  1. OT post but I thought some JCAs might be interested … did anyone watch the PBS doc “Riveted: The History of Jeans” this week? Link here: https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/americanexperience/films/riveted-history-of-jeans/

Really fascinating history of denim fabric, the indigo dyeing process, how jeans became riveted, and the transition from laborer pants to cowboy culture to designer fashion. Almost all my jeans are J Crew and I found myself running to my closet to look at them in a new light. Good film, good way to spend an hour on a winter night. I learned a lot.

    2. I will check that out for sure, thanks! I just read "Ametora" about Japan and classic American Style. There was a huge section on denim!

    3. That's added to my viewing queue. Thanks Ruffles! Before I watch it, I'm curious and have to ask if it's true that denim originated in Italy?

    4. 3ppm, there are several experts interviewed about the origins of both denim fabric and indigo dyes. There were 3 regions/countries producing a similar cloth at the same time in history, and I won’t spoil it but yes, Italy is one of them!

  2. I hate to be the first to have a complaint for the day but here goes... I ordered the cashmere waffle leggings and they are awful. They looked like a fuzzball and sagged in the knees and butt after 1 hour of wearing them. I have several cashmere hoodies and the cashmere joggers from at least 3 years ago with no major problems. So, after watching and contemplating the major sale prices, I decided to buy the leggings. Big mistake! I had read that several people loved them but they were a major fail for me. I guess its true that everything can't be a win!

  3. @Rashawnda, that's awful, I'm so sorry. I read some reviews of those recently (and one on the JCrew website included a pic of horrid pilling!). Just dreadful. J Crew should be ashamed. They can do better.
