J.Crew Email: Up to 30% off shoes (free shipping, too)

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Toast & Beth (in this post), as well as Kim, who let us know about J.Crew's latest promotion.

They are offering up to 30% select styles of women's shoes AND men's shoes, both online (click here for women, click here for men) and in their B&M stores. Although this is a limited time offer, it's not clear when it exactly expires.

J.Crew is also offering free shipping on orders of $100+ with promo code SPRING09 -and- on orders of $150+ with promo code SPRING. These offers expire tomorrow, 3/5/09. {Yey for the lower-minimum-free-shipping codes!}

Happy {almost Spring} Shopping! :)

  1. Yes, a $100 free ship code is much better than the other ones they have been offering.

Notice it is only UP TO 30% off though.....

  2. I tried on a few styles in store this weekend. For anyone interested, the Coralie suede heels run small; a half size bigger than my normal size fit. Belinda heels run TTS. I am a solid 8, unless it is a slingback or d'orsay, then I sometimes need a 7 1/2.

  3. Anyone have sizing recommendations for the Joley flats? Entertaining the idea of trying out the silver ones...

  4. I purchased the palermo patent sandals today in wild rose and took a chance that they will fit. I find that all all J Crew shoes run small and I usually need a half size up. So you may see these on the exchange if I cannot squeeze my canoe size feet into them:)

  5. Yes, please comments on Joley flats? They are so adorable but concerned about sizing.

  6. I'm sorry to say that the Palermos do run small in the straps near the toes. That said, I hope they fit you (they are absolutely gorgeous in the metallic, IMO) and that this info. is helpful to others.

  7. Up to 30%? I doubt if I will be using that code unless its a solid 30% off. I do have a cart full of clothing I need to purchase by Friday.

  8. Why is it that the email I received says free ship with $150? And I'm a cardmember! Good thing I know about this site!

  9. I would also love to hear about the sizing of the Joley flats. I am sad that just the metallic ones are on sale, though. :(

  10. I tried on the Joley flats yesterday and they are actually not bad, comfort-wise, and definitely very cute. I'm a 9, though I've started buying 9.5s sometimes to put inserts in or just cause the 9s are sold out, and I haven't noticed much difference size-wise (maybe I am between sizes, I don't know), but the 9s in the Joleys definitely fit, and a 9.5 would be too big. I think the peeptoe makes them roomier, generally. So I would say buy your regular size.

  11. Thanks, Alee! :)

  12. Has anyone tried the Deauville patent peep-toe flats, or have any thoughts? Appropriate for work? with pants or with skirts? What do you think of the seashell color versus black with a basic black pantsuit in the spring? Thanks!

  13. Anon 2:33- where do you work?

    ReplyDelete
  14. anon @2:33,

hmm, depends on the workplace. Sometimes even in more casual workplaces, open toe shoes or sandals are not permitted, often because it could be a safety/health issue, even if the most 'dangerous' equipment in your office is a paper cutter. :)

  15. Becca: I work in finance, pretty conservative, but I do throw in peep-toes sometimes as it's not forbidden... I'm not sure how I feel about the peep-toe and slingback combined in a flat- I think they'd probably look good with pants, not sure about exposing the whole shoe with a skirt... Thanks in advance for any thoughts!

  16. anon 2:33/2:48,

I always wear tights with my peep-toes, so I feel more 'covered' for the office. :) Never tried a peep-toe + slingback combo at work, b/c tights would probably look a bit odd with that kind of shoe... a little too much tights-on-foot exposure, probably?

  17. I will be taking advantage of the SPRING09 code, but won't be buying any shoes. The Meringue top is now $49.99, woohoo! Will get that in Light Pewter (tried it on IRL and it was more like a light blue IMO) and a cardi or two, until the total is above $100. ;-)

Thanks for posting the codes, Alexis!

  18. I just experience my very first in all the years I've been ordering.
I ordered the Crackle Mary Janes in Pewter in size 8 and I just noticed they were cancelled on my order :( Hmm

If anyone has a pair they'd like to part with I'll buy them from you.

  19. ^ It happens a lot with FS. You can keep stalking the website and try again for the shoes. The refresh happens most mornings where new merch is added.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Thanks for the info about the Joley flats as those are the shoes I am interested in as well. Unfortunately, I just did a mock check out and found them to be 0% off. I'll wait.

