Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to take advantage of what's left (if anything) in the winter sale or to see some new Spring/ Resort arrivals in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  13. They had roll-out (for those of us who used to work for the company) yesterday, so all new items are in the stores now! Everything looks great, I love the new skirts, shorts, and dresses.

  14. twosome1: Are there any new jersey knit dresses or skirts? I haven't fallen in love with any of the current knit dress offerings yet, so I was hoping there'd be something new coming out! TIA!

  17. I'll probably do a quick tour of the new arrivals when I head out to the mall tomorrow to look for my MIL's birthday gift. Nothing I've seen on the website I have to have, and I'm still waiting for my spectator peep toes that were supposed to arrive yesterday. I wish they'd been the pink but the pic of the red was cute too. I can't wait to get them on my tootsies! I keep reminding myself that patience is a virtue, and I thought for months I'd missed my chance with them anyway, so an extra day shouldn't seem that long...

So no updates to the sale section again today?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Can someone post if their store has Joley flats or heels? sizes? colors?price? (my store doesn't have shoes) tx!

    ReplyDelete
  19. No, not going to go and look at the new stuff. Am waiting for a sale. I don't buy anything at full price so why be tempted plus the offerings have been less than exciting lately. Will wait for a bigger roll out and hopefully some big markdowns. Otherwise, I don't NEED anything. Planning a trip to Europe this summer so will save my money for shopping over there. Second time I have been and am getting excited for June 25th!

  20. OT, but someone mentioned on a post a while back about "hidden" items on JC website. How do you find or search for the hidden items?

  22. no jcrew this weekend, will be out of town :)

OT, but can anyone comment on the fit of the high heel flare jeans (clean indigo) in comparison to martin+osa jeans? i'm so confused about my jcrew sizing now, and the final sale has me being more cautious. i used to be an 8T in jcrew, but i tried on a pair of 30s in the store and it was huge. i'm a 28 in m+o, so just wondering if i should jump down to a 28...

  23. I have the Nicky spring dots skirt in beige, size 6 (10583). A little small on me. Asking $25 shipping included.

Also have the navy eyelet ballet flats (88508) size 9 that I ordered online last week, so in the box and everything, but they are a little too big on me. $45 shipped.

e-mail me at maui400@gmail.com if you are interested.

  24. There were lots of size 0 Nicky skirts in Navy at both the Asheville store and the Southpark store in Charlotte. Soo may want to call them if you're looking for 0s as that's pretty much all they had in anything. 0 or 14.

  32. lcsmom: I saw a dk charcoal rolling ruffles xs tank at the Paramus Garden State Plaza store in NJ. That was about a week ago though so who knows if they still have it. I am going there this evening and was going to see if they still had a small in dk charcoal. I love that store because they have alot of selection but hate it because customer service really stinks there!! Most of the associates there are crabby.

  35. I went to Easton Town Center today to check out the new arrivals.

The good news is, there are a few brighter colors. Like a short-sleeved printed top with the lattice detail at the neckline which was quite pretty and bright. Prints just don't tend to look good on me, and this had a boxy shape which doesn't flatter my curves. Yes, it was VERY sheer. They also had the matching print in a 3" short.

For those of you who LOVE the zebra tee, they had a 3" lavender critter shorts with small grey zebras on them.

I bought one new thing at full-price (minus my teachers discount). It was a new top. The label reads J. Crew Vintage Closet (or something to that effect). They had the top in grey with white trim and in white. It is short-sleeved, button down and pleated in the front with vintage looking rick rack running down the pleats, around the sleeves and the collar. It is fitted with a lovely shape. It is sheer, but you couldn't see my nude bra through it. The regular price on it is $68 ($57.80 with discount). I have a feeling it will go fast because it is a universally flattering shape.

On a different subject, I stopped at Old Navy to get my son a Spiderman Tee that was sold out during the friends and family event. I have used Gap gift cards in the past online to pay for Old Navy purchases, so I inquired if it could be done in store. She tried my gift card and it worked. I thought you all might like to know.

  36. FYI-

Easton Town Center didn't have the scarf-print cami referenced in another post or the new floral pencil skirt seen.

They also didn't have the new catalog yet. They said it would be available next week about the same time as the online postings.

  37. Nichi, thank you for the info. on some of the new arrivals! I can't wait to hear more reviews as I live in Canada and can't get to a store. :-)

  39. OT - I'm thinking of buying the Duchamp print Astor jacket off ebay. I really like the pattern, but it's gonna be too warm where I live (FL) to wear it really until next season. Do you think it'll still be stylish in the Fall? Does anyone who has it like it? Love it?

