  1. Love that they are still offering free shipping. That combined with no final sale has encouraged me to place a couple of orders I otherwise would not have. This morning I decided to give the leather brim baseball cap a try at $11.99 and free shipping. The reviews are good, so I am hoping it will be a winner. I am also trying the hibiscus floral maxi dress, which happened to pop back in my size earlier this morning. The reviews on it are mixed, and I'm not sure if the color and silhouette will actually work for me, but I thought it was also worth a try at $17.99, free shipping, and no final sale.

  2. I know these are terrific promotions, but I can't get excited about them because I dislike most of the merchandise. They've really lost me this year.

    1. Cate, I agree. I tried to use the J Crew AMEX promo and so far can't find items to make the $125. And I have the shopping card for $20 off $100 and a gift card for $80. At least the $20 off is good through 1/4/15

    2. I agree too - mostly. JC lost me this season too for clothing, although I hope not forever. I made an order (see below) but there wasn't a single item of women's clothing - just sneakers, jewelry (we'll see if the quality is there) and kids items.

I'm a little alarmed that Mickey has (in his words) "full confidence" in the women's offerings currently in-store, unlike six months ago. Yowser.

I don't recall getting 40% off, free shipping and no final sale all at once. I sense desperation.

    4. Totally agree - just t shirts and scratchy sweaters!

    5. This has not been my J Crew year either, although for me, summer was better than fall and winter.
I've been to the Oakbrook, Ill., store four times in the past nine days, and I only bought one tee, the long-sleeved one with the metallic copper stripe in the middle. It doesn't look all that great and is likely to go back.
And everything is so huge -- even my normal small or extra small is too big in most sweaters.

    6. I'm sure they haven't lost me forever, but the only thing I really like this season is the flannel shirts. And that's actually okay, I don't need to buy a lot of things, but if I did, I'd be at a loss. I saw an older man at J. Crew recently getting help picking out a sweater for a woman. I felt bad - the chances that the recipient will want a pilling, slit-up-to-the-armpit, drop-shouldered, strangely-patterned sweater are pretty slim. They don't even have a nice cashmere sweater in the store that he could have bought, or even a normal merino sweater. It's all so over-the-top trendy right now. J. Crew is trying too hard to be different.

  3. I'm interested in the Nike suede blazer sneakers, which are now $45 with JINGLE. They were $100 before.

  4. I placed a big order this morning with some things I had been wanting to try before final sale :( starts again. Hopefully I won't like all of it or the wallet is in trouble.

  5. The one dress I ordered dropped $20 so CS was kind enough to give me a price adjustment- always happy with that!

  6. I'm a huge fan of J.Crew shoes -- especially the pumps (at a great sale price of course). There seems to be more new styles added today. I keep popping onto the site because I want the Elsie pump in red suede, but they seem to be long gone :(

Really bummed to see less and less shoes in store. Even my CS basically got rid of their shoe section. What's going on?

    1. I ended up placing a couple of orders. Couldn't resist the extra 40% off, which will probably be the same after Christmas. I bought some outerwear that I've had my eye on -- the patch pocket cocoon coat in dark camel, the shiny black puffer coat, and the shiny black puffer vest. If they don't work out, at least I can return them. The puffer coats intrigued me because they're machine washable.

  7. I will probably place an order - so far have the silk blouse in cinnabar, the grey oversized stripe turtleneck (already have the ivory and black - love it) and the resin rinse toothpicks. I should probably hit submit and not give it another thought...

    1. Hey Anne! Did you take your normal size in the oversized turtleneck? Thanks!!!!

    2. Rynetta, I sized down to a medium and still have room but I think a large would have been fine as well. Pretty sure I saw that a few ladies stuck to their regular size and were ok with the fit. hth!

    3. I got it in black/white a while ago and sized down. Fits fine and I love the weight of the knit fabric.

    4. Anne and Vava: thank you both SO much!!!!

    5. Even though I hate dropped shoulders, on this turtleneck it works and doesn't look terrible on me. I don't know how they did it! I'd like to see that weight fabric continued in some more of their knit tops.

