J.Crew is letting us know that new styles have been added to their final sale online (click here). There were several new items on sale, as well as pop-backs, at today's sale update.
Some items that are new to sale, and that I am {pleasantly} surprised to see on sale already, include:
- Lexi Satchel
(Item 18261; Regular $425.00, now $249.99) - Cashmere Darling Ruffle V-Neck Sweater
(Item 18246; Regular $178.00, now $159.99) - Boatneck Painter Tee
(Item 17395; Regular $34.50, now $19.99) - Tissue Stone Necklace Tee
(Item 18528; Regular $125.00, now $89.99)
Are you planning to check out J.Crew's Final Sale section? Are there any items you are surprised to see on sale? :)
Wait a minute...J Crew knocks off a whopping $18.01 from the price of their Cashmere Darling Ruffle sweater and marks it final sale? I have been waiting for a code or markdown on this, but this still isn't happening...
ReplyDeleteSorry, but a $100+ sweater on final sale isn't happening period, given my track record with J Crew's fit and quality issues.
Good morning KitsMommy! I had to laugh at the comment about the Cashmere Darling Ruffle because it's so true! ;) That sweater looks beautiful but the sale price isn't reduced by that much (like the Lexi satchel price reduction). But I am hoping that an additional percent off final sale will happen soon to make the final price more attractive to me. :)
ReplyDeleteI am waiting for some good fall mark downs! The holiday stuff is almost out and August arrivals are still not marked down!
ReplyDeleteOT, but if anyone is eyeing the AT cashmere v necks that are online only, their fit/quality is awful, IMO. I ordered the shoreline and rasberry and they run large and very long in the sleeves and body. Also, the shoulder seams are straight (not fully fashioned) so they stick out at the tops of the shoulders. The colors and yarn were pretty, but I wouldn't even give these one out of five stars. I usually have great luck with AT's cashmere, but these are going straight back.
ReplyDeleteAlexis,
ReplyDeleteSorry to make the first comment a negative one, but that made me laugh out loud when I checked my shopping cart and saw the final sale.
Thanks for the post anyway.
This is so frustrating. I've been watching the FS section for the French Terry Tie-Neck Pullover. It finally popped back this morning. There is an XS in light pewter and a Large in Champagne. I keep trying to add the XS light pewter to my shopping cart and every time I click, "Add to Bag" it doesn't update my shopping cart! I even tried to add the Large, thinking maybe the XS was just sold out, but that didn't work either! Has anyone else had this problem before? I was so excited about the popback! :(
ReplyDeletekitsmommy, thanks for the heads-up about the AT cashmere. I receieved my L&T cashmere cardigan and am very happy with it. I sized down and it fit perfectly (was a tad boxy in my size). The plum color is gorgeous, I wore it with the bronzed ochre double-serge skirt from last fall and got lots of compliments.
ReplyDeleteStill curious to hear JCA thoughts on this year's cashmere (quality, durability, etc) but won't be chancing it myself just yet. I have to laugh at some of the 'final sale' prices - Jemma T-straps for $250? On an item you could be potentially stuck with? Yeah, right.
Silver Lining, Thanks for the info on the L&T cashmere. I am considering the hoodie and a cardigan, so I may have to place an order with them.
ReplyDeleteNo problem - I got a hoodie as well and am happy with it, plus the prices were decent and I got free shipping over $99. The shipping was superfast (I think it came from Edison, NJ) and I got my package in 2 days.
ReplyDeleteNo purchases for me, I'm saving my pennies for holiday items/future sales. Plus, the other day, I ordered something from anthropologie I had been stalking for a while. :)
ReplyDeleteHoping for some sizing help from JCAs who have tried on the Minnie pant and who normally wear a size 0. Did you have to size down to 00? TIA!
ReplyDeleteI keep hoping to check the sale section and see that it is no longer FINAL sale...surely it has to end soon! Does anyone remember when it ended during the fall last year?
ReplyDeleteMy B&M doesn't have final sale anymore, so I'm assuming that is probably the case for all of the B&M's now.
It looks like there were some further markdowns on older items as well. For example, the Jayne dress is down from $119 yesterday to $99 today. To buy or not to buy . . .
ReplyDeleteI still have free shipping on my account so I grabbed an old school stripped tie. The free shipping really made it a decent price.
ReplyDeleteLauren S. - I wear a 2 in almost all JC pants and ended up with a 2 in the Minnies. I think it depends on how you want them to fit, because many JCA's did size down. I wanted them to be slim and snug, but not tight, so they would look dressier and I could wear them with more things! I've already worn them many many times in charcoal... can't wait to get another color! You can see them on myself in the size 2 on my blog if you're interested! HTH!
