J.Crew Final Sale Online: 20% Off {yey!}

"Thanks!" to Lesley, Danielle, Smagsy, Magnolia (in this post), Cass (in this post), Heather:D (in this post), as well as Blumre and Shannon (in this post), who let us know that J.Crew is offering 20% off their final sale items online with promo code EXTRA20. This offer expires 9/28/08.

I guess the "final sale" and needing to use a code for the "additional percent off" is now a permanent feature at JCrew.com. Oh well! ;)

Are there any items you are planning to get now with the additional 20% off? Will you use this code or a free shipping code instead? Will you go to a brick and mortar (B&M) store instead (since they're offering 40% off their final sale?) :)

  1. I ordered the Bella and the pants that J.Crew didn't send me in my order earlier this week, so I'm going to take this final sale as a blessing because I got them cheaper this time around than I did last weekend. Hopefully the items will be correct when my order arrives!

  2. I ordered the Yoga Jacket this morning, (I was supposed to be on a JC fast, it only lasted 7 days)!

I also noticed that the inventory level minus 1 after I submitted my order, keeping my fingers crossed that was my order.

    ReplyDelete
  3. I would rather go to the store and get a higher discount.

  4. I am so, so happy this morning! Since I don't live near any b&m stores I love the EXTRA20 code! :)

    ReplyDelete
  5. Well I tried to hold off for the past few weeks, but the temptation of 20% off FS was too much. Oh well - just got the cashmere dress (#91543) I've been wanting for a long time so that makes me happy I broke my fast!

  6. I'm so excited...I had gotten the khaki chino jacket but returned it b/c I already had the cord in the same color. But i loved both. Anyway I just ordered the chino jacket for $35 (w/ the 20% off and the $25 gift card). So the cord is going back. Long story....but I'm happy!

I just wish the dream tie was on there. I saw the other dream tie just not the one I have. I paid $90ish for it and would love to get it at a better price.

  7. No, if the percent were higher I might be tempted. I am proud of myself...my JCrew fast has been 14 days now...tempted a few times but I don't order as much anymore...free shipping (unlimited amounts) made me spend a fortune...but I see the high shipping and pass. If I lived near a store I would be there though!!!

  8. aw man :) I JUST placed an order yesterday, thinking the extra20 would never come around. I even had the thought that it would be just my luck if the next day, the sale started. Oh well! This probably just means more money spent :) Happy shopping ladies!

  9. I ordered a Bella in black and the city fit surplus chinos in navy and a few t-s. I am crossing my fingers that it all ships!

    ReplyDelete
  10. I ordered the slub silk shell I've had my eye on and the Georgia dress in grey mist- it was a great deal at 39.99! I love extra20!!

  11. I am not ordering anything for a while. But I am not a fan of this new feature. The past couple of times I have called in to see if my educators discount was applied, they said they couldn't do both. Bummer

    ReplyDelete
  12. blumre, try again...it took me three times to get my educator's discount applied 2 weeks ago but I was told the other two reps are wrong! What is the point of the ed. dis. if you can't use it on top of the discount that is offered to everyone?

    ReplyDelete
  13. blumre: anon is right. I was told by the SD and SM at my b&m that there is no policy against combining the two so you have every right to do so. call back! (gosh, all those acronyms sound funny!) :)

    ReplyDelete
  14. OT: It shows my waitlisted item as changed to open now! Maybe I will actually get it. I wasn't going to be too sad if I didn't but it's nice that I am.

    ReplyDelete
  15. blumre, I hear you about the educator's discount...I have continuing problems with my student discount. Try calling again - last time, the third rep I got was perfectly happy to combine the student discount with another promotion. The first rep politely refused, and the second rep refused rather rudely. It's just the luck of the draw! I REALLY wish they would educate the reps about the applicability of the discounts - especially the rude ones!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Thanks guys, yea I had called in 4 times a month ago and not a one of them would do it. So I gave up then.

Now its a month later and I really can't buy anything for personal reasons so while I am reading this wonderful blog all the time (when I am not AWOL) I just can't buy anything right now.

