Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. I’ll get the thread started this morning. I don’t really need anything but haw anyone found anything at Jcrew they like for spring? Is there anything catching your eye in the sale section that can transition well to warmer weather? My black work pants are starting to look a bit tired and I may search for a replacement.

    1. I stopped in store yesterday to checkout new arrivals. I've found that I need to see items in person to really get a sense of the color and styling options. Lurex chiffon midi dress in patchwork print is much prettier in person; it's hard to see the metallic accents online. I also liked the double breasted Alfie blazer in ivory and the patchwork linen pants are very nice. I will purchase the linen pants at some point when they go on sale. I don't typically wear double breasted blazers, so that's why the Alfie is a pass, but I do like it, just not for me. Same is true for the design of the midi dress.

I ordered tie waist cashmere jumpsuit in navy. I've purchased more neutrals from J Crew during fall/winter and have worn them a lot.

I've been receiving my sale orders of items that were on my wishlist. I was just waiting for end-of-season discounts. Bubble sleeve sequin top in clay sand; I saw a young women wearing this top during the holidays with high waisted denim and it was super cute. I tried the top in store, so I know that I'll wear this one. It runs big, so you can size down; I did not because I like the extra length of my usual size. Also waiting on cashmere relaxed hoodie in fair isle. I'm planning to layer with primaloft shirt jacket in navy. I've worn the shirt jacket a lot since I was able to score a sale pop back. It's very cute and I've styled multiple ways, e.g. layering with Italian cashmere hoodie and pairing with Saturday pants. I can see why it was a fan favorite. Also waiting on cocoon sweater blazer in heather graphite. I tried this one in store too when it first arrived in stores and put it on my wishlist. I like the relaxed fit of my usual size. Planning to pair with cashmere cardigan and pants from this season. Received red silk feather mules; fit is tts and they will be a fun option.

    2. If you’re talking about BG122, the tie waist linen cargo pants, I’m interested too, but once again, there’s no tall option. I’m also waiting on the rumored 20% promo for cardholders that’s supposed to arrive next month.

    3. @ST, yes, those are the pants. Also, I received Cocoon Sweater Blazer today and it works well. I really like the style but held off on purchasing until a super sale (less than $30) because of the fabric blend. Fingers crossed it will hold up.

  2. i'm on the hunt to try and update my husband's wardrobe a bit, some of his items are looking a bit threadbare and need replacing. however, i'm not seeing much at j.crew, gap, or brooks brothers that is catching my eye. has anyone found an alternative for their spouses?

    1. I shop for my son at Nordstrom since he likes Hugo Boss. Neiman Marcus Outlet (Last Call) has also been a good option. J Crew, however, is still about 80% of his shopping/wardrobe.

    2. Mack Weldon & Club Monaco come to mind.

    3. Also perhaps American Giant? Never shipped there (yet) but saw their ladies' ponte pants on the 9-to-5-chic blog and am very interested.

  3. Just came back from the store. Item BG453, the smocked dress in starry swirl, is okay but not lined. The knit midi dress in stripe was in store and for those who like it, the material is thick. The Flora Obscura wrap jacket was in store and looked nice, but I worry it will look like a bathrobe so I didn’t try it.

  4. Got the majority of my recent orders today from JCrew, G-Star and Nordstrom.
JCrew #reviews and #tryon pics. Posted in the JCA unofficial FB group.

Lady jacket in maritime tweed, Item BA486, size 4, black. The neckline on this makes it unwearable to me and very matronly. It’s too bad because it’s a little less boxy than previous versions of this style I’ve tried. But not one shirt worked under it. Lynn had the same issue.

Cashmere mockneck sweater, Item BB404, Color: BRIGHT POPPY, Size: SMALL. I really like the cut of this and glad I went for small instead of XS but when I think of bright poppy I think of red. This is a deep coral/pink. It’s not a super heavy cashmere but I like it. The color is not my usual AT ALL and I don’t know how much I’d wear it but I do like it. But it’s not poppy. The picture looks way more red than it is. I feel like azalea would be a more accurate flower name for the color.

