"Thanks!" to many of you, including silver_lining, Regina, goldenmeans & FFM (in this post), who let us know that J.Crew updated its website (click here). There are new arrivals for men (click here), women (click here), & the J.Crew Collection (click here).
In addition to having new arrivals for men and women, J.Crew also provided the latest July catalog online (click here to view).
What items are you most excited about and why? Which items are you surprised to see? Which items did you hope would be included? Also, did you receive the latest catalog?
P.S. FFM (in this post) asked a great question that I have been wondering myself: are there any free shipping codes (that haven't expired) out there? If so, please share! :)
I'm surprised to see Rolex watches! The Tretorn sneaks are classic summer shoes, especially in the light gray. Love the new Juliet colors but don't love that the heel now matches the color of the shoe, I think it detracts from the style. Now I'm really lusting after Fall...
ReplyDeleteI bought the crystal bow bracelet and crytal necklace which are gorgeous!!!!! I was trying to wait for a sale but gave in.
ReplyDeleteplease add me to your blog roll. I have been following you since december and just love your blog
ReplyDeleteomg Tretorns? I haven't had a pair of those since I was about 10. Love them!
ReplyDeleteI also like the dress with the asymmetrical bow.
The website looks a little different (drop down boxes, product descriptions)
Finally! So glad they've added new things! And the sale section is fabulous! I love the Cascading Petals Cardigan, and it's already on sale! Seems like it is a fairly new piece.
ReplyDeleteOT, Cass if you're on today, I was wondering about what your PS mentioned re:sizing. Did she mean JC is cutting out carrying 10 and up altogether, or just in store?
ReplyDeleteAlso OT, JC is all over the new issue of Allure. Fergie is wearing a seersucker bikini on the cover and I think she looks the nicest she's looked since Kids Incorporated.
I hate to be negative but yet again I am very disappointed. I didn't see anything really interesting, mostly similar versions of already existing pieces. I also spotted another bubble hem on a shirt that I liked. Compared to last year, it seems like there is a lack of cute simple tanks, dresses and cover ups. Too many drop waist coverups. There was a daisy tunic top that I thought I saw someone review that was in the store but I didn't see it on the website. I'm looking forward to fall though or maybe later summer will have something to tempt me.
ReplyDeleteI love J Crew during the fall and winter, but I never see anything during the warmer months that tempts me. I did buy the voile vintage closet shirt with the tucking and lace on it a couple of months ago, and I snagged a violet Greta off the sale last week, but have not purchased anything else since January or February.
ReplyDeleteWhy, oh why, can I not fall in love with any of their summer clothing?
There must be a lot of orders being placed right now...I just tried calling the PS line to get measurements on an item and the recording said my wait was 13 minutes.
ReplyDeleteI love all of the blue tones being shown and see several pieces that I'm putting on my wishlist. :)
Everyone: Thanks for your great comments on the new arrivals!
ReplyDeleteTina: Love that they brought back the Juliets too! And I am also curious how the heel matching the shoe will look IRL. :)
Patina Cabachon: Added you to the blog roll. I am sorry I didn't add your site sooner- its a great blog! :)
Tastymoog: I thought I was the only one who thought the website looked a bit different too! ;)
Kathryn: I am happy to see the Sale section updated too. I must have arrived a bit late this morning though, since a lot of items were sold out after I clicked through. ;) But I hope some of you were able to find some great pop-backs!
tld51371 & kitsmommy: I am with you on looking forward to Fall. :)
FFM: That is interesting about the wait in line. 13 minutes is a long hold! ;)
tld,
ReplyDeleteI am with you. Very underwhelmed. Nothing on my wish list from the new items. I usually have a list a mile long!
I have been finding lots of cute things for summer elsewhere which is rare for me...
Has anyone seen the rolling ruffles tank in stores? I know it says online/catalogue only, but we all know that's often a lie!
ReplyDeleteE,
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to say thanks for posting a code!
I really like the hibiscus tee in melon and also the linen sweater jacket. I will probably have to get the tee but will wait for the jacket to go on sale.
