Crewcuts Email: New Spring Arrivals... For Everyday Play {& J.Crew Card Offer}

Crewcuts sent an email announcing their new arrivlas. More interesting is they announced that Crewcuts is now offering up to size 12 (both online in select stores).

Does this {fabulous} news mean that some Aficionadas, with smaller frames, will be able to fit into Crewcuts items? :) I am all for doing it, if I could. ;) There are lots of items only being offered from Crewcuts, that I would love to get in "my size".

Happy {weekend} shopping!

  1. LOVE that dress on the email, but my daughter does not get $125 dresses. Thank goodness it's not in blue or she would BEG for it.

  2. I wish they would go a little bigger. I have definitely bought size XL tops at Gap Kids. Even a couple pairs of flats.

The first time I did this, I was holding a ladies cotton cardigan in my hand when I wandered into the kids section. They had the exact same sweater there for half the price. It didn't take me long to decide which one to get.

  3. While the bigger sizes may make it so that skinny women can fit into crewcuts, I don't think the proportions are the same. I wish some of the clothes came in my size too, but getting the biggest size of crewcuts isn't the answer. Kids proportions are different than women's proportions. That's why they have such a thing as a difference between junior sizing and misses sizing.

  4. I've bought many, many things from Gap Kids, Old Navy kids department, heck, even Target kids department and saved a TON of money that way. For some things (pajama bottoms, hats, etc.), I think it is a great way to save some money and the sizing doesn't matter at all. For other things, I think sizing makes a good point, the proportions ARE different. I have found that tops are quite a bit shorter proportionally to the same size top in misses. Anything tailored, probably won't fit as well. For good reason, the designers don't seem to worry as much about a slimming fit with kids. And yet, some of the Crewcuts things are SO cute and the colors are SO great, that if I can get away with it I'm sure going to try :) Thanks for the update Alexis!

  5. I love that crewcuts is going bigger...so my two kids can wear the brand longer... :)

I am way too big (both height and weight) to wear crewcuts size 12, but it IS nice to know some of you smaller ladies out there will be able to wear this size!

I rarely buy crewcuts...and never at full price. I think once my kids get to be about five, I may consider buying their pieces more often, but right now, my kids are growing way to fast to justify anything outside of a couple of pieces (and only then on some sort of super-sale).

BTW, the quality of crewcuts is AMAZING. I think it may be better than regular J. Crew.

  6. I have purchased the boys footwear a couple of times, depending on the style as some are more forgiving if you're a teensy bit too big. Maybe they will add another size to the footwear, which would be great.

  7. The beginning prices are outrageous! I only buy crewcuts on deep discount. My daughter does where mainly Crewcuts but out of season/year. I buy a size or two bigger for the following season/year.

  8. Girls' clothes reflect the fact that girls' bodies aren't developed yet, so I'm sure pencil-shaped women could get away with dipping into the kiddies' pool of clothes. Some of the crewcuts stuff is to die for - loved the coco jacket that was just out this fall. But it definitely wasn't cut for a woman's body.

  9. Speaking of sizing... is anyone else wondering why they made the Lattice Cami, of all things, in tall??? I wear tall sizes and I have a regular lattice cami and, like all of JCrew's other silk tops, it fits just fine. Maybe they should worry about making sweaters with sleeves that are long enough, (check out item 99792, which supposedly has "long sleeves" which are barely 3/4 on the tall model) than making talls in an item that really does not need such a size. Sorry. This just doesn't make sense to me.

  16. i loooooove the crewcuts stuff and am (fake-)angered by the fact that I'm juuuust slightly too big for their clothing, because some of it is really, really adorable! I agree that they are a bit on the pricey side, though. Didn't they lower the price points of some of their items? I could have sworn one of their recent catalogs alluded to it.

  17. Size 12 for crewcuts is great but that's only one size bigger than the current largest they carry, size 10. My son outgrew that size last year. I wish their size would go to 14 like most children's brands as I'd love to keep him in their clothes for longer (bought at sale price, that is!)

  18. I'm very excited about this! Finally an advantage to having such a stringbean body! I wish they offered more than they currently do in the size though...

  19. Crewcuts definitely are made better. The ringspun cotton is so much nicer than the adult version. I actually called CS to ask if they were making any women's tops in the same fabric as the Chelsea tee. They said no. They told me they make the crewcuts in more durable fabrics and the women's in a more delicate version. The Chelsea tee is so soft and the fabric is fabulous. I am jealous of my daughter who gets to wear the super soft ringspun.

  20. IF you can fit into crewcuts, what size do you take & what do you wear in women's jcrew? i'd like to give it a try, as i have a very small frame.

  21. My daughter who just turned 7 last week wears Crewcuts sz 8, 10 now. 10 tops are a little big on her but she can wear them and they look ok. I sometimes buy XXL from gap, old navy, but the chest area is made for really flat chest. I'm 36A(more like AA after breastfeeding two), 5'3" and sz small. I don't think I can wear crewcuts 12. sz 10 tops look small enough, and 12 won't be much bigger than that.

  22. continued..anyway,even with my flat chest those XXL tops from gap and old navy don't fit comfortably. Mainly the armholes are not cut as big as womens...blame my thick upper arms...and the bottoms are not made for curves. I know for sure I'll have to stick with my grownup J crew sz small.
