Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available in the Spring sale, or to see some new Summer arrivals {wahoo!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Disappointing trip to my B&M yesterday, and it is a Collection store! I already have what I like of the new arrivals, and much of the rest looks very much like the "OLD" arrivals! Sale section well stocked but mostly tired-looking knits.

My PS said one more Summer roll-out July 9 and Fall arrives Aug 2. The Campo, which has me swooning, will not arrive (at their store anyway) until the Aug rollout, so I ordered online. Left with nothing ... very unusual! Hope my fellow JCAs have better luck this weekend!

  2. I'll probably wait until next week to go since I'm waiting on one last order that won't arrive until then. (I had to order a different size swim top so I'll wait for it to arrive and then return the one that doesn't fit, along with a few other items that didn't work out when I go...no desire to make more than one trip over.) Have a great weekend everyone! :)

  4. Ruffles, thanks for the info about the fall rollout date. I will be at my B&M on Aug 2!!!

Any word lately on discounts for suiting in stores? I have to buy a suit soon and remember seeing % off suiting signs often. Not sure if that's the case anymore...

  5. I have a gift card and might swing by to see if any of the summer stuff got reduced further. I was in the other day with my 3 boys- not fun and I didnt really get to look!!
    have a terrific weekend everyone!

  6. I have one of those conditional gift cards ($25 off, but have to spend $125+, blagh), so I may stop in and see if there's anything worth buying.

  7. The Walt Whitman Mall in Long Island has a bunch of the dressy jersey strapless dresses in navy and charcoal for $29.99. There seemed to be a good selection of sizes, and they were NOT on final sale. Good luck for anyone that wanted one :)

  8. I saw the floral straw beach bag (both in light khaki & warm shell color) for $19.99 in store and it's $39.99 online.

  9. I won't be going to J. Crew this weekend, but I did just get in my order from last week:

Silk georgette pleated top - I wear a 6 on top, so I ordered a 6. What arrived wears like a 16. If I had had a friend with me, we could have both worn this top at the same time. Going back!

Merino pinwheel cardigan in putty - pretty, pretty, pretty. Small fits well. Major keeper!

Crystal flower ring (peach dots in the center) - wonderful!!

So, that's it for me and J. Crew for a while. You'd think that with the econonmy, J. Crew would be trying to entice its customers to buy instead of turning us off with that final sale.

  10. Oooh - just received my Campo bag. This was major lust at first sight on the web and is now love at first sight in person. The leather is that wonderful stuff that gets better with age, like your father's briefcase or classic Coach bags. I can't wait for this bag to get a few scratches and worn parts so it looks "lived in". I bought the burnt sienna color and could not be more pleased. The shape is very balanced. Best of all, because of the conservative strap length, I can wear this on my shoulder, as a tote (will not hang down too far) or over my elbow. Size-wise, this bag is the right size for me. I know there has been some discussion on that matter, but personally do not find it huge. However, because of the shape and the stiffer leather, it might be overwhelming to others. It is almost exactly the same size as my Uptown tote, but with the stiffer leather, has more presence. J. Crew went compartment crazy on this bag! There is a big pocket on the front with a pleat and another without the pleat on the back. Both have magnetic closures. There are smaller pockets on the outside ends of the bag too. All of these are visible on the web picture. Inside, there are two large pockets on either side of the bag. Built into those are places for your cell phone and PDA. The other side has a small zipper pouch. There are four little metal feet on the bottom. The only thing I do not like about this bag is that leather smell. You know, the one that hits you over the head when you walk past Wilson's Leather in the mall. However, from past experiences, I know that will lessen with time. This bag is beautifully styled but not at all trendy. It is quite a classic shape and size actually and I can see myself using it for many years. I do have one long-term concern. The possibility of the gold-tone from the hardware rubbing off does worry me somewhat. I think the metal from the Jamie or Owen Hobo might have been better. However, this bag was less expensive than either of those. Very pleased with this purchase. Not quite good as a summer bag though, so will be packed away until September. Hope this mini-review helps anyone who was on the fence.

  11. jessie b: Thanks for the review! I've had my eye on this bag and I think I might need to jump in and get it!

I stopped by my B&M yesterday in Scottsdale, AZ. Cute new stuff, but the store seemed a little empty. Almost all of the cute new skirts were sold out, the sale section was whimpy, but they had some new embellished tees. They had ribbon looped on the front in the shape of a flower, and another had a decorative yolk with sequins, etc. Cute, but I wasn't in love. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

  12. Check out jcbellemarie's blog for pics of the new tee's I just mentioned! :)

  13. I stopped in yesterday to make a few returns, and ended up purchasing the Anemone-link sandals in the gold (with lime green links), on major sale for $69.99, and the glass pearl necklace with black and pearl colored beads (I don't see it offered online). I'm shopped out, between online and b&m. If I stop back in it will be to return anything from online that didn't work out.