ReplyDeleteSame old, same old IMO. There is only one thing I would possibly buy from this rollout and I'm in no hurry.
ReplyDeleteVery disappointed in the new arrivals. I am not a fan of neutrals except in pants. All the tops and sweaters I click on that I like come in very neutral shades that don't work for me! I was really hoping for more bright and pretty colors. I know there are a few but I don't care for the items they come in! Oh well.
ReplyDeleteFinally! For my needs and wants, this is the first updating of new stuff I can truly get excited about (fyi, I'm a guy addicted to their tailor-fit secret wash shirts). The colors are finally something other than blue madras....
ReplyDeleteGood job, J.Crew!
I am not wowed by any of the new arrivals myself. I do see quite a few things though that I'll get when it goes on sale.
ReplyDeleteI am really disappointed in J.Crew if they only carry up to size 8 (??) in parts of the fall line. That is just bizarre. I know they may have the vanity sizing going but I think this will alienate quite a few of their shoppers if they quit carrying a variety of sizes. In the B&M stores I have been in the size 8-14 range seems to always be the first sizes to sell out, not the smaller sizes!!
CheesyGoodness,
ReplyDeleteShe didn't say they are cutting out carrying the larger sizes per se, just that she noticed that fewer and fewer styles are coming in the full size range as compared to the past.
I'm going to order the indigo floral top (yay sz 14!) and the merino petals v-neck. Going to a red phone since there is no FS code right now--if I'm paying full price, I want free shipping!
New peep toe mary janes in a suede/ patent combo...
ReplyDelete"She says, Cosette, I love you very much."
(We did Les Miz in chorus one year, so those songs have been in my head for two decades now!)
Alright, big EW on JC. Just clicked on a few skirts, like the Sateen Saturday and Rumpled Cotton Safari and they indeed only go to 12. That's ridiculous, even with the vanity sizing.
ReplyDeleteI confess I was lukewarm on the Elodie shoes when I first saw them, but I'm loving them in the Vachetta leather! Too bad about the price, $198! Ouch.
ReplyDeleteThe striped cotton popover looked cute in the catalogue (I'm an idiot for stripes), but in the website photos it's not as great as I thought it would be.
Still a fan of the Tissue Pleated Top (versatile for the fall), the linen beach pants and all the Tees. But the rest of it? Meh. I'm holding out till fall.
if they only carry size 8 in the fall line then I may as well stop shopping with them now. I must not be the consumer they are looking for even though I spend hundreds of dollars a month (or 99.9 percent of my clothing budget) on jcrew apparel and accessories.
ReplyDeleteAnd they wrecked the perfect Juliet mid-heels, IMO.
ReplyDeleteI just received an email (I forwarded it to you, Alexis), which includes a free shipping code for $175+, through 6/24. Code: BEACH
ReplyDeleteOh wow!
ReplyDeleteThe sale sectin update was great today! The twisted from Jersey dress is down to 29$! I've had my eye on that for a while now, time to snatch it up!
Thanks, Cass. Enjoy the new goodies!
ReplyDeleteTA-940 worked for me, too. Free shipping on $150+ orders. Thanks so much E!
ReplyDeleteThe rolex watch in green look great!
ReplyDeleteanother 20% off promo Im getting it
I hope it dosent get soldout by then
Thanks E & Marietta for the codes. I just updated the main page code section, as well as created a new post, with that fabulous news! Again thanks for sharing- I really appreciate it!!! :)
ReplyDeleteCG, the prob is also that their vanity sizing appears to apply to their blouses and certain styles of jackets and jersey dresses, but not the pencil skirts or sheath dresses (which run small IMHO). Thus can't even size down to fit.
ReplyDeleteThanks for FS codes everyone!
E- thanks for the code! used it this morning on a few new to sale items.
ReplyDeleteCass, this sizing thing is super frustrating. I agree that it's only certain things that run larger than size, like a bunch of tees from this spring, etc. I guess I was trying to laugh it off a bit since I always go with the it's better to laugh than cry defense! The first time I really noticed a store's size preference was Victoria's Secret. You can ORDER up to 40 DD but the largest size they carry in alot of styles in store is 36 C. If they have anything bigger in store, they hide them in bottom drawers. Lately they've gotten better, and I've noticed they even are hiring larger busted, and larger sized ladies in general. I think that's a much more truthful and democratic way to do business. If you're a mass market store with a large demographic and want to retain clientele don't alienate customers!!!
