Weekly Share: Other JCrew-like Retailers

This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent" posts), where we can share our finds from other retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew (like Anthropologie, LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann Taylor, and the like.)

If you have recently encountered items that are similar to J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including experiences with certain merchandise pieces, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. Everlane: so i finally got that ReNew Half Zip Fleece worked out. the size small was the right call. i give it 3 stars. it's cozy and nicer than a standard sweatshirt and has a little pull cord at the bottom to help bring the excess swing in a bit. but the pockets are located on the side seam and it's kind of an awkward location. i can use them but it's not in a natural arm swing kind of place... if that makes sense. the neck is also a hair high on me but i have a thing about how high i like the necks of my turtlenecks.

i also bought the corduroy chore jacket (because i had store credit). it's definitely an oversize fit and some people sized down but i don't think that would be the right call for me. the body would be slimmer but the jacket and the sleeves and neck would all be too short/tight. i went with a size small (which seems to be more consistent than jcrew). the corduroy is surprisingly soft! i do like it and am glad i gave it a shot. i just wish i did it earlier in the season when the temps didn't drop so low!

anthro: i bought the Pilcro Corduroy Pencil Skirt in green. and it's adorable (much more muted green than on screen BTW). i actually went with a 4 petite in this. 4 is my usual skirt size there but i'm 5'4" and thought the regular was just too long. the 4P falls just below my knee. BUT i wanted to give a shout out to their CS! i bought it regular price (i know i know... never buy full price) but then it went on sale a few days later... with an additional 25% off sale... i spoke to CS about the sale price but i forgot to mention the extra % and they did it anyway! and correctly! you have no idea how many times i've had to help jcrew CS do math!

    1. I’ve been waiting for your review of the fleece! So with the half zip version, does your phone fit in the pockets? I don’t need it for my hands, just to stash a phone and maybe lipgloss, hair clip. Etc. I’ve literally worn mine every day. I bought my husband two (sort of by mistake but he will keep the spare). How is the brick color?

Sadly I’m returning all the cashmere I bought. The fit isn’t exactly what I want. I have a few others sweaters I’m eyeing but I’m holding off because I want to make sure I really need them.

PS. I got two denim jackets and love them. The dark blue is lesser expensive now than when I bought but no regrets. I also got these in the small.

    2. The pockets are really deep and fit my phone with room to spare. I got the French blue color. I was originally thinking of getting the brick color once I straightened out all the back and forth with sizing on this one... But I'm holding off on ordering another until I see how much use I actually get out of the blue one first.
