"Thanks!" to many of you, including Christy, Fiona, & Silver_Lining (in this post), as well as Marietta & Irina, who let us know that J.Crew had an update to its website today (click here to view online).
There are some new arrivals for men (click here) & women (click here). {wahoo!} Of course, Crewcuts got updated too (click here). Even the J.Crew Collection (click here) displays new arrivals for Summer.
J.Crew has also provided the latest catalog online (click here to view). As for the new arrivals...
I am in love... Island Paisley Perfect Shirt (Item 28026; $78.00) looks amazing!!! The intricate and feminine design on the shirt has already won me over. :)
Cute... I think the Reusable Canvas Totes (Item 24934; $10.00) are adorable. I love that they keep updating the design on the bag.
My eyes hurt... What is up with the Hooded Cotton Slicker (Item 27894; $128.00)? Shapeless rain slickers are not J.Crew's forte. Remember the 2008 disaster of the Lucido Jacket (Item 96559, $1,800.00)?
What items are you most excited about and why? Which items are you surprised (or not surprised) to see? Which items did you hope would be included? Were you expecting a bigger roll-out today? Also, did you receive the latest catalog? :)
Quick Poll: What are your thoughts on the newest arrivals?
The Fluerette pencil skirt is pretty but the shorter length does not work for me. I got the lilac garden and the peony penci skirts which were longer and fit great. The patiche one which was short like this one was ill fitting for me. I woul buy the new one if not for the length. Very pretty fabric. Other than that I did not put anything in my shopping bag on this roll out.
ReplyDeleteSo will be saving my $ for Euro vacation--leaving tomorrow:)
I love the slicker! That was the stand out piece for me, I think it will look really cool in summer/early autumn rain over minis and boots or cropped jeans and flats.
ReplyDeleteSo not impressed... I'm glad... I need to save $$$$! What happened to the good old J. Crew??
ReplyDeleteI agree with Milljcrew so not impressed, some of those tees are just horrid JC designers are truly grasping at straws. Me thinks it is time to find another retailer.
ReplyDeleteA few things interest me, but alot looks the same old, same old. Ordered the Island Paisley Perfect Shirt, Fleurette Pencil Skirt and Silk Motorcycle Jacket in Mink (we'll see about this one). Also like the Kingston Ankle Boots but can't think about Fall just yet.
ReplyDeleteOT: J.Crew has started sending emails letting you know your returns have been received and processed. They are also sending out an email when a price adjustment has been made to your order.
ReplyDeleteI was at Easton Town Center yesterday and the sale section was HUGE. It was, as stated in other posts, at least 1/2 awful tees. I am normally a J Crew tee fan, but I would buy any of the ones in the sale section now, even at $9.99.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I saw the breakers plaid shirt in the sale section for $39.99 if anyone was thinking about it. It's still in the new arrivals section online.
Sorry to go off topic but I have a quick question: has anyone received an email from JCrew stating your returns have arrived, even though you returned them at the b&m? I've returned loads to the b&m over the years and never received an email. Just wondering if this is something new. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThanks FFM! I didn't read the comments before posting my question. It seems like a waste to send an email when we return to the b&m. I wonder if they send an email for items the b&m ship back to the warehouse vs. items they keep and put out at their store. My email was for swimwear that was internet only. I'll have to keep a look out to see if I receive emails for items that were not internet/catalog only.
ReplyDeleteOT: HUUUUUUUUUGE restock of the sale section online today! I see many sweaters, coats and jackets left over from winter, as well as popbacks from the spring line.
ReplyDeleteI preordered the Fleurette pencil skirt and sized up for length, a trick that worked well for me with the oak tweed and other skirts. I think I will wait for a code or sale and pick up the island paisley perfect shirt, the liberty cami and the demetra heels. I am also interested in the silk motorcycle jacket but it would definitely have to go on sale for me to bite.
ReplyDeleteFFM, I noticed that too! I like it, it helps me keep track.
I like the email re: returns too!
ReplyDeleteThe new catalog is a fresh reminder of how cute some simple, basic JCrew items can be when put together....some of the colors are amazing! (IE broken in bfriend shorts and coralie top; bikinis and flip flops)
There are a ton of popbacks in the sale section today. either i'm not fast enough or they never really existed since i tried to buy and the pieces weren't there.