    1. You should be able to since it's within the 7 day period.

    2. I just called for the PA - she gave me a hard time about it, saying that only "winter styles" are 40% off today and that on her screen everything else is 30% off. Yeesh - it must be hard for the call center folks to keep track of the promotions but she could have been a little nicer. She eventually gave me the PA, but definitely had attitude.

    3. Greetings Cousy - I called CS for price adjustments as well, mostly for sale merchandise. I had to have the representative put them in the cart, apply the code, then checkout to realize that the 40% off applied to all winter sale styles. Then we were fine. It's an education . . . Jennifer

    4. I have pretty much given up calling them to ask for anything really. I now send a nice email with my order numbers and requests and so far they been very prompt and helpful!

  9. Nothing for me so far on this one.

I reviewed the stripe foil tee, which nets $30 w/JINGLE.

  10. Despite my cranky PA call this morning, I made another order. The Nike Internationalists are a good buy at $36, so I bought a pair each for my daughters. Got the radiant necklace ($24) and the folded metal earrings for me ($33). The silver notecards ($7.79) are decent stocking stuffers. Then the girls tweed skirt and the girls military tunic.

Free ship and the ability to return - works for me. (See? I really am a loyal customer...)

    3. Gigi - The folded metal jewelry creeps me out because the design reminds me of eyes. Which I expect to start winking at me every time I look at those pieces. _Especially_ the earrings. Is it just me??? Jennifer

    4. JenniferD - you're right - they do kind of look like eyes! I'll see if these earrings creep me out when they get delivered. :)

    5. I've been tempted to get the folded metal bracelet. I think it's interesting, doesn't remind me of 'eyes', but I haven't seen it IRL.

  11. I ordered last night before this new promo. Emailed CS to reflect the 40% on the Collection shiny puffer jacket in dark cranberry. I love how the jacket is styled online with the baby blue turtleneck and the grey drapey wool sweatpant, which I already own. I will pair it with the Petite Tilly sweater in heather shoreline (also ordered last night with the 40% sweater promo) instead of the turtleneck.

I am loving how all three colors are combined. I'll have to see how it will look on me. At least it's not FS.

I am a little concerned about the wet dog smell, as one reviewer posted online. If I like it enough, cleaning wont be a problem.

    1. I ordered the cranberry puffer jacket also hoping to re-create one of the runway looks with the Dutch floral pants The pants have gotten such horrible reviews that they probably won't work but I wanted to try them anyway.

    2. Hi Shopping Celle - I'm not expecting the jacket to work out since its not offered in petite, and it says, 'oversize fit', I'll see how the xxs fits me.

Since its a collection piece, I'm betting its nicely made.

  12. I'm not feeling any of the women's sweaters, but I'm interested in the men's slim rustic merino elbow-patch sweater for myself. (I'm a professor, so I have an ironic thing for elbow patches.) Have any of you ladies tried a JC men's sweater? How did it fit? Thanks!

    1. I've tried on my fiance's sweaters before. I usually wear XXS at J.Crew, and he wears men's regular XS. The mens' slim sweaters are too slim for him and slouchy-slim on me, which I'm fine with. If you want a fitted look, stick with your regular women's size. If you want slouchy, size up. The main issue for me is that the mens' sweaters fit better on people who are 5' 7" and up. The sleeves and torso were too long for me at 5' 4". Also the sleeves were too wide, which I guess makes sense.

  13. Couldn't resist the pinstripe side slit sweater earlier this week with 40% off and the pinstripe pant in japanese wool which went on sale today finally, have been eyeing them for months, not evrything goes on sale two weeks after the roll-out.
    Yes, I'm a pinstripe lover;-))

    1. I've been waiting for the pinstripe pants to go on sale too! I thought it would never happen.
That's the only thing I decided to get from this sale.

  17. I lost interest in the Fall/Winter merchandise but there are currently some great deals on summer stuff with no fs and free shipping to boot. I just ordered the Pintuck sundress in garment-dyed ($17.99 with promo) and the pocket tank dress ($23.99). Stalking the Pintuck cami now which is sold out but under $10...

  18. OT - Did anyone receive an email for a 10% offer to stack on top of the extra 40% sale or 30% regular price? This is amazing! Which means I'll end up spending 50% on sale merch or 40% on regular priced merch. Offer is good for 48 hours.