ReplyDeleteThe lexi satchel and gold manor bracelet are looking good to me...
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I purchased from the sale section is the Crystal soiree earrings, along with a FP boyfriend blazer and Sapphire tweed pencil skirt.
ReplyDeleteThe Pleated Lombard ruffle cardigan is back online in sweet guava, sizes S & L.
ReplyDeleteDoes anybody know if the "shadow" color in the Lexi collection is like a dark slate? Does it have a navy hue to it?
ReplyDeleteOh, J.Crew. I need that final sale to END ALREADY so I can order without fear of having to keep things with wonky sizing/quality issues!
ReplyDeleteLaren S. I wear a 0 and I bought a 00 in the Minnie. The 0 looked awful on me, while the 00 looks great. I would size down. I have a post about them here: http://ema-shoppingmycloset.blogspot.com/2009/09/minnie-pants-irl.html
ReplyDeleteHTH!
Ema, thank you! This is very helpful. I'm going to order the
ReplyDelete00. Have a great day. :)
Lindsey B., thanks for your input as well. I'll take my chances with the 00--hopefully they'll fit like I want them to--snug but not too snug around the thigh! I just love the cut of the pants and the versatility, so can't wait to have them. :)
ReplyDeleteKitsmommy - thanks so much for the heads up about the AT cashmere. I was looking online at the aqua v-neck just yesterday. I've had a problem in the past with AT sweaters running very large.
ReplyDeleteNow, does anyone know how the Cambridge cable pocket cardigans run? They're already on final sale!
kitsmommy, I'd waited all spring, summer, and fall for another price drop on the jersey knit ruffle neck tank. Final sale price? $39.99. Regular price? $42. Needless to day I never bought it! I totally agree with you that knocking off a miniscule amount and ability to return limits what will be bought.
ReplyDeleteTotally OT: Went to Loft to exchange a sweater and the SA let me peek at the holiday look book. LOTS of very cute stuff, including an embellished tee I just have to get, feather headbands, a short sleeve rosette cardigan and a page of gift items that looks as if it was taken directly out of last year's J Crew holiday catalog. I've had very good luck with Loft lately and I think it's worth taking a look if you haven't been in a while.
ReplyDeleteLeslie - I haven't seen the Lexi in shadow, but the shadow in other items has a navy hue to it...very deep. HTH a bit.
ReplyDeleteOT - If anyone wants an Old Navy $10 off $50 coupon, I can forward it to you. I found one on their coupon hunting site & I'm not going to use it. It expires tomorrow, 10/8.

ReplyDeleteI ended up getting a Jackie in weathered stone for $39.99. Even though it's FS, you can't go wrong with a Jackie. Loved having the no min. shipping code along with it...
ReplyDeleteI sized down on my Minnie, too.
ReplyDeleteI'm waiting to see next roll out and I totally agree about this dreaded Final Sale.
I just think it's lazy on JC part to send all sales to (ending in .99) FS section. Why can't they create a decent SALE section and a CLEARANCE section like other retailers?
FYI, I have ordered several items from the "final sale" the past month (tees, cashmere sweaters and pants), and have had no problems returning any of the items that didn't work to a B&M. And they were definitely all really old FS items. No one at the B&M has even questioned the return, at all! And on another note, does anyone have the selby hobo? I have been eyeing it for a while now...
ReplyDeleteHi all! Anyone have any thoughts or read any reviews on the Lexi satchel? That's a nice mark down...
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised Campo wasn't marked down, because I think its making the outlet rounds.
Thanks for the heads up Alexis - I was able to get a price adjustment on an order from last week :)
ReplyDeletethanks for the heads up about the boatneck tee, which I'd been wanting and just ordered in 3 colors. also, the campo tote in slate is seriously marked down, and not final sale!
ReplyDeleteOh, poop. I'm still not seeing very many fall/winter stuff marked down enough yet. I agree with the first post, I hate being negative, but I need more than $18 taken off of a $100 sweater to buy it!
ReplyDeleteCome on J.Crew! I'm waiting with baited breath!
Whoa, did you guys know J Crew advertises on Perez Hilton? Just saw an ad on one of the posts I was reading during lunch... so doesn't seem like a fit! http://perezhilton.com/2009-10-06-guess-the-fat-rolls#more-71360
ReplyDeletep.s. if you're actually interested in seeing it, you have to scroll below the post :)
ReplyDeleteCampo tote is on FS and it looks lovely. Wish I needed a tote! I bit and got the vintage matchstick white denim. At $19.99 it can't be that bad...
