"Looking to LOVE" with J.Crew

Preface: A big "thanks!" to Ibi who suggested weekly 'Looking to LOVE' and 'Looking to HATE' posts where we could all "deposit" our best & worst current experiences. I think it is a brilliant idea and will try it out for a few weeks. Hopefully this will help out our fellow JCAs! :)

This is the weekly "Looking to LOVE with J.Crew" post, a place to share our favorite experiences with J.Crew.

If you have recently experienced a positive situation with J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including stellar experiences with purchases & orders, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. I have been waiting for this week's post so I could write a big thank you to the community. :) I recently bought the stadium cloth pea coat and I really love it! It is warm and sturdy, the fit is much less boxy than the usual peacoat style and I love all the little touches (like the metal coat hook). I honestly would not have given this coat a second glance if I had not read so many good reviews about it on this blog. So thanks everyone, I really appreciate it!

  2. Wanna give a big thumps up to Lisa, a SA in the Pacific Place B&M. Awesome attitude, even though the store was swamped with post-Christmas shoppers.

  3. A repeat thank you to J Crew for receiving all of my orders with no canx and no problems. Good service on the phones during the holiday season when I called looking for a couple things. Those stores include Washington, Oregon, SF Bay Area and LA/Orange County.

Thanks to Alexis & this blog for all the help we offer each other. I've been helped immensely, so thanks!

  4. Shout out to my awesome online PS who tracked down the Timber Tweed pencil skirt for me! I was able to get the 40% off + free shipping from the store that shipped it. Hooray!

yay.email: So glad you like the Stadium Cloth Peacoat. My husband got mine for me for a Christmas present and it is exactly what I wanted. The fit is super-flattering, and it's warmer than it looks!

  6. I had an excellent experience with Madewell customer service over the phone this morning. I ordered a dress and a jacket and they even matched the in-store pricing (the items were cheaper in-store) and they let me use my 20% and free shipping code. And the lady was super nice.

  7. fast shipping - ordered the silk blousanna tunic on a popback and the brigadier jacket just a couple of days ago and it is out for delivery! - yay.

Also, of course, everyone on the blog for invaluable help, esp. over the holidays. Thanks to Gigi and Ema I was able to track down a couple of hard to find items.

  9. Good afternoon to all-I just finished my annual post holiday closet purge a few days ago and have some "Looking to Love" comments. Like yay.email, I'd like to start with many thanks to Alexis and all the lovely JCAs on this fabulous blog. Through reading many of the reviews and comments, I was able to keep to a minimum the pain and suffering of making a lot of returns due to sizing, buyers remorse(AKA Final Sale) and quality issues. This blog is an invaluable resource to all of us poor souls who live nowhere near a B&M. Previously making a decision to purchase before the "JCA Review" was truly a shot in the dark. I also love the new "Other Retailer" feature-thank you Alexis for being the best Blogadier General ever! Secondly, I'd like to give kudos to my lovely online PS, always helpful, kind and honest, she also possesses a bloodhound's nose when it comes to WWFIFY. And finally, though I've not bought as much as in years past due to quality issues, my Emmaleigh dresses and my two pair of two toned Langford brogues are on my Best of JC honor roll.Even though the molting featherweight cashmere was the bottom of the well as far as cashmere quality, I think the cashmere circa Fall '10, is better than last year. Please forgive the long post.

  10. yay.email - I love my Stadium Cloth Peacoat too, but unfortunately as others have noted, the button popped off today! I haven't worn it 'that' much, & it is not under any strain or stress when I wear it. I'm thankful it fell off in the driveway so I heard it 'clink' on the asphalt. Just keep your eyes, or ears, peeled for falling buttons!

  11. IRL: Which button in particular fell off? One of the inner ones? I'll make sure to be aware of any looseness!

  12. Very odd- however I got a free ship code for $100 spend. If anyone wants it let me know! Jcrewlove@gmail.com

    Thanks!

  13. Appgal - the button at the waist, on the outside of the coat. I know, I know, you're probably thinking my gut busted it but I truly haven't any gut to cause the button threads to break!

It is the most frequently fastened button along w/the button above it. With my procrastinating ways this button is going to end up in my jacket pocket until next year...

  14. HollylovesCrew-

The blousanna I received is the plaid version on sale (however, looks the same as the solid fp version, I think). I like it, which is a good thing since it is fs. Fit is tts, not vanity. I have been taking an xs or a 2 in J Crew camis, but I ordered this in a 4 and it is perfect. I'll wear it now over a black tneck and in the early spring over a cami (definitely needs a layer underneath). I like the puffed sleeves, but they make make it difficult to wear a cardi over. It isn't really tunic length - hits just below the hip on me at 5'4, I'll wear with jeans but not leggings.

    Hope that helps!

  15. I had a couple of returns to make by mail (I'm in Canada and can't pop down to my local B&M, since, yknow, they don't exist...YET!) but accidentally threw out one of the slips with the return info on it. I was worried they'd give me grief about it, but I called J Crew and the girl on the line said she'd put a note on my account so that returns would be able to process it, no problem. Total relief! :D
