This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale
items at our
various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If
you are stopping
by a J.Crew store this weekend to see
what's available (if
anything!) in the SPRING sale, or to see some new SPRING
arrivals {sigh!} in
person, maybe you might be
willing to share that with us in this
post. In particular, if you could
share with us a few of the
noteworthy items that are available, at
what prices, and potential sizes
the store is carrying (as well
as the store location)- that would be
fantastic!
Also,
please let us know if your local store is
carrying an additional percent
off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)
P.S.
I noticed that many of
you have already been reporting sale
items (and in which stores) in
other posts which by the way "thank
you!" :) I really appreciate how
helpful we are for each other!
Planning on visiting to see some new arrivals.
ReplyDeleteSome factory reviews here.
I have a plan to visit the Factory for the 50% off storewide. It says you need to use the email, so be sure to print it or have your cell phone handy.
ReplyDeleteReview of the stripe ripstop skirt (retail)
...and a glitter sandal sMacKdOwN
DeleteOoh, good reminder, Gigi. May have to "drag" the BF to the outlets ...
DeleteMy Factory outlet is having the 50% off storewide - no coupon needed. If in doubt, call them.
DeleteProbably not, unless I have a return. I try to go during the week if I can because it's less crowded.
ReplyDeleteSpotted at Fifth Avenue (NYC) yesterday two schoolboy blazers in June Meadow (a 00 and, I think a 8 or 10). They had the Martina wedges in apricot mist in all the sizes if anyone is looking for those.
ReplyDeleteEma, do you remember how much the blazer was?
DeleteThey weren't marked down on the tag so I am not sure what's the last price.
DeleteMy store had them for $99.99 - 25% off, FYI
DeleteOoooooooooooh, great price! Thank you!
DeleteI'm popping in today I think, and will be stopping at the Factory store this weekend. Will try to get some reviews done there, as there are new arrivals that look promising.
ReplyDeleteI just posted a review of the Punk Flower Swoop Dress today.
I'll be in NYC Saturday and Sunday, so I definitely intend to pop into at least one J Crew store!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely not since I already done enough damage. I got the swoop topin punk floral and I have an order for shoes and pants coming today. The top is great, I reviewed it HERE.
ReplyDeleteI love this top, but I don't like the cut-out. I think it's limiting in the usefulness of the top. Looks great on you!
DeleteIkwym but you may look at it this way: while it reduces your ability to wear it to some conservative events it increases possibilities for wearing it somewhere where you want a little spice or surprise and it saves it from being too granny approved which is always a danger with big florals. This might be because I am too close to granny age and I cannot count on my own youthfulness to offset it anymore :)
DeleteI agree!
DeleteYou'd have to have a very conservative lifestyle to find that top risqué! Unless I'm missing something? The back is lovely....
Delete@ajc, I hear ya on the grandma thing, lol! Being in my 40's, it doesn't feel as far away as I'd like it to be!!
Delete@ ruth, It's not so much it being risque, but I find it makes it more "dressy" imo. I don't work much, but I think the opening would make it not the best option for a work setting. Plus, I frequently get cold in the summer when I'm in restaurants, stores, etc... and I think that opening in the back will make me feel colder. Personally, I don't think the opening adds much of anything, but does take away. I have longer hair, so probably most of the opening would be covered anyway. But in general, I'm not a "cut-out opening on clothing" fan anyway. I know a lot of people here think it's a fun detail. Just not my taste.
@Jruby 18 - I agree with you. Loved the fabric, print, definitely work appropriate from the front...and then saw the cut out.
DeleteHonestly felt like JCrew meshed two different ideas together on this shirt in an effort to play on the "Punk Floral" theme - wait, just thought about it...it's like business in the front, party in the back!
Anyway, it would be fine for ladies-who-lunch functions, but does limit its uses for daily life. I don't always want to wear a blazer/cardigan if I wear this to work and my workplace is definitely not cut-out friendly.
Side note, agree with people who've reviewed this; shirt is cut large so size down unless you are large chested.
