J.Crew Offers Additional 20% Off Final Sale

"Thanks!" to many of you, including limegreen_lover (in this post) & Cass (in this post), who let us know about J.Crew's most recent promotion.

J.Crew is offering 20% off their final sale using promotion code EXTRA20. This offer expires 3/21/09.

Happy Shopping!

Are there any items you plan on getting with this promotion? If so, please share! :)

  1. NO, not planning on using this one. I don't buy final sale b/c I cannot try on first. The markdown needs to be greater or free shipping along with the 20% off for me to even take a chance. I am also trying to cut back on my JCrew shopping. I have been very disappointed in their not allowing coupons to be combined any more and also poor customer service and decling cashmere quality. The cashmere sweaters I have from this year that I bought at full price are so pilly and I take very good care of my clothes.

  2. I wonder if they will have the extra 20% off in the stores?

    ReplyDelete
  3. Does anyone have the Meringue-sleeve top (item 11526)? How does it fit? Are the sleeves tight? Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  4. Good point, FFM - if it was in stores as well I may be interested in a piece or two, otherwise I won't be partaking in this sale. None of the pieces in my cart have been reduced this time around.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I have a few final sale items in my cart. I don't know if I will utilize this promotion or not at the moment.
I am in love with the Cashmere V Neck sweater but I will not give JC my cash for something that will get knots and need shaving all the time. I love the Lea cardi so I know this style will get loads of wear.

  6. Jessica, I tried on the meringue-sleeve top in store and found the sleeves to be a bit big, and they stick out kind of horizontally (does this make *no* sense?). It's basically a Zoey tank with puffy cap sleeves. I'd say it was somewhat TTS, one could size down but it may be tight around the hips.

  7. I tried to get a price adjustment for this code on an order I placed yesterday and was told No. And the CS rep read me the fine details on this coupon code that is it not for prior purchases even if it was only the day before. I even spoke with a supervisor upon request and was told that JCrew is enforcing their policies. I told him that I know of other who have gotten a price adjustment and was told those CS reps must not be familiar with JCrew policy.

  8. I got a small cashmere shawl collar cardigan in bright fushia (New England summer nights can get cold, this color is a perfect summer pink) and a Maggie jacket in bright yellow in a size 8. I'm usually a 6 in jackets but thanks to everyone's past reviews of the Maggie, I figure I can wear it as a coat instead of a blazer if it's too big. I'm excited to get it, I don't own any yellow in my wardrobe and this looks YELLOW!

What do you think the odds of the Maggie shipping? I have received the last several sale shipments with no problems, I hope the good streak continues...

  9. Since when does J. Crew give you 60 minutes to cancel an order?

I placed an order and took the kids to school. When I came back I checked my order status and I still had 40 minutes to cancel the order. I was gone at least 20, so I am assuming that the total time was 60.

That is SO much nicer than 20. It gives you more time to think about it.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I *might* take advantage of this offer... although I think the Saturday Pants I am wanting are not on "final sale" just promo since they don't end in .99

    ReplyDelete
  11. I just noticed from the little red countdown on your order summary that they give you 60 minutes to cancel your order, I think it used to be 15 minutes?

    ReplyDelete
  12. I was 20 minutes to cancel your order in the past. That I know for sure.

It is great to hear now that you have 60 minutes. I can grab something before it flies out the door and then mull it over for almost an hour!

    ReplyDelete
  13. I might use it... I will wait and see what the restocks look like. Of course, I wish it were more or included free shipping, but it's nice to have a promo with no minimum :)

    ReplyDelete
  14. I liked the other promo last week as it was 20% off all merchandise but I didn't like the $175 limit.

It is nice to have 20% off final sale but JCrew seems to offer this one up very easily anymore...nice, but I don't like final sale very much with no returns and there is nothing I HAVE to HAVE:)

    ReplyDelete
  15. UGH! Last nite I conteplated placing my order (~ 480 after codes-- a couple sizes of dresses and shoes for a graduation party)-- and figured id wait to see what popped up @ restock this AM. well, NOTHING so far and the worst part::

*4* items in my cart are now 40-50$$ more each AND no longer on sale--- so a few hundred dollars loss!

    AHH JCREW stop playing games!!

    ReplyDelete
  16. I picked up the white high heel flares, a pair of flip flops and 2 tops for my daughter for $47. Made me happy. Does anyone know how the high heel flare denim runs? I'm about a 6 and ordered a 29..hope that works.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I don't know that I will place an order during this promo.

I just recieved an order from last week for 2 pairs of Cate heels and 1 pair is the wrong size. This is esp. irritating becasue my order before that had a defective item.

