J.Crew's "Pick Me Up" :)

"Thanks!" to Laura (in this post) who alerted us to a new feature on the homepage (click here). The new feature is called "today's Pick-Me-Up" which offers a "a special deal to make your day". The offer then leads to a pair of critter wedge flip flops for $6.50 (regular price $26.50).

I am not sure how long this feature will last, or if they will have rotating products, but I think this is an interesting concept. I look forward to seeing more items being offered! :)

What are your thoughts on the "today's Pick-Me-Up"? Do you think they will offer more items (per day)? How long do you think this will last? :)

  1. I noticed that post, thanks for letting us all know!

I checked out the flip flops and it's a great deal (they are THE MOST COMFORTABLE FLIP FLOPS I have), but I already have two pairs at home.

    Looking forward to more deals!

  4. I loved this concept at first and would have totally purchased a pair, but didn't want to pay for all that extra shipping cost. It's a no-go for me, but hopefully new products will keep rotating... :)

  5. Great promo, I hope they change up the product offered often! (maybe some jewelry??)

  6. This is a great deal if you're already paying for shipping other items. Would definitely be nice to see a regular pick-me-up featured.

  7. If they offered free shipping with the pick-me-up, now that would be sweet! Talk about impulse buying!

  8. Come on people, this is still a great price/deal even if you have to pay shipping. Two pairs of flip flops for (about) $20 delivered? That sounds good to me!!

I do hope it changes daily! I could a bargain on some tees or jewelry! :)

  10. Yeah, I think if this becomes a "daily deal" sort of thing, they'll have some very happy customers! Definitely me included! :)

  11. Either they already took the offer down or I am blind because I just spent ten minutes squinting at the home page and examining every pixel on the screen and I did not see the link. Am I insane???

  12. I can't see it, either, so it's not just you!

  13. Can't find it either!

  14. It's down. I was hoping they were going to do a new item every 24 hrs...

  15. Boden has been doing this as well for the past 2-3 years. JCrew is copying them as well.

The good thing about the Land's End and Boden daily promo is you CAN get FREE SHIPPING with those two companies so it is not to much to ask JC to do the same.

  16. Reminds me of Garnet Hill's Sale of the Day. I'm glad that JCrew is slowly coming around...(between this and the red card - which I haven't rec'd! - it seems like they are doing right by their loyal customers)

  17. Pass on this deal for me...I am not going to pay JCrew's high shipping fees. It makes the deal not really a deal then!

  18. anon @9:20, free shipping would be great. Even with such a nice deal, the high shipping for one item talks me out of it. So then I think I should look around for some other stuff, see if I can make the shipping worth it. By the time I've done all of that, I've talked myself out of the whole thing and I've bought nothing. Like others have said, many stores out there do this, and with their low or free shipping a person is much more likely to hit that "complete order" button. REI also does this, and they have free ship to store so it is no risk to ever order from them. I wish JCrew offered such risk free shopping, but with their high shipping and final sales, alas, they do not.

  19. Dang it I missed it! I have been watching the flip flops in the sale section because I really need some new ones too. Drats! Thanks for letting us know though :)

  20. So what if it's like Boden, Lands End, or Garnet Hill's daily promo.

Maybe J.CREW is trying to please you guys, making an effort in this tough time for everyone...though I don't know why- you complain about EVERYTHING!

This will be my last time reading this blog. Though I love what Alexis has done, it has only shown what selfish and demanding customers J.CREW has.

  21. The deal of the day is as old as the blue light special. Who really invented it anyway? At least J.Crew gave it a try. It's gone now, but perhaps will return again with a new item. Or maybe it will be presented at the checkout like some other websites. I hate that annoying pitch and never impulse buy. But I can see it likely works for retailers. I mean, you've already paid for shipping the rest of your order, why not add a cheap ride-along...

  22. Hey, it's a good marketing ploy to reduce excess inventory or slow moving merchandise. I like the idea of having a deal pop up, rather than troll through FS, looking for a bargain.

I don't think people were complaining at all. Not one little bit. They were just stating they have seen this at other retailers before. CHILL! BIG TIME!

  25. I thoroughly enjoy your blog Alexis.

From the comment profile you created, "thoughts and opinions" are encouraged. It seems that is what goes on here. No one is forced to "attend".