  21. Wow, a promo that expires the next day? J.Crew, we want MORE promos, not LESS!!

tastymoog, your 12:43 post is confusing. You mention the Coralie suede heels run small; a half size bigger than my normal size fit. Do they fit smaller or bigger??

    ReplyDelete
  22. Aren't the shoes in the promo already discounted online? I thought the code was just for free shipping and not a chance on a discount for shoes.

    ReplyDelete
  23. J.Crew lowers the shipping threshold to $100, and what do I do? Spend $127 immediately. Wouldn't have made the purchase otherwise. Thanks, J.Crew.

Oh, and I haven't purchased on-line in about 2 months and the check-out process seems different - way better! I know people, often legitimately, rag on the site, but this is one area, IMO, that is an improvement (gotta give credit where due!)

    ReplyDelete
  24. Thanks anon 3:35 I'll try tomorrow morning to see if they come back. After all the Lulu's came back last week.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Did anyone order shoes with the promo yet? I would like to know if the price is the one marked in red (including the 30% off) or if the % off is applied at checkout. I just purchased a pair of patent Cate slingbacks in store and they were cheaper than the red price on the website (I actually paid $126, the ticket says $168 -25% off shoes)... They also said that the promo applied to ALL the shoes...

    ReplyDelete
  26. OT: WAY OFF TOPIC: Chloe (of the Chloe Conspiracy blog) I have found something of our dreams! A Daniel Craig Teatowel. www.emmabridgewater.co.uk

I would post on your blog but you took away the anonymous feature...

Please let me know what you think:)

    A.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Ema - That's interesting! Your store said the 30% off applied to ALL the shoes? I'll have to try the Joleys in store then, because I was under the impression that the shoes with the 30% discount were only the ones with the red marked prices.

Yippee if the discount applies to all the shoes in store so I can get my patent Joleys in stone! :)

  28. I blame the hog who scored the 30 pairs of shoes for the lack of shoe promos for men.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I'm with Jeff. Where are the deals and promos for guys? Do they think we're all like Fred Flinstone and go barefoot?

I have ordered the Sperry boots, but they won't ship until the end of March.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Yes, but it's 25% and not 30%. Go figure ;-).

    ReplyDelete
  31. No shoes from J.Crew for me today. However, I have been able to purchase several pair in the past couple of weeks from JCA's who found them at TJ Maxx. THANK YOU ladies for the great deals, fast shipping, and fabulous shoes...you ROCK!!!

    ReplyDelete
  32. After seeing JCrew dump its shoes at TJMaxx, I am not buying their shoes for awhile. I'm not willing to pay more than $30-40 for their shoes, given that they will probably show up for $19.99 at a store close to us in the near future.

    ReplyDelete
  33. If you go to the SHOES page and click on the asterisk view promotion details, it says:

Prices as marked on select items. Limited-time offer and subject to change. This offer is not valid at J.Crew factory stores. Previous purchases are not eligible for this discount.

WYSIWYG. There is no extra % off at the checkout.

    ReplyDelete
  34. No thanks! I'll pass on the "Made in Italy" (wink) shoes with man made soles and uncomfortable, sweaty man made lining that they sell for a laughable amount. Call me when you return to quality shoes.

    ReplyDelete
  35. ITA about the quality on their shoes - the styles are so cute, but the quality is in no way worth full price. I was lucky enough to snag a pair of the light eucalyptus Coralie heels when they randomly popped into the sale section a few weeks back, but upon receiving and inspecting them, there was a funny looking squiggly-lined 'border' and some gluey residue on the outside of the shoe that looks like where the edges of the suede were wrapped around and glued together. Needless to say, they're going back - such a disappointment, but even more disappointing is that I'm not surprised.

Those looking at the Joley flats - Cole Haan has some similar looking flats (Nike Air Elly OT Ballet) that are all leather, and have Nike Air cushioning. They're about $109, and also an additional30% off, bringing them to about $77 total.

    ReplyDelete
  36. This is really OT, but in my last order I was able to order the Carrie belt (the skinny patent one) in dark peony. I'd NEVER seen this color before on the website or in-store...has anyone else? It came today and is really cute, but wondering if it was a sample or something.

    ReplyDelete
  37. The Samantha suede flats look cute. I love the juniper color. When I zoom in on the left one it looks like the stitching missed the fabric on the left shoe, inner ankle. The sole looks a little scuffed as well but that is likely due to handling for the shoot. Or am I justifying here?