If I do order it will probably be for a Lea in melon or a couple of the soft tees on sale.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I have the Meringue sleeve top in pewter and ivory. I LOVE it. very work appropriate to layer under cardigans, suits, etc. Looks great with jeans. Sleeves are NOT tight (imagery: meringue), but I did size down because of the "flowy" shape. The only thing is it wrinkles really easily.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Monogramgirl: I wear an 8 & I have the HHF jeans in a 30- so the 29's should work for you! HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Was there even a update this morning? numbers still lingering in the 600's... :(
nothing there for me, unless they add new items

    ReplyDelete
  21. I was waiting until this AM to make sure prices weren't marked down more. To my surprise, all the crewcuts items I was going to buy are now no longer on sale. So much for using this promo!

    ReplyDelete
  22. I am seriously considering getting another tissue ruffle cardigan. I just got one in the slate color, am wearing it today and LOVE it. It is so comfy. At $19.99 -20%, that's a great deal!

    ReplyDelete
  23. monogram - agree with MMM, i think they will be perfect.

    i'm a 2 & take a 27 in them.

    ReplyDelete
  24. doesn't look like there was much of an update... ?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Appgal, can you tell me how the tissue ruffle cardigan fits...is it pretty much TTS? It's somewhat hard to tell from the pic...Thx!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Jessica-
I got the meringue sleeve top and I love it! I reviewed it on my blog http://sparklecupcake.blogspot.com if you want to see IRL pictures. I would recommend sizing down as it is very flowy in the midsection!

    ReplyDelete
  27. audball: i usually wear a small in most j.crew tops. when i first tried on the cardi in-store, all they had was a small and it was a little loose and ill-fitting on me. I took a gamble ordering the xs and it fits perfectly. however, since it's so thin (but not sheer), it's not the best to wear over any bulky or thicker shirt. right now i'm wearing it over a favorite tank, and it's perfect. HTH! :)

    ReplyDelete
  28. I was going to buy the white bootcut denims last week, when they were $78, but now they are $98! And silly me, I didn't look at the price because it was still in the "sale" category, and now I am stuck with the order. Grrrr. I have a 10% off coupon for in-store, so I might try to return them and then buy them back. Doesn't seem like its worth the effort...

    ReplyDelete
  29. emily,

What was your defective item? and/or defect?

Just wondering...I have had some problems too.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I got a couple of soft tees in white and pewter(24.50) and the tissue chiffon cradigan in white and pewter (49.50)plus the 20% off.
I like that these items are on sale but not that fricken "final sale" BS. I am way more inclined to buy more when it's not final sale. Like another said it's a smart move by J Crew not to put everything FS.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I would have gotten the white bootcut jeans, but they raised the price back up to $98 after it was $78.

I'll wait till it goes back down. I could get my teacher discount on the old price.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Julia,

I checked out your blog. Very nice:) I have to disagree with your denim shorts comment. I am nearing 40 and jean shorts (there are all kinds) will never go out of my wardrobe.

    ReplyDelete
  33. update just happened! but i will not be buying anything :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. I have had 8 items sitting in my online shopping cart waiting...just waiting for a promotion to come along. Now that it has, I am unsure if I will actually order anything. I am particularly in love with Fresco cardi and the overdyed mini skirt...oh the temptation!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Site updated; running super slow; it is going to crash in a minute...

    ReplyDelete
  36. Yes, I'm having the same experience! *Finally* it updates and it's sooooooooo slow :( c'mon c'mon !!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Well, JCrew just lost out on my order. Site won't load any pages--running slow and I must leave now for the day. JCrew's continued website problems are really going to bring them down in the long run. Glad I sold my stock a while back!

    ReplyDelete
  38. I just sent JCrew and email about their continued website issues being a constant problem and really making shopping with them a hassle and no longer much fun!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I am APALLED at the slowness of the site. Im going to write an email to Mickey & co tonight. This is disgusting and unacceptable, esp when it happens on a consistent basis during sales.

    ReplyDelete
  40. It's taken me 10 minutes, I've looked at 5 things in detail, then the website made my browser crash.

    Nice.

    ReplyDelete
  41. FYI, there are some oldies-but-goodies jewelry items on FS-- st tropez necklace, seahorse necklace, jeweled starburst ring. I know some JCAs have been looking for certain pieces. Good luck if you can get through the website issues today and place an order!

    ReplyDelete
  42. I am tempted, but no. I have my eye on one last sweater...but this promo isn't quite enough for me once I add on tax and duty and foreign exchange. Free shipping might swing me!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Stay tuned sign now up.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Ha! "Stay tuned..." is back! Seriously, JC? Seriously????

    ReplyDelete
  45. I would have like to at least look... but the site is down :(

    ReplyDelete
  46. Don't think i will be using this one, will see tomorrow if they have this in the bm. does anyone know if bm has addl?