  17. appgal, glad I'm not the only one who feels like a fool for ordering stuff yesterday! But of course I went and stocked up on some basics for summer today! Hope they all ship since stuff was dropping off my shopping bag as I browsed

    ReplyDelete
  18. blumre: I just asked CS the same thing (if they would include my educator's discount with the EXTRA20) and, of course, it was a "no go". Grrrr.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I wonder if there is someone higher up we can go to with problems about student/educator's discounts...is this enough to bother Mickey with?

Is very frustrating when the policies are inconsistent - I wouldn't even mind so much if they just got rid of the discount entirely, so I wouldn't have to worry about it! It just doesn't feel right to place an order without the discount when I know I could be placing one with the discount if only a different rep had answered the phone...

  20. i'm trying to look at the sale section in internet explorer and it's all messed up. if i click on sweaters i see a combo of girls, womens and mens regular priced items. anyone else have this problem?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Anon 8:50am- have you seen the Georgia dress in person? I checked it out bc I saw your post and the price you paid and think its adorable, but am curious about sizing/fit. I have never ordered a JCrew dress before. Are they true to size? Also, I know you ordered the grey mist, I love that and the deep persimmon, but wanted to know if you knew whether or not the grey mist was see through at all? The material looks a little thin. THANKS in advance!

    ReplyDelete
  22. OT-
Does anyone have the Brushstroke-print Sydney floral dress--comments on fit/style--do you love it?? I ordered it in that royal violet which looks GORGEOUS!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Those of you wish cashmere dresses, like anon at 8:23 - do you just wear them as is, or over something? I'm not interested in wearing one as a tunic, but I'm a little worried about length and itchiness factor. Any insight is most welcome, thank you :-)

    ReplyDelete
  24. I missed out on the bella jackets again :( I had one in deep chestnut in my shopping bag this morning and it disappeared while I was in the course of checking out :(

If anyone has a bella in size 12/14 that they would like to get rid of, in any colour in the herringbone, or velvet in the navy or leaf green, pls contact me at as01bc@hotmail.com

    Thanks!!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Hmm, don't know what happened - I mean to start out: Those of you who OWN cashmere dresses....then the rest :-)

    ReplyDelete
  26. Sadly, I see nothing worth buying . . .

    ReplyDelete
  27. I can't stop looking at the
    Metallic jacquard Zoey tank
    was $128.00 select colors $89.99 item 93585

Does anyone own it or has anyone tried it on? I'm wondering how 'green' it is in real life. I was going to ask if it's itchy but I read it's fully lined.

    ReplyDelete
  28. You know, I'm really over the sale section online right now. If a bunch of fall stuff (any of the coats, more of the blazers besides the ecole, the lydia, the tartines) started to hit the sale rack though, I'm sure I would change my tune...:)

    ReplyDelete
  29. Has anyone seen the Plum Chiffon Rosette cardigan in their store, and if so, what top was being shown under it? I thought I saw someone else asked this question as well, but I must have missed the answer. Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  30. covert5-can you tell me which french terry hoodie you got that runs small? I can find one with an oatmeal color? Was it sea salt? Did you get the long and lean one? Thank you-

    ReplyDelete
  31. correction- "I can't find one with an oatmeal color."

    ReplyDelete
  32. jcrewjunkie also asked about the plum flower cardi and how it was being displayed in store - sorry I'm not answering till now jcrewjunkie! But I can't be of much help unfortunately because at my store, they were just all laid flat on a table with nothing under them...:(

    ReplyDelete
  33. the final sale section is BORING. same stuff since June practically. I am loving that new art deco tank and it's much more affordable than the dress, plus more wearable too, will look great with a black cardi and jeans. i plan on getting it when the next rewards cards come out(mid Oct!)BGD

    ReplyDelete
  34. Tigs at 10:29: I have seen this in person, this summer in Boston. I love it, but if definitely looks like seaweed (which, my understanding, was JC's purpose) and it's very green/chartruese colored. It's dressy, so keep that in mind. Good luck!!!

  35. Cotton-silk lawn twisted-placket shirt item 98698 Final Sale $49.99

I purchased this for 40% off $39.99 (final cost $23.99!) in store. The only color 40% off was Bright Rhubarb, which I love. This shirt is fitted, very slightly sheer in this color and I would buy one in every color if they go on sale. The material feels really good on (cotton/silk).

