all still in regular rotation.
ReplyDeletewith the last set of promos that had % off + free shipping, I did use the student/teacher discount on top of it, making for excellent deals (especially since I ship it to my boyfriend's house in PA--no tax).
ReplyDeleteThe only time I haven't been able to use the student/teacher discount is for sale items that end in .99.
I usually just order online and then once I get the confirmation email, forward the email with a little note asking for the discount. If I've also ordered items ending .99, I add something stating that I realize the discount won't apply to those items, so that CS knows that I know the "rules".
I love my vintage bateau T's except that I'm already an XS (and a petite) so because they run so large, the cut isn't great on me. I keep trying to shrink them in the dryer. I was going to return the camel because it is not "pale" at all, but it looks great paired with darker colors. I like the fabric of the T's and am obsessed with stripes.
ReplyDeleteI'm a little tired of the embellished/artsy tees that everyone is doing now. I'd like to find some real dressier tops instead of fancy T's.
BTW, LOVE this blog. First time commenting. Hope to contribute more.
I would like to get some of the perfect-fit cardigans, and some of the cute tanks, but I was wondering if anyone happened to have a free shipping (over 150) coupon? :)
ReplyDeleteLizzy T, I tried to email you and it bounced back ... can you shoot me an email at elaine dot hamill at gmail dot com -- thanks!
ReplyDeleteJBird- I work for the bank that issues the J. Crew Credit Card (WFNNB). eMail me directly at katie.robinson@alliancedata.com with your issue and I will work internally to help resolve it. I am sorry about your experience and hope I can make it better!
ReplyDeletea.m. maclay-
ReplyDeleteI've never done that. who do you forward your email to? thanks!
Just to vent about cs, I bought a top in the store, a chambray sleeveless tunic top, for $48. I was online and saw it for $35. I called cs and the very young cs rep told me, and I will quote "all the stores are independently owned and can set their own prices. Even stores within the same city can be different"?>@#@$# She actually became argumentative when I laughed at her and challenged that. I called a local B&M and talked to the manager- we've become friends because I shop there more hours than some of his employees work there ( sad but true). HE was upset and told to call back to the cs group that handles "experiences you would like to share" . HE said Mickey and Tracy would flip out if they heard that. I did and the cs was understanding, took my info ( I had forgotten her name because I became so flummoxed by her statement) and credited me the $13 difference. Scary...
ReplyDeleteKaren--
ReplyDeleteI just forward to contactus@jcrew.com. They usually say they will subtract the discount & it make take 6-8 weeks to see it on my CC, but it always ends up on the same billing cycle as the original charges.

ReplyDeleteso weird. all the cs reps i ever get tell me i can't use a free ship code with the discount. further, i always get % off of promo items, but not on annnny clearance, regardless of cent amount. blarggghhh. must be luck of the draw?
ReplyDeleteam maclay et al-
ReplyDeletethanks for following up! I guess it won't hurt to try to email them! I'll do it next time.
(PS I have been able to use a free ship code w/my student discount. However, I have never tried to use my student discount on top of a promo; but I have used the 15% off on sale items that do not end in .99)
MJ, that response from the CSA is interesting--a couple of years ago, shortly after this blog started, I was very upset about paying $180 online for a dress that was marked down to $39.99 at the B&M. I ranted here at JCA and wrote to CS, and I actually received a call from a couple of execs (unfortunately am blanking on names right now but it's not impossible that one of them was Tracey Gardner). Obviously I was thrilled that my concern was receiving a response from a high level, but what they told me was pretty close to what the first CSA told you: JC gives store managers a lot of authority to reduce prices on inventory that needs to be moved, e.g., if cashmere isn't selling in a Florida store, the manager there can mark it down.
ReplyDeleteOf course, having a valid business reason for the price differential is not the same as refusing to honor the lower price for the customer who points it out. As a customer I view JC as a single entity and I felt ripped off by this large discrepancy in price. (I had to throw such a fit to get an adjustment that I am exhausted just remembering it.) I'm certainly more wary about placing online orders and often call to check store prices before doing so.
