  1. Good news- per a J. Crew e-mail, the "holidays" return period extension is in effect for purchases 10/16 and forward. Must return items by Jan 10. I miss those good ol' days when you had 60 days to play the pricing return/rebuy game.

  2. Canadians can get 30% off for a few days! I have been waiting for this for a while. I'd like to get new tissue turtlenecks. The recent reviews are discouraging. People are complaining about changed fit and quality.

Can anyone who has both older and newer ones help with advice on any differences they have noticed. I have a number of them that are as old as 5 years plus. I wash them on gentle cycle in a mesh bag and lay to dry and am happy with the longevity. (They don't last forever, but they are called "tissue" turtlenecks so I don't expect them to :-). Because they are thin they are perfect for layering under sweaters (well, mostly sweatshirts these days) so I expect them to be a little less durable than a thicker knit but people are complaining about holes after one or two wears.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    1. I have an older one and got one last spring. I don’t think I’ve opened it yet but I’ll check.

    2. I received a new Fall 20 one when I ordered last years over the summer on a clearance and it went to 'backorder'. I would say the fit is noticeably smaller, enough so I would have liked the next size up. My normal size is S, but an M in this would have been better. It will still work as an under layer. I haven't worn or laundered.

    3. Yes, I’m so glad that we have a promo! I may have gone a little crazy with the retail therapy. I haven’t tried the turtlenecks this fall but last Christmas I bought a few and noticed that some colours were tighter than others. I always size up in them to begin with (normally I’m xs but buy them in S. A couple I had to buy in M last year). Hopefully they didn’t change them too much, I too love them for layering.

    4. Thanks for the feedback on sizing. I had "sized up" to S in past years, but I'm thinking I should probably go to a M in this year's version to be safe especially since returning is a pain. I particularly don't want it tight under the arms which is where the holes seem to start. But I impressed myself by not placing an order so far. Not sure how long it will last :-)

  3. I switched seasons in my closet last night while watching the Marie Kondo show on Netflix... was up til 2 a.m. refolding everything her way. Usually I find 2-3 JC sweaters, particularly merino wool Tippis, with moth holes. This year, only one - my Liberty collar Tippi. I went through a box of assorted extra threads/buttons that came with purchases to find matching thread to mend it. It was a mess - does anyone have a good way of organizing those?

    1. maybe something like a fishing tackle box that has the little shallow trays?

    2. @Lizzie, that sounds like a great idea. @eeps, mine are in a shoe box and it’s such a mess. Whenever I look in it I’m shocked at how many things I’ve bought from JCrew lol.

    3. I keep a small zip loc baggie for each year. That way, I can narrow down my search to a couple of baggies (years). I only started this a few years ago so the previous grouping is a jumble representing 20 plus years of enthusiastic shopping with lots of buttons for clothes I gave away a long time ago. In all my years of saving the buttons and thread, I've probably needed to go back maybe two or three times. Marie Kondo would probably tell me to toss my collection but I just can't make myself throw them out.

      Delete
    4. What, toss them out? I have my Grandmother's button collection, and I have used it many times to find 'close' or 'good enough' matches. My Mom doesn't do mending, sewing or anything domestic so none from her. I just dump mine in the same (antique!) box with G's.

    5. I love the tray idea for sorting the thread. My assortment of threads and J.Crew buttons are in a sewing box and it's a mess. The number of times I've actually needed said buttons or thread have been few but I can't seem to part with them.

  4. I received an order from the 60+20 sale, which was super fast - unfortunately it was the wrong order number (someone else's sweater) in the bag with with my label. I called CS and they wanted me to wait for a new order until AFTER they received the return and gave me a credit. What? Got that straightened out. Wonder if the person (my size) will keep the nice jacket I ordered or call to complain...

  5. Got most of my Friday sale items today.

Collection silk twill top with fixed bow
    Item AS441, Xs Black
Lightweight silk, needs to be steamed but bow is a mess, partially undone and due to the way it’s tacked down I may need to remove it. Might see if I can exchange for same with a bow that’s not undone. The silk is the same as the silk pleated pants but not lined. Either way, the two together make a smart ensemble one could really wear anywhere.

Silk square scarf in classic leopard print
    Item AS766
Rich colors, love the red trim. I have several leopard scarves but the reddish browns in this are much more flattering on me than the usual tan based.