Off topic - checking out gap.com, they have a corsage tank (so far in white only), in case anyone is interested!

  15. Pansy jacquard dress (#13239) stocked in sizes 0-12, on sale for $129.99

  16. Just got back from the B&M with some returns. It looks like the cafe capri pants are now $29.99 in store. There was nothing that caught my interest with the exception of the bow skirt that I picked up in orange for $69.99. I figure that it would go well with the perfect fit contrast shirt.

    OT/
In case anyone is interested Bath and Body is winding down it's semi-annual sale and today they have $3.00 shipping. Code is: SHIP3 I picked up some gift sets for super cheap. They make cute little gifts for the ladies at school on appreciation week. Oh, and try their Sake cleanser (sale:$3.75) - works just as well as the one made by FRESH.

    Excellent review, thanks!

Any chance of posting photos of the campo bag? Perhaps a sideways view of the bag and shot of the bag on someone's shoulder? This would be great to get a sense of the campo's depth and perspective against a person holding it. The photo on J.Crew's site aren't doing the bag enough justice, I think.

    Thanks!

  20. OT but can someone tell me what Veg-tanned Deerskin is ?? (handbag material)

  21. I'm going to try and stop by this weekend to reluctantly return a beach cover-up that overwhelmed my shape, and could not be tamed by any belting techniques.

I'm also still debating on returning a pair of nickel scout chinos. After seeing an online pic of it, I was aching to try it on and thought size 0 would sell out fast. Full price, comfy material, a tad relaxed in fit and a good color. I'm worried as I'm a petite and it only looks good slightly rolled and with sandals. Plus, I can't shake the feeling that it's got a weird retro silhouette. I live in bootcuts. Plus I don't love that it's already distressed right on the left thigh. If it snags on something in the wash I will be devasted (full price purchase!). Has anyone had luck and success with the scout chino's fit and look, or pre-distressed jcrew clothes?

I'm also debating another piece, the Casa mosaic cotton petal cami. I love love love the print, but is it full price love? The fit is a tad too tent-like in the middle, and it doesn't come in petite. phooey. Don't know how I'm going to finesse my bra straps out of sight while wearing it, either. sorry for the long post!

  22. Happy Life - Here is a decent answer for your question: Vegetable-tanned leather is tanned using tannin and other ingredients found in vegetable matter, tree bark, and other such sources. It is supple and brown in color, with the exact shade depending on the mix of chemicals and the color of the skin.
Obviously, they are using deerskin in your example, but the tanning process would be the same.

  23. OT - the cotton denim safari jacket was sold out as of Monday. I called CS to do a "find it" and they said they had so many calls for this jacket that they were pretty sure it wouldn't be found for me.

If you like this style and see one in your B&M, I wouldn't wait to purchase it.

  24. I'm going tonight to return some items delivered yesterday, among them the 120s fluted skirt and the cocodrillo cardi. For those who are curious I have reviewed them here.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Baybaybay I also did a find it for the denim safari jacket on Tuesday and it is due to arrive on Monday. The find it took longer than usual and I was beginning to think I had missed out.

The item is no longer showing on the website, unless you click on the photo under "Jenna's picks" and then the infamous "We're sorry..." message comes up.

Can't wait to get mine, it looks so cute.

Good luck with your find it search.

  29. Hi ladies! I've been thinking about the linen watercolor floral dress (that's actually on the home page of this site!) for some time time. Now it's on sale, I'm really tempted. Does anyone have an opinion on it? I'm concerned about the the curved seam across the belly, which might make me look bigger than I actually am. Thanks for any advice.

  30. Blueana - Sorry about not being able to include pictures of the bag. MY camera situation is iffy at best. Plus, I am literally past my due date, so pictures for size perspective would be pretty useless, from me, at this point!
However, I did pull out my tape measure to get some real-life measurements. From the outside tip of one end pocket to the other is 15". From the top of the handle to the bottom of the bag is 17". Fully stuffed with tissue(from J. Crew), the bag is 7.5" deep. The only measurement that changed with unstuffing is the depth. When you take the stuffing out, the bag does not collapse much. Lastly, I find the end to end measurement somewhat misleading, because of how the end pockets are situated on the bag. Hope this helps.

  31. I'm not going this weekend... like many others, I'm waiting for fall clothes! And my next reward card!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I went by and did a return (shoes, cardi, skirt) this morning. One SA was happy to see me as I wear the same shoe size as her---she's purchased many of my returns! Two of them could not wait to dig into the things I brought back.

The sale section was pretty weak but I did notice that the windows had wording about their sale. No extra % off or final sale.

The store was empty of customers---an hour after opening I was the only one in there.

