This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale
items at our
various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If
you are stopping
by a J.Crew store this weekend to see
what's available (if
anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in
person, maybe you might be
willing to share that with us in this
post. In particular, if you could
share with us a few of the
noteworthy items that are available, at
what prices, and potential sizes
the store is carrying (as well
as the store location)- that would be
fantastic!
Also,
please let us know if your local store is
carrying an additional percent
off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)
P.S.
I noticed that many of
you have already been reporting sale
items (and in which stores) in
other posts which by the way "thank
you!" :) I really appreciate how
helpful we are for each other!
I felt like a storm prepper this morning, stocking up on black pants instead of toilet paper. Ordered a bunch of things I don’t need, but at fair prices.
ReplyDeleteFrankie pants in twill. I ordered tall and regular. I tried them on last fall and liked them but I have two casual wide leg black Everlane pants that are cropped and prob don’t need full length. But...
Ordered the drapey drawstring pants. Wanted to try them but I didn’t see my size in store yesterday. The elastic waist may be an issue with the fit for me if the rise isn’t high enough.
Tweed motorcycle jacket. I thought could be cute in lieu of a blazer.
Tie neck top in lace, red and black. I don’t love lace but I love the cut of this.
My wintress in black is ripped so trying the long belted puffer in black and I also ended up ordering the chateau puffer in black, which is stupid...I love the red but like the longer length.
I’m sure I’ll have returns since I ordered a few things in multiple sizes but I lost my head for a minute.
:-)
DeleteI sent an ivory polartec fleece to my stepdaughter. Still cool enough where she lives to get some wears in this spring.
The drawstring pants are short in the length, but the waist/rear fit me well - not too bunchy or too tight. I have plenty of rear to fill out the seat.
I saw the length was 26” and just checked that the rise is 11.5” which means they may sit close to my waist and I won’t need to pull them down to my hips. That has potential. I ordered XXS and XS.
DeleteI was tempted by a fleece since I live in one in my house but I don’t love the color combos. I’d buy the red if it didn’t have purple. Now that some of us will be stuck inside (somewhat) it will be more pleasant to elevate our loungewear.
I also bought a bunch of things I don't need, but was happy to see the 50% off without FS (mostly). I got:
ReplyDelete- relaxed jogger pant in cloud fleece: i don't have sweatpants like these and my friend insisted i start wearing these when traveling.
- cableknit mockneck sweater in cotton. got the yellow since it looked so happy. i was deciding between the cotton and cashmere versions, went with cotton because i haven't had luck lately storing cashmere or merino wool - somehow they're getting eaten in my closets packed with cedar and lavendar mothaways. anyone have any good ideas??
- mockneck lace top in blue: i already own this in this color but got an extra up one size. what a fantastic price and this top is amazing. i prefer the blue bc i like the contrast with the different colored bows, which the red and black versions don't have.
- peyton pants in black lace: i have the red lace easy pants and have gotten a surprisingly good amount of use from them.
- sleeveless sheath dress in mini medallion: had my eye on this dress since the rollout. the sheath silhouette in the past has had too high of a neckline for me, but happy to try it.
- shift dress in paisley print: also had my eye on this, it's so mod-60s vibe!
- collection leather legging in burgundy: here's my splurge and big risk. last time i wore pleather pants was when i was 12 from gap kids. leather and me don't play well, i've always ended up selling my moto leather jackets whenever i try. but you guys always look so good in leather pants and the reviews were really good, so giving it a try. still nervous.
i also had the tweed moto jacket in my cart but didn't go through because the nearest size i'd fit was in tall, which will definitely not work on my 5'1 frame. also i had a lot of black blazer/jackets, and the pink one was too bright for me. but it looks cool as a blazer alternative.
i'm so tempted to get a daphne in boiled wool. sooooo tempted. even though i have 3 unworn NWT JC wool coats in my closet. arrrrghhh
Let me know how you like the cotton sweater. I tried and returned it only because on me the back was too wide. But you can see that cut in the model pictures. The cable design is pretty.
DeleteLooking at the lace mockneck, where do you wear it? Is it too dressy for the office?
I've only worn it to the office. I wear it tucked in with A-line skirts, untucked with pencil skirts, with black Camerons and the glen plaid Camerons, which have the exact same shade of blue running through the plaid.
DeleteI find carpet beetles are more of a problem for me than moths. I gave up after having too many sweaters eaten and bought canvas zippered cases. I keep the sweaters stored there all year. There's some controversy about weakening the fibers by storing them this way. Only one of the cases is all canvas and that's from The Laundress. The others are mostly canvas with a plastic see-through window. I haven't seen a single hole since buying these cases about three years ago. I still hand wash or dry clean the sweaters at the green cleaners before storing them over the hot weather. I no longer believe that lavendar or frequent shaking out is enough to keep out bugs from dresser drawers in the winter.
DeleteWhy do the fibers get weakened through storage? Thank you!
DeleteI grabbed the drapey tie pants too @Suz. I also picked up the drapey popover in pink and another pair of the drapey cargo pants. I already own the green in the cargo pants and really love their feel. The packaging wrinkles steamed out easily and they looked cute with a light blue side tie sweater I had from a few years back.
