J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

  1. Is anyone else not seeing any new arrivals on the website? I got an email about new arrivals but when I click through it takes me to the same thing... a photo of the announcement of new arrivals but nothing new in the categories. I wonder if they'll be there later or not until tomorrow. Seems like there is a glitch somewhere!

    2. There are a few showing up like quilted tartan jacket, Fair isle sweaters, lots of tartan and steward plaid, goat shirt, and a nice newly jacket.

    3. Omigod, the goat print. It looks like more like bighorn sheep or a ram, but it's called grazing goat. The colors make it look 1980s. I am going to pass on this animal print.

    4. I had that problem yesterday and still am not seeing much today. Someone please share the item number for this goat blouse?

    7. @eeps, I posted elsewhere here but I’m going to pass on the blouse. I don’t care for the white critters. Perhaps if they had been Unicorns I might have considered. No offense to people out west but this piece would be fine west of the Mason Dixon line and probably more fashionable:)

    8. Thank you Miss JR! Such pretty colors...why?!?

    9. @Cheri, why is correct! Nice Bengal tiger or Unicorns :)

  2. Loving the velvet trimmed lady coat and the double breasted ladycoat. Not a need because I have a black coat I love but the higher neckline and fitted waist is what I prefer so I hope to get one of these..

    1. Sweaters I liked are questionable fabric content, I do like some of the joggers/loungewear but that really depends on fit.

      Delete
    2. @Suz, do you like the waffle pants and the top in the green? I like the color as I’m on a green kick at the moment. I’m not sure about the fit either.

      Delete
    3. @lynn, I've been eyeing the charcoal waffle set. It's on my Christmas list. Looks comfy and appears to be 100% cotton - both wins in my book.

    4. I have the waffle pants from last year. They’re super comfy but short. I think I got an S so they’re loose and too short to really wear out.

      Delete
    5. @Zach and Mere@Suz, Thank you both. I think the colors are nice but thinking they would probably shrink. I would not wear these out however.

      Delete
    6. I only wear them inside but sometimes they’re too short to be comfortable because of the banding. I would def prefer them several inches longer. I’ve seen joggers that are stylish enough to wear out to run an errand or something, these would not be that, at least not for me.

    7. I should add, I ended up buying two pairs of the waffle joggers (they were so inexpensive!) and my 18 yo daughter took one of them. She’s only 5’2” so for her they’ll be perfect (although her legs are long for her height she’s curvy and muscular.

    8. Suz, I think those two coats are my two favorite items from the rollout. Made me think about the days when I'd want a handful of the new coat arrivals!

      Delete
    9. @Suz I always check the sweater material and once I see acrylic I generally avoid it.

    10. Sadly this doesn’t seem to be a year to need new “dress” coats considering I didn’t even wear all my wool/fabric coats last winter. However I know I love having them in my wardrobe and will def consider around my birthday.

  3. Alot of ruffles. was hoping for a reissue of the lace pants. they did a high rise paper bag style. but I don't like the front pleats...

  6. I love goats, so I'm into it. I also like the green button down shirt with embroidered dogs! I'm happy with a lot of what I see in this roll out.

    1. LOL! I do like all the green and the particular heather green they've used for a few things.
Also thank goodness they put out the plaid stuff already. Nice and early for actual use, although I don't know how many families are seeing each other for the holidays this year.

    2. I like dogs kids tee with goggles so cute. The green dog blouse is cute too. Mine might get angry with me no Shih-Tzu:)

    3. Love the goats/rams too! Very unusual but the color compliments it.

      Delete
    4. @FalanFolarin, I do hope you will love it. I would have like Unicorns with those colors enjoy yours though!!

    5. I too loved the green dog shirt and the dog with goggles tee. I even looked at the best in show tee for little girls, but told myself--Just. Stop. You are a middle-aged woman. You already have two of the navy terrier shirts from last year. I've heard of Crazy Cat Ladies. Maybe I'm a Crazy Dog Lady.