    Thanks!

  46. Oh, and I also saw the aqua ruffled henley for the first time in person. It truly looks so frayed that it would fall apart very easily upon first wearing/washing.

It's so sad that J. Crew seems to be distressing everything. I like my clothes to look well-made and put-together. I don't think that J. Crew has realized that vintage doesn't mean frayed.

    Hopefully summer will be better.

  47. I stopped by my B&M to see the new stuff and I was not impressed.

I have the Duchamp Astor and I love it. I stalked the website for over 2 months to get it at $149 less 20% off. The fabric is fairly heavy wool, like the double-serge but not quite as soft. The white is actually more of a very pale ivory, not a true bright white. Other colors in the print are chocolate and black.

The print is from a vintage scarf and looks classic and not trendy, especially with the classic colors. I plan to wear it in spring with an ivory or navy skirt or white/faded jeans and then again in fall with darker colors. It is not overly warm, but too hot for florida at this time of year.

The jacket has a very slight a-line shape, which gives sit a bit of swing and I feel, contributes to the chic appeal. There is no inverted pleat so it is not boxy. The sleeves are not overly long, but I do have long arms so if you do as well, that may be a factor. It definitely has a Parisian look to it and looks great with skirts, pants and even jeans. I don't buy many printed jackets but had to have this one, it is gorgeous.

If you have other specific questions I would be happy to answer them.

  50. I love the floral skirt from the magazine in Shannon's blog! I'd even buy it full price! Has anyone seen in IRL?

OT- I have a gray beaded zebra t in Medium that I bought spontaneously when I actually saw one in-store. I'm not sure it's me exactly, so if anyone is interested in buying it off of me or having me tell JC to hold it when I return it later today, please email me lboggess@gmail.com.

  51. Anon at 9:50....

I received the Silk Fresco Dress in the mail this week and promptly returned it. While the print is lovely and I typically find that JC shift dresses flatter my figure (5'9", size 10, hourglass), the design of this dress was all wrong for me. To name a few things...

    1) Shoulder straps set very wide (made my narrow shoulders look manly)
    2) No shaping whatsoever through the waist. There is no waist definition and it is baggy through the waist (it's even baggy at the waist on the model in the photo online).
    3) Tight at bust and hips :(

I soooo wanted to love this dress, but the fit was hideous on me. However, the fabric was a very nice summer-weight, lined silk and the pattern was actually slimming. Perhaps if u have a straighter figure, it will look better on you. Let me know if you have more questions!

    ReplyDelete
  52. xoxo - Thanks so much for the great information on the Duchamp jacket! I think it is a classic pattern (moreso than the snow leopard jacket that I also love) and I think I will buy it! Does it run true to size?

  56. SC Crew - I think what you're talking about is that the search function on the J. Crew website sometimes, not always, brings up items that are not listed if you just clicked in a catagory. For example, I did a search once using the term "bracelet," and the results included a bracelet not included in the full-price jewelry section or the sale section.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Anon @ 4:19: I am between a regular 6 and 8 in JC jackets (8P is my best fit) and sizing down in the Duchamps gave me the better fit. The jacket is more outerwear than blazer (though I've pulled it off as a blazer because I live in the snowy, cold midwest) so there is ample room in the shoulders.

  75. I found the Duchamp Astor to be basically TTS, although it is not roomy in the armholes/shoulders. I cannot wear a thick sweater underneath, only a knit top or blouse. Because it is not meant as a winter coat, that is fine.

I wear a 10 in most all J.Crew jackets and ordered 10 in the Duchamp Astor. I read other reviews last fall and winter that mentioned it was slightly small-fitting, but I didn't want to go up a size as I need a 10 up top to accommodate my bust but I have a small waist. I take a 4/6 on the bottom and if I go to a 12 jacket it will be way too floppy around the middle.

  76. neverenoughcardis: I am lusting after the grey bubble necklace too! On a whim, I ordered one as a "ride-a-long" and now I don't want to take it back!

I afraid its going to be awhile before this one goes on sale. As I recall, that's how it went with the colors that were offered last summer. I am hoping for another private sale or a jewelry promotion.

Has anyone purchased or tried on their blazers? I was wondering if they were TTS.