I really wanted Deep Indigo but it was put on back order when I ordered it earlier this month.

    ReplyDelete
  36. La Belle Helene: I have the cashmere dress in blacke from last winter. I wear mine with a beaded tie bronze necklace from BR, black sheer panty hose and black flats. It's very classic dress.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I just ordered old items (90723
Cashmere argyle sweater and 92491 Kensington shirt)
which I missed before with 20% off. I will buy new sale items at B&M store because it offers 40% off.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Leslie - Hi!Thank you for the feedback!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Blumre - I have noticed that you have referred to some personal things the last few days in your posts. Just wanted to let you know that I am thinking good thoughts for you. Hopefully, everything will turn out well.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Unfortunately the inventory is much better online vs in-store, so I will have to order online to get what I want, at least with 20% off! I did luck out a few days ago and scored the Sparkle argyle cardigan (#96541) with 25% off. Every little bit helps!

    ReplyDelete
  41. eh, i was in-store last night so I prob wont be tempted by this.

and i got the student discount in addition to other discounts (the 40% off final sale and a 20% suiting). even the CS rep was surprised, but the computer did it automatically. score!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Thanks Jenn_Brak. That's very kind of you!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I'm not going to go too crazy. Usually the extra percent off sales preceed JC loading up the final sale with new, more recent merchandise. I picked up one cashmere cardi that was part of early fall offering.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I am trying to look on the site, but I got the "BE Back Soon" tag.
Or it os going very slow.
Too bad this has become typical.

    ReplyDelete
  45. maybe the site is updating.

    ReplyDelete
  46. OT. Did anyone ever have an online status show an order is shipped but the tracking number is not available? What does it really mean? Called CS but the CSR didn't know what was going on. Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Does anyone own 1.) The Matilda Dress; 2.) The Georgia Dress; or the Metalic Giraffe Day Coat? How do they fit? Do you like them? Is the Giraffe Day Coat a fall/winter coat or a spring/summer coat? Will the Giraffe Day Coat keep me warm in the fall? Does the Matilda or the Georgia dresses wrinkle easily? Do they fit true to size?

There isn't much to buy online. However, I am contemplating the above items only if they are TDF.

Thanks in Advance for your help.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I probably won't order anything...I really don't like having the seperate code for the extra percent off now, either...I miss the good ole *pre-upgrade* days!

Re: Georgia Dress...one poster said the CS told her it is unlined.

    ReplyDelete
  49. tigs: What do you wear yours with? I just got this is green and it is lovely! I wish that I could have gotten it in the Rhubarb, but now they are sold out in my size. Darn.

    ReplyDelete
  50. To anon 10:04: I have not tried the Georgia dress in person but I did try the Julianne which is a similar fabric and it ran a little big. I'm usually a six and a four fit muc better. The Georgia is unlined, so it may be a little sheer.

To bpk: about the website search trouble- if you only sort by relevance and not by price, you won't get all those unrelated items. Its a glitch in the website that they're "working on".

    ReplyDelete
  51. kater: Yes, I did wonder! Thank you so much for answering. The Plum color is so very pretty, but when paired with the Plum Hammered Silk tank, as I told you yesterday, it was just "plum overkill"...LOL. That is why I was wondering what they were being shown with "in store". Again, THANKS!!

    ReplyDelete
  52. I was in a B&M store yesterday and got some great deals (esp with the student discount on top of the 40% off). I just can't bring myself to spend more online when it's been so unreliable and we have to pay for shipping and most of us can't apply our educator/student discount to online orders. It would be nice if they offered reduced or free shipping to card holders (or just good customers in general) like Banana Republic does.

By the way, I have been able to take some of my "Final Sale" items into the store to return, esp if they don't fit.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Anon 10:46
I think the color is gone--actually the item may be gone but my site is down
The item 86396 Sherpa lined vintage fleece zip hoodie

    ReplyDelete
  54. URGH! Their site is down.

    ReplyDelete
  55. What is going on--the website is down AGAIN...JCrew, I used to love you preupgrade but know I only like you and pretty soon......well, you get the idea. Will they get their act together before Christmas??? Doubtful!

I just want the old JCrew back!

