This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale
items at our
various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If
you are stopping
by a J.Crew store this weekend to see
what's available (if
anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in
person, maybe you might be
willing to share that with us in this
post. In particular, if you could
share with us a few of the
noteworthy items that are available, at
what prices, and potential sizes
the store is carrying (as well
as the store location)- that would be
fantastic!
Also,
please let us know if your local store is
carrying an additional percent
off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)
P.S.
I noticed that many of
you have already been reporting sale
items (and in which stores) in
other posts which by the way "thank
you!" :) I really appreciate how
helpful we are for each other!
The US website continues to offer way better deals than the Canadian website. (I know that US JCAs are not too enthused by the current promotion, but it is all relative.) The US website also offers the option to cancel an order for a short period of time after the order is placed. (This option does not exist on the Canadian website.) I placed an order this morning, then decided I wanted to add an item. J Crew offers free US shipping so I could have just placed a separate order but because I am using a cross border shipping service, I wanted to consolidate items as I pay per package, so I canceled the first order, thinking I could just add the cancelled items to my new order. I guess the items must take a while to get back into inventory because some of the items had disappeared and were not available to add. (I guess some of them were the last remaining item?)
ReplyDeleteSo I ended up not placing the order again - which is probably for the best.
Does anyone know how long it takes takes for items to get back into inventory after they are part of a cancelled order?
For Canadian JCAs who are interested in the details of cross border shopping using Shippsy (a cross border service), I posted the details Mon March 15 on this website.

I've been told it takes up to 24 hours for the online inventory to be updated.
Delete2nd question - any thoughts re the different sweatshirt materials? What is the difference between
ReplyDelete1) original cotton terry
2) vintage cotton terry
3) french terry
There may be other variations, too.
I have some of the v-neck hoodies AJ640 and the Big Sky sweatshirt AT804, both of which are original cotton terry and I really like this material and the fact that the interior is not fleece which will get "pilled" over time. How are these other variations different?
Any guidance would be appreciated since I have to purchase in order to see the difference in real life. Thank you.
IF you look up close online you can see the vintage cotton Terry has some texture or variation in the outside of the fabric, similar to the vintage cotton tees. I tried on the sweatshirt and joggers and I loved the fabric for its softness and look, more than the cut of the pieces. Looking up close the only difference I can see in the other two is maybe the loops inside the French Terry are a little different.
DeleteI have a pair of the vintage cotton joggers coming tomorrow.
I have several vintage cotton items. I found the joggers and pullover to be quite roomy in my regular size. I could have easily sized down. The zip front hoodie would be nice if it had pockets. The fabric is OK, but not the best quality. The fabric isn’t as nice as the big sky sweatshirt. My joggers have some pilling and they haven’t been worn very much. I don’t think they would stand up to heavy wear.
DeleteI agree with Jeanne re longevity of the vintage cotton fabric. (Which I noted in a post that got lost.) like the vintage cotton tees it feels fairly delicate. I like it but don’t expect to wear it for heavy duty use, for me they’re loungewear.
DeleteAnd sizing really depends. I like my joggers loose and I have a long torso so I don’t like the fit a size down, and the regular crew neck was fairly boxy on me, so I have to size up or it’s all too short.
I only wear my vintage sweats as loungewear, too. I don’t think they would hold up as gym wear. I wish they would make sweats out of the fabric they used for the weekend skinny sweatpants (circa 2013). I wore those things literally hundreds of times before they finally bit the dust.
DeleteI totally regret finally getting rid of my Saturday pants! They were a dream!
DeleteI made a trip into the city (um.. all 30 min on the subway) yesterday after work to return my khaki Camerons at Rockefeller Center. First time in a JC store in 1+ year. Rockefeller Center mid-week during the rush hour - it was almost empty, except for a handful of tourists taking selfies. I was maybe 1 of 3 customers in the store. The displays were pretty blah - stripes + florals (Liberty prints) - some tees, tiered dresses, ruffled pullovers -- very basic looking. Honestly the sign outside could have said LOFT or GAP and I wouldn't have known the difference. I touched a few fabrics of things I'd seen online but absolutely nothing color/print/design-wise compelled me to even want to try anything on, and the blah promo right now wasn't inspiring. The sale racks were stuffed but why anyone would pay those prices when a week ago the same stuff was 40% off is beyond me.
ReplyDelete@eeps, I wasn't grabbed by the colors for Spring like I have been in past years. When I would walk around the mall window-shopping, I expect J Crew to be a bright spot. This year there are muted little florals everywhere. I love my Liberty blouses, but I'm not a fan of the pioneer/prairie look dresses.