    ReplyDelete
  47. I just grabbed the Liv metallic ballet flats for 39.99! I normally wouldn't but they actually had my size, 7.5! I hope I actually get them.

    ReplyDelete
  48. B&M did not have additional off yesterday, but they do get all the new product in Thursday/Friday, so maybe soon?

Aite is working fine now, but nothing I HAVE to have.

    ReplyDelete
  49. OT: Reese Witherspoon in what appears to be the silk hammered tank....I love her style! http://justjared.buzznet.com/gallery/photos.php?yr=2009&mon=03&evt=witherspoon-skin&pic=reese-witherspoon-skin-clinic-03.jpg

    ReplyDelete
  50. I saw a girl putting extra 30% off sale items signs in the store last night. This was in NY.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Uh oh, just got the dreaded 'stay tuned' sign on the site.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I am getting the stay tuned right now...site is NOT WORKING.

    JCrew, Your website suck rocks!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Anon 11:43, which store did you visit last night? I bought some stuff on sale last weekend that I'm planning to keep, I'm going to try and buy them again if they are now 30% off!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Madison Collection, but if you take it back to any store, they will price match the sales promo in other stores!

    ReplyDelete
  55. I called my local J Crew (Orland Square) and was told no additional discount on sale items -- it is online only. Wish this was not true!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Oh, that's unusual, they normally don't advertise sales... Thanks for letting us know

    ReplyDelete
  57. i'm thinking about buying some slippers (yes, i'm weird)...anyone have any recommendations on fit (getting a size 7 vs. 8)?

i wear a 7 in most shoes, 7.5 in heels, have never worn jcrew shoes.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I ordered the library shawl cardi, boyfriend chinos, and mandarin henley yesterday.
I saved more using a free ship code than I would have with 20%. Today the henleys are marked down, a little annoying but oh well.

I'm looking forward to wearing the tulip henley with the grey library cardi :)

    ReplyDelete
  59. Appgal: Thanks so much! I'm thinking of checking out my local b&m and seeing if they have more color choices available... I'm always between sizes so this may be one of those that's best to try first too. :)

    ReplyDelete
  60. Maybe they're just putting out the signs later today?

    ReplyDelete
  61. I just got another pair of the so-called 'mom jean' high heel flare. I just love them so much and with them marked down and available in a darker wash than I already have them in I couldn't resist. Also picked up another pair of yoga pants because their fit and quality cannot be beat and I wear on my yoga gear very, very hard.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Site worked a bit for about 10 minutes. Now it is down again and Stay Tuned is back up. I give up for today. I just don't know about JCrew anymore. I mean what kind of company continually lets this be their MO???? Not one I want to give my hard earned money to anymore. Can you tell? I have had enough. I just wanted to order a top!

    ReplyDelete
  63. littleone- JCrew slippers are great. I wear mine around the house all the time. I typically wear 7 in JC flats and 7.5 or 8 in their heels and I wear the size 8 slippers. I tried on the size 7s and there were definitely tight, so I might suggest sizing up, especially for something like slippers that you're just flip-floping around the house in. :)

    ReplyDelete
  64. Site is working ok for me, but there's nothing I want except the rimini gladiator flats, which are sold out (for now) in the brown shades in my size. Bummer. :(

    ReplyDelete
  65. Any success combining with student discount? I've never had issues b before but afraid to call. Student discount pretty much just covers shipping most of the time!

    ReplyDelete
  66. The site was giving me such a bother this morning! I ended up just calling J. Crew and placing the order. I was able to double-dip the EXTRA20 code and 15% off for students. I had a great sales rep, Jennifer.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I keep getting the "Stay Tuned" White Screen... :(

    ReplyDelete
  68. Thanks to everyone for their input on the white jeans size! :)

    ReplyDelete
  69. Littleone- I wholeheartedly agree on sizing up. I usually wear 8- 8 1/2 shoes and couldn't even get the 8s on, 9 was perfect. The cableknit with the pompoms are cute and cozy without being overly foot sweat inducing.

    ReplyDelete
  70. omg. can j.crew PLEASE get a better frakking server? i'm so frustrated right now that i want to give up and not purchase the items in my "bag."

    ReplyDelete
  71. michelle: i had to call in to a CS rep since the site was down. when I asked for the student discount he fumbled around and said that it couldn't be combined. even when i told him it had been done in the past (which it had, with no problem) he said no. it wasn't a big deal to me. my order was under $30 so it wasn't like i'd save a ton. it's worth a shot though to at least ask--good luck :)

    ReplyDelete
  72. Does anyone have the Rimini vachetta flat sandals (99713)? How do they fit? Thanks!!

