  1. Another lame promo.

  2. When does the honeymoon contest end anyway? It would be wonderful to hear that a fellow JCA has won the contest!

  3. It is nice JCrew keeps offering codes but they are amounts I cannot really use...if it was $100 for free shipping that I would actually use...

  4. xoxo,
I think these shuffle contests by JCrew are rigged and do not have winners. There was a previous post about this. Even if you do line up three it does not guarantee you a prize. It is still just a CHANCE to win.

  5. ^ That seems pretty crappy that lining up 3 is not a guaranteed win of something, but I am not surprised. They could have given away gift cards or promo coupons for those who line up 3. Oh well, I didn't even try it. I never win anything.

  6. Wonder why JC bothers w/ these codes, why not just have a reasonable flat ship rate, like Ann Taylor ($6), $175 is alot to have to spend to get free s/h.

  7. Their high shipping costs is to offset the $8/hr they probably pay those people to half-ass ship my boxes to me.

  8. The minimum for FS codes seems to be getting consistently higher. Used to be $100, then $150, now it seems many offers are coming with $175 minimum. I often max out on the shipping charge so would prefer % off, but I think others would like to buy less and have FS. It would be great if they could just offer FS for three days, no minimum. Or something like that.

  9. OT Has anyone seen the Merino Crosshatch cardi in real life? It looks like a fun cardi on the site, but I'm wondering about the crosshatch detail and if its cute or just busy.

  10. I know this is OT, but how do the Glenbrae Boots (the flat ones) run? I usually buy 8.5 in J.Crew flats, should I buy 8.5 or 9?

    Thanks!

  11. Anon @ 4:03, I too would rather a flat rate than spending $175 (that's a lot of money right now!) and get free shipping. BR/Gap/Old Navy has the right idea with the $7 flat rate.

  12. J.Crew's shipping policies have made my self-imposed shopping ban easy: I won't shop there again until either:

    a) there's some kind of a sensible flat-rat shipping AND not everything is on 'final sale'

    OR

    b) a promo code comes out that stacks both free shipping AND a percent off.

I say this not with hostility toward J.Crew, but as a matter of fact - the company's unwillingness to yield ground is pretty directly related to its current crises (excess inventory, staff cuts, etc.) How does the saying go? J.Crew, help us...to help you!

So far, this ban's worked for two months (and I'm a customer who has in the past *racked up* the rewards points on my J.Crew credit card). I highly recommend it, amigos.

  13. I am right there with all of you on the shipping costs. Insane! After my last trip to my local B&M I am on a shopping ban too. I am tired of the crazy sizes (most of my wardrobe is JCrew, so the bigger sizes are new) and the unpredictable quality. The cottons are not as nice as they used to be. Never mind the website.

I love Jcrew style but when half the tops and dresses make me feel like a little girl wearing her mommy's clothes I have to say enough is enough. Never mind the pants.

The promotions are just not pulling me in. A decent percentage off like 20% -30% AND free shipping would bring in the customers.

  14. jj-

I would go up 1/2 sizes. I take the brewsters (and most other jcrew shoes) in 6.5, but the glenbraes in 7. (I have the suede ones, if that matters.) HTH

  15. How do most Jcrew (tall) boots run? I am specifically interested in the Brewsters and a pair called "tall riding boots" on ebay.

I usually wear a 9, but have a widish foot. I am a 9 in the critter wellies, if that helps.

    Thanks!

  16. I doubt the contest is rigged for no winners. Not to say that it's not "rigged" in anyway. I think it's something like those claw machines with the stuffed animals, set to only naming a winner after a certain number of tries.

  17. hi jj,
i wear an 8 almost all the time but could not get my foot into the 8 flat glenbrae. i don't know how much more to go up since there were no larger sizes available when i tried it on. plus i couldn't tell if it was purely a width issue which might not be cured by a longer size.
    good luck,
    maggie

  18. WOW ~ hopefully JCrew reads this blog, bec. their shipping codes and final sales shizz is not working in this economic climate. I've been to the BM a couple of times in the past few months, and it is usually dead. Love what the poster said about JC refusing to yield ground. I think we too just need to hold the line and not buy until we get what we want (lower/free shipping, and no more final sale).

  19. I think the daily prize game is totally riggged. I have been entering it every day. About a week ago, the game stopped with three same boxes in a row lined up and then after a seecond or two it kept going until it wasn't lined up anymore! And this was not my internet connection. It made me laugh because it is just a passport cover but I would have been pretty angry if it was something much better.

I agree. I refuse to buy final sale and since items seem to be going directly to final sale--newer ones that is...well, I have not been buying. There are plenty of cute clothes and better deals than JCrew is offering right now. Stay strong! I am.