      Delete
    6. @MaryG, Hi Mary, I’m definitely a Crazy Dog Lady. Couldn’t resist and going to order the dog with goggles tee for him in the smallest size possible and find a way for it to fit him. It’s so him! He wears goggles out in the bright sunlight or when there’s overcast glare to protect his eyes. Protects against cataracts. Definitely a “cool factor” and he will voluntarily wear it in cooler weather. “You’re So Vain” is his favorite song😂 Hope you’re well and staying safe!

    7. Lynn, things are fine in NC, except for lots of chin mask wearers.
I love that you have goggles for your dog. I hate to see them get cataracts. I don't have a dog of my own but I play Aunt Mary to a Havanese, a mutt and any labradoodles (my fantasy dog) that cross my path. I will probably bite on the green shirt and am hoping for some fun holiday tees.

    3. @Kate, yes it can. Call your favorite store. They should accommodate you and you will get CARDLOVE applied.

    4. I got one last week but think it is my birthday gift because the front reads "it's not birthday cake, but...". My birthday is the end of November and I thought wow, they are early.

    5. Hope I get one🤞 I used to receive the $25 gift cards regularly but it’s been awhile. I’ve got lots of things on my wishlist.

    6. Thanks Lynn. Will try. I been looking at 9" vintage straight jean in Rinse wash Item K5391, would be great to apply this coupon!

  8. I received the giraffes shirtdress yesterday. I sized up from my regular JC dress size because I always have shoulder/arm issues with JC shirts. The shoulders/arms just fit in the dress, but the body is ludicrously wide, and the pouffiness at the skirt doesn't help. I look so wide. It is great quality for what I paid. I'll have to find a way to wear it it's somewhat cinched at the waist, otherwise I look like a barrel wearing a skirt.

    1. Hey eeps, I have the same problem with wide shoulders and muscular arms, so I skipped on that dress based on reviews. When I see reviews that say the shoulders/back are too big I know it's meant for me.

      Delete
    2. I sized down in the Giraffe dress. Friend tried it on and it fit perfectly but looking at the width as you pointed out it is a little wide and full in the back. For the $10.00 which I paid it’s worth altering. Those tweed Kiki’s are very very pretty but run very large in me. I sized down 1/2 and put an orthodic in them. They will fit fine with room at the toes and toe box. Cheap $23.00

    1. Hi! Overall, there aren’t too many things I have to have yet I did still order some items. I was happy to see tartan to get me in the holiday spirit. As @eeps mentioned I’m so glad that they didn’t wait so late for the plaid items. I did see a post on IG that said the gift guide would be in a month which seems a bit late with mail carriers being overwhelmed.

I bought lodge moccasins in Stewart plaid, preordered vintage pjs in Stewart plaid (the black plaid though which I don’t see online anymore), drapey pjs in stripe as I know pjs will get use. I ordered the Willa suede booties to try although they aren’t new. I do love the embroidered dog shirt.

    2. Hi Lynn! I purchased the chateau parka in chartreuse. Not the neutral I was looking for but hoping for a bronzed ochre color of jcrew yore. We’ll see if the color lives up to my expectations! I’m thinking about the geometric cashmere turtleneck and the pink plaid button down. But Kate Spade sent me a coupon so gonna pick up a top there and think on the items at the crew.

    3. No purchases - my job's return to the office has been indefinitely delayed due to the (re)surging infection rate here so I don't want/need any new cool-weather officewear yet. Hard to plan.
I like the pops of green and the new pink Stewart tartan, but nothing screaming buy now.
The A-line dress with ruffle collar (AT591) has a Vampire's Wife vibe with the collar, but the thought of buttoning anything that high up and wearing a waisted dress right now is alien to me.
Generally, I am wary of the return of the many ruffles. I'm still scarred by the last round of JC ruffles and prefer to keep far away. I will always prefer a lovely print or texture over ruffles.

    4. @Liz, Hi Liz, have you seen the little girls Degas ballet tees? Absolutely adorable. I would have purchased one for myself if I could squeeze into one😂 Happy you figured something out about your coat. Hope it works well for! Have a nice evening !