    ReplyDelete
  73. SunnyinSoCal,
You had a sales rep that does not know JCrew's policy. It is not that he/she was a great one. You just got lucky. Good for you but wanted to let others know it was luck.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Off topic, but I just got an email saying one of the items I'd ordered during the BR/gap/on promo last weekend was cancelled, complete with an apology and an offer for 10% off my next order. Makes for a nice change from J.Crew's modus operandi, which, since summer, has been to leave out an item I've ordered, charge me for it anyway, and never offer to do anything more than take the charge off my cc when I've called in.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I have good luck sending an email to CS asking nicely for the student discount, after I place the order online. It has worked almost every time, they just credit my card at a later time for the discount amount.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I called the Walnut Creek store, and they said no addl % off sale stuff, boo. But, maybe when 'new rollout' happens, SA told me thurs/fri??

    ReplyDelete
  77. I dream of J Crew & anon - thanks so much for the info. I will definitely go for the 8! :)

    ReplyDelete
  78. Soon to be Phd,

The last 3 times I have emailed them in FEb. and March I was told not to my educator's discount. I was told that I got the free shipping or the discount and they would change my discount to the educator's one since it was higher in discount amount but would then charge me shipping.

I am assuming you only asked for the educator's/student discount and had paid for shipping.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Every time I order from J.Crew I get a different pitch from each sales person. Some will give you complimentary shipping, some will combine discounts, and some will not. It is so frustrating! I wish they would just have a policy and STICK TO IT. That way we would not all be gambling with our discounts every time we call up! Get it together! Oh, P.S. J.Crew needs to get its website issues under control ASAP...it is tragic and soooo annoying.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I just tried JCrew's website and got STAY TUNED!
    AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  81. Well, they didn't combine, which is a bummer because it would have saved me on shipping. I would buy a lot more if they had more reasonable shipping rates (like Gap/BR $7 flat).

I still bought the striped wellies (bright saffron), Caroline Square high-heel (avocado), and the Beatrice suede driving mocs (Pumpkin).

I have stopped buying clothes for the time being. Need to organize first.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Yes, you're right- when I get the student discount it's when I paid for shipping. But they have applied it on my last 3 orders with the extra percent off sale promotions. So, I have gotten the extra percent off sale plus the student discount, but NOT free shipping plus the student discount. Yeah, confusing!

    ReplyDelete
  83. Michelle- definitely call them to apply the student discount. It works every time, even with 20% off promotions! I just got the stay tuned page, but I placed my order last night for the School of Fish Tank. Thanks to anon who mentioned 30% of in NY stores, I will have to check it out!

    ReplyDelete
  84. Jessica: I tried on the Meringue sleeve top last week at my B&M and hated it. I really LOVE the sleeves and had planned on buying it but it has no shape and as cute at the sleeves are they looked really funky. Sorry I can't give a better discription then that but it was just bad. For reference I'l 5'6 and size 6/S/M.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Hi all, I remember a Canadian JCA last week mentioning that her 'final sale' returns (but not invoiced as FS) had, for the first time, been refunded to her in the form of a gift card. Today I noticed a bunch of my returns had been refunded to my credit card, but a bit had been returned as a gift card. Turns out the credit card I had used to purchase the items had since expired, so they had to issue a gift card. When I called, the nice CS rep had no trouble voiding the gift card and refunding the balance to my NEW card.

Just thought I'd throw that out there as information!

    (:

    ReplyDelete
  86. @limegreenlover - Calling CS to try to combine discounts (including student) most definitely does not work every time. I called three times last week about an order I placed with the extra 20% off, and not a single one would do it. I'm sincerely glad that it works for you, but it's not a sure thing, even if you call and ask nicely.

    ReplyDelete
  87. About the student discount - it's JCrew's policy to combine the student discount ONLY with "non-global" promotions (ie. extra20 or extra30), but NOT with "global" promotions (ie. 20% off of $175+, or free shipping for $150+). Global means the promo covers the entire purchase, and non-global means only certain items are on promo (ie. final sale items, or pants only etc.) The phone reps *should* know this, and if they don't, I usually quote an email that I got from JCrew when I inquired about it. If anyone wants me to forward this email to them, write me at chyleung@gmail.com.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Okay, so I called back, re-submitted the whole order and this CS Rep gave me the extra 15%. Quickly canceled the other order. :)

It was a savings of $20.5. When you take into account the $14.5 shipping, really only $6.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Has anyone tried on the SILK TAFFETA RUFFLE WRAP dress? Is it true to size and is it cute on? I am debating ordering it for a wedding. Also, what do you think the likely hood is that jcrew will offer 30% off their sale items after the 20% promotion is finished? hmmmm

    ReplyDelete
  90. Went to the Michigan Avenue store today -- no additional percentage off sale items.