ReplyDeleteFabulousFloridaMommy: I noticed that this morning, too! They should have been doing this a long time ago. I really like having the peace of mind that certain inquiries and orders have been processed instead of waiting for them to appear on my bank statement!
ReplyDeleteRe: rollout..there was NOTHING that interested me. Sadness.
btw...for those of you interested, I got the cotton hammock dress in orchid shadow yesterday. It is a hot mess and waaay too short. Definitely not worth it, maybe not even on sale.
also, i clicked on the email to go directly to the "new arrivals" and there were a number of items already in the sale section and the "new arrival" section was forever long! it would be nice to have it updated.
ReplyDeletesorry Rosie for the double post ;)
ReplyDeleteI tried on the fluerette pencil skirt yesterday and really love it. However, I will wait for a sale since it will end up there at some point. :) I'm not too interested in any of the other new items, although I haven't checked out the shoes yet.
ReplyDeleteNot thrilled, but do like the Island Paisley shirt and the fluerette pencil skirt.
ReplyDeleteHoping for a new coupon soon.
Once again, the styling cracks me up, especially for the liberty bustier cami. Who wears a t-shirt under a bustier? And $225 for a cami?
ReplyDeleteI'm also annoyed that there was such a big update to the sale section the day after the free shipping code expired. There are even pop-backs for some coveted non-sale items (like the bazaar tunic in four sizes), but without a code, I'm not buying.
I like the Fleurette bustier dress and pencil skirt, Coddington leather platform pumps, and Jeweled Maya sandals. I also like the print of the Liberty bustier cami, but there is no way my "girls" will fit! :-)
ReplyDeleteI bought the Shimmer Crinkle Shell (heather graphite) in-store, it's not for everyone, but I really like the fit, no need for layering. A nice light summer evening piece. I didn't see anything else that was interesting for my lifestyle. An odd mix of ill-fitting garments. What's the deal JC - did you forget how flattering fitted clothing looks?
ReplyDeleteI am interested in the Silk Motorcycle Jacket in Mink as well, have to see that one IRL right?
I also got a return notice yesterday. It was from an online return that was damaged… oddly, there were a few pieces in that return and only half of the order was processed. No update this morning. I'm contacting them today to find out what the hold up is. It's a nice feature, I love to see the returns spelled out, no guessing anymore.
AppGal, I'm so distressed about the hammock dress. I ordered the abyss blue, due on my doorstep tomorrow. DARN!
ReplyDeleteI love the "return processed" emails! Yay!
ReplyDeleteGoing to check on the new arrivals right now...
Grrr...I love how they always do a big sale restock the day after FS expires!
ReplyDeleteNot a ton of things excite me in the new arrivals, but I am obsessed with both colors in the sailor-stripe always cardigan! And I'm also kinda liking the Haya two-tone terry pullover in the marled charcoal (I missed that Madewell sweater awhile ago, and this one sort of resembles it).
Now if only they'll do a 20% off knits and tees plus FS, I'll be all set!
I am stunned. How is it possible to have so many new items and they all be so unappealing? It is particularly disturbing in the dresses-everyone wants at least a couple of pretty summer dresses. Do you think JCrew has stopped making normal length skirts to cut down on manufacturing costs? I would describe this rollout as Edie Beale goes to Heavily Bombed Cities of WWII. This makes me feel very good about my shopping trip to Talbots yesterday.
ReplyDeleteI tried on and photographed quite a few of the items from the new roll-out last night, but I ended up buying NOTHING from the new stuff. I liked it, but definitely did not full-price love any of it.
ReplyDeleteI bought the liberty daisy skirt (even though not marked is the lower price in store) and the slub cotton short-sleeved suiting jacket in natural (also marked at a higher price but came out to 59 dollars).
I personally love the hammock dress in the abyss blue...but I can see why some of the ladies may prefer more length. I am only going to wear this dress casually, though. I bought an x-small and I love the fit. :)
Pics of new arrivals may be on my blog later today. My relatives are in town and we are running around like CRAZY people. Going to J. Crew last night was my way of relaxing...lol.
Oooh...also the Tortoise printed patent peep toes in graphite! I've been waiting for this color to come back!