ReplyDeleteThe only thing that I really wanted from the newest rollout is the Silk indigo floral skirt, which I ordered. Also picked up a few things on sale.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like I'm in the minority, but there were a few must haves for me, which hasn't been the case in the past few rollouts. I got the knotted sateen dress, beaded graphic tee, and the Campo bag. For those of you who reacted to the lookbook photos (where it looks huge), I talked to a PS and CS representative--both confirmed that the bag's dimensions are smaller than the small gallery hobo (by about 1 inch W and H, I believe) so it is not as huge as it looks. When I saw it in the lookbook I was bummed, too, but I think it must be a case of their changing the dimensions at the last minute, maybe because people have been complaining about the huge bags like the large gallery hobo?
ReplyDeleteI'm getting the order tomorrow (can't wait!) and if there is interest, I'll confirm on the size of the Campo (or someone else might see it before then, too). Happy shopping, everyone!
I am LOVING the Sateen Saturday skirt. SO CUTE! I also love the indigo floral print stuff. The twist sash dress is adorable, but $225? What's so special about it?
ReplyDeleteDid some one try the snakeskin ballet flats 99469 ?
ReplyDeleteDoes it run tts?
Apparently the Tretorns already sold out?? :(
ReplyDeleteI like the ankle boots (though not very summery), I just wish they came with a lower, even flat, heel. Otherwise, nothing very interesting here again. I'm waiting for Fall.
ReplyDeleteTretorns?--that brings back bad memories of 7th grade along with the obligatory add-a-beads and Izods worn by anybody who wanted to belong to the popular crowd during my stay in Mountain Brook, Alabama.
ReplyDeleteMeredith,
ReplyDeleteI agree. No need to wear canvas Tretorns again. Plus, the only "In" ones were leather when I was growing up.
There wasn't anything I had to have but I bit since others were so nice to share the free ship coupon.
ReplyDeleteThe
Dressy jersey Friday dress Item 18151 looks promising (but you never know until it arrives)!
The
Wool boyfriend blazer Item 16467 is sold out already too. There was one left in a size 4 about a half-hour ago.
Many thanks again for the free ship code.
Hi all,
ReplyDeleteActually, I'm a bit surprised to say that I'm very tempted by several new items. I had been planning on holding out until fall, but I like a lot of the new patterns & silhouettes including:
silk indigo floral - I pre-bought the skirt & hope that it fits well. Although, I'm a little concerned about the pockets (w. a bold print, why?)
ink dot- luuuuv the pattern- not too sure about the fit of the skirt. It looks a little bulky on the v. slim model. Any JCA reviews?
crocodillo - so cool! I love the escher-esque crocs. It's sort of a mod take on the izod/ critter print
I'm also planning on stalking the Libretto necklace & some of the suiting. Love the new fluted shape to they added to the 120s. If I add them to my collection of striped pencil skirts I could go a whole week in nothing but 120s :} Also, I noticed a sharp "Boyfriend Blazer" & immediately thought of Alexis' Paris trip!
Maybe I should go Crewsin' this weekend. I'm sure I could find a reason (however flimsy)
Hope y'all have fab finds!
Heather:D
P.S. I mentioned this before, but for all you JC guys, there's a great article in the NYT
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/06/17/fashion/18codes.html?em
that features some great jcrew menswear looks HTH
Also, I should not that the article has photos of menswear from several vendors including JCrew.
Lots of fun stuff to look at, not sure what I will actually get. Some of the jewelry is very pretty. Now, whether it's FP pretty or on-sale-pretty has yest to be decided. And yay! I can do some Polyvore clipping.
ReplyDeleteHurrah,
ReplyDeleteI found reviews for the ink dot dress on both Gigi & Lilaccupcake's blogs. Thanks ladies! Of course now I'm reeeeeallly tempted to try it :}
Can't wait for the weekend!