    ReplyDelete
  91. I think the "stay tuned" message is some kind of ploy to make you keep coming back, and make you MORE DETERMINED to shop. HA! Forget it J Crew. Tired of your games. New rules for customer service, (i.e. less customer friendly); no standard shipping rate like other stores, or promos that INCLUDE % off and free shipping together!

    ReplyDelete
  92. I know they aren't on sale, but has anyone tried the cotton-cashmere ruffle cardigans? They look so cute, and they are online only, so I can't try them on in a store! Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  93. Here's my review of the cotton-cashmere s/s ruffle cardi: had high hopes but very disappointing. The fabric is very thin and does not hold any shape so it just clings to whatever you are wearing underneath. No closure adds to lack of shape/clingyness issue. Also I found the shoulders/sleeves to be oddly baggy, baggier than sleeves on other jcrew cardis I have in the same size.

Here's my request for a review--has anyone tried the ruffle painter-T henleys?

    ReplyDelete
  94. Re: Ruffle painter-t henley

Saw at store this afternoon. Totally adorable but didn't have time to try on. The SA said it is "to die for" cute on and they are selling fast. The store had a kelly green color that I don't remember seeing online.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Thanks Anons 4:29 and 4:37 - I have been quite curious about both those items. Bummer about the cardi - it looked so promising online!

    ReplyDelete
  96. OK, this is annoying ... I was looking at some sandals to purchase in the sale section and there were 8 left in my size, plus a lot left in all the other sizes. I go outside with my son for like thiry minutes and when I just checked, there are none left in ANY size ... what the hell?

    ReplyDelete
  97. audball:
I have three of those cardis ... love them! I got a small because the XS were too tight in the arms ... and I have tiny arms!! HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  98. Ruffle painter henley is crap, I bought one and it fell apart after 1 wash in cold water, no dryer. Other JCAs have commented on the quality also.

Dont believe the SA, they will tell you anything to get a sale.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Michelle, I'm with you on the not buying clothes. I've purchased and returned several things lately, browsed the catalog and two b&ms, and trolled the website and am just not feeling it. HOWEVER, I did something this week that I haven't done in almost ten years, and went on a shoe buying spree. It started the morning that a miracle pair of Ember spectator peep toe heels popped up and the crackle metallic Claudias went down another twenty bucks. There was an extra 20% off promo, so I was on it like white on rice! The next day I came across a pair of Dr. Marten mary janes for only forty bucks, in black, and I have a pair of brown ones I wear alot in the winter. My first pair of Docs I got almost thirteen years ago and they're still going strong, so they were a must purchase as well. Then, the Cordova shearling boots cropped up in my size (I think that's what they're called) and I used a gift card that was burning a hole in my wallet. I rounded off the spree with matching pairs of lilac Havianas for my daughter and myself- and somehow managed to stop myself from buying a new pair of MBTs on sale. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that everything fits well. The spectators and Claudias should arrive tomorrow, I can't wait!

    ReplyDelete
  100. I tried on the ruffle painter henley and didn't like it. Maybe it's b/c I have a bigger chest. It did nothing for me and gaped at the buttons. The sa said to fluff the ruffles, but that didn't help. I was disappointed as it had been in my cart for quite a while. The sa's also said it was selling well. HTH

    ReplyDelete
  101. Lindsey B.: Thanks for your input! Yeah, the arms are kind of a trouble spot for me, so I'm gonna try to see if I can find some at a b&m before ordering :). Thanks again...

    ReplyDelete
  102. I got chiffon tiny rosette racerback cami...it didn't even last a day. The chiffon was shedding like crazy in the first couple hour, and by noon the ones near the arms(I wore w/ a cardi) were gone already. It's a final sale item, but I'm taking it back...They should know if they took photos of models wearing them...Is it just mine? or anybody had a similar problems?

    ReplyDelete
  103. Well, I would have LOVED to use the coupon today, but YET AGAIN the system crashed as I was placing my order. When they were finally back online, my much sought red Clea turtle tank (among other items) was gone.

I am beyond frustrated. At this point, I feel like they are doing some twisted experiment to see how far they can push customers and still have them come back. This has happened to me at least 3 times now. Grrrrrrr!!!