DeleteGoing tomorrow for returns! Yes to rockofelar! Big bad of returns! Most stuff form their last sale! Jeans for my daughter! Few tops! Quilted cocoon coat( too small), but cute! Will try to get a bigger size! Decided to return the liberty pump! Super cute! Just don’t know when I would wear it! I did keep the Sophie sweater in grey for $32 and Peyton pants in black for $12
I did also keep the Slub cotton crewneck T-shirt with embroidered tulips for $12 and light pink Cameron for $22( my second pair I’m this color, but they get dirty quick and I do like them). Overal not much! Tory Burch had their sale this week! Although I bought some stuff I am returning all except swim suit for my daughter! They are so expensive, but I do like their shoes and bags! Going on vacation next week! Some sun and beach which was long awaited.( Aruba). Keeping fingers crossed all goes well but excited to get out. Have a good Sunday everyone!
Enjoy Aruba! Are you doing a resort or renting a time share? I looked into it for June but we need to drive stuff down to our girls IN ATL so might make that into a vacation. Beach sounds nice though...
DeleteDoing an all inclusive resort. Riu! I did not want to be waking around looking for food and eating in with 2 grown teens! I still want to keep to ourselves if possible! I been to this resort before and it’s very spacious! Lots of outdoor dining! I wanted to have an option you take food and go by the pool
DeleteOr beach if I start to get my covid New Yorker paranoia of feeling crowded! I am still of opinion that transmission happens during dining together! I will keep you all posted but since we have not traveled since 2019 kids are super excited and so are we..I am little scared still, 😭😂.
I agree 100 percent! When we were there we did an all inclusive because I also didn’t want to wander looking for food at all hours. People do say the restaurants are good but I don’t believe anyone, it’s all shipped in so I don’t think of it as a foodie destination, which is fine!
Delete@Kate hope you have a fabulous trip!
DeleteThanks all! I will keep you all posted! I have lots of new jcrew stuff, I feel like I shopped 2 yrs ( sale stuff from last summer), few rompers! Dresses etc.... taking minimal stuff.... only small carryon no checking luggage! The only thing is the sunblock which i will have to buy there as I can’t bring as carryon. Traveling is different now; covid test for 4, 😉(after you find a place that does results on 1-2 days), insurance for 4, uploading of covid test and health declaration
DeleteI spent half the evening last night doing this....😂
Uh oh Kate, you're makng me nervous. I'm also going away soon - for my milestone birthday - and I don't have anything prepared such as insurance.. health declaration (what is that?)... I'm also staying at an all-inclusive to minimize interaction with locals, but my resort includes covid testing as part of the departure process. I usually don't buy travel insurance unless I'm planning to adventurous excursions like scuba diving or skydiving, which I'm definitely NOT planning this trip. Should I be buying health insurance??!
DeleteSo for Aruba Ed card is mandatory and is $30 per person! It’s basically covid coverage! Hospital stay! Testing! Expenses! I Usually don’t buy insurance either!
DeleteCVS does PCR testing with turn around time 1-2 days! All other places 3-5, so I was nervous! Took me forever to find cvs! So you have to test 72 hours prior! But annoying as most PCR COVID test labs 3-5 day turn around time! Thank god I found CVS!
For my 15 yrs old I am nervous as he is a minor and result will not be on the portal but will be texted to me! So o assume this will be time consuming when we get to Aruba to make sure we are all verified! NO RAPID TEST is ACCEPTED BY ARUBA! PCR only which is good standard and looks for covid protein vs particles and fragments in rapid test!
Health declaration: mine was in jet blue. Basically are you sick or symptomatic!
I can let you know after wed some time as to what actually happened 😂
Kate I thought jet blue sent you the test before your flight? It’s all so crazy!
DeleteOh and get stick sunscreen! I got like five sticks for each of us and we didn’t get sunburned (except for my youngest who attempted to get “color” the first day and didn’t put any on (thank goodness it was bad enough that she realized it wasn’t a smart idea.)
So jet blue has testing at the airport for free in jfk! Great system they work with compass app, upload results and skip lines in Aruba ! They open 9-5. My flight is 7:30! Lol .... so I tested outside to be ready! It’s a lot of unknown! Soon it will be second nature 😂😭😉.... good idea on Stick sunscreen!!! My daughter and I usually burn lol
DeleteI received the first item from last week’s sale orders, Ruffle-sleeve top with embroidered eyelet
ReplyDeleteItem AR971. Black, size small. Quick try on and it fits nicely through the shoulders and I love the lightweight gauzy cotton for summer, however the ruffly eyelet trim is odd. I knew it was risky so it’s not unexpected that it lies funny. I think I will just cut it as we discussed.