H:D

ReplyDeleteCorry, ooohhh, can't wait for a review of the Campo. I'm hoping the lighter color will go on some crazy sale tomorrow so I don't have it rattling around in my head for the next four months. (Dream world, I know!)
ReplyDeleteThe only other thing I feel super strong about is the dressy jersey ruffle sleeve dress. It isn't a standout on the site, but I got a very similar dress with 3/4 sleeves last fall, the Adelaide, I think, and it was wicked flattering on. I usually go for something with an empire waist or a self belt, or some type of definition in the waist, since sheath types make me look shapeless, but I think the ruffles on the hem weighted the jersey just enough to make it fall across my curves to perfection. This makes me think this new summer dress may be similar in fit which would be cool, since the other ruffle hem dress looks too long and fitted through the skirt for me.
I liked a couple of the new suiting items--the Collins dress and the fluted skirt. My office is casual during the summer, though, so I can wait a bit to see if they'll go on sale. I am hoping that fall will bring some more great suiting dresses in knockout colors, such as the purple, peony, and tea rose we saw this past year.
ReplyDeleteNothing else particularly grabbed me--the indigo skirt is pretty but the colors aren't for me, and so many of the other offerings are in blah desert and stone colors (the names alone sound sere and dry).
J.Crew sure is going nuts with the sizing. I am a 6 IRL but a 2 in most Crew stuff, and now we hear that they're dropping some of the double-digit sizes??? J.Crew, I love your stuff, but you are a mall/mass market store, not couture!
I love the new necklaces!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I just noticed that they are making size XXS in the slub cotton shirred ruffle tank!!!
Katherine - I haven't seen the rolling ruffles in-store yet. If I do, I'll be sure to post it!
ReplyDeleteCliquot - ITA! They really messed up the Juliets. Those same colors in non-suede would have been delicious.
IRL - I can't believe that blazer is gone already. Perhaps they created a very small quantity.
I'm liking the Saturday skirt, and the endless summer sweater. Some of the dresses too - like the twist sash dress and the papillion dress (which looked soooo TDF on Gigi on her blog). And, some cute new necklaces and a newly stocked sale section!!
ReplyDeleteThough, I'm disappointed there weren't more fugly items than there were (tho there are a few). They're always good for LOLs.
I'm with you all on the Juliets - they'll probably end in the sale section. Remember the Coralies? They were down to $60 or so!
ReplyDeleteThere are some pieces I'm interested in, for sure, but I'll probably hold back until the JCA reviews start rolling in. ;)
In desperate love with the Crocodillo sweater and on the fence about the Ink Dot dress.
ReplyDeleteWould love to have the Campo bag but it's out of my budget at the moment.
I think the Merino Petal Scoopneck Sweater is one of my favorites! Wish it was offered in more colors, though.
ReplyDeleteThe Crocodillo pencil skirt is available in b&m's only, item # 14810. So cute!
ReplyDeleteHow much is the Crocodillo pencil skirt in stores?
ReplyDeleteHey Marietta,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info. about the skirt. Is it a longish pencil or more of a mini? I think it would look cute w a long navy sweater or tunic if it's a shortish length.
I have to admit that I was a little concerned about having croc's on a top. That said, I think the pattern looks cute w a swimsuit like #15981.
Thanks again,
Heather:D
The green Rolex is already gone :-(
ReplyDeleteI'm so frustrated with all the sizing craziness I wrote about it on my blog here. I have everything from a 12 to a 16, l or XL from J.Crew hanging in my closet. Yes, there may be vanity sizing but to still alienate part of your customer base just seems ill advised.I love J.Crew and am willing to spend money with them, even full price, but it gets frustrating. For example, I'm going to order some ballet flats and I need to get a size 10 and 11, because sometimes there 10 fits, sometimes it is too small. So frustrating and such a waste of time and energy and resources.
ReplyDeletehappy life - If I remember correctly I believe it is $138
ReplyDeleteHeather - it is more of a longish pencil skirt, I would say similar to the double serge.