ReplyDeleteAppGal, I bought the weathered stone Jackie last sale and it's wonderful. It goes with so much stuff (white cords/denim, denim, black skirts, etc.), you won't regret it! :)
himmiefan, IMO The Cambridge Cardigan runs pretty TTS exceppt for the sleeves. They actually hit my knucles and I'm 5'6". Take off the pockets and the gold buttons and add an extra percent off, then I would purchase.
ReplyDeleteI saw the lexi satchel in person, the leather is stiffer than it would seem in the photo. The bag I saw also had inconsistent grains in the leather (one of the pieces was rougher/more lined than the rest of the bag) The color of the shadow bag isn't as saturated either. It certainly wasn't worth the original price compared to other bags on the market at the same price point.
ReplyDeleteBit the bullet and bought the soiree blazer in slate. I was actually going to go to BR today to get a gray blazer for $150 with 40% off but the Crew version was only $40! Plus I thought it would be more versatile than the more heavy flannel BR blazer.
ReplyDeleteI know a lot of people have reviewed the sateen soiree blazer. I am a 2 or a 4 in their jackets and ended up getting the 2. For all those that have the SSB, am I going to be OK in terms of layering in the fall/winter? I guess it's too late now since I already ordered it but I can usually return FS items at my store so I can always bring it back. Just curious.
I actually ordered a few things - was glad to see a further markdown on the Jayne dress. I have it in navy and love it, so welcomed another color (the bright pink). Also liked seeing the cable knit cardigan in all of its colors, and also scooped up the merino bow-covered cardigan and the swirling flower tee. I needed a wardrobe update and this stuff hit the spot.
ReplyDeleteBecause a girl cannot have enough cardigans in her wardrobe, I just took the plunge and bought 2 cambridge cable pocket cardigans - one in plum raisin (one of my favorite colors this fall) and one in heather cypress. Either I'm gaining weight (oh no!) or JC is changing their sizing again, but JC cardis in Small, my usual size, have been fitting rather tightly lately, especially in the armpits. So, I got Medium, and I hope they work out!
ReplyDeleteI bought a sweater on sale, along with my fs code it made it worthwhile to take the risk.
ReplyDeleteDebra and JKW - thanks for the info on the Cambridge cable cardigans!
ReplyDeleteSo I agree about the Darling Ruffle, not much of a markdown yet, but I still want it. How has it been fitting people? I am usually a medium in JC sweaters, but as it is final sale I would love to know how it is fitting people. Already ordered the Cashmere vneck ($99 and a great basic!) in sandalwood and the strati tank this morning (yay free shipping at $100!).
ReplyDeleteI GOT THE EARRINGS!! I did not expect to AT ALL because a) the last "thank you" I received was in 07 and was a pocket planner (althogh it did have that beautiful plaid interior) and because everyone else seems to have received them last week (expect some west coasters). But there was that nice little white package in the mailbox today! Quel surprise! :)
ReplyDeleteMy ps told me that they've been accepting some returns - if the items isn't marked final sale, then you can return it. Fortunately, many of the newly marked down items aren't marked final sale. I'm headed to my b&m on Saturday morning. My ps said that new arrivals will be on the floor Friday morning and that there are two shirts he's excited about - one is the cupcake and the other is a tee. I really need to wait until I get paid again, but I may have to buy if they're that good! :)
ReplyDeleteAmy,
ReplyDeleteYour items must have not been marked final sale on the recipt as (mathteacher mentioned as well). Otherwise, I know my two B&M stores WOULD NOT accept final sale items as returns in MN.
OT --
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone have the Minnie pants who's not a 0 or 00? I wonder how they fit on someone who's a 4 or 6? Are they as tight as say, the toothpick jeans? Are they flattering on someone whose legs aren't necessarily "mini"? Or are they sausage casings?
Cliquot, I kind of felt like they were sausage casings. I wear a 4, normally. Used to be a 6 before vanity sizing. I have pretty thin legs and frame (like the models, but on a larger scale I guess) but I still felt like they were very unflattering.
ReplyDeleteI am hoping the sale Jackie will pop back tomorrow. I wish I could have a Jackie in every color... sigh
Anyone own or try on or even SEE the INK DOT DRESS in their B&M? I've been waiting for it to go on sale but now that its FS, I'm hesitant. Thx!