    ReplyDelete
  56. I tried to open the jcrew website but it didn't work... does anyone encounter the same problem?

    ReplyDelete
  57. Yes, I am very curious about the giraffe coat as well, so any thoughts on it would be greatly appreciated!

    ReplyDelete
  58. I haven't seen the Merino Rose cardi diplay but I have one and it looks beautiful with many different colors. Fog, Honey glaze, bright blue, dark eggplant to name a few.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I do not hesitate to return a FS item if it doesn't fit. The entire FS concept is insane anyway. Blah!

    ReplyDelete
  60. I picked up a Bella jacket this morning but when I called to check the status, CS told me it's most likely shortshipped. They're completely out of the Bellas, sniff.

    ReplyDelete
  61. the site is still down.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I just tried to log on to the J Crew website and it shows a white sticky looking thing that says "be back soon...." OMG this is so frustrating! Is anyone else viewing the same thing?

    ReplyDelete
  63. JC is very good about accepting returns for FS items that don't fit or worse, are defective! I've received a few items with holes and tears. Call and get CS to put in a note on your order.

    ReplyDelete
  64. J.Crew's website is down. I just made a quick post about it. :(

    ReplyDelete
  65. jcrewjunkie: Why don't you try the plum cardi with the Rhubarb Lydia? Do you have the Lydia in the Slate color? Purples and Grays look really decadent togther. :)

    ReplyDelete
  66. jcrewjunkie @1248: just got it & haven't worn it yet. I'm basically a casual dressing, navy loving girl so mostly I layer color under navy. I would prefer to wear the pretty Bright Rhubarb alone. I really like the feel of the fabric.
My store didn't have Ivory at 40% off yesteday but they do today. I phoned in an order for it in Ivory at the store sale price: 40% off $39.99 = $23.99. I have the sequin-striped cardigan currently shown in FS (I'd link but the site is still down). I wanted to wear a white button down under it but it felt awkard/tight. I'm hoping this cotton/silk blend will 'slide' under the wool blend smoother than my cotton button down.
'Blah' back at ya about the FS. I'd like to try on a few things but I don't feel like dealing with calling CS, ordering it, calling CS back & then on top it all, if it doesn't fit, hiking it back to the store. (Yes, they take the fun out of shopping.)
They need to discount these items some place between 'New Arrivals' and 'Final Sale'.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Also, I just ordered the Metalic Giraffe Day Coat yesterday. Once I receive it, I will be sure to let you all know about it.

At first, I thought this coat was a total "pass" for me, but when I saw it on sale yesterday- I thought "why not?" :)

    ReplyDelete
  68. alexis: I think the Giraffe Day Coat is really pretty! I can't wait to hear your review...congratulations, and I hope you really like it! :)

    ReplyDelete
  69. FFM: Thanks! :) It is amazing how my opinion on pieces change once the price changes as well. I really did not think much of this coat until I saw it's massive reduction in price yesterday! ;) Now, I can't wait to get it. :)

    ReplyDelete
  70. I'm not going to bother ordering anything. Whatever I order will end up shortshipped anyway. The inventory is 95% inaccurate and non-existent.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Alexis: Congrats on the coat! It's beautiful! Definitely a statement piece! Can't wait to hear about it once it arrives! :)

    ReplyDelete
  72. Oh Alexis, you'll need to tell us what you think of it once you get it.

It's so funny how our opnion change as prices change. LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  73. Since I am stuck because I cannot view online, as we all can't shop, I suppose I can ask while we are all on pin and needles! Just got the French Serge Day coat. Didn't even open box up yet as still at office. My question, if anyone has seen it, will the Lulu heels in the yellow shade match this coat? Or are the two too different? I have a look going on in my head that my be off, may be really cute?! Any input would be great, B&M store to far for me to check it out. Thanks! Uggggh, the website is killing me by the way, hope my large order with coat contains no errors! Oh well, may be returning the Isabella heels in the sweet potato color anyway, not really what I was expecting color wise. Kind of fugly honestly! So, if I have errors it may push me to send them back for sure!