HTH!
I love the Nottingham ankle boots and apparantly they are sold out already too! Jeez! It seems like this rollout has been successful already from what has already disappeared. I'm a bit late to looking at stuff today. Wondering what I missed out on!
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone have an item number for the Tretorn sneakers? Curious to see what the looked like.
ReplyDeleteRats! Has anyone noticed that you can't put more than "9" in the quantity total to check on inventory? I guess they are on to us ;)!
ReplyDeleteJCREWGAL here is the link to the shoes and a twitpic of some other colors.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.jcrew.com/AST/Browse/WomenBrowse/Women_Feature_Assortment/NewArrivals/shoes/PRDOVR~18317/18317.jsp
http://twitpic.com/3rqfd
I am not too excited about the new arrivals. I am disappointed by the tees and jackets. However, the Sateen Saturday is on my wish list.
ReplyDeletehas anyone seen the crocodillo pencil skirt in the boston-area stores? cambridge didn't have it : (
ReplyDeleteKenda-
ReplyDeleteTry calling the Atrium store, I believe they had the Crocodillo skirts last weekend.
Whoops, that should be KENDRA.
ReplyDeleteOrdered the silk indigo floral top and the cotton contrast-stitch perfect shirt immediately because I've been dying for some new shirts, and I thought they were both great-looking. But what did they do to the website? I hate the new incomplete product description on the product page that you have to scroll over to read in its entirety...
ReplyDeleteUpdate on the Campo-my hopes were dashed. It is indeed HUGE, in the category of "what in the world were they thinking?" It is going right back. Also, the knotted cotton sateen dress ran big on me. I'm afraid that I continue to be sized out of JCrew. LOVE the caspian blue/orange graphic t, though--very soft and thick. Hope this helps someone. Sorry to disappoint, CheesyGoodness-but hopefully, if you aren't looking for a HUGE bag, you can spend the Campo money on something else, as I plan to do. It is beautiful, though-fantastic leather.
ReplyDeleteRae I love that new feature of the website. In the old version some of the descriptions were so long, I couldn't mouse-over available colors and see the item view on the same screen because I had to scroll so far down to see the color options. Now I can mouse-over the available colors of an item and see what it looks like. Likely it is geared toward smaller devices and keeping everything in a more compact window.
ReplyDeleteCorry, that's so disappointing about your purchases :( Can you possibly elaborate on the Campo? Are the measurements completely off-base in the catalog? I measured based on gigiofca's image info and it would appear to be okay. So were the SA and PS completely off their rocker?
ReplyDeleteIn a fit of insomnia last night I succumbed, but at least I'm not out shipping, so if it's huge, it's going back!
Corry,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the update on the Campo bag. I definitely do not want a huge bag. Maybe they will come out with a mini version for fall.
JCREWGAL, the Nottingham boots are under new arrivals. It says they are a final sale. What is up with that?
ReplyDeleteCorry - Could "huge" be subjective on the Campo bag? For me, 11x12x4 is NOT a huge bag. So, do you think the dimensions for this bag are not as listed online, or is that just really big for you? Curious, because I am really interested in ordering.
ReplyDeleteCorry, sorry to hear Campo wasn't the one for you. That's so disappointing when that happens, and twice in one order is a bummer. Thanks for the heads up, though, about the size. I call things like that muge, as in even more than huge. Guess I'll pass on this one, as well.
ReplyDeletePerhaps Corry is really petite because I saw the Campo bag today and I wouldn't call it huge...
ReplyDeleteI posted some photos of the new arrivals I purchased in case any one needs some references...
ReplyDeletehttp://thesplurgeorthesteal.blogspot.com/
If you read Thursday's post, the one with the flicker Fall 09 catalog, the campo bag is there with a model. You can kind of gage the size of it from that photo.
ReplyDeleteAnoyn- Thanks for the pictures of the Tretorns. They are cute! And appear to be in stock again Yay!
ReplyDeleteNancy-I'm wondering why those boots are final sale myself. I'm not sure about buying something for $250 for final sale, the first day its released. What gives?