Muncher, lol! It's the J. Crew Mullet Top!
DeleteOMG, Mullet Top!! Perfect! LOL!
DeleteHas anyone tried the linen eyelet top? My store doesn't have it...but it looks so cute online. TIA!!
ReplyDeleteI tried it on yesterday and it's really cute! But I'm definitely waiting this one out for sale. I remember last year's version got marked way down and there were plenty left at the lower price. The fit is a little strange, but I can live with it. I tried a 6 and it was loose in the body but perfect under the arms/across the chest. The 4 looked perfect through the body, but was *a little* tight under the arms. Not horribly so, but still. I'd say if you're larger chested (I'm not, lol!), it might not work for you.
DeleteThanks!! I'm not larger chested so I should be ok!
DeleteI tried it on and found it a little too much like a little girl's top, like a cropped pinafore. I think it might be too young for me. But the quality is good - the linen is nice and smooth and it would be a dream to wear in hot weather. I also found that it ran true to size (i.e. don't size down) and because of the seam that runs across the top of the bust, it is slightly snug through the chest area.
DeleteI tried it too and agree with Louise, the seam cut through my chest and it was a bit uncomfortable (for reference I am a 34 C) but it was def. TTS so it really depends on your bra size.
DeleteI tried it on in size 8 and could have worn it but the horizontal seam cut across the chest a bit, like others said. It was more how it felt than how it looked. I may try it in a size 10, which I prefer anyway for the shoulders, and maybe then the seam problem would be resolved.
DeleteI'll definitely be hitting up factory.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone tried the factory Chelsea chino? Looks like they are online only, which blows. I am wondering if they are possibly a reincarnation of the classic cafe capri! The description sounds like it, but then they look a little tapered in the photo.
Yeah, I might check out the Factory store too. I've been really impressed with them lately.
ReplyDeleteHi! Can someone please post the factory email coupon? Thank you!
ReplyDeleteUnknown - I don't think you need it. When I walked in to Pleasant Prairie today a SA handed me a "coupon" that said 50% off everything, and there was signage all over the place saying the same thing.
DeleteUnknown - You definitely don't need the factory coupon for 50% off. They will scan one for you at the register if you're not given one when you walk in. Promo can't be combined w/other coupons, i.e. the outlet coupon.
DeleteOk, thanks so much!
DeleteHas anyone seen any of the Vega sandals? They were online briefly, then disappeared altogether. I saw the silver pop up on sale briefly this week but they didn't have my size. I haven't seen them on anyone yet - are they really that popular that I missed the boat already?
ReplyDeleteOT--here is the article I mentioned a few days ago...they now have it online. Enjoy!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.harpersbazaar.com/fashion/fashion-articles/24-hours-with-jenna-lyons-0513#slide-1
Very interesting! Apart from all the luxuries, she sounds really down to earth!
DeleteWas just there for some returns. Budget is really tight right now. Did do a few reviews of the things I liked:
ReplyDelete-Embroidered eyelet tank (38396)
-Boucle jacket in colorblock (01041)
-Daisy Lace Mini (22246)
still waiting for those darby loafers to ship. hopefully they get them here before I move!!
For the hawaian print lovers, the Fifth Avenue store has received shorts in that print (not online yet, I think). They are linen and totally adorable. They felt longer on than the 3" ones but not as long as 5" so maybe they are 4"? Very, very cute. They are $69.50, $52.50 with the promo. Also they had swimwear (only store in the city with Prince, I was told).
ReplyDeleteThose sound really cute. I have not seen them in the stores or online yet.
DeleteDid the Lace-Stripe dress disappear from the web site? I ordered it to try on and it is really beautiful (polyester lining, though). Unfortunately, it is short. If I were 20 years younger, I'd wear it as is, and it actually looks great, but I wouldn't leave the house in it lol. I'm debating trying the Daisy Lace Mini skirt. I wonder if they are the same material/s? I'd seriously like to combine the two to make a wearable garment! (J. crew could you just make your skirts and dresses longer please!). I may have to return the dress but I will hate to do it.