    ReplyDelete
  74. Weab & Crew Girl In Canada: Thanks! I am very excited about the coat, I just hope I will like it as much in person. It really is funny how price can influence what I think about an item. :)

Lily: Congrats on the French Serge Day Coat!!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  75. covert5: Thx for the item # on the hoodie! --10:46

    ReplyDelete
  76. I ordered the Giraffe Day Coat yesterday too. I ordered it over the phone and mentioned Rockaway, NJ, had 50% off final sale, so the rep honored that price and I got it for $64. Not bad for a $400+ jacket! However, with my luck, I'll absolutely hate it when it arrives!

    ReplyDelete
  77. Wow! What a deal on the coat. Its a bold jacket when you need a "wow". Oh boy, I wish I could view some of the sale items online! $40! That is awesome! That is such a rush when you can get a deal like that!

    ReplyDelete
  78. tammylee: I just tried calling twice for the metallic giraffe day coat and they wouldn't honor the store price. The said that I would have to be calling from the red phone at the store. Bummer!! Congrats on your great deal. The coat is adorable!!

    ReplyDelete
  79. Leslie, you do not need to call from a Red Phone. I did this yesterday and was successful at it. Call the store. Request to speak with someone at the Just Ask desk. They call themselves Concierges. Tell them what you want. If they have it in store, they will ship it to you at the discounted price. If they don't have it, they will place the order for you and they will honor the additional sale price. I purchased the Andie Bag yesterday this way.

    Good Luck!

    ReplyDelete
  80. I have the matilda dress and I don't know why it wasn't snap up right away on sale. I guess the silk fabric makes it a bit shiny and it does look a bit like a celebration kind of dress.

Anyway, got it in honey glaze. As far as sizing, I normally wear an 8 on top for the slim shirt, and ended up with a 10 on this dress (have 34D measurement on top). Like most wrap dress, it can gap in the front if you lean over and such, so sew a snap button in front for modesty if you need (or wear a cami).

But the style is very flattering, especially for hour glass figures.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Vivian: If JC does end up taking an item back that was FS, do they swap it out for the same item in the size that fits or do they refund your money? I wasn't sure how to return something FS b/c I thought that they wouldn't take it back. I bought the Jackie shell and it doesn't fit and I would like to swap it for a larger size.

    ReplyDelete
  82. fyi, the herringbone fiona in the sweet potato color (only) was 129.99 plus 40% off in store if anyone wants to get that color. all the other colors were still on promo for 25% off the reg price of $198.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Thanks Crew Girl in Canada!!! I'll give the store in Santa Fe a call and try ordering that way. Great tip!!

    ReplyDelete
  84. Also, looks like metallic herringbone clea in persimmon is in FS section now in all sizes 0-14.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Leslie, did you have any luck calling the Ask Me Desk?

OT: I was so bummed out that I had missed buying the Ringspun Chiffon Rose Tee online so, yesterday, I contacted J Crew and had them do a "We will find it for you" for the tee. I just got an email telling me that they found it in Sea-Salt. Yay!!! I'm soooo happy now!

I am so loving J Crew at this moment!

    ReplyDelete
  86. Anon at 3:45pm: Thanks for the info on the Matilda Dress. It's very pretty. After your post, I ended up ordering it in the plum. I really like the Silver but I think I can wear the Plum all year round.

I'm not very well endowed and ended up getting a 6. I hope it fits well.

    Thanks again!

    ReplyDelete
  87. Th email that I got, says 20 % off on-line and in-stores. Does it mean they are reducing %% in store this weekend?

    ReplyDelete
  88. slastena: I hope not! I work and my b&m closes early, so I can't get there during the week. I hope it's still 40% off when I get there in the morning.

    ReplyDelete
  89. When does that discount run Salstena? Is it a printable coupon or just 20% off sale?

    ReplyDelete
  90. iheartjcrew: They can either swap it for another size or refund your money (not gift-card) depending on your preference. I've tried both approaches with no problems, as long as you explain to CS and get them to put a note in your order to say you may exchange/return the FS item. If you bring it back to the store, just tell them nicely what the problem is and they'll just let you exchange it or refund your money. Buyer's remorse is not a valid reason.

If you mail in a return without CS approval for FS items, they will just issue and mail you a gift card of the refund amount instead of credit back to your CC.

    Hope this helps!

