"Thanks!" to many of you, including Pixelant, Suzy, & Proudfeet (in this post), who shared with us J.Crew's latest promotion.
J.Crew is offering 20% off your entire order of $150+ with promo code TOPSECRET and $175+ with promo code SECRET. This offer expires 6/17/09.
Do you think you will take advantage of this offer? If so, please share! ;)
P.S. I am finally home from my vacation and I am planning to go through all the comments & emails in the next few days- and will update with new posts accordingly. "Thanks!" for all the well-wishes! I had a great time overall. :)
I'm trying to decide whether or not to buy the Goddess Gown. I think that's what I want to wear to my wedding for pictures, vows & dinner and then change into a fun Alexander McQueen cocktail dress for the party. I actually put it in my cart this morning and thought to myself--I really wish they'd do a 20% private sale offer. One hour later I get the email. That's a sign, right?

ReplyDeleteMan, another secret sale??! ive spent over a thousand dollars in less than a month and a half w/ crew, all these sales and splurging and so forth im all shopped out for a bit. Thursday i was with a date waiting for our table to be called and we stopped by a Crew upstairs to kill some time, of course I couldnt leave without @ least another button up. Ive gotta seriously chill out for just a sec or two, I may need to stay away from this blog as well!!
ReplyDeleteJust when you thought you were out, they pull you back in:)
ReplyDeleteI took advantage of the 20% off + free shipping last week, so I don't think I'll be shopping with this latest promo.....
ReplyDeleteI don't think I will take advantage of this, I really need to focus on Fall clothes coming in the next rollout. I can't imagine there's anything in summer I actually need.
ReplyDeleteI did take advantage of some full priced things that I've wanted for awhile. The sale section has been lousy lately.
ReplyDeleteI really need to stop the spending tsunami I've been on for the last month. I must have enough summer stuff to last me till September... plus, I'll surely want some new pieces for the fall!
ReplyDeleteBought lots of good stuff in the sale section with the 20% off and free shipping last week. I was pleasantly surprised at the great updates in the sale section lately!
ReplyDeleteThis PROMO is easy to pass on...minimum is too high and having to pay for shipping as well...pass.
Not sure where to post this, but for anyone hunting down the Library skirt I just called the San Marcos outlet and they are sold out. The rep I talked to said that the store was inundated with calls and she wishes someone would update the blog to let everyone know they're gone. So, just passing the word along! :)
ReplyDeleteHi All!
ReplyDeleteI got an email that said PRIVATE SALE.
20% OFF of $150 or More. Use code TOPSECRET.
Ummm....my email has "TOPSECRET" code with purchase of $150.00!!
ReplyDeleteBut maybe that is 'topsecret' haha.
to PIXELANT: sorry to repeat! we posted at the same time. LOL
ReplyDeleteI actually reconsidered, and ordered the Super 120s papillion dress.....
ReplyDeleteWelcome home Alexis!
ReplyDeleteI don't have my eye on anything currently so will likely pass on this promo. Thanks for sharing the codes.
I wonder if there is a code for $100 or $125. There has been in the past....
ReplyDeleteI am wondering what the promo will be on Thurs. or this weekend...
It seems waiting is the best for deals...as last week proved.
I am going to hold off...
Welcome back Alexis! I hope you had a fantastic time and that you'll share a little about your trip! :)
ReplyDeleteAs for the Private Sale, I won't be ordering anything.
I have spent way too much money at J.Crew lately. I think...okay, I KNOW I have a problem!!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back Alexis!!
Does anyone know when new arrivals will hit the website? There's nothing else I really want right now online.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back Alexis! I'm passing on these sales. I'm only interested in the navy print skirt and shorts released last week. Happy shopping everyone!
ReplyDeleteMy guess is new arrivals will be on the website Thursdays, the day after this code ends. That way J.Crew can roll them out with no coupons, etc.
ReplyDeleteyay welcome back!!
ReplyDeleteHi Alexis,
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a wonderful time. It's nice to have you back with us.
I won't be doing any shopping this time around.
How are the pencil skirts (the watercolor floral print in particular) for sizing? Should I buy my normal JCrew pans/capri size? I have straight hips and a bit of a middle. TIA!