ReplyDeletecdp: Don't distress! Maybe it will work on you! The shoulder straps just didn't flatter my body shape at ALL, and the xs was too loose on me. It was also way too short for my liking, but as Dina said, maybe it could be the perfect little casual dress. I ordered it because I love the orchid shadow color, but didn't fall in love with the dress itself. Hope it will work out for you!
ReplyDeleteNothing for me from this rollout. The Fleurette skirt is cute, but not enough to persuade me. In the last couple of months my JC purchases have been older items found on eBay.
ReplyDeleteI was at B-vue and echo the comments about the sale section full of ratty tees and short shorts. And, since JC has evidently dropped me off both their catalog and e-mail list even tho I am a silver card holder, I picked up a catalog while I was there--it was the only thing I walked out of the store with. I do think they've toned down some of the OTT styling.
Still waiting for more news on that free shipping for cardholders e-mail that some received. Very curious about that.
Thanks Dina and AppGal… like so many JC items, you have to try it before you buy it, but my local B&M doesn't carry collection items & most bags and shoes, so their inventory in general is somewhat lacking. I'm pretty sure I shop at the Ghetto JCrew - the registers don't work half of the time either. You'd think with such stellar returns this year they'd get on that.
ReplyDeleteI see nothing I want.
ReplyDeleteBut I did enjoy this little snippet from the item description for that Hooded Cotton Slicker: (We've even been known to belt it over rolled jeans and sky-high heels. Just saying.)
Lol.
I am suprisingly not so critical, even though there is little that appeals to me this rollout. A couple accessories caught my eye, but I'll probably be spending less than $50 in all. I liked the video, I think the clothes look great in that context, but less so for me. I wish they'd get back to doing great jackets instead of motorcycle and military knockoffs, which I just can't pull off. And yes, could we pretty please have some feminine, wearable frocks?
ReplyDeleteThe Coddington Suede Pumps, Crystal Steps Necklace and Coveted Pearl Necklace made it to my wish list, but nothing else came close. And seriously - the Bisho Tweed Coat for $750 with frayed edges is insulting. I'm on the fence about the slicker.
ReplyDeleteso funny Corry--I was just going to whine that I look thru pages and pages of dresses and skirts which I just don't wear and finally see that one little motorcycle jacket that I like... between the two of us we make the perfect shopper. I guess they are appealing to a wide group these days.
ReplyDeleteLauren PhD, when I see that kind of styling, I assume it's because the item didn't fit the model and the stylist was trying to come up with some way to make it wearable.
ReplyDeleteHexicon, free shipping for cardholders?!! I haven't seen anything about that. Any details?
Hi gem twin, I can see the appeal of the motorcycle jacket, which I think looks great on the model in the video! Maybe I'm getting a bit stodgy? Anyway, I'm sure you'll rock it! Yes, I do think they are appealing to a wide group, but I wish they wouldn't neglect the classic styles as much as I feel they have been. Of course, all this is great news for my wallet, so I can't complain too much ;) Happy shopping!
ReplyDeleteTotally underwhelmed, but as most have said, this is great for my wallet. I think my pending iPhone 4 purchase will have to tide me over for many months (yay graduation money).
ReplyDeleteI stopped by the Marlton, NJ store yesterday and the new arrivals were out. So many cute things, but I'm prego and trying to save money on frivolous clothing items. The skirts were so cute.
ReplyDeleteOT: The Marlton store's sale section was gi-hugic! It was easily half the store. Again, I didn't bite. Tons of Ts for 9.99 and 14.99.
I can't even tell the difference between old and new anymore. It's all so bland
ReplyDeleteI had a sneaking feeling that they might update the sale last night, so I was stalking the site 2 am when it did. And to my surprise, after I loaded my cart I was still able to use the 'BEACH' code to get free shipping, even though by the time I placed my order it was like 2:30am.
ReplyDeleteNow I'll just wait with my fingers crossed that everything I ordered actually arrives.
Re: Free shipping for cardholders. I got an email the other day from JCrew, reminding me that I was a few points short of the needed 500 to get a rewards card (115 points actually). In the email was a one-time use code for FS. Well, their plot worked, I am ashamed to say! I ordered the Bisbee satchel in summer hyacinth/ purple this morning. What can I say? I'm a sucker for a deal!
ReplyDeleteSlightly OT, but has anyone tried the neon madras shorts? Any opinions or reviews?
ReplyDeleteFFM: I too noticed that they are sending out emails that spell out the details of returns. This is so wonderful!!! YAY J Crew!!
