"Thanks!" to many of you, including Silver_Lining & FFM (in this post), as well as Marietta, who let us know about J.Crew's latest news and email.
J.Crew sent an email announcing new Fall arrivals online for women (click here to view), for men (click here to view) and Crewcuts (click here to view). (I haven't checked them out yet- but I plan to right after posting this!) :)
What are your thoughts on the new arrivals? Are you excited (or disappointed) by any of the new additions? Is it too early to be thinking about Fall? ;)
Too early. I want to enjoy my summer and not think of back to school/back to teaching/back to wearing layers. I love summer clothes the best. I can get out the door much faster as well!
ReplyDeleteI'm a bit disappointed.... not much new at all, a lot of the items were already on the website. I did ask my PS to order the Grand corsage top and the vintage cord pencil skirt. Both are at good price points, IMO. Oh well, I guess we'll have to wait until the end of the month for the Fall goodies!
ReplyDeleteLOOOOVE the Indigo Floral silk shell especially after A Bigger Closet reviewed the skirt with the same fabric. Am actually considering paying full price for it!
ReplyDeleteI think I may only have found a few things that were actually new. At least one shirt I noticed had already been released for my B&M. I have been very underwhelmed lately with the redundancy of many of the items. Hopefully I will see something wonderful for fall.
ReplyDeleteI am with you, Genny!
ReplyDeleteNooooo!
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I "ooohed" over were the new cord colors. I love the bootcut cords for fall and am happy to see some beautiful colors out. Also happy to see the vintage cord pencil skirt back. My honey glaze one from last fall is one of my favorite wardrobe pieces.
ReplyDeleteDowntown field jacket is ok, and schoolboy blazer is reminiscent of the Lexington, but I don't need another blazer.
ReplyDeleteOh great, more things are offered in 00. I guess this means I have no idea what size I'm supposed to be buying, yet again.
Like appgal, I am most excited about the cord colors. I love my cord pencil skirts from last year and would love another. As for the cord pants, I'll wait and see if they get marked down. It's too hot to be thinking about cords! :D
ReplyDeleteyey! the old style of cashmere tee is back!!! :) the old style is sooooo much better than the style from this spring/summer
ReplyDeleteI am already thinking that the tortoise skirt is something I may be willing to pay full price for. I love it.
ReplyDeleteOT, but if anyone picked up the Aurora heels in this recent 20% off and don't love them, please let me know! I missed out. I'm looking for a 6.5 or 7. mrsnonia@aol.com
The only items that caught my eye were the cute slub-cotton stamped Paisley tee (nice price point on this one!) and the new colors for the cashmere long-sleeved crew-neck tee (Dusty Blossom, Warm Mustard, and Rustic Orange are my favs). I'm still crazy about the Indigo Floral silk shell and skirt. I never buy items at full price, so I'll take my chances on these items and will wait for sale prices. Happy weekend, everyone!
ReplyDeleteWish the new co-ed cord mini didn't have flap pockets. Would have been perfect if they just did it in the same style as the French cord trouser mini from a few seasons ago (button/welt pocket).
ReplyDeleteI really love the colors for the cashmere tee: heather hydrangea, heather cypress and sweet guava in particular. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI, too, liked the Grand Corsage top, but I wish it were offered in another color besides white.
And I agree with tastymoog - the School Boy Blazer reminds me of the Lexington. On closer inspection, I am sure it won't be quite as detailed. Since this is early fall roll-out though, I imagine the more substantial/thicker blazers will be out later.
I'm waiting for more before buying :) ...
Downtown denim trouser, here I come!
ReplyDeleteNottinghill ankle boots in slate have my name written all over them. I am also with desert flower on the tortiseshell skirt. Not too much new though, I agree with everyone else. What are your faves alexis?
ReplyDeleteCan hardly wait for post-fab princess's J.Crew math on the ribboned rose tee in the grey with the white TP, oops, I mean ribbon.
ReplyDeleteaudball: I was at the NY COlumbus Circle store last night and they had the long sleeve cashmere sweaters in store already. the hydrangea color is sooooooo pretty - wow. so is the heather aqua color.
ReplyDeleteI'm excited to give my poor closet a break from all the pink/lavender from this season and move onto some blues! :)
Looks like the cashmere vneck tee has a snugger fit and higher neckline. I'd be very happy about that, I hope it is not another online lie.
ReplyDeleteI didn't see much new either. Pretty disappointing.
I have to say though, WTH is with the moccasins?!?
Just saw the Grand Corsage Top (17144) at my B&M - it is totally see-through, and the flowers were whiter than the top, which was obviously ivory. Bummer, it looked cute online.
ReplyDeleteI am excited to see some color showing up - like the poplin Brynn dress in warm wisteria and the Saturday twist dress in plum raisin.
Not much new at all! No new shoes either!
ReplyDeleteI'm liking the Silk Petal Tank, the Schoolboy Jacket, the Downtown Field Jacket, and the Nottingham High-Heel Boots (which were already on the site for a few weeks).
Love the pencil skirt cord in dark aubergine...size 0 is already on back order. Other than the pretty new colors, the same styles are still there. I know that once August comes around, there will be more fall styles to drool over! Can wait!
ReplyDeleteweird that there were only a couple of new things. i really liked the corsage top though. wish it came in other colors.
ReplyDeleteI own a corduroy skirt in dark aubergine. It was a riding style skirt JCrew had out a couple of years ago. Still very cute. So for me, nothing new...same colors as in past years....unless you are new to JCRew! :)
ReplyDeleteHi all,
ReplyDeleteI must admit, I'm glad they reminded me of the fall fashions. I had nearly talked myself into buying another dress, 20% off temptation, that I don't REAAAALLLY need. At least not as much as some of the new items.
Like many JCAs I'm thrilled to see more cord skirts & new v-neck sweaters. They're my go-to clothes on fall/winter weekends & I'm happy to expand my collection! Most esp since these skirts are back -zip, which I find more flattering.
Also into the accessories. Thanks again for the great campo reviews --any thoughts on the tote vs bag conundrum? Just don't have the $$$ for both :{
Oh & just to tempt my fellow JCAs, the dress I almost bought was the Sydney in tea rose, item #11830. I have a navy that fits well & a tea rose Jayne, so I almost talked myself into getting another.
Now I can cheerfully fantasize about a whole range of skirts instead.
Thanks jcrew!
Happy weekend everyone,
Heather:D
Is it just me, but I see the "Stay Tuned..." screen.
ReplyDeleteOh, J.Crew... really? ;)
Site is down. The dreaded "Stay Tuned" message is up. Haven't seen that for quite a while...
ReplyDeleteAre they smoking crack with the pricing of this shirt? This is probably worse than the 900 foul weather jacket.