ReplyDeleteI received the v neck tunic in satin backed crepe today. I liked how it was longer (and clearly I’m a fan of draping fabric). It’ll be good for our spring weather.
funny you are bringing the holes up...i never had a problem w cashmere until the last couple of years...and it seems to be far worse with my j crew cashmere. im going to look into the canvas bags. thanks for the tips!
ReplyDeleteI wash or dry clean my cashmere then spray with The Laundress Cashmere Wool spray, store them in their cotton zippered bags. Never a bug problem. I must admit my drawers in my closets as well as the closets themselves are climate and individually humidity controlled. I realize most people don’t have their storage spaces designed this way but because of the high humidity factor in S Florida we specifically went to the expense of having a separate system installed. Years ago without this system and only a/c along with the storage bags I notice there were “climate stains” on silk scarves, and white items. Had to pay a small fortune to have them dry cleaned in a specific manner. The bags are a god send . The drawers were well worth the expense. All of my items look brand new or nearly new. Never ever store in plastic bags of any type!! They attract bugs and climate stains. I learned the hard way a very long time ago.
ReplyDeleteAnyone know if JCrew might be making exceptions or extending the return policy in light of the current health situation?
ReplyDeleteI store my sweaters and seasonal clothes in canvas boxes with cedar and lavender but still getting holes. And it’s only in the JC cashmere and merino wool. My vintage cashmere and wool (circa 1950-60) are fine.
ReplyDeleteI noticed a lot of stuff on sale yesterday are final sale today.

ReplyDeleteEverlane and Anthropologie are temporarily closing their stores due to the pandemic. Will be interesting to see if other retailers follow suit. I don’t have any plans to visit the mall.
ReplyDeleteI went to Anthro yesterday and there was a sign that said reduced store hours (like so many other stores) but the change to close U.O. stores later this month (per USATODAY) is not so much a surprise. Mostly wondering about return deadlines.
DeleteYes also wondering about returns, as I have some for both Anthro and JCrew, but haven't wanted to visit stores lately. It would be nice if they would remove return shipping fee for the next few weeks, especially if they close stores. (though many JC customers don't have stores anyway.)
DeleteI did end up going to the mall today because I needed to make a return to the Microsoft Store. BTW, their stores are closed too, just like Apple, but they were able to take my return. J Crew is still open, but reduced hours. SA said traffic had been steady, but not the typical weekend traffic. Warby Parker and Outdoor Voices also closed. H&M and Nordstrom are also reducing hours.
DeleteDid my small part to help the economy & ordered New Balance Rainbow sneaker (AI256). Able to use educator discount and stores are still offering 2-3 day shipping at no charge.
DeleteI broke down and ordered the cashmere boyfriend turtleneck using rewards I had which made it very reasonable. I sized up to a medium because I find sometimes sweaters are tight on my biceps, and I prefer this a little slouchy. Essentially I’m considering it final sale so I hope I like it. If there’s one thing I wear a lot of it’s black turtlenecks.
ReplyDeleteI don’t go to the mall often but I went THURSDAY and it was very quiet, so I would go to make a return but not linger. If they do close stores I hope they either waive return shipping charges or extend return periods until stores reopen. But this is the least of my concerns at the moment. My stuff hasn’t shipped yet so if I get it in a week I’ll take it one day at a time.
I stopped in briefly to make returns on Friday evening. Our mall (Cherry Hill in NJ) was busy but quieter than usual for a Friday evening. I was in and out pretty quickly.
ReplyDeleteI had ordered several swimsuits to try (same order twice because of the change in sale % off) so it was a lot to return. Kept the navy eyelet one shoulder tank suit. So cute, and more supportive than expected. I ended up ordering the same one in black with the ruffle in one size smaller as well with the 50% off yesterday.
Also in order and returned was the Olive Blade pencil skirt - the stripe is a minty neon, rather than a turquoise as I thought from the pictures. It also looked like it ran small. I didn't bother to try on since I didn't care for the color and wanted to get the returns to the store.
Be safe everyone.

Bought a few things myself ughh.. during their witching hour I bought Hayden kick out pants in plaid ($31), REMI pants in daisy ($28), and silk shirt($20).
I broke down and got the jcrew credit card the next day( took me 10yrs to sign up...lol)...
Bought black cashmere dress ($60), have it grey and love it....also picked up the they grey for my mom for about ($55) and cashmere sweater for her with sequin polka dot ($47).... not bad prices....
I want the cashmere cable knit sweater but they out of XS....
What is JCrew witching hour?
DeleteSaw Everlane closed their stores for the time being. I'm sure J.Crew and other retailers will follow soon.
ReplyDeleteThey make it so hard to use the birthday reward! I know it's a free $25 so I shouldn't complain, but it can only be combined with one promo online (so can't use it with CARDLOVE if I want to use GOSHOP), and it can't be used on merchandise that's excluded from the promo either... In the past when I've called to order they've still let me use it on anything, but they must be stricter about it now, because I was denied!
ReplyDeleteThey did make a note in my account that would let me use it a little past the end of March given the current suggestions of self-quarantine and possibility of stores closing, which I appreciate!!