    Silk-blend shoulder-button sweater in leopard
    Item AR952, small
Sized up and I usually do especially with thin sweaters and this is roomy but the lightweight fabric works fine. The neckline is pretty and not itchy.

Button back shift dress in beauchamp linen J2466, XS
Meh. A shift is never exactly flattering on me but I figure as a coverup over a bathing suit, with a little belt/belt bag to add some shape it’s ok. Could possibly consider hemming to tunic length—which would work over a bathing suit or with shorts too.

Also got the size up in the silk pleated pants. I can button the waist on the smallest button and still have room in the booty or wear them a little lower. I prob didn’t need both sizes but I may also consider cropping one to wear with sandals.

    1. Got the pajamas too and just felt them but didn’t take them out. Husband and I are glamping this weekend and I may consider bringing them, although the waffle pajama pants are another option.

    2. Have fun on the sleep-away!

I didn't think about that silk top until too late. I really like the pants, they fit an hourglass shape well.

    3. @Suz Has, I was just about to write a review of the Collection silk top with fixed bow. I also got the black one. The bow was super squished and I was worried about it but I quickly hand washed the top with The Laundress Delicate wash and am so relieved that it washed well, the colour didn’t dye the white bow and I was able to shape the bow so it looks much better now. If yours isn’t tied properly that might not help. I’m so glad that it washed well by hand. I’ll never let it soak just in case the colour could run.

For anyone else, I used the true fit recommendation on the US site. It said xxs although I was going to order xs I’m glad that I went with xxs. I’m small busted though but it isn’t tight and it’s a good length for tucking.

    4. @jan, I’m thinking about purchasing this blouse and waiting to see what happens overnight with Jcrew and their next promo without CARDLOVE. Perhaps we’ll see 80% off:) VPS is baffled as well. I too use all of The Laundress products they’re wonderful and always receive great promos. Here’s another tip for everyone here. I use these color catcher sheets for all of my laundry and they work really well. It cuts out laundry time not having to separate my cotton items etc. have a great evening!

      Delete
    5. Jan that was smart. I can’t even see how to re-tie the bow. I’LL take a closer look tomorrow and see if I can figure how to tie it.
I usually stick with XS in sleeveless and I tried it sans bra and it was fine. The material works well for tucking and I like the contrast stitching. Hope I can make it work!

    6. @Lynn, I really like the black and white one that I received. The bow will likely be a pain but I like that it is sewed down. I love the Laundress products too!

@SuzHas, if it’s in stock I guess exchanging would be safer. Although you might be better than me at trying to tie those things. :) Your combination with the silk pants sounds so nice for a night out when we eventually get to.

  6. @Shopping Celle, Liz, and others
@ShoppingCelle, Here are the details about the Autumn Tweed Jacket AR428 in the pink multi. It’s a very pretty bold colored jacket which is far prettier than depicted online. There are shades of a very pretty yellow, aqua, and white and soft metallic threading which doesn’t overpower the jacket. The exterior piping trim on the exterior is more of a slightly deeper Neon Orchid from years past. I like it. The interior lining is is more of a bold raspberry pink with a cerulean blue piping along the border. The Jcrew label is different. It is a navy blue with silver glitter trim along the navy border. The exterior trim around the entire label is black. Below the label states in Italian that its manufactured by ...... sr.l. which is the name of the textile company and below this is written, Fabric Made in Italy. There is a chain link to hang the jacket brassy color and an extra button. Now for the fit . I’m glad I sized up one simply for the bust. Everywhere else it’s fine. If you look at model she’s got her hands as if she’s pulling to bring the jacket it closer in. This should also give you an indication how fitted the top is. My neighbor tried mine on for me as we are 5’71/2 tall and 34D long armed and thin. Of course this is meant to wear open but I will wear a thin featherweight cashmere tee under it. The sleeves are bracelet length and looks nice on her. Buttons are as depicted. Not bad but not great, very simply but they can be easily changed. I hope this helps. In a hurry at the moment so sorry for the typos. Any questions please ask later. I will keep this and last of all I do like the placement of the pockets.

