J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

  1. New arrivals up on the site. Some pretty prints and I like the sequins (haven't seen one I didn't like):). It's nice to see some pretty things that make me think about spring (pinks, corals, greens, lilacs, yellows). Decided to order sequin stripe drapey blazer and wide leg navy sequin pants. Also ordered linen blend shorts and long sleeve linen shirts in pink and orange since they're on sale & part of 50% off. Carolina K Valley caftan is very cute; love the back. Would love to have this in an African print, so going to see about having it made in Mombasa when we travel for vacation in August (hopeful those plans aren't impacted).

    4. My tees came today, and I am sending them back. 1) Maybe I've gained wait while quarantining, but my regular size of large was way too small. 2) The color just read as brown in person. 3) The sleeve and bottom hems roll, which makes it look like of messy.

  3. I ended up with a lot of new items on my save for later "wishlist." Glad there's finally some sort of wishlist, even if it's not quite the old wishlist format! Still trying to find a good way to use my birthday reward with its final sale/promo limitations.

Looks like it's finally time to buy holiday stuff - a lot of price cuts from yesterday to today in the sale section. The plaid & lace pants are the biggest steals I saw when browsing the sale - around or under $25.

    1. I went with a crystal/floral statement necklace that was reduced today - cheap but fun while it lasts!

  4. I received my re-order of the drapey topstiched pants. They are still too short (of course!) but I like them enough to wear anyway. If I got properly motivated I could probably lower the hems an inch which would help. But tricky with the split at the outer ankle.

Also the leopard fleece which is on sale. I sized up to M based on reviews and that was good advice. It would be impossible to put on otherwise as there is no stretch. I would never have paid FP for this, but at under $17 it allows me to say goodbye to my worn out black fleece with the hole in the sleeve (not even worth donating).
    Can recycled fleece be re-recycled?

Also a cute pair of $20 Vans for my husband in multi-turquoise colors. I snagged these before the guys over at the FMF reddit noticed them. After that they probably sold out in an hour or two! They are great with a bunch of his summer pants and shorts.

    1. The drapey drawstring pants aren’t great on me, I feel like everything is made for straighter people. It’s all loose on the waist and more clingy on the butt. I think this is also exaggerated because I have a long torso and due to the elastic waist.

  5. Everything in my order shipped except the pointy toe cream plaid flats with black bow, which are further reduced in price as of today. The size I ordered is out of stock so I wonder if they’re canceled. I don’t care enough right now to order the half size down which might fit, as I wouldn’t wear them until next November most likely.

Wondering how I will deal with returns as I ordered multiple sizes of pants. I will check the website to see if they’re waiving return fees or giving other options.

    1. I was going to get those flats but the reviews said it was painful in the big toe area?
i'm of course annoyed prices went down but i only rebought one item i ordered last week (but have yet to receive).
The prices were quite good on a few things so I ordered:
      Liberty long sleeve scallop blouse
      lodge mocs in snowy tartain
      dreamy ss cropped pj set
(the flag pj set sold out while i was finagling signing in through ebates, d'oh! really liked that one)
      and the cherries t-shirt.
Also liked the travel set print t-shirt but i have never ever looked good in that khaki background color.

I am totally going over my new year's resolution-mandated JC annual spend amount but telling myself that this is a once in a lifetime crisis and i'm allowed to help the economy.

    2. I have the same flats in the Stewart plaid with back beaded bow and like them a lot. I don’t walk long distances but I’ve worn them to a few events and they were totally fine for me, but I tend to do well with pointy shoes.

  6. My order review:

Long belted puffer coat with PrimaLoft®
Item AF015 Black size small. I like this, though it’s loose over a sweater. I’ll have to try with a few layers and see. Pluses are that it has a two way zipper and generous below the knee length. Negative is that there are only two small pockets. Why not have more? If you wrapped and tied it could almost look trench like. I like that it can be dressed up but wish it had a hood. Deciding between this AND...

Chateau Puffer in black, medium. I have the red already but I think in a smaller size. A great price. Thinking about it BUT I think I’d prefer more length as in the jacket above.

Frankie pant in stretch twill, regular and tall in 0. Black. Both fit snug on the bootie (in a good way says the husband) and loose on the waist, but sizing up would make them too voluminous. They totally have a 70s vibe but I like my Everlane cropped versions better, even at 20 bucks, the fit is off.

    Drapey drawstring pant
Item AJ015 In XXS and XS. Black. Not a great fit For me. Cute though.

Still waiting on the tie neck top in lace and the tweed motorcycle jacket. (And the abovementioned plaid flats). The only think I know I’m keeping is the red waffle pajama joggers.

    1. I’m hoping the stores reopen in a few weeks and I can do my returns in person.

    2. Too bad the drapey pants don't fit. I took a S, but I'm way bigger than you. The waist fits and I fill out the rump. The legs are just loose enough without being baggy.

I think the Chateau puffer would be too big on you in M. I have the S and can wear with a sweater, and I wear a 6 in a jacket. I have a long lighter weight puffer from Mercantile last year and I love the longer length for walking outside and the hood. Well a coat without a hood is a good chance to wear your hats & scarves.

    3. Yeah the drapey pants are ok, but not great. I don’t need not great. I have enough of that!

Chateau puffer is ok in the medium. Doesn’t seem huge but then again I don’t like jackets tight. I still wish it was longer. That’s my issue.