    ReplyDelete
  104. Oh, and the best deal on shoes that I forgot was during last week's give and get at the babyGap. A pair of stunningly cute sparkly red mary janes for my daughter- the final price was less than six bucks! I'd wanted to get them for her since they came out, waited and waited for them to go on sale and ended up missing them until this weekend. They're too big for now, but they'll rock when they do fit. On that note, does anyone have any comments on crewcuts shoes? The clothes are wicked cute and can be reasonable with DEEP, DEEP discounts. TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  105. There's no 30% off sale in NYC B&M - at least not the one at Rock Center today.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Connie,
I have a similar email from a JCrew CS/employee about the discounts. However, after using the email to get the discounts as explained. One day, out of the blue after several months I was told the email was invalid/incorrect and that I would no longer be getting the discount since I had gotten the educator one with extra% final sale too many times incorrectly. It was outrageous and strange and I don't get all the strange ever changing rules. So watch out if you need to use this email as who knows????

  107. charlie horse - I'm the Canadian that posted about the refund going to a gift card and not my credit card. None of my cc's have expired so that wasn't the reason for it but thanks for the info, something to watch out for in the future.

I think it may be that the items that come up on the order with the red "this item is final sale and cannot be returned" are considered final whether they are marked on the receipt or plastic or not. They were never marked as "final sale" on the receipt and there were not "final sale items cannot be returned" stickers on the plastic. Some of them definitely had that red type on the checkout though. :/

I really didn't mind getting gift cards in exchange. At least I truly get the amount of the item refunded instead of the rate used by the cc companies. The CDN$ is not good compared to the US$ right now and it is blipping around a bit, but usually around 79c US on a good day. The cc companies give you their own rate, which is slightly less favorable to the cardholder than the actual exchange rate.

  108. Anon 5:49, I bought the Cordova shearling boots and returned them. They are fully lined in shearling, except the toe, which is where the shearling should be IMO. I found them quite floppy and unflattering. I must say though, Slastena reviewed them on her blog with IRL photos and she was happy with them so maybe it's me. ;-)

One of my co-workers bought two pairs of MBT shoes and said it was a huge waste of money - they are expensive! The shoes are supposed to help you stay fit but she has felt "less fit" since buying them and said she would have been better off buying a nice pair of heels. If you're not already a fan, might want to check out some reviews before spending the $$$

  109. I used this to pick up a couple of items after the refresh. Wellies and a suit jacket. Nothing exciting but the 20% is a nice addition to the already discounted price. Maybe I should say, a nice subtraction.

    ReplyDelete
  110. I only bought one item from the final sale, the Chino 3" short in bright rubharb. I remember someone mentioning here before that you can have J.Crew call through a new feature that shows up after your order goes through. I wanted to try it and see if I can get my student discount on top of the 20% off, and it worked! They will do an adjustment of the price (since this happened after I already paid), and will just reimburse me the difference. What a pleasant experience with J.Crew CS!

  111. OT my boyfriend military jacket in pale surplus arrived today. I love this jacket. The cotton is soft, like the buttery twill, but more substantial. It is not super fitted, but that is better for layering. The shape is basic and slightly tailored, I have a waist. I will be wearing this right away with an oversized scarf and layers beneath, then later in spring with just a tee or tank. If you want to try this one ladies, better check it out soon as it is already on backorder and sold out in several B&Ms that I checked. And no, I'm not an SA. Just one happy customer with the jacket. :D

What happen to your Ruffle painter henley ? I am thinking of getting one and your feedback got me a little worried.. TIA.

    ReplyDelete
  114. I ended up getting another tissue ruffle cardi (in natural) and a painter v-neck (couldn't beat $4.99!!!) Both really good pieces...I've fallen in love with the painter tees and the tissue cardi is amazing. Can't beat the price.

Speaking of the painter tee, I've also had the painter ruffle henley in my cart for a while now. I hate to hear that it's not doing it for some...does anyone else have it and like it?

    ReplyDelete
  115. I just bought two of the ruffle henleys from another JCA's I let you know when I receive them.

Also, did anyone purchase the Patent Cate Slingbacks? In J Crew shoes I Always wear an 8 or 7.5 & I've never ordered an 8.5, however I ordered these in an 8 & I think they're to small. Did anyone have to size up? My heal is at the very end of the heal of the shoe & lots of toe cleavage. Is this the way they're supposed to look?

Tomorrow I'm going to the store to try an 8.5 in person. It's a real inconvenience because they were $99 on final sale. Hopefully I'll be able to exchange them (2 pairs)

    ReplyDelete
  116. Does anyone have the silk taffeta mini in celery root? what does the color look like IRL? I was at the store today and saw the metallic one in gold, which looked nothing like what is shown online. TIA!

  117. I just went to the JCrew on N. Michigan Ave in Chicago and they didn't have any additional percentages off of sale items. Which isn't to say I didn't buy anything...

I tried on the Meringue shirt and liked it a lot. The sleeves looked good on me b/c I have narrow shoulders. I, also, sized down. It's a tad tight around the hips.

  118. Anony 7:22 - I also have the military bf jacket and like it quite a bit. I like the casual style and it's really comfortable.