ETA: Hi Alice!
Dave, I'm with you about the shirt you gave a link to. Not my kinda shirt at all; let along the $239 price.
ReplyDeleteI am liming the Fulton check one.

the grand corsage top actually does come in another color, it's a chic light-plum color, great for the summer-to-fall transition. As far as i'm concerned it's a retail only color though, and it wasn't being carried by all the nyc stores. I just picked it up today, the color makes all the difference (in a good way) IMO, and def beats the white.
ReplyDeletenevermind i got the other color on the corsage top- it's warm wisteria, same as the color on the poplin brynn dress ..looks a smidgeeee darker irl is what i think
ReplyDeleteFor those of you who are commenting on the fact that there are not many new pieces...you may have noticed that this is a pattern. JC does this inbetween monthly updates to keep customers engaged (and buying) before the new stuff is release towards the end of the month. At least that is the pattern I've been noticing.
ReplyDeletemilman311- Makes sense, I have noticed they do that.
ReplyDeleteThanks to this email and mini-release, I'm already thinking about buying fall clothes and in the northeast it barely just got warm enough for summer...

ReplyDeleteAnyone else notice that they have the wrong top shown, on the Solid Antique Ruffle Top? Pretty sloppy, Jcrew.
ReplyDeleteOther than that top (assuming it is the sleeveless one shown in the first picture) I see nothing I like. And it's kinda similar to the Elizabeth, anyway.
I didn't see anything that grabbed me but I am anxiously awaiting more Fall items to come.
ReplyDeleteEM-good catch!
Shannon- It does look like the v necks are higher on the cashmere sweaters. I know I will like the higher neckline!
Em--I noticed that too! It has been like that for several days now...you'd think they'd catch it by now-sheesh! I really like that top too...it's really pretty in the sea green color.
ReplyDeleteJoella: I picked up the grand corsage top in warm wisteria today as well :) I love that color! I posted a pic of it on my blog if anyone wants to see.

I hope J.Crew makes a lot of pieces in that color this fall ... purple is my favorite color, and this shade is so pretty.

ReplyDeleteLooks like my pink 1950s typewriter in the flannel jacket image!
ReplyDeleteIf you twitter, JCrew can be followed (they announced the backstage at JCREW was finally airing on CBS this morning):

Hm. Check out J.Crew's cotton marrakesh top and Anthropologie's emaline pullover. Exact same top, different material. But I bet Anthro's hangs better - you wouldn't have to do the patented j.crew "front tuck-in" or put a belt around it to make it look good.
ReplyDeleteI love the poplin brynn dress -- it's pretty and is machine wash and looks like it'd be easy to care for -- win win win. But I just got rid of half my closet and am *trying* not to buy anything new for a long time.