The rest of my orders should be here tomorrow. Nothing too exciting, mostly T-shirts with a pair of foundry pants mixed in.
Anyone own the Bennet unstructured leather loafers? How is the fit? tts? Are they comfortable? Soft? Good to wear at home?
ReplyDeleteYes I ordered a pair of these during the recent sale and they arrived today. I went with my larger 1/2 size rather than my 'usual' whole size which was a good call. The vamp is high and the shape tapers, so I thought the larger size was best. If you have a narrow or low volume foot that might be different.
DeleteThey are intended as 100% at home house shoes. Since the sole is thin they will work well for that. I think of them more as a slipper than a shoe. I expect the upper will mold to the shape of my foot which will not look perfect but should be comfortable. Not a great love, but a nice pair of slippers at the right price.
Thanks, pbanos. That was very helpful.
DeleteI stopped in at the Columbia Mall store to return my beloved Chateau Parka from the last great sale. Sadly, it didn't work for me. I tried to read every review but I ended up with too much room in the front trying to make up for the tight arms/shoulders. I will stick with the Classic Day Coats as I know exactly how they fit...beautifully! Anyway, the sale section was neat but not full (and I am not thrilled with the new arrivals). I managed to grab a pair of black pants, like I need another pair. I have no clue what they are but they fit perfectly. ;>) Enjoy your weekend JCAs!
ReplyDeleteI think that they are the Remi stretch pant but I didn't see a tag and they didn't fit like the white Remi pant (with a tag).
DeleteAlong with the Bennet loafer I also received the pink/white gingham cashmere sweater. I sized up to M which was a good thing, S would have been fitted and short. The cashmere feels nice, and the pattern is woven in not printed. I think that's why it's a bit thicker than a single color sweater. I'll have to try it with a few pants before I make a final decision.
ReplyDeleteI also received a double serge mini in Chartreuse. I ordered a 4 Tall to get the extra length. It's still above the knee. This is a really nice skirt for the sale price. It goes with a lot of my blouses, but shoes are not so easy with the color. But always safe with black, navy or beige I guess.
A red heather garter stitch cotton sweater for my Mr. I had ordered a black one in the fall, and he wore it a lot to WFH this winter, so I grabbed a second color at a great sale price . These sweaters are not going to last a long time, as the elbows will wear out, but they are a nice comfy basic.
Not sure you have, but chartreuse looks so good with brown suede and other bright colors. When I was trying to match my chartreuse car coat I found it worked best when I wore color, not black. We know how tricky that is for me so it continues to sit unworn. I’m
DeleteHoping maybe this spring. Sigh.
Hmmn, good idea. It looks great with my black/dark gold/orange-red Stubbs - but those don't go outside. I also have a pair of dark bronze pumps to try, and leopard flats, oh and I'll try the grey/ivory/black snake block heels too.

Got my orders. Le Specs sunglasses are nice, (now sold out).
ReplyDeleteBasic tees, all seem to run on the smaller side. Glad I sized up to Medium for most. Peace embroidered tee is really cute.
I think I prefer the cut of the Essential Tee over the Vintage cotton crew neck tee, which has a wider neck and maybe longer sleeves. I’m guessing these will shrink a little and hopefully soften up as the fabric doesn’t even feel like cotton, it’s so thin and scratchy but maybe there’s sizing or something in it.
Garment dyed foundry pants are OK...I’m glad I sized up as the model pics show a much larger fit. I could prob get the 00 or 0 on but they would not look good so fitted. They’re not bad and hopefully they break in to be better.
Vintage cotton joggers, comfy and for $20 better than most else I’ve tried from Nordstrom rack. I don’t see myself wearing them out, they’re not for the gym, they’re comfy loungewear. I like them loose and slouchy.
@Suz Has thanks for the reviews. Probably should have ordered the peace tee, if I didn't already have too many t's.
DeleteI’m not a big statement tee person but how could one go wrong with Peace?
DeleteI forgot I also got the relaxed turtleneck in cashmere in black, size small. It’s a generous fit and I like the cut much better than the boyfriend cashmere turtleneck from last winter (or maybe the year before). That one is the straighter cut with slits that I find harder to do a partial tuck. This relaxed one is a little shorter but less boxy—it’s a good cross between a chunky sweater and more tailored if that makes any sense. I think this cut works better with higher rise bottoms.
That sounds good, I know you are on a perpetual search for the ideal black sweaters! I picked up two of last years version (at $17 each) and agree they are boxy and do not tuck, even partial tuck well. I wore them with leggings for down time at home. For the price of a sweatshirt, I lounge around in cashmere.
DeleteThat’s how I feel as well. This feels like a denser knit which is nice. Less puffy.
DeleteReally great info you provided here.