  33. baybaybay and anyone else who's interested in the cotton safari jacket: It's still available at the Georgetown, DC b&m. :)

  34. Size perspective of the campo bag can be seen in the fall 2009LookBook.

It is shown with a model and is huge - the LookBook is on the web on a couple of other blogs.

  35. I had my PS hold the denim safari jacket the day it arrived in my B&M. It is so cute, and such a beautiful blue color. One of those classic casual pieces that will look good for years. Glad I picked it up as it is totally sold out here.

  36. Drewablank, what sizes were available at the Georgetown store?

  38. I went to a local B&M today. I didn’t expect so much before going, but there were many sales items. Surprisingly, some of items from July catalogue were already on sales. No additional sales, but the store was very crowded.

Linen scoop neck sweater: $59.99 (online full price $88)
3" horizon-stripe mini skirt in green stripe: $39.99
    3" horizon-stripe short in pink stripe: $39.99
Bow skirt (bronzed twig, tea rose): $69.99 (?)
Skinny leather belts (metallic blush/silver, pale gold): $19.99
Classic leather belts (stone, etc): $19.99
Triple strand patent belt: $29.99 (?)
Glass-bead ribbon necklace (dark fog x beige ribbon): $29.99
Floral watercolor pencil skirt in size 8: $69.99(?)

I am still wondering whether I should keep Havona tank and Metallic Cotton Linen Pencil Skirt or not…maybe I need to go back tomorrow :(

  39. Slightly OT, but I stopped at a J.Crew outlet yesterday and they are offering an extra 30% off the clearance section! They had a pretty good selection too!

  40. Visited the Carousel Center store (Syracuse) after a family graduation. Not impressed. Small store with snotty staff. Great sale section though. So much stuff that I didn't check sizes. If you are looking for the ikat print cardigan they have one left in S. Lawn skirts, charmeuse pencils in pewter, chambray Wendys, linen constellations, Georgias in champagne (?), sorbet stripes in tan/grey. Lots of knit dresses at $19.99. Hope this helps someone.

  41. My daughter and I went to King of Prussia B&M plus Crewcuts last night.

I exchanged Petra flats for Tortoise flats. The Tortoise flats are so so soft and comfortable. They run TTS, maybe just slightly big. Most of the JC flats are cut short at the toe area though, so a little bit of your toe is showing. Way too low on the Petras, but not as much with the Tortoises.

The sale area was pretty good, just nothing I need right now. One Frenchie slicker there in tan, lots of minis, shorts (including the Ikat in all sizes), sweaters, beach coverups and tops. No extra percent off.

The guys stuff was expanded there and they have more shoes and belts and stuff than the last time I checked. Decent sale section there as well.

Crewcuts is small at that mall, but their sale section is usually excellent. She is so very skinny and tall, so pants and shorts never fit her even with the adjustable waist, so I go there for tops and dresses. The mermaid tee and ruffle skirts are back on her as soon as they are washed!

  42. I scored a tiered ruffle skirt at the Bridgewater, NJ store on Saturday. I got it for $29.99. At $148 I didn't give it a second look, but at that price, I can style it up and love it!

    ReplyDelete
  43. ^ OK, that is something I totally don't get. If I don't like something at full price, I won't consider buying it on sale, no matter how good the deal. If it isn't worth all the money, it isn't worth any of my money.

  44. jessie b. - thanks for the fantastic review of the Campo bag - or not so thanks b/c now I am totally lusting after it. Hmmmm...

  46. HeidiG - I just checked out your blog. I had to laugh when I saw your post about Candlewood Lake and Down the Hatch. I live in New Fairfield.
My sister got to see the Campo yesterday. She doesn't carry handbags at all, but fell in love.

  47. Shulvr,
I totally agree. $30 is money I could use towards something I really want! (That is how people IMO end up with a full closet of clothes and you only wear 1/2 of them! It must be love at first site (or pretty darn close) and I wait for the item to go on sale. Not the other way around sale=love

    ReplyDelete
  48. ShuLvr and Genny - I decide what something is worth when I first see it. Sometimes, it will be full price and then I purchase immediately, like the Campo bag. Another example though was the origami sweater. I determined it was worth about $100 to me. So, when it went down to $99, it was a purchase for me. I get your points, just do not understand how you can totally dismiss that something might have a value (to a shopper) lower than it's original price which might make it a worthwhile purchase.

    ReplyDelete
  49. jessieb,
That is not what I was saying at all. You missed my point....

  50. Ohmygosh, dickfiddy, I totally didn't see your comment 'til now! I'm so sorry, but as of last week, they were pretty stocked up on all the sizes. But now that I've checked, the site seems to have re-stocked on the jacket! :)

  51. Last Sunday (28 June), I went to the Santa Monica B&M and got lucky with necklaces. A cherry blossom in deep rose and the one I really wanted, the two-strand honey-colored beads. For $70 and tax, that was not a bad deal.