ReplyDeleteI don't remember seeing these reviewed anywhere, but I just received the Maribeth Espadrilles (in Flax). They fit great in my usual size 8 and are a go-with-anything kind of shoe. Haven't worn them out yet but they seem really comfortable.
Mini and dress are the same material.
DeleteThanks Ema!
DeleteI went to my local store and got the Lodden Paisley Peasant Top for $39.99 - 25% discount and the June's Meadow Floral Perfect Shirt for $69.99 - 25%. I know there isn't much love for the peasant top but I really liked it, it hides a lot of midsection flaws and will be very comfortable for summers in Georgia when the heat is unbearable. I looked at the Punk Floral print stuff, I really like the dress, just debating on where I could really wear it.
ReplyDeleteThe Punk Floral items were virtually sold out in my store this afternoon - they literally had two dresses left.
ReplyDeleteIt really is a fresh, lovely, wearable print. I don't think it reads "grandma" at all.
Has anyone made a direct comparison between the retail and factory Chambray Schoolboys? Tried/reviewed both?
ReplyDeleteI wasn't completely sold on the color and quality of the factory version, and I'm wondering if this is a case of paying a little more for the real thing.
I can't remember details but I remember trying both and preferring (and keeping) the retail Chambray Schoolboy. It's the only Schoolboy I have and I really love it.
DeleteI was wondering if anyone has tried the tortoise flower necklace? Thinking about picking it up before the promo ends! TIA!
ReplyDeleteI bought the necklace and bracelet today in the store. I love them both and think they are going to work with so many things. Let me know if you have a specific question about it. For what its worth my store only had one bracelet left and said both the necklace and bracelet have been very popular. I did also receive the silk-wool punk floral skirt in the mail today and love it. I tried both the 2 and 4 and the 2 (my normal jcrew pencil skirt size)worked best. I love it. The colors are vibrant and the quality of the material is beautiful. I did see the punk floral short sleeve blouse and dress in the store today and personally know I wont get much wear out of either one. I did end up ordering the collection punk floral blouse today and look forward trying it out with the skirt but think I could also wear it with many other bottoms.
DeleteKms423, may I ask what your height is? I'm 5'1" and tried the punk floral skirt in 00 today and it was very voluminous on me. I'm wondering if its not meant for a petite frame. Also, the material in the front center was sticking out at an angle. I do love the pattern and material.
DeleteThanks for the review KMS, I'm thinking I'm going to get it!
DeleteHi Liza,
DeleteI'm 5'1" too! I agree that it does have volume to it and I think it is because it is shorter than for example the collection flame floral skirt is. I actually thought it was a good length for me. If I were much taller I would have thought it too short. Because it does have some fullness I am going to try fitted tops with it.. a chambray maybe and I'm hoping for the matching button down blouse to work. I haven't tried a tippi yet but I will. I am a size 2 in this so I have a larger waist than you. I wonder if your volume issue might have more to do with your smaller waist vs your height?? I hope that info helps.
Liza will you let me know if you end up returning the 00? It's sold out online and I kind of want it...
Deleteseweisb at gmail dot com
Thanks!
Thanks for the suggestions kms. I'll try a few different things before giving up. Susan, I'll let you know if I decide to return.
DeleteI tried it too and found it very voluminous/pouffy too (I am 5'2"). I agree they should have made a midi or at least knee-length in this one to balance out the volume. My regular 0 was the right size, I wouldn't have sized up in this one. On the other side it is very swirly/fun and tbe fabric is very substantial so I wouldn't say it is a total pass.
DeleteSusan, you can try to call the store on Madison at 65th, if you are looking for one.
