This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale
items at our
various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If
you are stopping
by a J.Crew store this weekend to see
what's available (if
anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in
person, maybe you might be
willing to share that with us in this
post. In particular, if you could
share with us a few of the
noteworthy items that are available, at
what prices, and potential sizes
the store is carrying (as well
as the store location)- that would be
fantastic!
Also,
please let us know if your local store is
carrying an additional percent
off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)
P.S.
I noticed that many of
you have already been reporting sale
items (and in which stores) in
other posts which by the way "thank
you!" :) I really appreciate how
helpful we are for each other!
I ordered the cable knit mockneck sweater, Ae987 in black and white. It’s not easy to find a chunky knit sweater that’s white and not ivory.
ReplyDeleteThe white is significantly smaller than the black and has a lot of yarn coming off, almost as if it was washed. Otherwise I like the sweater. The mockneck is tight but not itchy which is a huge plus, and even though it’s mockneck I still think it can be worn most of the year because it’s not a heavy tight knit even though it’s chunky.
I ordered that sweater too and agree that the weight is good. I like the mock neck, as I've a short neck and tnecks can be too tall. I like it, but am still not sure about the loose fit in the back. It's almost a swing fit. I need to try again with different pants.
DeleteI also tried the leopard sweatshirt sweater one size up. I think I like it a lot, but mine came with the security tag which is super irritating.
Oddly it wasn’t as swingy on me as cropped sweaters typically are.
DeleteSecurity tag, what a pain!
I had issues with one of their white cotton sweaters shedding a fair amount last year but I agree it's tough to find a white cotton sweater.
DeleteWearing the sweater today, so I guess its a keeper. With black jeans and my Stubbs & Wooton xJcrew bee slides. I found those on clearance once, there was only a size 11 (normally a 10) so I tried them. Good call, they S&W runs a full size small on me as they are narrow.
DeleteSo got my second set (ordered after CARDLOVE) and the white is less linty and bigger. I have to try with a white tee underneath.
Deletei think my sweaters are going back. They just hang too wide. I don’t mind doing a partial tuck but it’s not easy with this fabric.
DeleteGot the new striped skirt in "olive blade" (gold and mint stripes) item AJ993. It is very pretty (but long) - I'm 5 foot 2 and it doesn't come in petites. Also quite fitted. Cotton/poly, not stiff. A bit reminiscent of the golden age of J.Crew (the mid-aughts) Just ordered the tank dress in the same style (marigold peach) but am not sure it will fit - my normal size is sold out. We will see - it is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteSnagged the mint tie neck silk shirt on popback, Item AJ993. Ordered it last fall but the one that came was so wrinkled I couldn't deal with it. This one was much nicer and I'm torn - it's gorgeous and unusual (and perfect with the striped skirt I just got) but the tie neck is awkward - I am going to have to steam it and figure out how to tie it.
I ordered the ruffle collar tippi, which was too tight across the shoulders and arms but loose in the middle. Same with the shawl neck tippi. Sizing up will look sloppy. Oh well. I am just not made for the Tippi sweater.
The ong-sleeve drapey popover top in floral print Item: AK750 was a big nay. Synthetic and sad to say just not stylish.
I can't wear Tippi either. Not made for wide/muscular shoulders and arms.
DeleteI was thinking the same. I only have one, the camo one, and I got a size up for my shoulders, arms and upper back, but my torso is very narrow so it was a tradeoff.
DeleteProbably no visit for me although I begrudgingly need to return the curvy bootcut jeans with patch pockets (AB381) which are fantastic but not long enough for me to wear wtih heels. They are a 10.5" rise which on this pair is very flattering and this is the first pair I've tried with the front pockets that don't make me feel like my stomach is on display. They are a perfect dark wash with no whiskering, just a bit of fading in the right places. Website says they're a 31" inseam which I haven't checked, they're long enough for flats or sneakers but while I like the look on others they just don't look right on me. My regular J.Crew denim size 29 worked in these. I just ordered a 28T since that was all that was available, we'll see if they work. I'm 5'8" and 33-34" inseam is usually best for me for pants that I want to wear heels with. They are pretty stretchy too only 88% cotton the rest poly/elastane.
ReplyDeleteIn other denim news, I tried the AGOLDE Nico high rise jeans and love them. High rise but very flattering, covered button fly and a slim leg (not straight but not super skinny). They are 98% cotton 2% elastane and a size 30 worked for me although I have read some people sized down one. I had tried the 29s in these last year which I forgot about and couldn't get them on. They did stretch a but not enough that I could have tried a smaller size. I'd say if you aren't as curvy you could size down. I am also trying the AGOLDE Toni mid rise straight but I'm trying a 31 as the 30s didn't go over my legs :/ The quest continues.
Thanks for the review on the curvy jeans! I've a few pair of jeans that I wish were longer, so I get problem. We're just enough taller than average to be too tall for regular, and sometimes too short for tall lengths.
DeleteReceived most of my items from the 40% +20%... all returns so far, still one blazer on the way. The car coat in herringbone in just huge. Looks like a maternity coat. I know it supposed to be a "swing" coat but it skews more toward "tent". I ordered a 6, (most of my JC blazers/coats are 6 or 8). I could do a 4 probably but then the sleeves would be waaaaay too short (they were already bracelet length on me). On the plus side material and lining were really nice and loved the raglan sleeve.
ReplyDeleteThe "tall straight leg crop jean in rinse wash" (AB386) were ok but just not flattering on me and still too short for even a crop jean. I did like that they were dark and had no distressing.
Jeans are so frustrating. I just returned "The Summer Jean" to Everlane, was so sad they were WAY too short. The product page did not list an inseam length (???) and I should have emailed to ask but the model om the page it said she was 5'11" (I'm 5'10") and they looked perfectly cropped on her so I took a chance, ha! They were maybe 5" above my ankles and looked beyond silly. There were such a nice denim too and 100% cotton. I LIKE cropped denim but for me cropped is like 30" or 29" inseam and full length is about 32". I don't think every clothing company has to cater to every body type/height but you'd think I'd learn my lesson after multiple Everlane fails. I have a few tops and sweaters from them I like but zero pants.
oh, I just realized the Everlane jeans are sitting here to be mailed out today...I measured the inseam - 26.5". That's short!
DeleteIf you click on Everlanes size chart for each specific pair it usually gives and inseam, rise, and other details, but you have to look and it isn’t always complete.
DeleteI’m only 5’6” and the 26.5 is a decent cropped inseam for me. So I know at 5’10” it will not look right. I’ve been known to let down hems for the extra inch or so with jeans.
