J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

  1. I’m no cashmere connoisseur (I think I’ve mentioned) but until later today Everlane has certain cashmere sweaters for $100. Most of their colors are more muted but each style has various options including blues, rusts, browns, black, ivory, gray and navy.

For anyone following along, I ended up returning the ribbed mockneck. I loved it BUT with the side slits it just ended up being too boxy (rectangular since it was hip length) on my narrow torso. It only worked if I tucked and that’s not always possible,

However I’m trying the turtleneck in black and gray and the raglan mockneck in black.
I also just got the ballerina neck (I think that’s the name) which is a wider neck I thought would work with a button down underneath, but it’s bit short.

    1. I got the Everlane blue cashmere sweatshirt on sale for $50 a few weeks ago and while it's not soft as some cashmere tippis I have from the early 2010's, it's WAY thicker than current j.crew cashmere - love it!

    2. I’m just hoping the sweaters are long enough for me, my biggest complaint about Everlane is many of their sweaters and sweatshirts are so boxy they don’t fit me well.

  2. This really should go under looking to vent but I thought it might get lost - I just found out the JCrew Rewards members no longer get free shipping at JCrew Factory. You have to spend $99 to get free shipping or have a JCrew credit card. As far as I know there wasn’t any notice, I wonder if JCrew is going to start charging for shipping againšŸ¤·‍♀️

    1. It really wouldn't surprise me. Seems like reviews are going away. Several new items have no reviews and no way to post a review.

    2. Well, if they got rid of the free shipping, that would drastically cut down on my spending.

    3. Same here Miss JR - I definitely bought more from JCrew Factory with free shipping

    4. I definitely placed more orders with free shipping at both JC and Factory, as I would often order a tee shirt or one item and shipping costs would often stop me from ordering. However, as shoppers I don't think we are owed free shipping, as it does have a cost to the store and to the environment. That said, it is a poor business move as it will curtail many orders and shoppers do expect free shipping. (Maybe it is to encourage shoppers to have the JC card?) Also - who orders $99 worth of anything a factory? Verdict: bad move for JCFactory

    5. Agree - really bad move. I had a shirt and cardigan in my cart but will not order without free shipping.

    6. I got an email this AM saying that the Rewards conditions have changed to free shipping only for jcrew.com.

I agree that it's a poor business move - customers aren't entitled to free shipping but it's certainly an incentive especially if you don't live near a JC Factory store. I personally don't buy from Factory but when jcrew.com began offering free shipping to members, my orders went up exponentially. I wonder if this is part of a strategy to dial down the online Factory business.

    1. Yes! Even though it’s only $5 it’s the principle.

  5. I contacted Jcrew Factory CS to clarify the new shipping policy. If you are a Jcrew cardholder there is free shipping with no minimum purchase required. I have posted this before, if you have a Jcrew CC,pay your balance in full each month otherwise you will be charged exorbitant finance charges which would negate free shipping. Keep in mind there are no free returns unless items are defective at which time the company will waive the $7.50 return shipping fee. The bank which they use Comenity Bank has numerous complaints against them. There are always plenty of other offers out there and I believe there will more consumer friendly deals. I never carry balance and I have had to fight with them over refunding charges as they take their sweet time posting. The FTC should go after them. Keep in mind Jcrew’s balance sheets are terrible and I believe this is one way of trying to decrease a little of their debt load.