Went to Park Meadows, CO store. They had quite a number of shirts, dresses, scarves in the Punk Floral print. I agree the print is beautiful but the dress looks tricky to wear but I did not try it on and I am short (5'1"). The sale section is huge, anyone looking for butterfly shorts, $39.99, 1 Butterfly Shirt size 10, $99.99, June's Meadow shirts, $69.99, Blazers $99.99, Glitter ballet flats- many sizes, $49.99 prices prior to 25%/30% off.
ReplyDeleteI was considering heading to Factory in Castle Rock tomorrow but may have to drive the extra 10 miles to Park Meadows...thanks for the info!!
DeleteJust saw the punk floral dress and top in my store. I may be in the minority here but I thought the print looked too computerized. The green is lovely and the fabric is nice.
ReplyDeleteStopped by the factory store on my way home from work; reviews and pics of what I tried on here.
ReplyDeleteThis includes exploding eyelet skirt in red, skimmer pants in chambray polka dot, linen boy blazer, 7" chino shorts.
Deletedoes anyone know if their raybans and/or other third party merchandise tend to go on sale? i am debating whether or not if i should pick up some sunglasses and one of those cambridge satchels now while there's the 25% off sale...or wait for further price reductions...
ReplyDeleteI think Raybans are excluded from sales, but do a mock checkout to see if the discount comes off. Not sure about other third party. Baggu got the percent off, but I think most third party things do not.
DeleteIs there a difference in factory matchstick jeans and the retail version ? THANKS. Carolyn from Vancouver
ReplyDeleteNot much of a difference in my opinion. I would say price, obviously, but when J Crew puts items on the sale rack, you can catch just as good (and sometimes even a better) of a deal. I have pairs of both matchstick jeans and I am happy with both.
DeleteI'll be going by my local retail store and the factory. I gave up J. Crew for lent and have been slow getting back up to speed since then!
ReplyDeleteReview of the factory anchor printed Sanur dress.
ReplyDeleteDon't know if anyone has posted this or not, but I noticed this morning that JC posted the following 25% off plus free shipping with code SPRINGBESTFB on Facebook this morning.
ReplyDeleteSweet! Thanks.
DeleteIs SPRINGBESTFB fb code supposed to have free shipping no minimum? Tried mockheck on order under $100 and on a order with a net subtotal between $100 and $175 and no free shipping. Anyone...?
DeleteGigiofca, I was thinking about placing an order this am asked about free shipping with chat they said only on full price items, unless over $175. I tried the code SPRINGBESTFB and it still charged shipping and took off only 25%, I can get 30% with my card, so no order for me today.
DeleteJRSConifer - Thanks for the info! I was going to chat to ask, but didn't think they'd know lol
DeleteThe free shipping works as long as there is one full-price item in your cart. The rest can be sale! Maybe add a ride-along?
DeleteI haven't seen the Chambry Sundress (item 38936) online in a little while (maybe I missed it), but it came back today in the sales section with most sizes. I really liked this dress and I was glad I was able to get it at a b&m store a couple of weeks ago. Now it is on sale! :)
ReplyDeleteJudy - I never did see the chambray shirtdress online. I reviewed it in this post. Thanks for sharing the sale :)
DeleteHey GiGi - Thanks for the link! I remember seeing this online a long time ago when it first came out, and then "poof" it was gone. $118 was a bit steep, but I was able to get it for 20% because my mom opened a J. Crew card. I agree that it is a bit short, but I am only 5'1. I can get away with wearing it with a belt, and it looked really nice with a tan belt and matching boots, plus grey tights. :o) At $79.00 plus additional 25%/30% off, it becomes a good catch!
DeleteForewarning on the butterfly merino tippi: order two if you're buying online. The butterflies are woven into and not printed on the fabric, however I saw a few that were poorly done. The yarn around the edges of the butterflies were stretched out and clearly visible, making the shirt look like a beginner knitter worked on it.
ReplyDeleteI was hoping for some opinions on some skirts. I realized I went a little too skirt crazy and bought 4--I don't wear skirts very much. I'm only going to keep 2! Which should I keep?
ReplyDeleteMultistripe Skirt
Scattered Dot Skirt
Glimmer Tweed Mini
Daisy Lace Skirt in White
Thanks for the help!