    ReplyDelete
  91. slastena: I really hope that's not the case. That would be a huge drag!

    ReplyDelete
  92. Has anyone tried on the corossol jeweled sandals? I really want one-but I'm not sure what the sizing is like....It's in the final section but it still costs $279!

    ReplyDelete
  93. Crew Girl in Canada: I haven't called the store yet...got a little tied up this afternoon. I've got to get on that!

Congrats on your Chiffon Rose T...I got mine last week and got tons of compliments on it. Also, a few people posted a few days ago that they didn't want it because the website says "Dry Clean" only. Not true!! The tag says "wash in cold water, tumble dry low". I did that and it actually looks better than before!!! The chiffon has fluffed up a bit and looks awesome. I'm planning on wearing it under my grey berry astrid! Can't wait!!

    ReplyDelete
  94. Leslie, Slastena just posted that she received an email stating 20% off online and in stores. I don't know if they're changing the discounts in the store - so you'll want to get on it pretty soon.

What color is your Rose Tee? I desperately wanted the black but got the Sea Salt instead. I plan on wearing it with one of my black Super 120 pencil skirt suits, pearls and black high boots for work.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Crew Girl in Canada: OMG!!! I just talk to a SA in the Santa Fe store and she called to order the metallic giraffe day coat at 40% off and the CS said the are out of stock. Call me crazy, but the website says they have sizes 4-12. ARRRGGGH! I'm getting so mad with this system. They are going to do a locate for me and let me know and the CS put a "note" in the system that I would get 40% off. Craziness!!

My chiffon rose tee is in sea salt also. I just figured I'd get more wear. I'm going to wear it with my berry astrid, the plum dream cardigan, and the honey glaze tie dream cardi. Hope those ideas help. I think you'll love it!!

    ReplyDelete
  96. leslie:
how does the chiffon tee fit? Is it tight fitting? i have one on hold @the store , thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  97. Leslie: They're out stock??!!! What size are you looking for? The last time I checked, they had it in size 4 through 12. I wear a size 6 and they have 49 in that size. Did you go on line to see how many they have in stock in your size? I'm thinking that the CSR your SA spoke to messed up?!

Thanks for the tips on the Chiffon Rose Tee. I was thinking that I could only wear it with black but after your post, I see that I've got more options. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  98. anon: The Chiffon Rose tee is fitted. I was worried that it might shrink so I bought a L (I'm normally an 8/10 on top). I'm glad I did, the M would have been too tight.

Crew Girl: I hear ya on the coat situation. My SA had the CS rep check twice and she said they are out of stock. Weird...I may just suck it up and buy it online for 20% off. Man...I must be a dedicated customer!!! LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  99. Crew Girl: YEAH!!! I just called CS myself and told her my story...gave her the name of the store and the SA and she honored the 40% off and....NO SHIPPING. Thanks so much for guiding me in this direction. You rock!!!

Have a great weekend. By the way, is it cold up in Canada yet? I'm in Albuquerque...cool nights, warm days still. Don't get snow until Nov. I can't wait!

    ReplyDelete
  100. Leslie: Yay! I'm soooo glad you got your coat. After your post, I went online and I see that they have 27 size 8s and 18 size 10s - so there's really no reason why the coat should be sold out.

I'm on the west coast - Vancouver to be exact, about 3 hours north of Seattle. It doesn't snow here much. But we get lots and lots and lots of rain. Currently our evenings are around 13 degrees (approx 55 degrees) and the days are somewhat warm. But I know it's going to get cool soon.

I'm so glad that you got your coat. As Alexis said previously, isn't it interesting how something becomes so much more attractive at a lower price point? I know that I didn't give this coat a chance at $425. But at the further discounted price, it became a MUST HAVE! Too Funny!

    Have a great weekend too!

  101. To whomever was asking (cannot find them now)--Plum Merino Rose cardi looks great with pewter or slate. Because of it's refinement it is better suited to a hammered silk in my opinion.
This refinement is really the reason I far prefer the jackies--they look great with a casual perfect fit tank under it or silky pleated jersey tank (by the way FFM the dark slate is awesome in our favorite shirt:)OR a hammered silk or piper for more dressy look.