  119. Does anyone own the Frenchie slicker? I've read a few reviews that passed on it, but I would like to think I could pull it off. Would like to know if anyone else is rockin it.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Frenchie slicker is like paper, and the collar doesn't look like it does in the catalogue. The belt also hits very high on the torso. Buttons were too big too : ( I really wanted to like it.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Anon 6:50, thanks for the heads up about the Cordovas. I live in snowy Michigan, so shoe warmth is definitely an issue. Also thanks for reminding me who had the review, and thanks to Slastena for that review. I had a picture in my mind of them looking super cute on and that's why I jumped at buying them. As for the MBTs, yes, they are PRICY. I bought my first pair a bit over a year ago from Blissworld website, that has a very good return policy, plenty of promos, and a customer review feature. I was skeptical at the claims and I am by no means a hardcore fitness junkie, but my interest had been piqued and a nice looking pair was a hundred bucks off. About the only pair of sneakers I've ever owned has been Chuck Taylors so I totally needed a real sneaker. I have to say, the claims are somewhat inflated, my backside has NOT magically lifted, but I do see alot more tone in my calfs. I only wear them for one half to one hour, three to five times a week for power walking, carrying my two year old daughter in a carrier. The MBTs are really comfortable once you get used to them, but the full price on those suckers will never be comfortable! the only plus to buying such an expensive workout shoe is I feel I have to go the the rec center more often to get my money's worth out of them.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Are the new releases coming to the B&M this weekend, or next weekend?

    TIA

    ReplyDelete
  123. Thanks anon 9:39. I guess I can want to like Frenchie, but it doesn't sound like a great piece. Wonder why it's not on sale yet. Operative word being YET.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Anony 9:46 I don't buy the MBT claims. Balancing on your toes is somewhat like wearing high heels. It does work your calves a bit, but won't do anything for your butt, hips, stomach, etc. And there is nothing in the shoe to justify the inflated price. Just another scam. :P

    ReplyDelete
  125. Anon 7:22pm I really love the boyfriend miltary jacket. I just found a Gap version circa 2002 in a darker green khaki. I tried it on with JCrew thin metallic belt and shorts. I was so happy and now I can save a little money. I am sure your jacket will get softer and prettier as it is washed and worn. I think its a great jacket. Maybe I'll break down and get the color you pick out if its not too late. Congrats on a great fit!

  126. Goldcoastgal another blogger ordered two or three pairs of the slingback. She said they run kind of small in the toe box area. They are really pretty shoes. What color did you choose?

Just got an order in today. I snagged two pairs of the Lulu peep toes the other day that popped up in FS. Got the order and one pair was missing... grrr. Seriously- how can a PAIR OF SHOES be left out of the box?? Quality control, JCrew!

A lot of people seem to dislike the J.Crew military jacket because it is not really fitted. For those of us who don't mind a slightly slouchy look, it's fine. Maybe it will go on sale now that J.Crew has more on backorder, or there may be some on the weekly exchange.

Granted, it's not for everyone, but I loved it from the first moment I put it on. :))

  132. Have you had a price adjustment on sale items with J. Crew? I just called for a price adjustment for an item on sale 10 days ago. J. Crew declined to do the price adjustment saying that it is the policy no price adjustment for sale items. In December, I bought 3 items on sale but a few days later, there were further reduction. I was at a B&M store and the SA asked me to call using the red phone. I was promptly given the further price adjustment without any questions asked. Why the inconsistency?

  135. OT and not on sale, but I picked up the cutest gingham check Ursula crops at Club Monaco today. I don't usually buy capris but these were just adorable and I will likely roll them up to work with my body type. They also have white w/pinstripes and other colors too. Very nice, cotton + spandex, stylish.

They also had "high rise waist" pants, which the SA said were just slightly higher than the Ursulas but I didn't even go there. Please, no MOM jeans! Don't bring that sh*t back! Wah!

  136. Anon @10:22. It is absolutely policy not to adjust for further markdowns. As a matter of fact, the person at Christmas was probably a seasonal hire who did not know, or they lifted the ban because they were so anxious to clear merch then. You were very lucky. I know that BR, AT nor Talbots will adjust for additional markdowns either. Very common in the industry to adjust for 1st markdowns but not after.

    ReplyDelete
  137. AppGal- that is frustrating that you couldn't combine the two discounts. It doesn't bother me that I would save like $4- it is the fact that JC is SO inconsistent. I would persist in the future though, because I do Customer Service and I give in quite easily :)

  140. Anon 9:56, I'm the MBT wearer who posted earlier, you are right to be skeptical about the claims. They certainly aren't a miracle device! They absolutely do work your muscles in a different way than other shoes, though. The shoe balances more in the middle of the foot, like there is a slight U-shape to the sole, so you have to be much more aware of your balance. It isn't like walking on your toes, although that is a big balancing act for me like with heels! They seem to be nice quality and have held up really well after over a year of consistent wear. In all, I am glad I got them at the reduced price and would never pay full price for them (or pretty much anything else for that matter.)