I'm hoping to get out to JCrew tomorrow, post Father's day, to see some of the new arrivals in person. Woo Hoo!
WHAT'S WITH THE STICKY CAPSSSSSS?!?
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteHi all, yes, I am petite (now seemingly a petite 0, but I used to be a 0/petite 2, and actually a size 4 in the early 1990s and am the same weight as always). I am sorry that I did not measure the bag before returning it. Here is my best guess: it is probably 11" high but it is not 12" wide-it is bigger. It looked to me like it looks in the fall lookbook-overscale. Certainly other people might be able to carry it off. On my shoulder it was a dangerous weapon (think bull in a china shop) and carrying it as a tote would have been equally a joke. It was love at first sight in the catalog, and an immediate reject at home out of the box. I didn't even dwell on it long enough to measure (I was rushing out the door to do errands, including returns at my B&M, so sorry about that.) Perhaps someone else can chime in when they get it. I don't understand it myself, because indeed, the dimensions they give do not measure up to the impression in real life, at least mine. I hope it works for someone, because it is really nice. As for me, I'll keep hoping JCrew comes out with smaller scale bags.
ReplyDeletere: Campo bag
ReplyDeleteI wish J.Crew would go back to having additional views for shoes and bags. The view of bags on the mannequin shoulder was really helpful in sizing up how it would look on me.
re: Nottingham boots
I don't see final sale on these boots today, perhaps it was a website error.
http://www.jcrew.com/AST/Browse/WomenBrowse/Women_Feature_Assortment/NewArrivals/shoes/PRDOVR~16940/16940.jsp
Good Morning Everyone! On the Campo bag: the website has the dimensions on it: 11"H x 11 3/8"W x 3 7/8"D...that's about the same size as the Belle Satchel. I would consider it to be more of a mid-size handbag. I have 2 of the Coach Large Ergo handbags from a couple years ago and they measure 16.5 x 6 x 11 inches.
ReplyDeleteSorry, I have the Extra Large Hobos and they measure 19 x 12 x 5. They are big...however, I really like large handbags and don't consider them to be too big at all for me personally. I would consider the Campo to be mid to large size...hopefully it will still be around for markdowns so I can get one. :)
ReplyDeleteAm I the only guy who checks out this blog? Among the new men's items, I really dig the white linen-cotton shawl collar cardigan. And 88 bucks, not a bad price. I just wish I lived where the summer was cool enough to justify picking that up. As well, the men's pullover shawl collar, also at 88 bucks, is very nice. (Only saw this online, not in the catalog.)
ReplyDeleteCorry: Thank you for the clarification! I know how it is when something doesn't quite work out - I usually want to repack it and send it off ASAP :)...I'm wondering if the leather is very stiff out of the box and probably needs to be worn/used for awhile to relax. Some of my Coach "baseball glove"-type leather was like this...it's wonderful after some use, but not at all pliable when you first receive it.
ReplyDeleteI know a lot of vendors measure bags from the true base of the bag, forgetting that in real life, most of us work with the dimensions of the widest part of the bag. The Campo has some pretty wide side pockets too and if the leather isn't collapsable yet, it probably looks pretty big.
Oh, well...I'm trying it out and if I can provide more details later, I'll let you all know! :)
Thanks for the bag size comparison FFM. I ordered the Belle when it first came out, was so excited for it to arrive. As soon as I saw it I knew it was too large for me and I would never use it so back it went.
ReplyDeleteLarge bags are still popular so they obviously work for some, but not for me.
CaptainCrew: You're welcome! Here's the comparison between the two for reference:
ReplyDelete*Belle Satchel:
10 3/4"H x 13 7/8"W x 7" D
*Campo:
11"H x 11 3/8"W x 3 7/8"D
The 2 are pretty similar in size and the Campo appears to actually be a tad smaller than the Belle.