ReplyDeleteI got an e-mail that said 20% off a $150.oo purchase with code: TOPSECRET
ReplyDeleteKendra,
ReplyDeleteI tried on the watercolor floral skirt when it first came out in a 2. I take a size 2 in all of my j. crew skirts, including pencil skirts. The floral skirt did nothing for me. I was tres disappointed, because it is so gorgeous. It basically accentuated my bootie and was a bit overly tight there, but it was big around the waist and the pattern was really overwhelming on me. I'm 5'2. I thought when trying it on that it would look fab on a really tall, leggy gal - with no hips. So, hopefully it works for you.
I'm holding out on j. crew until fall. I'm on a shopping ban until August. Lord, give me strength.
Sneak peak at the summer stuff!

FYI: I have the new catalogue for July/2009. There was an interesting top called the cotton/silk tee with flower necklace available in white and papaya for $98. It lierally looks like they attached a small color matched flower leigh to the neckline with a ribbon tie back. Item no. 14818u. There is also a little white dress called the garden dress (one of Jenna's picks) for $68 - looks sort of like the trellis tank with ruffles at the bustline and thin straps, lined dress - $68, item no. 1568u. There were also the peep toe Joley and flats in a patent tortoise print. Oh, and the skirt that has a brown background with the navy and blue flowers is a pencil skirt called the silk indigo floral skirt - retails for $128, item no. 1670iu.
ReplyDeleteKendra ~
ReplyDeleteI'm 5'5", fairly regular/athletic build and take a size 4 in the pencil skirts.
I find I can size down from what I take in JC pants -- I'm between a 4 and a 6 for most of their pants.
So, I go down from a 6 pant to a 4 pencil skirt.
Hope that helps :)
I think there might be a post that was specifically for requests to FFM, but I can't seem to find it.
ReplyDeleteAnyways, FFM, if you get this, can you help me with ideas for outfits with the Delfine Pencil Skirt and the Pansy Jacquard Skirt?
Your outfits are always so creative and I always get compliments when I wear them!
Thanks!
Sophie: I think it is a sign! I think the goddess gown is so gorgeous. Their silk tricotine dresses are such nice quality. I say go for it!
ReplyDeleteAnd welcome back, Alexis!
I will definitely not be buying anything with this promo. I am on a shopping ban unless one popback shows up: the double serge pencil skirt in ivory, which I know it never will, so I'm safe!
Welcome back, Alexis!
ReplyDeleteDid you see Mr. & Mrs. O?
Trying to take a vacation from shopping along with the real vacation. I just can't do it this time with the ride-along, b/c I know I would keep it all.
ReplyDeleteBluenana, thanks for the post about the San Marcos store. I hope the skirts went to happy JCAs!
ReplyDeleteHutton - Those don't look like anything new - looks like a bunch of pictures from J.Crew's lookbook that have been up on the site for well over a month.
ReplyDeleteJcrewcrazy - Garden dress is not new. It's been out since April.
Cliquot & Jersey- Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteJersey09-- Do you buy your JCrew pencil skirts a size smaller than JCrew pants?
I am usually a 2 in JCrew pants (and dresses) --although as of late, some of the 2's have been a bit bigish. I have a straight/nonexistent hips & butt and a bit of a tummy/totally undefined waist.
I just measured myself and came out with 34.5-35" hips and 32-33" waist (around the belly button)-- not sure how this is possible, as I wear 26/27 jeans, lol...
Bottom line.. does anyone have advice on whether I should get a 2 or size down to a 0 (im 5'7" if that helps) ?
TIA!!
Kendra,
ReplyDeleteI have almost the exact measurements as you do except I am 2 inches shorter:). I sized up in the Watercolor Pencil skirt to a 6 so I could wear it a little lower on the non-existent waist but I also don't wear pencil skirts tight either for comfort reasons. It is a little loose around the hips since I have the straight figure. I wear a 4 in last fall's Belle skirt and normally a 4 in their pants with no stretch (buttery twills) and a 2 in pants with stretch (like the Madison chinos and trouser jeans). Hope this helps a little and good luck!