  141. Hi guys --
OT but at my B&M in Austin, TX, swimwear was 20% off, able to be combined w/ student discount. I found a medium watercolor-stripe hipster w/ side ties in navy, which is sold out online! I saved 30 bucks on the halter+bottom set!

    ReplyDelete
  142. GoldCoastGal - I tried the cate high heel patent slingbacks in 8 and they fit well. I usually wear 7.5. I think sizing up half a size is good. Can't recall about toe cleavage but your foot shouldn't be hanging out the back.

    ReplyDelete
  143. I'm not planning on taking advantage of this one. All the things I *really* want are either not on sale or not available in my size.

Speaking of promos...not sure if anyone shops at Talbots, but they are offering 20% off everything (no code needed, you can get the details on their homepage), plus I found a code for 20% off and free shipping (that code is 022176662). I was able to use both promos together. I just ordered quite a few cute things and saved over $100! :)

I originally ordered the Soft shell pink, however when I received the email letting me know they were shipped I noticed they were Stone. I immediately called to mention their mistake & the CS convinced me to place another order (I ordered the Soft shell again.)

I received the Stone yesterday...(my heel isn't sticking out of the shoe, but it's at the end)

Now I have two (well one pair hasn't arrived yet) at final sale for $99. I'm going to try 8.5 in person today to see if I should keep the 8's or hopefully they'll let me exchange them.

  148. I've been stalking the Cotton-linen ottoman Aubrey jacket, size 4, in "natural", for probably 6 weeks or so and *hopefully* just picked one up for $39.99 ($50 w/tax and shipping). We'll see if it actually ships... I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!!!!!!

I'm also eyeing the meringue-sleeve tops-- but am concerned about fit so am waiting until Sunday, when I'll hopefully have a chance to try one on at the DC-area JCA private shopping and brunch extravaganza! :)

  151. Why hasn't the golden roses skirt gotten any cheaper than $120? Even with 20% off, adding the shipping and tax make the skirt back up to $116. I like it, but that still seems like a lot of dinero...decisions decisions...

  152. If anyone is looking for the ruffle tissue cardigan in dusty rose (sold out online), there are a few at the Portland Washington Square Mall b&m. 2 XLs, 1 L (though it has a pinhole sized hole in the sleeve), and quite a few XS - possibly a S in there too. Lots of the metallic-trim tiki button downs (which fit better than the garment dyed perfect shirts on me - strange) for $19.99, like on the website. Number is:(503)624-6386 We have no sales tax in OR, but I'm not sure if you are in a state that has tax if you get charged that when the store sends it.

I know why the pewter and the dusty rose ruffle tissue cardi sold out - the dusty rose is gorgeous and I imagine the pewter is a great spring compliment to camis...

  153. Did anyone purchase the Fresco print bandeau bikini? The description says the top is padded but the bikini top does not come up under the "padded" section under swim. Sure hope the description is correct because I need it! Anyway, most of the items were not marked "final sale" on the email I received so I guess I can return it if it doesn't match the description.

  154. Hello Ladies,

    RE: Patent Cate Slingbacks

I just came from JCrew here's what happened I ordered the size 8 online (I usually wear a 7.5 or 8) & I thought I needed to size up to an 8.5

I tried the 8.5 in the store & they fit pretty much the same as the 8 there wasn't much of a difference except for the strap in the heel was really loose. I decided to keep the 8's in both the stone & shell pink. And after reading Champagne & Cupcakes review & seeing the shoes on her & that's the way they look on my feet... I realized the 8's are a keeper.

I apolize for all the confusion on these shoes. I'm just glad it's over ;)

  155. Perfect Patent's? How did I miss those? Congratulations! That's exactly the color I would choose.

    ReplyDelete
  156. Anony @ 5:03, you can purchase pads to place in your swim top if you want some extra lift/padding. There are foam ones available that won't retain water if they get wet, which is what is used in swimsuit tops. Try a lingerie or swimsuit store, or search online. It may be your best bet because you can transfer them to whichever suit you wear.

  157. i called for a price adjustment with the EXTRA20 code bc i made a purchase 3 days before the code was out. The first CS rep said she couldn't apply the code because it had expired in FEBRUARY! but she said if I call back after her system updated, she could adjust it because it was within 7 business days. The second CS rep I talked to a day later pulled up my order and said the first CS rep got the code to work eventually but didn't contact me to let me know.