Corry - OT comment. I too used to be petite 2/0, now petite 0. I am quite frustrated with sizing - as I cannot size down, and considerably fewer items come in petite. I contacted CS, in their e-mail they state that sizing was changed and I should consult their charts. I think now I can order Crewcuts only! How rediculous! Although they say XXS exists I've only seen in one top. I did mention to them that I'll have nothing to buy if they're not going to make XXS/PXS/PXXS/P00 - I know that I am not these sizes, and knowing that I have to buy such small sizes makes me feel bad about my self. My MD confirms that my weight is fine, and has been the same for over 10yrs.
ReplyDelete^ Thank god another Petite has problem with the sizing. Coincidentally, I e-mailed JCrew just last night (well, early this morning, PST @ 1:00 a.m.) out of sheer frustration with the sizing. Has anyone else e-mailed them?
ReplyDeleteI agree that sizing at JCrew has gone completely crazy...especially with the knits. I'm a large have been for years and I'm fine with it...full chest, long torso. The last few items I ordered in a large: soft tee cardigan and shirred ruffles tank, I am swimming in. What gives? It's super annoying to order several items in the size you have worn for years and have to return everything. More and more items are online only which is making fit a huge issue. Nobody has time for this ordering/returning/re-ordering nonsense...people are going to lose interest. Enough is enough JCrew, please go back to "normal" sizing.
ReplyDeleteCaptain Crew, re the Nottingham Boots. If you put your size choice in, Final Sale pops up.
ReplyDeleteCory & CaptainCrew
ReplyDeleteSo agree with you about the sizing. I should be a small in tops. 90% of my JCrew sweaters and t's are smalls. Then this spring the painter t's, perfect cami, slug ruffle tank... I'm an extra small. Fortunately I was in a store trying them on but I now hesitate to order even t's from Final Sale.
I recently bought some pants from Eddie Bauer and checked the size charts to be sure. I am a size 2 in J Crew and Gap. When I looked at the measurements for Eddie Bauer, I was a perfect size 4! This is Eddie Bauer! The store I buy clothing at for my mom! I think it's crazy that I am a size 4 at EB and a size 2 at JC. I am a long-time shopper at JC and think the vanity sizing is ridiculous. They're going to have to start offering XXS and 00.
ReplyDeleteOops - slub ruffle tank, not slug.
ReplyDeleteHey Gary, no you're not the only one; but we're definitely in the minority.
ReplyDeleteI am totally with you on the cotton/linen shawl cardigan, too warm here for me to use one till fall. I prefer th desert boots over bucks.
Has anyone tried the Jakarta Dress (item 15195)? It looks really cute but I can't believe they didn't make it in the gorgeous navy? WHAT? I am not sure how the color offered (bronzed twig) will look on me.
ReplyDeleteI have had the same sizing problems. I did order the one top being offered in XXS. Every XS top I order is huge! I am small but definitely know people that are smaller...the sizing is crazy!
Courtney - I haven't tried the ikat halter dress, but if it fits like the linen halter dress, it may add weight to the hips. It did on me.
ReplyDeletePOPBACK ALERT: Size 2 dazzling dots skirt (one)
Last week the Tretorns were $55 and then "sold out" (pulled offline?) quickly. They are back, but are now $68. Meh. :/
ReplyDeleteHi again,
ReplyDeleteI gotta agree w. my fellow JCAs re sizing. It's v. frustrating!
I have quite a few older pieces in my closet & am constantly amazed at the difference in sizing over the last few years (8,6,4 p6, p4 etc.). I know we shouldn't judge ourselves by the size # -but it does make ordering online simpler if that # is consistent.
I've mentioned this frustration several times when ordering over the phone. Most esp. I've noted that special size customers have to pay extra (shipping & handling) than others because we have to order online / catalogue only items. Sadly, most of the CSAs, while sympathetic, are also stuck with the rules as they stand.
I am thrilled that JCrew offers alternative styles & sizing... I just wish they were more readily available. I get discouraged sometimes in the B&M by the limited options. I often end up "sizing down" in reg or ordering over the red phone (when available). I'm certain it's equally frustrating for my fellow special size JCAs.
I'm equally puzzled by the recent trend in limiting the sizing. I thought that the more unusual sizes were part of a growing market that jcrew, as a competitive clothier, would want to tap. In fact, I saw an article not too long ago :