  103. Math teacher:
I do hope you are right. I am in Philly for the conference and have every intent to check the local store tomorrow. 40% off is SOOOO much better then 20.

    Shannon:
I have receievd an email, similar to the one Alexis posted, but mine said 20% off on-line and IN-STORES. It got me alarmed, as I really hoped for 40% off in b&m stores.

  104. ugh, that Bella I thought I got this morning? Cancelled :(

This has been a bad week for J.Crew...

  105. Hey all,

I see that some people are posting that they can check the inventory levels online of items? Thats cool! How do you do that? Maybe I have missed it?

I have tried 4 times to get the Black Cafe Capri in my size. Ordered online, Cancelled. Called to order since it was back online, ordered, cancelled. Today they were on the site under TWO item numbers. I was thinking, SCORE, at last! Went back to my shopping bag, disappeared! Ahh! I called in and she said out of stock on both item numbers, so she is doing a store search for me.

I am beginning to feel like shopping at JCrew is like a competitive sport. I have this drive to succeed. Must. get. these. pants! Its funny now too--because of this amazing blog, I feel so informed when I go into the store, I feel like I am on an Amazing Race challenge--search the store floor for items, find out deals, calculate lower prices, take out list of written down item numbers, head to red phone, etc etc. My husband thinks I am officially JCrazy.

Does anyone else feel this way? This blog is SO helpful (thanks Alexis and everyone!) that Jcrew shopping feels like a sport you want to win--get the best deal, score your coveted item?

Alexis, maybe we could have a post on "Your Favorite Sale Score"

  106. jilz: I have to say . . . no. Basically because there isn't much people to fight for items.

  107. I recvd the same email as slastena -- 20% off FS in stores and online today through Sunday. I jammed to my phone and called my nearest J Crew store, with 10 min till closing time for them. I wanted them to charge a sweater today at 40% because I would be bummed to arrive tomorrow and the additional % has been reduced to 20%. The CS checked w/the mgr, though. She said every store is different but it'd still be 40% off tomorrow. I guess you just have to try your local store to see what they are offering. Esp since Rockaway had 50% off.

  108. jliz: What you've said is so funny, yet so true (to a degree). I absolutely LOVE this blog and because of Alexis and her blog, I feel that I've become a more informed J Crew shopper. As far as the competitiveness is concerned, no, I don't feel like I'm on the J Crew Amazing Race - competing with others for the J Crew prize. However, I find that this blog spurs my desire to buy more. My husband can attest to the fact that I don't need anyone else to encourage me to buy more. Take my word for it, I certainly do a great job at it myself. lol

Take the Ringspun Rose Tee for example. I saw it on the site a couple of weeks ago. I remember thinking that it was a cute tee but at $55, I didn't have the desire to buy it. But when I found out (through this blog) that it was sold out... WELL, I. Had. To. Have. It. Period! It became an obsession for me to have this tee. I don't chalk my obsession with the tee to being competitive but because it's now unavailable, it was my mission in life (or for the day - which ever comes first)to find the tee. I had to have it. I don't know what you'd call my behavior. But I know my husband would call it AN ADDICTION. lol

  109. Sorry all, I just realized my post made it sound like I was duking it out with other customers...thats not what I meant, oops! I just meant that I feel all driven to find great deals and those coveted items. When I get the store I race around scanning the racks...go go go!

Actually, the other thing is when I am in the store, I find myself smiling at other customers and wondering if they are fellow Aficionadas who just recently heard about the latest sale or fun item to find!

I love this blog and the helpful and colloborative nature of everyone on here. Aficionadas, unite!

  110. That's very creepy jilz. I'd walk the other way if a dude smiled at me if while I was shopping.

  111. Jeff, you need to take a happy pill. What the hell's wrong with you these days?? Maybe you should go on hiatus and come back when the sun is shining again in your neck of the woods.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Someone is sensitive. I'm sorry, have you ever heard of a joke? Touchy Touchy. Maybe you should take one of those happy pills.

    ReplyDelete
  113. The funniest part is that I'm not even replying to you. Way to just march in & start trouble. You see, this is why Anons comments shouldn't be allowed. They just like to worm their way around since no one knows who they are. You don't see me making any kind of reply anonymously.