    1. @Lynn, thank you for mentioning all of those great details! Mine has shipped but will take about a week or so. I used the true fit recommendation so I’m praying it’s right. I usually buy size 0 or 2 in blazers and it recommended size 0. I’m small chested 34B so hoping it’s not tight in a 0. I’m looking forward to receiving it! The colours sound lovely.

    2. Thanks @Lynn for your always thorough review! The tweed sounds so pretty & old school Jcrew! Very tempting......

    3. @Shopping Celle, you’re quite welcome. I try my best to be objective. It is so pretty but I noticed the price earlier and it’s far higher than what I paid. You’re a very savvy shopper and I appreciate your details as well. Having shopped Jcrew for over 20 years I would like to see the company bring back more of the classics with a twist. Missing many of the embellished items that were so beautiful. I’ve taken extra care with mine and most of them look new. . Disappointed their collaboration with Drake’s is no more. Ratti has such beautiful prints that I wish Jcrew would use for their items too.

    4. @Lynn I just realized I was asking about a different jacket! I was asking about the Lady jacket in Italian tweed Item AQ280 in fuchsia berry. It also comes in a black gold lurex. It is double breasted and appears a little boxy. No reviews! Has anyone tried it?

  8. I see that the gold chunky chain link bracelet AQ953 is back. Mine was stolen about 5 years ago and I never replaced it bc I was afraid the color would turn. I think I'm finally ready to try one again. I've gotten into chunky jewelry during quarantine...not sure how that happened with no place to go!

  9. I visited my local store this morning (Cherry Creek in Denver) and they had the previously mentioned new "goat" shirt out already. I think it's actually a bighorn sheep, lol. But it's pretty! The animal is similar to other critter shirts - it's part of the pattern but this one is on a more vibrant floral background (teal, purple, gold, pink, etc). They had some other new items out as well (lace tops, white leopard shirt, plaid dress, green heart cashmere, etc). Nothing jumped out to me as amazing, but the store manager said they expect more winter/new arrivals next week to time with the web roll out.

  11. @eeps, it states something festive as well. Pre launch items, 80% off, I have no idea. It must be something big though. Have you noticed and done a tally on items through the mail link CARDLOVE doesn’t apply. Still works however if you simply go to jcrew.com separately at the moment. Not available as everyone knows here after midnight through the 25th. I’m going back to sleep now and see what happens in a few hours:) happy shopping as if we all need more items lol.

    1. Agreed. I opened my eyes and basically anything I looked at is more now. However the slippers that canceled from last Friday showed up in my cart and I ordered them. Who knows if they will ship. They were backordered. I’ll ask them to match last week’s price.

  15. This was the fastest and least inspiring shopping experience for me this morning. Agree, previous sales were far better. Purchased one item, the Lighthouse tee for a kid over here for $6.40. Perhaps more items will be added. The big tease email quite frankly is a joke.

  16. Agreed. I have one sweater for my son in my cart which will be $9. I’ll wait to show him when he wakes up this morning.

  18. I managed to stay up til midnight and saw the promo change. I had looked through at 11 p.m. and then again after midnight and the sale section hadn't been updated, so I know I'm not missing anything by staying out of this unimpressive sale. If this is a Black Friday preview, I can sleep in after turkey this year.

  19. I received my collared cashmere sweater and it’s a major disappointment. Looks nothing like the stock photo and is more wide than long, with nearly a dolman sleeve. It is a pet peeve of mine when ribbed waistbands are the same width as the body of the sweater, unless obviously on purpose, as in a tunic. It is also extremely thin and see through, which I would have been okay accepting had the garment shape been as advertised. Sorely disappointed.

I got xs which is my size. I do size up in the crew necks to small. However I would not go to XXS, the arms might of been to tight! It’s very gentle and elegant. I wore it WFH, my mistake was keeping my pajama pants! So it felt like I am wearing pajamas! But it looks nice with pants and jeans! It’s shorter sweater and loose in the body! But I like it!
The lilac one is thicker and non see through at all!
I don’t have anything in this style!!!! Lots of crew necks!! So I will keep one at least!

    3. I actually opened the buttons and layered it over a new liberty shirt I got in the big sale, did a front tuck into the button fly cropped jeans, and made it work! The color is so pretty and hard to find..I decided to keep it! Pbanos, you were right. I couldn’t resist the collar and buttons. Kate, I came around!