Anyone in MD (CB)ordered a feather weight cotton cardigan? They sent it to me. I think my jacket might be sent to you.
ReplyDeleteJcrew ...
ShuLvr, FFM, Kat, IRL, Sharon, Irene, Em: Thanks for welcoming home- its good to be back!!! :)
ReplyDeleteSallyO: It's funny you should mention the Obamas, b/c I actually saw the car he was in, with the official Presidential seal and the security team trailing the vehicle. Although he was in the car, the windows were too tinted for me to actually see him. :)
I have a question that I realize people can't definitively answer, but I'd love to hear what you think. Why is it that some bikinis seem to sell out of one piece but not the other? The Milla bikini bottoms are available most days but seldom is the bikini top available, even after the sale updates.
ReplyDeleteI've seen the similar with other patterned swim separates, which seems a bit odd to me. Do you think people are just buying the top separately and wearing with a different bottom? Or what?
Kendra ~ I'm betting you could wear a size 0 in the pencil skirt, but you may prefer to wear it lower on your hips making a size 2 better. My skirts sit about 2 fingers below my belly button, and they hit just at the knee. If I wore mine any lower, the skirt length on my legs wouldn't be flattering. You have longer legs, so you could probably get away with the skirt sitting lower.
ReplyDeleteHey pretty boy, I hear you. I feel like I need a 12 step program. Twice in the past week I was almost at the submit your order part when I closed the window. Some small part of me just can't resist a 'deal'.
ReplyDeleteI was going to purchase a swim suit ( seersucker bikini)but the last time I bought one on J.Crew, I was very disappointed and sizing was off...anyone care to comment??
ReplyDeleteThanks to pixelant, suzy, proudfeet for sharing TOPSECRET
ReplyDeleteI received both codes, each in a different email account. If there is a major sale update with items too good to resist I might take advantage of the promo.
ReplyDeleteI feel a little overindulged with J.Crew right now and none of the new releases are really doing it for me. Besides, autumn is coming so it is time to purge the closet to make room for more. I definitely splurge a lot more on my fall/winter wardrobe.
Yay! Just received shipping confirmation for my Cotton medallion dress. Anyone else anxiously awaiting this dress? I can't even remember when I ordered it. I noticed the Poplin Drawstring dress is now waitlisted until August. hmmm
ReplyDeleteWelcome back, Alexis!! I hope you don't suffer from too much jetlag, and that you had a wonderful time! :D
ReplyDeleteIf J.Crew offered free shipping with this coupon I might get something, but with tax and shipping it's not worth it for me... and besides, my UPS guy has been delivering JC boxes way too often in the past few weeks. I'm saving for fall...or until a better deal.
ReplyDeletejcmama,
ReplyDeleteyes, if both were offered I would bite but otherwise, no....will be passing on this one.
If both get offered say on Wed. I know I would get what I have on my wish list. Otherwise, will patiently wait for lower prices on summer items or even fall. Nothing I HAVE to HAVE:)
Kendra,
ReplyDeleteI have bought size 4 and size 2 in j. crew pants. Size 4 petite is what I usually get, and then size 2 in skirts. City fit pants are what work best on me. I like my skirts to sit low as well like many other posters have noted. Maybe you should order two sizes and then just return the one that doesn't work if you live near a B and M.
Pink lemonade - I reviewed a couple swimsuits on my blog, including a seersucker one (seersucker petal)!
ReplyDeleteToast: Thanks! The jet lag did catch up with me though. ;)
ReplyDeleteI went to a B/M on Sunday and saw a lot of the new items and it appeared they were changing over the store that day. When I went home and checked the website I saw a lot of the items I saw posted.
ReplyDelete1) The store I frequent never has shoes but they had put out the ballet flats last Tuesday
2) I saw the soft tee ruffle top, a new cardigan, the ruffled hem dress, and the new twill matchstick pants and the dip dye dress. I saw a few skirts but don't remember much anymore.
Has anyone tried the Elodie vachetta flat sandals (16004)? The website says to size up, but I did that with the Danielle's and they were way too big. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThe dressy jersey strapless dress (item 14982) is $29.99 in store. It was $49.99 like a week ago.