AD MD - Based on my personal lifestyle, I'd pick the multistripe & scattered dot. I'd be worried about mussing up the other two and probably wouldn't wear them as much. I don't wear skirts a lot either, so thinking about ease of wear & ease of styling are key factors for me. HTH
DeleteThanks gigi! I think that's what I'm leaning toward especially because the scattered dot was on sale!
DeleteCalling JCA WWFIFY. I am looking for a pair of Lillian wedges in calf hair in a 6H. If you see them in a store or are returning them, please post here or send me an email at crazyaboutjcrew@gmail.com. TIA!
ReplyDeleteI bought way too much today...my store added a huge amount to the sale section..and I couldn't pass up some of the newer stuff.
ReplyDeleteI asked the SA about the catalogs and why I seemed to stop getting them. I'm not sure how accurate this is...but she said you have to spend $300 online (in store doesn't count)...and then will get a catalog the next month. If you spent $300 in Jan, you would get the next catalog...but if you didn't spend it in March...you would miss out on the next one. This actually seems to be inline with how I receive them based on spending.
Sometimes my husband buys things for me...and then he ends up getting the next one and I don't. Seems very strange that they are that calculating about how much you spend and "rewarding" you with a catalog.
I picked up one in the store...seems much easier.
That can't be right (not saying you're wrong, reaganflowers; it just doesn't make sense). I'll go months without spending anything there, and the months I do spend are usually under $300. I regularly get catalogs. Weird explanation.
DeleteI just got back from the outlets and OMG it was crazy! I hadn't been in over a year so I figured I would go check the 50% off sale out. I got there right after they opened and their were already 2 dozen people in line to check out and almost that many people waiting for dressing rooms! And when I walked by when I was leaving their was a line just to get into the store! I don't know if it's because I am older now or that I have a toddler but I just don't have the patience for that kind of shopping. I didn't want or need anything that badly!
ReplyDeleteHas anyone tried on the Darby Bead-Stitch loafers? What are they like in person? I think these look cute, am I delusional? lol
ReplyDeleteHi, Cate,
DeleteI don't think you're delusional. I was skeptical before I tried them on, but on the foot, they were just so cute. Classic but with enough of a twist to make them a little out of the ordinary. The stitching looked of high quality and the color scheme is great. They fit my regular shoe size (71/2), but they were really tight at first. But after walking in them for a couple minutes, they started to give. Hope this helps! If you'd like pics, let me know!
Hi hes, thanks so much for posting! I think I'm going to order them to try out. I love the color scheme too and I'm glad it's well done, I think that was my big concern. My suede Darby loafers fit me perfectly in size 8, but I wonder if these are sized slightly smaller. Thanks!!
Deletetotally surprised by the Box-Pleated Crepe Skirt (41460). loved the cut and the overall fit. Also reviewed the Collection Tuxedo Pencil Skirt (86445).
ReplyDeleteboth reviews are Right HERE :)
Thanks for reviewing the crepe skirt...I have been on the fence about that one and wondering what it looked like IRL!!
Deleteglad it helped! i shouldn't be (must keep a tight budget!!), but i'm waiting for it to popback in other colors :/
DeleteI just reviewed my new things:
ReplyDeletehttp://handbagaficionado.blogspot.com/2013/04/jcrew-spring-2013-purchases.html
This is a great sale!
OT - i have two $10 off madewell coupons valid only till 4/28 (Sunday). Unfortunately I think you can only apply one code at a time, so it will not stack with anything else besides free shipping over $100. Pls post if you have used it.

DeleteReview of the Crewlet seaside linen-cotton pants and cotton stripe popover in this post.
ReplyDeleteJust posted a bunch of Factory reviews from my stop there on Friday: Embroidered Sundress, Cora Dress, Maxi Dress in navy and chevron, Maxi skirt, and oxford Short. Here they are!
