This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent" posts), where we can share our finds from other retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew (like Anthropologie, LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann Taylor, and the like.)
If you have recently encountered items that are similar to J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.
Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including experiences with certain merchandise pieces, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.
I have two posts with Banana Republic reviews and how they compare to J.Crew on my blog HERE
ReplyDeleteSome J.Crew-like items in this post.
ReplyDeleteDid anybody else get the email that Talbots is now offering their 'Outlet Collection' (designs made exclusively for their outlet stores) online?
ReplyDeleteI took a look and I recognize some styles from previous seasions. Prices are marked 30% off until Sunday, and with the discount the deals aren't too bad. Returns can only be made by mail or to an outlet store though.
I'm not sure how I feel about it. I've been to Talbots outlets in person before, and I never really saw much of a difference in quality (or price for that matter). I know I've been really happy with J Crew Factory online, so if Talbots starts offering reissues of popular styles from previous seasons maybe it will be a good thing.
Printed shorts at the Gap - has anyone tried these in store?

I tried on the blue ikat striped ones and sadly, they aren't cut as well as JC's chino shorts and made my behind look flat as a pancake.
AJC, good post on BR. I have also been finding a lot of good basics there. I picked up, ballet flats, cotton crew neck sweaters, and cropped pants with the 40/50% off promos over the last few days. A lot of their stuff I still pass on due to cheaper fabric content, but I think they are slowly bringing back nicer fabrics (silk rather than poly) due to customer complaints. I agree that many of their items have been boring, but they are starting to put out some nicer prints--they just put out 2 new floral print pencil skirts reminiscent of JC (and much better prices).
ReplyDeleteSame thing with Gap, they are starting to put out some cute printed shorts and dresses.
Oh and might I add that, even at lower price points than JC, Banana Republic trouser pants are FULLY LINED. :)
ReplyDeleteAgreed! I bought 2 pairs of very nice, lined wool pants at BR just this past winter. Far cheaper than my JC ones (even on sale), and much comfier. They were the first things I'd bought from BR in quite a while and I'm back to actually checking out their site/stores now.
DeleteI always love to browse Anthro and have found some amazing deals on their sale items in my store. I went in to my store the other day and got such cute stuff!! I spent entirely too much, but really love what I got and think it will get a ton of wear.
ReplyDeleteThe Gap has always been my go to place for pants and jeans; they fit me well and the prices are good. Lately, they've had some super cute dresses for summer. I ordered a couple this morning :-)
ReplyDeleteI agree... can't beat their prices. I recently got the Mac Jacket I blogged about last year for $39.99. The red/beige/blue ones from the newer arrivals are on sale for $59.99. I have also found a lot of very nice sweaters there lately, and their tights are always a good buy.
DeleteBanana Republic has a schoolboy type jacket that was selling out like crazy this past weekend with the 50% off promo. I assumed it was online and I'd just missed it. I was wrong, it's not there and I regret not taking a photo. I think the price point was around $150 and the color was a pretty, bright pink. Perhaps it was a test item, it was the only one of its kind. Didn't come in black, navy or any other colors.
ReplyDeleteOT, but what is the deal with the lands end canvas site? I swear all I am able to access are new arrivals and sale merch. Whatever category I click on 'sweaters', 'tops' etc. it just sends me to new arrivals. So weird!! Anyone else having this problem?? The site used to work fine for me.