    1. @cccurran136, purchased the navy/snow and purchasing a few more in different colors for a few nurses here as gifts. They are working so hard in the hospitals with this COVID running rampant again and would like to show a little gratitude. If it were possible I would try to strike a deal with Jcrew and order several hundred and give them away to those who would benefit from a little warmth and cheer. Enjoy yours, it’s a beautiful color!

    2. Very kind of you Lynn! It’s not a pandemic yet! But cases are slowly creeping up! But nothing compare with this spring! As per DOH, cases doubled last 2 weeks! But we moving along and doing what we can! We are much better prepared this time from treatment to PPE. But so far so good as compare to the spring time! I pray every day we don’t get there! But we have to see what happens!!! Have a great day all!!

    3. @Kate, beg to differ with you. Have no idea as to what part of the world you reside in but it’s defined and continues as a Pandemic. As far as the U.S. the numbers have sky rocketed. I’m not sure if you are a medical professional but I’m thinking they in the U. S. consider this a Pandemic.I just wish that people would continue to wear mask, wash their hands and keep to social distancing. I worry about Jcrew and other retailers employees and hope this doesn’t affect their jobs or everyone’s health for that matter. We have lost friends here older, younger etc. This doesn’t discriminate. Appreciate your post.

    4. It’s totally a pandemic. My little town had to make mask wearing downtown mandatory. The streets are narrow and with outdoor dining and people walking on the sidewalks there were tons of complaints. I haven’t been down there aside from picking up food because I don’t want to deal with crowds.
We go hiking in the adjacent reservation with masks. If we so much as see another human we put the masks on. This is a few miles west of NYC,
UPSTATE/ central NY same thing. We wore masks hiking and walking through town everyone was masked. Even getting coffee in Starbucks, you can’t remove your mask to drink inside. My husband standing far off away from anyone else was asked to put his mask back on and not to take a sip until he got outside.
      It’s totally a pandemic.

    5. We have been in a pandemic since February and we're still in it, and it's actually getting worse. Kate, I know you're also in the NYC area (like me), and the city is an outlier compared to everywhere else around us. Under NY state's quarantine guidelines, every single state around us - NJ, PA, MA, CT - actually qualify for our 14-day quarantine due to rising infection rates. The situation currently is worse than in the spring for everyone around NYC.

  12. Yes agree, apologies for the confusion. I meant not as were we were before!!! With lots to of hospital cases! Which is promising! We are not seeing sky rocketing numbers! Which is good! But who knows what will happen. Yes I walk NYC streets every day! Peopel are all masked!
I do get very upset when folks are not masking... it kills me! But all I meant to say for the hospitalized folks! Numbers are still low.... but concerning as the community numbers are doubling!! Sorry every one !’

  13. Again, hospital numbers in the U.S. are skyrocketing in certain areas. Certain countries with hospitals in Europe are becoming overwhelmed and Russia is turning away sick patients. I haven’t taken off my mask in public for months. Only when I am on my boat. I am going to my place in Florida for a few days to pick up my Jcrew items and getting out and over to St Barth’s for winter where they have strict mandates period that are enforced. I feel so bad for everyone that feel they are unable to go to a store but Jcrew has done this well by offering private appointments to customers even at their factory stores as are a few others. I don’t want to see Jcrew suffer another financial nose dive. I’m liking more of their items and hope they get even better to bring some joy to shoppers. Thank goodness for their bright cheerful colors.

    1. Lynn I completely agree! But being through the worse at the hospital this spring I am hopeful we will not see the same situation! We have better treatments and hopefully can offer better care! Have less critically ill and not see as much mortality! I am not at all downplaying this situation! I don’t even know how to be without a mask! It’s a constant! I have not taken the subway since March and having 2 grown teens I fear the wide community the spread! And I am not ready to fly!!( internal paranoia)! I just hope and pray!

  14. Hi, what do you think about the Parke blazer in pink Stewart tartan? I'm on the fence. Love the bright colors but not sure it's easy to pair.