ReplyDeleteI went to my B&M last night and they had an extra 50% off sale items (final sale). Almost half the store were sale items and only the front had full-priced items, no new arrivals. I came home with quite a few items. So if you are in the area, it might be worth stopping by. It's at the Brea store in California.
ReplyDeleteCan I just say how much I love this new catalog? :) No unnecessary layers - just simple, straight-forward styling. I love it! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the update, Alexis!
I stopped by the b&m during lunch and picked up the Fleurette bustier dress and Island paisley pocket cardigan (which I liked better than the perfect shirt). I had to size up one for each, my PS said they have been very inconsistent with sizing... which I find to be so true! Everything else was so-so, I may reconsider when they go on sale. Also picked up the Luxe cocktail bracelet in pearl, which is on sale in the b&m for $59.99 (from $98).
ReplyDeleteI also love this catalog for simplicity and no layering!
ReplyDeletenot a new release, but anyone try the Drawstring swing tee $45.00 #27421? any comments on the material?
I would love the slicker if it were in a gorgeous, saturated color. The blah camel would be horrible on me. Grape, on the other hand, would be delicious. Or cobalt blue, or candy apple red, or...
ReplyDeleteRecent but not new release - anyone try the rip-stop field jacket and can comment on the fit? It says shrunken, wondering if I should size up.
anyone know who the singer is on the video?
ReplyDeleteWith you there Trishouna, I was scanning through the comments to see if anyone commented on that great song and singer in the video. I'd love to find it.
ReplyDeleteto answer the previous posters' questions: someone in another thread pointed out the song sounds like a knock off of a carla bruni song...
ReplyDeleteOK...2, no, 3 thoughts on the welcome page video...1 - shapeless beige poncho, flattering on 0.2 of the population; 2 - super short shorts that look like diapers...REALLY???? and 3 - more stripey sailor tops????? c'mon...
I just watched the Rome catalog videos and all i want to do is cry... i miss the old jcrew...
Miss Penny Z- Seriously 50% off @ B&M? WOW!
ReplyDeleteDo any of you know why some B&Ms have extra % off discounts and others don't? Miss Penny Z, you totally scored!
ReplyDeletesorry, but I love the slicker too--although I won't purchase for the fabric--I am hoping it indicates some geometric volume/design for the fall. I tried to pre-order that groovy fall coat but the olive color is designated for stores only...
ReplyDelete@ Twiga & Fatz,
ReplyDeleteI know! they had tons of skirts, shorts, tshirts, jeans. I wasn't planning on getting anything, just stopped by to make a return but when i saw the discount, i couldn't pass up! i took home a jackie cardi, jessie dress, zafrina skirt, a chambray skirt for $20 ea. Plus a tee and a necklace for $10 ea.
I really don't know why some stores have discounts like this and others don't. About a month ago, i overheard the SA's saying they were one of the stores getting all the sales. Back then they had 25% off, then last week it went up to 30% and now is 50%. They're really trying to get rid of stuff! That store is also one of the smaller ones, they don't carry shoes or bags or jewelry. I don't know if that makes any difference.
xoxo,
ReplyDeleteI sized down in the rip-stop field jacket. Initially, I bought a Large, and then I returned it for a Medium which fits well. HTH!
question: there is a video on the mainpage of the jcrew website featuring a french female vocalist, who is that artist and what is the song?
ReplyDeleteLoveprints- I did a little research, as I really love the song. I found that the text in the song didn't come up with anything on the web linking it to a song or singer. The first lyric is "je ne me laisserai pas seduire" and then some stuff and then "je ne ferai pas l'amour". It's kind of an anti-love song. So I e-mailed J.Crew and here is the response (my e-mail question is in the latter part of this entry):
ReplyDeleteHi Kumi,
Wish I had a better answer for you but it's an original song we composed
for the Collection Video. It doesn't have a name. I'm sorry for any
disappointment.
If there is anything else I can help you with, please feel free to
contact me directly. I've provided my contact information below for
your convenience.
Best,
Jennifer

Could you attribute the singer and french song in your recent J.Crew
video?
Just loved it.
Kumi
Does anyone remember the name of the jacket that looks very similar to the dark green one (shown above) that came out last fall? It had round metal buttons and came in a color called "Moss"?