I think I will pass on JC shoes this season. Sounds like Cole Haan has some quality shoes for good prices. Thanks for the info!

    ReplyDelete
  38. The Georgi's are so cute but I cannot part with $250 for plastic-soled and lined shoes. :(

The Jacquelines have a leather lining and sole. For 398 bucks!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Please note that J.Crew has apparently cut production costs this season by skimping on many of the shoes, including the extremely cute Cate slingbacks and Coralie suede pumps, which have manmade soles and linigs, NOT leather. I expect better than that, J. Crew!
Seriously, what would Michelle Obama think?

I have already sent a complaint to customer service. If I wanted to buy Banana Republic quality shoes, then I would shop at Banana Republic (and pay Banana Republic prices).

  40. Ssince this is a post about shoes, can anyone give me a review on the Avignon Patterned Peep Toes.

I'm thinking those would be such an adorable spring shoe...with some white skinnies and tank top or some bermuda's and a tank top...

    ReplyDelete
  41. I ordered the Avingnon awhile back and found them to be too big. I would imagine that the patterned ones run in a similar fashion, so size down.

    ReplyDelete
  42. From my experiece JCrew shoes run sort of large. Their 10's swallow my long narrow foot. I can wear 10 in load of other makers. Even with an insert their 10's are too big. I tried sizing up from a 9-9h and that was a definite no no with JCrew!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Does anyone know how the Mackenzie heals run? I normally take an 8 in sandals, and I'm wondering if I should get an 8.5.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Anony 7:39 thanks for the heads up on the samantha flats. I was considering them. Sort of. But I've been on the fence due to the quality of workmanship and materials of J.Crew shoes lately. This clinches it for me, I will not be buying their shoes this season. Much better quality to be had elsewhere and quality is the most important factor for me when it comes to shoes.

  45. Club Monaco is fine, but the menswear is very Chuck Bass-ish. Same with Tommy Hilfiger. Nothing wrong with that look but you have to be the right kind of dude to pull it off. Brooding, rich and callous. Or something. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  46. Ok, sorry for what seems to be a really dumb question, but what is so good about leather soles and linings -- what's the advantage over man-made? I'm not sure I even know which of my shoes have which, what's the difference? Thanks in advance!!!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Leather soles don't burn the bottom of my feet but they sure wear down faster.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Yeah, I can't tell the difference between leather soles or not, but I still think the prices are too damn high!!!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Hi, Just had a great transaction with KatyO!

Thought I should pay it forward. Considering it will cost me two taxi rides to get to & from JCrew or Return shipping charges... I've deducted the cost from the shoes below:

Lulu's size 7.5 in Honey Glaze $110- free shipping NEW WITH BOX
Will trade for Burnt Sienna or Metallic 7.5 or 8.

Crackle Mary Janes Size 8 in Metallic Sherbert $110 - free shipping NEW WITH BOX
Will trade for Pewter Size 8

Please email me at anitasharborpoint at yahoo dot com

  50. The difference between leather and synthetic soles and lining is that leather breathes and is more comfortable. Leather will form to your foot and has more flexibility. Plastic is a rigid shell, even if it is flexible you won't wear your footprint into it.

Leather will also hold up better over time, although you need to cover the soles with a rubber sole-saver to ensure it is not damaged by water and concrete. A good cobbler can do this and also replace the lifts when worn.

Leather is more expensive, which is why JCA's complain about the cost of J.Crew's shoes with plastic lining and sole. They are priced in line with some all-leather shoes, but they are not all-leather.

  51. Hello,
I purchased some J.Crew wellies about a year ago, and the top of the shoe tore so that they're unusable. Do you think it's fair to try to return them as defective? Or it is reasonable to get ~20 wears out of $60 rain boots?

    Thanks!

  52. Did anyone buy the Spectator Belinda heels? I'm thinking of buy at least one pair. Do they run true to size? Also, Did anyone purchase the orange?

    ReplyDelete
  53. oh by the way the Spectator Belindas are 25% not 30%(guess that's where the up to 30% comes in)

    ReplyDelete
  54. The Belindas are really cute, but run narrow and small. If you have wide feet, these may be a pass, but with average or narrow feet, you may just want to size up one size. They're ADORABLE though!