Cashmere classic-fit crewneck sweater. Item BA400, Color: BURGUNDY Size: SMALL. The small fits well for layering underneath. The hem is a little wider than expected but it works ok.

Alfie topcoat in vintage plaid Italian wool, Item BC998 size 6.
Definitely runs bigger than the Dalton plaid topcoat but it’s fun. Mostly poly and acrylic. Lightweight. Not sure how they dare call this wool (22 percent) but the colors and style are fun—I feel like I need a big red floral pin.

    1. Tie-neck silk chiffon top, Item BD757, Color: BLACK Size: SMALL. Reviews are mostly bad from what I read. Small is the larger of my sizes but the right call here. It needs to be steamed but I think for the sale price it could be a fun statement top. Because of the lightness of the silk the ruffle doesn’t stand out so much.

Tie-waist top in organic cotton voile Item BB276 Color: BLACK
Size: X-SMALL. Reviews on this across the board are pretty bad but I love a light cotton top for summer and find the fit much more flattering than I expected. I was able to double the tie around my waist and I kinda liked it.

University terry long cutoff short with logo embroidery
Item AY444, Color: BLACK, Size: X-SMALL and University terry logo sweatshirt Item BA373 Medium. Shorts are Not terribly flattering but I think for around the house or walking around the neighborhood on summer nights they work.

Jogger pant in cotton-cashmere, Item AU519
Color: BLACK, Size: SMALL, XS. Cotton-cashmere pullover sweatshirt. Item AY829. Color: BLACK Size: SMALL. I didn’t get the sweatshirt yet but tried both sizes of the pants on with another sweater and the black Ella sweater coat and brown clog boots. We have a really long car ride coming up and I think it will work really well for me and look nicer than Terry sweats. The pants sit low on my hips and are loose so I might stick with the smaller size but not sure.

Thomas Mason® for J.Crew relaxed tie-neck shirt in stripe
Item BB261. Color: BURGUNDY PINSTRIPE. Size: 6. I prefer the solid white in this if I were to tie the bow but loose I think this version works.

Ribbed cutaway tank in stripe, Item AY468, Color: BLACK NATURAL PETRA STR. Size: SMALL. Super thin but I like the cut. I’d consider this in solid white and black.

Nordic boots, Item F8444, Color: BRONZED CLAY. I feel like this looks darker than the clog boots in the same color. Didn’t try on yet.

Pull-on chambray camp short, Item AY910! Color: BAYSHORE WASH. Size: X-SMALL. Run huge, like I’m wearing my husbands boxers.

Got my husband the Nordic boots with the removable liner. They don’t have much support but are a good casual option when he wants a warmer or waterproof boot. The other items I ordered for him didn’t arrive yet.

and previously a poster mentioned NATORI feather bras. I tried a bunch of sizes and do think I found a winner.

I also added two new G-Star pants. deck wide leg jeans in ecru. I wasn’t sure at first but tried with a nice white tee, tan belt and white Stellas and off the bat my husband loved them, the color is a unique blend of pale gray and cream so a little different than a typical off white jean but I think they’re cool. The other pair I love is 3D ultra high fatigue pant. They fit the way I wanted the JCrew camp pant or the foundry pants to fit, high rise, great deep olive green, sturdy cotton.

  5. I haven’t found anything I really love in new arrivals. I had some rewards expiring so I bought the Classic-fit cozy gauze shirt in blue white Item BG253, it runs very large, I normally wear either an 6 or 8 but got this in a 4. I like the material & think it will be nice for summer. I ordered but haven’t received yet the quilted puffer lady jacket with PrimaLoft® in black item BA586 I thought I would try since it’s on promo & not final sale. I got a Jcrew gift card for Christmas and have been saving it for something special so hope they come through. I really miss the cute shoes & cardigans.