I will be going to JC over the weekend If I find some free time. I need to return the Silver Lame Bermuda shorts. The price went down by $20. I was able to take advantage of the 20% off online. I saved $25 with the shipping. I have a beige Zoey tank in a size 8 those armholes are huge. I will try to return that also.

  96. I went to the JC on 5th ave in NYC bought a skirt- the cashier wouldn't apply my student id! It was only when I said I wasn't interested that she brought over the "manager" and said it was a one time "courtesy." That really bothered me because they advertise the coupon and now they take it away?

    ReplyDelete

  98. Lexington KY Store has crystal pillow necklace on sale for $39.99. Also they had a pair of lulu metallic flats. Not sure of the price or the size, but it could be worth a call for someone!

    ReplyDelete
  99. Was at my JC B&M this afternoon. Not much sale, and no extra % off. I used to work at outlet here in Vegas, so I know the SA's. One of the mgrs told me that the extra % and better sales might not happen as much since they lowered price points for spring. I left empty handed :(

I did order from the web the other day and all of my items (3) shipped! I was expecting the dreaded email stating my items were sold out.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Limegrean_lover

I was wondering why they wouldn't let you use your student discount? Don't they have to if the item isn't on sale? Was it on sale or something? The discrepancies J crew has with their sale/student discount is truly infuriating! Last summer on their final sale items, they let me use my student discount, multiple times. I used it spring and summer kusy with regualr sales, and no problem. The last few months I went in to buy jewelry or hair accessories, and they were like, it can't be used with any other sale, ever. After explaining to them and even showing them a receipt from last summer with an extra 15% off for the student discount, they were like, oops, you hot lucky, but that's not how it works! So annoying.

I'm sorry, this may sound dumb, but what is the red phone for in some J. Crew stores?

Has anyone actually seen the Havona tank in there store? All three of mine said they think it was online only, but I could have sworn that some JCA's saw they in store. TIA.

Last question, I promise! Has anyone seen any of the Fall 2008 pink and yellow striped cobra bracelets in their stores? I got a tip from another JCA awhile ago that they had a bunch in Beachwood OH, but when I called they said they were sold out. TIA!!

  101. I did visit today to try on some of the new items. I ended up with a navy and white tunic (not tunic length, though, so not sure why they call it a tunic) (also, sized up). It was very flattering and selling very well. Plus, it's machine washable. :) I also loved the slub cotton cottage dress(TTS), but could only get 1 fp item. The dress will be a definite buy in the future. I tried on the cabana dress (TTS) at the request of my sa - eh, maybe when it gets super marked down. It's listed as a cover-up, but it's thick enough and long enough to wear as a dress - with a tank, of course. I also tried on a new print top (the same print as the shorts in slastena's post with new catalog pics), but it was just okay. Maybe after 2-3 markdowns. I tried on 2 knit tops - one had a square neck and was a-line - just didn't like (sized down). The other was a deep v (but not so deep to need a tank) with flowers around the collar (TTS). Very pretty, but liked the tunic and knit dress better. Plus, ATL has one that I like as well. I will probably buy the ATL one as it's a nicer knit material (not so thin). Neither knit was see through, which was nice for a change.

  102. I bought 2 extremely discounted items today (a cashmere vest and shirt for my nephew). The vest was 4.99 and the shirt was 1.99 and I was able to use the teacher discount on those. So, not sure what the problem is.

  103. Mel,

Is the cobra bracelet the one that was posted on JCA a while back...the one that looks kind of phallic? If so, I might have seen them at the J. Crew in Birminhgam at the Summit.

I was just at the store around 5:30! I tried on a new shirt that was a blue and white oxford style shirt, but with little feminine touches. The label said J. Crew Haberdashry. It looks like this is a line like the vintage closet mentioned before. Really cute shirt for work, but I will probably buy on sale.

  105. leaderboys, I was there this morning! I wondered if you were maybe one of the women in the dressing room. :) Does that shirt also come in lavender? If so, I bought it last week. It's hard to pass up a good purple, and it works well with my eyes. :) We'll have to meet there one of these days.

I know it's a long shot but thought i'd try here, would love to find it if anyone has one they no longer wear and would like to sell....size medium would be great..