ReplyDeleteCliquot- I'm normally a 6 in their pants but sized down in the minnies to a 4 and honestly I love them. I'm not a teeny model, but they are very flattering on me. They're fitted but super tight and not uncomfortable.
ReplyDeleteAnyone have the cafe capris in the Golden Hickory color? I can't really tell what's going on with that color... is it nice, or hideous?
ReplyDeleteCliquot - I am also a size 6 (everywhere but JC) and I did not like the minnies. However, I LOVE the toothpick! I liked the minnies on my legs, but felt they looked funny elsewhere. The sa's and my ps liked them on me, but I wasn't happy. I should add I only tried on my normal size, so maybe I would have liked them better sized down, BUT I doubt it b/c of the problem area.
ReplyDeleteCliquot:
ReplyDeleteI don't have thin calves and the toothpick jeans were too tight on me. But I really like the way Minnie fits. You can check out a picture of me wearing it at my blog. The only thing about the Minnie is that it's dry clean only and I ended buying a black denim today since I'll get more wear from the jeans. :-)
Em: I like the Hickory color in cafe capri pants. It goes well with blue shirts or neutrals and perfect for this time of year at least here in So.Cal where I can still wear them. HTH
Em,
ReplyDeleteI have the capri in golden hickory. It's really cute. The color reminds me of the golden cypress many shades darker leaning toward the gold side. So it's golden-green with a brown base.
I wear the with my honey glazed cashmere cardigan and they are very cute together.
HTH
Courtney
jcmama and Courtney, thank you! I am going to buy them now. Can't resist for $19.99 and free shipping! Especially since I love anything that goes well with honey glaze, one of the best JCrew colors ever!
ReplyDeleteFINALLY the embroidered linen shift (15201) is marked down. Does anyone have it? I'm afriad with those tailored JC dresses that I am just not quite tall enough and they don't hang right.
ReplyDeleteAnd the ink dot dress is lovely, too...one of the more petite SAs at my store had it on recently and it was ADORABLE
The "final sale" games are quite perplexing these days. For example- I purchased the Watercolor tortoiseshell skirt on FINAL SALE (printed on the invoice) for 69.99 on September 2nd
ReplyDeleteI just noticed that it is back in the skirt section at full price- $148.00. I just bought several swimsuits from the final sale section, yet none of them showed up final sale on the invoice. Inventory control gone wild.
Just got a September catalog in the mail today with free shipping, that is good until September 6th. Oh boy!
ReplyDeleteI received a final sale sweater that msut have been mismarked size-wise. The bag clearly stated it was final sale. I had absolutely no problem returning the sweater to my B&M. Size issue or not, it was "no problem" per the SA in making the return.
ReplyDeleteCliquot, I am a 2/4 but I have a curvy rather than skinny figure, and I like the Minnies a lot, although the JCAs seem to be split on them. Because of the skinny silhouette I was afraid to size down, but I think they would look better on me if I had.
ReplyDeleteI personally am not seeing anything on the site that excites me..I went a bit 'overboard' after the first fall rollouts, and made several purchases over the past couple of months; I currently have 3 sweaters, 1 skirt, and 1 button up from JCrew (along with several items from other stores) that I have not even worn! I love fall and tend to get excited, but the weather here (MA) has been unseasonably warm, and I havent gotten around to wearing many of the fall pieces... If I see a lot I like in the new rollout, some things may be going back...
ReplyDeletePS, I am a 2 in JCrew pants and I hated the Minnies on me--Im very slim in the hipss esp, and legs, but I found them very unflattering, JME
Does anyone have the knotted cotton-sateen dress? $39.99 is pretty darn good. Some of the crewcuts stuff was drastically reduced. A cardigan I have been eyeing went from $34.99 to $24.99 and is still available in a number of sizes.
ReplyDeleteThe white matchstick jeans are an amazing price. Is it foolish to buy skinny pants when pregnant knowing you won't be able to wear them for atleast 9 MORE months?

ReplyDeleteLeanna, I just returned that belt (size small) in that color to my local store: 619 491 0054
ReplyDeleteThanks Molly! Did you not like the belt / was it very different IRL?
ReplyDeleteIt is a little darker IRL than online- more mauve than pink.
ReplyDeleteJaneEsq - I don't know what SSB is, but I have the soiree in the grey color & prefer it to the BR flannel blazer, which I just recvd the other eday. It's going back to BR. I will be wearing the soiree thru winter. We have a more mild climate here (no snow), but I definitely see it layered.
ReplyDelete