ReplyDeleteI saw some linen pullover crewneck sweaters in the store last time I was in that I don't see online. I am not sure if it is a Tippi, though. The sleeves are shorter like a Tippi but the body seemed looser than a Tippi.
ReplyDeleteOT-I have a Madewell code for $10 off an order. It expires today, Sunday 4/28.
ReplyDeleteMSPHD9ANS
Give a shout out if you use it.
used it! thanks for posting!
DeleteMaybe someone already mentioned this, but the liberty tresco floral toothpicks just went on sale for $89.99. This is a great print, and I got the shirt early on at FP less the 20% promotion, and love it. I didn't want to get the pants for more than $100 b/c it's LOUD and I didn't think I'd get too many wears out of it, so I'm glad I waited. Limited sizes online now, but still lots in my local B&Ms.
ReplyDeleteAs for fit, IMO, these run small. I feel like the toothpicks ran small this season overall and I sized up.
Also, is anyone else having trouble adding items to their bag online? As of yesterday, I can't add ANYTHING. (Or maybe my husband did something to my JC account!)
I had ordered the Tresco floral toothpicks 1.5 days before they marked it down to $89.99 - CS did a PA. I originally ordered ac28 bc online showed 27 as sold out but CS said they had 27 available in their system...it shipped, so I'll be calling CS to double check on size availability from now on.
DeleteMaybe everyone already figured this out, but if you order from the Mother's Day shop, you get free shipping, no minimum (and can apply the springbest/cardstyle codes). There are a lot of items featured, and when I realized I could get free shipping, I caved last night.
ReplyDeleteI did not know this. Thanks for the heads up. I only wanted a t-shirt but didn't want to pay shipping and it happened to be on the mother's day shop. Yay!
DeletePrinted Cora dress review. It's last year's garden floral print on the Lucille silhouette.
ReplyDeleteI ordered WAY too much during this promo. Here's what I'm keeping:
ReplyDeletePurple poppy t-shirt: Boxy fit and a little baggy in my usual XS, but looks cute tucked into a skirt.
Tippi sweater in heather turquoise: Great color for spring. Fits TTS and the sleeves seem to have a tiny bit more room than the other solid Tippis, which I love.
Tippi in stripe monarch (citrus sky ivory): Feels bigger than the other Tippis but not enough to size down. REALLY soft and comfy. Love it.
Tippi in graphic floral: Sizing seems the same as the butterfly one. This is probably my favorite purchase. Just wish I'd had it a couple of months ago when the weather was cooler!
Ponte Swing Dress in Black: I bought this in papaya when it first came out but returned it. The 2 fit perfectly everywhere but the shoulders/chest and the 4 was too big everywhere else. I re-ordered in black and the 2 fits much better in the shoulders.
Lightweight washed chambray dress: SO soft and comfy. The shoulders are a little tight in the XS, but the Small was too big overall. I kept the XS and am surprised by how much I love it.
Linen City Mini (flax and navy): Love these skirts. Got the same size I get in the wool city minis. The length is perfect and machine washable is always good.
My last order (for a LONG time) is on its way and includes the Scalloped Shorts, Double Crepe Skirt, Peplum top, Schoolboy Blazer in Chambray, and Drawstring Tunic. I kind of hope some of that stuff doesn't work...
Does anyone have pics of the punk floral skirt irl? I am wondering how it looks on. Thanks for any help! You can email me if you would like at sandarellasandy@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteThanks!
I justed posted pics (sorry can't link.from my phone, go to my Blogger profile and click on the link to my blog, it's the last post)
DeleteI desperately wanted the Contessa Snakeskin Bow pumps in mint with the lavender bow, and they have been sold out for weeks! I keep checking back to see if my size will magically be returned, but with no luck. Any thoughts?

DeleteHad to pick up a few things with this wonderful promo - thanks so much to all of the fabulous JCA's who help those of us who do not live near a B&M by writing reviews and posting IRL pics! I'm getting the tortoise flower necklace and the monarch tippi based on recommendations here and a couple of basics.