    ReplyDelete
  114. jeff -- you crack me up. It's clear that some just don't get your dry humor. I appreciate it.

    ReplyDelete
  115. JLiz - I think you put a high quantity of the item want and then the website will show you the number in stock. At least that's the way I remember it. Haven't tried.

I agree that this blog is so helpful. And I've also wondered who else in the store visits the blog. There was a woman in front of me last week who smiled and looked me in the eye. Maybe it was you? Were you in SF? *lol* Anyway, I didn't connect at the time because my mind was somewhere else, but I guess I could have just said blog. And she would have either known what I was talking about or not. Anyway -- I've had so much fun here and definitely spent waaaay more than I would have otherwise. Like waaaaaay. Did I say way?

  116. Solid soirée laminated-canvas bag $39.99 item 97151

Would you use this bag during the fall season? It's Bright Rhubarb & is used in the fall clothing. Does this style & color scream spring/summer use only? Thanks any input you are able to provide.

    ReplyDelete
  117. anon @9:18: I think you would be perfectly fine to carry that bag into Fall, especially when worn with a casual outfit. :) Have you seen it in person?

    ReplyDelete
  118. JLiz, GigiofCA, et al: Too funny! Whenever I am at a JCrew store I wonder if I am running into another Aficionada who knows about our blog! I also wonder if the store associates I am interacting with know about the blog too. :)

I am also really grateful for our community. I know I have personally learned so much about JCrew thanks to all of you! :)

  119. Alexis and Crew Girl: I know what you mean about not really caring about an item until someone in this blog mentions it, or better yet, it's sold out. GOD FORBID!!! I. must. have. it. now!!! Hilarious!!! I think I've become completely JC obsessed in the last month since I've starting reading this blog. You guys are such enablers. I think I need an intervention!!! If anyone lives near Albuquerque, NM maybe you can come over an unplug my computer!!! LOL!

  120. jeff: try reading what you write before submitting. it may just be dry humor, but it comes across rude and sarcastic to some of us. we all just want to be nice to each other!!

  121. I order two bellas this morning. One herringbone and the other velvet at 50% off. Let's see if they actually ship :(

    ReplyDelete
  122. Cathy, I agree. Jeff needs to read what he types and think about how it may be perceived (given that supposedly these quick responses are all "jokes".) I find that he is very quick to judge and slam someone for a comment, opinion or well--pretty much any reason. Thus the need to take a happy pill. It is consistent throughout the blog and I am not trolling, I am just being honest.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Honestly, if you can't take it, avoid my comments. That's it.

Did any of the Anons also forget that I was not addressing you. I don't understand how you find a reply that wasn't even aimed at you offensive. Did anyone ask you to respond for them, no. This isn't rocket science. Well, maybe it is for some people.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Most of us don't come here to be negative. I find this to be a fun part of my day. But it takes away from the fun when people are less than kind - whether the comments are directed at you or not. Be nice everyone! Read Alexis' plea for common courtesy...ok I am done responding to negativity, and will now skip over these entries :)

  125. Leslie - It's me Elena in ABQ too and I just got my champagne rose tee and love it like you do. Maybe we will see each other around town wearing it! That would be so funny - ABQ is not that small! I just had to have it!

    ReplyDelete
  126. Hey Elena!!! I'm so glad you like your tee!! I wore it the other day and got a ton of comliments. I also posted on another topic that I washed it and it actually looks better! The chiffon kind of pops up a bit.

I also caved and bought the metallic giraffe coat yesterday by calling Santa Fe and getting 40% off. I'm guessing I'll be the only one in ABQ with a metallic giraffe coat, so you'll know it's me!!! LOL!!

No I have not seen it in person but I will soon enough! I just like it becasue of the color/style & thought it would be cute. It will be a for casual use only bag. I will tell you what I think when it arrives.

I had posted my request in a newer post & Alexis thought it could be "rocked" through the coming season(s) so I went for it. Thanks for the replies!

  128. Has anyone purchased is the new Italian Art Deco Cami? I usually wear a size 6 but some of their tops have been fitting very loose and I have had to go down to a size 4. Same issue with the Golden Roses Cherie Cami? What do you think?