  113. Cathy I just bought the mint Coralie Flats for 29.99 at the Grove in Los Angeles. They had brown and some other colors in different sizes. I hope this helps. They are adorable. I also purchased 2 cotton v-neck sweaters for 19.99 on in beige and another in lime and 2 printed linen Kelly belts. I got all this for a exchange on the Linen Lame Bermuda's. I repurchased them online for $25 less.
I also purchase 2 skirts and a really pretty silk w/metallic long scarf at BR's.
I won't be entering any stores tommorrow when I go back to Bev Ctr to pick up my watch thats for sure!

  118. Has anyone seen the pleated lawn skirts in the B&M stores? They come in ivory, brown and pink. They showed the ivory one in the store with a simple perfect tank and I loved the look. The skirt isn't online, and the "heather dusk" color of the tank was an in store only color. The skirt has a ballerina tutu quality to it (but totally subtle and completely wearable.) The slight fanciness of the skirt coupled with the laid back casual look of the tank is perfect. Just wondering if any of you have tried it on? It ran a bit on the small side IMO

  119. Does anyone have any guesses on when they'll update the online sale section? Thanks!!

  120. L - there usually is not a big update on Sunday. But, you never know since a promo just ended. ;) Usually the updates are right around now.

  121. Pleated Lawn Skirts [Item 14531]:

Heaven! Full of amazing delicate soft mini-pleats, light-as-air material that floats, and a waste that has a flattering fitted section--before it floats out to pleated skirt. I tried it on in the khaki color and bought it immediately; price, a reasonable $70. Looked amazing with tees & cardigans, but also various astrid jackets I have, and the jeans jacket with Victoria cami.

TTS for me (I'm an 8 in all pencils, this one, too). The length is just like the lovely GREEN skirt in Alexis' signature "Eiffel Tower Couples" photo. [Loved the ivory, too, but couldn't see how I would keep it clean-looking; I'm a magnet for pen marks and dropped liquids.]

  122. Silver-Haired JC'er, I saw those too and thought they were cute because they didn't go OMGCRAZY with the pleats all the way around the skirt (which we all know can be quite unflattering on some figures).

Also saw the jersey tees with the satin band across the bottom - I'm unsure about this style on anything but a super-straight figure, because the band probably hits at the hips.

  123. ^ Silver Lining: You are right--that's why, I think, the skirt works; the architecture is brilliant. [I'm wearing your wonderful red Alabama eye frames today, with all black and white JCrew.]

  124. Me, I have seen the Havona only at the Madison Collection store in NYC. As of yesterday night they were sold-out but the SA told me that they should receive more (she was unable to tell me when though). Hope it helps!
I'm going to post a review soon in my blog.

  126. B&Ms are offering 25% off all regular priced shoes when I went to check the new rollout today...

Waiting for the joleys to get marked down a bit further though.

  127. I was there yesterday, Saturday, at the JCrew in the Kenwood Mall in Cincinnati. I picked up a bright orange v-neck sweater for $19.99 and also broke down and bought the new strapless eyelet dress in gray. It is adorable and if you're considering it, you should snatch it up quickly because it's a store only item. They have it in navy, white and gray. I tried on a 2 but needed a 4 and they didn't have it in store. They actually had to call a couple of stores to locate on in that color and my size... It's freaking adorable. They had a range of sizes in the white and in the navy but the grays are going quick...

  128. fiyah & amanda,

do either of you have the item number for the v-necks you bought? i'm looking for a couple casual sweaters for work and $19.99 sounds like a great price. thanks so much!

  129. Casual Crew your welcome.

Anon 828pm this is the item #11022 for the cotton V-neck sweaters. I picked up a XS fits perfect and a M for layering.

  131. I tried on the slub cotton knit cottage dress today and my goodness is it sheer. Seriously its cover-up sheer. I tried on the black and there was no way I could wear it on a sunny day without the world seeing the outline of my inner thighs. For $69couldn't Jcrew make cotton a little thicker? It was adorable as heck but too sheer. I was sad to leave it but it needed more fabric. I could tell instantly that the quality of the dress was not like last year's dresses. Even the Plisse strap dress is made better. Sad because the cottage dress is so cute.

If your thinking of ordering it plan on buying it for a cover-up or investing in a slip.

  132. I thought I posted the item # for the Coralies here but I guess it was in another post. #11701

  133. Amanda,

Can you describe the shape and cut of the eyelet dress you purchased? It sounds like it must be pretty spectacular for you to have "caved" ! Is it slim or voluminous? Even better would be pics! Although a description would be fabulous. I'm always excited to hear about in-store only items. My b&m is fairly small, so I tend miss out on a bit. TIA!
