Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Returns/exchanges.
Still need to return that bow shoulder tank (supper cute but way too tent like on me)
And exchange the linen skirt, fringe tank and pineapple shirt for smaller sizes. Not sure the fringe tank will work in a smaller size (already sized down one) but I do like it so I'm willing to try. The pineapple tee and linen skirt are great and I totally want to keep them (in the right size, of course)

    1. I'm really pleased with the linen skirt too. Hope you're able to get the sizing right.

    2. How is the sizing on that skirt? Is it a thick or thin linen?

    3. i think it's a little big. i normally go for a size 4 in skirts but the 4 in this hung really low on my waist/hips so the overall effect was just too baggy instead of casual/low key. (laying flat, the waist measures about 15" across)

the linen isn't see thru but it's thinner where it's comfy and breezy for warm weather.

    4. curious which linen skirt is this? The fluted one?

    6. Oh, thanks! Been curious about that one too - love in the green! I'm usually a 4 in skirts too, sizing down to a 2 sounds insane for me but if the 4 is 15" across the waist, that's pretty big. hm.

  2. Good news is that I got my shipment very fast - 2 days after my order. And the staples that I ordered - tissue T and some cotton Jackie shells, are terrific.

Bad news is that the palm frond top never arrived - there was a pair of Minnie pants instead. These mistakes happen much more frequently with J Crew than other retailers in my experience.

The textured linen herringbone suit separates are going back. I agree with the reviews that the fabric is way too heavy for summer. And the pants lining is indeed noisy. The cut and fit of the jacket is truly fabulous, And I wish JC made this jacket in other fabrics. The cropped pants are odd - they don't look cropped, they just look too short (I'm 5'6"). If the pants were full length I might consider keeping them.

  3. So, I went to the clearance store yesterday in Arden. It was on my bucket list & so worth the trip. The JCAs are right...you NEED to go. In season merchandise was available at ridiculous prices. Items were typically marked @ about 70% off before the additional percentages off. As an example, linen shirtdress with handkerchief hem that's sold out - net $21 after 30% off. Downtown field jacket in mossy brown $28. Mechanic field jacket $42, pink gingham linen pants, $21, white denim dress $21, Thomas Mason shirts that are still full price @ $138 (B3520; 50084) were $28 each. Thomas Mason shirts have been on my purchase list for a while. I bought all of these items & others. The cheapest items were perfect fit long sleeve tees for $7 (needed basic colors of black and white; love the v and they work great alone or as a layer) and the Ratti under the sea print halter bikini for $7.5 (still full price @ $56) The most expensive item was the Collection black leather top that's still $350 on the website; I paid $80. I could go on and on. There's lots of jewelry including older items like W Britt gold bar necklace with black center and lemon crystal necklace. Lots of shoes too but larger sizes were limited; I wear a 10. Didn't purchase any jewelry, shoes or other accessories. You will need to know your stuff because not everything is a bargain i.e. some of the collection pieces are actually priced better if you buy/order them in store with 50% off sale in store i.e. Collection suede patio pants There was a mix of fall/winter & spring/summer so I shopped with that in mind. I also had a list of the specific/similar item(s) I wanted to find and holes in my wardrobe. Give yourself plenty of time to try on and to revisit racks. There were things I missed in my initial passes. I went over my budget of $500; spent about $640 but so worth it. Staff is very helpful & great to work with; even carried my bags to the car. Highly recommend!!

    1. oh my gosh, those prices!! We're thinking of going to Virginia later this Summer, maybe I can convince my family to take a 5 hour detour! :)

    2. So glad you got to go. I am going next weekend. You are right about knowing your stuff and checking the racks numerous times. I usually start with shoes when I first go in, then to jewelry and then through the clothing racks. I then make a second and third pass just to be sure that I haven't missed anything. The staff is super helpful and fortunately they know me by name, I have been known to take them bagels... They love Einstein Bagels. I have been shopping there since 2010 on a very regular basis. Wouldn't have near the fabulous wardrobe that I have without these great deals.

    3. I have to visit my in-laws (ugh) in Garner in August. I think I will have earned a 4 hour detour to Arden, LOL!

    4. @DD, I can totally appreciate why you've been a loyal customer for 7 years. Just incredible!
@Julie Taykor & silver_lining, you both "deserve" a trip to the clearance store, LOL!
@shopalot, even though I'd read DD's posts about the pricing, it's still something else to see it in person. When I picked up the first dress, I was like OMG! You gotta be kidding me.

    6. @mygoddy, I'm so glad that you found great pieces! That's amazing! I wish I could try the Arden location. I still can't believe how sparse the Lynchburg store was when I went with literally barely any skirts, shorts, dresses on the racks. I think I would have passed out if I had found the great items you mentioned lol.

    7. @jan, I hope you're able to check it out at some point. It really is a great spot! Hate the Lynchburg visit wasn't better since I knew you'd been looking forward to it.

  4. I am so, so jealous! Would love to go there. I'd probably get dizzy from excitement. $28 for the Downtown Field? Amazing!!

  5. Hello Crew ladies! TGIF! Going specifically to get the Off-the-shoulder dress in Ratti® Into the Wild print. I have an event to go to and it is soo hot here, I think this would be perfect! Just said it is not included in the promo :(.

  6. I stopped in this afternoon to try on a few items. I was told that tees/shorts are 40% off and jewelry is 30% off. Sale was 40% off. I glanced at sale but I was mostly there to check out the new arrivals.

I tried the mixed stripe skirt and embroidered palm Jackie (both TTS and very flattering), the Into-the-Wild Ruffle Sleeve top (the print isn't personally for me but I see why so many people like it), Chambray short sleeve shirt dress (loved this can't wait for it to hit a promotion), Indigo gauze popover, Ruffle-hem top in gingham and short-sleeve popover in vintage plaid.

You can see the photos on my blog here.

    2. Great reviews, Anne! Also, agree with your comment about wishing the Into the Wild print came in a pencil skirt style - I would've opted for that version as well.

    1. Hadn't paid these dresses much attention when seeing them in store. With that bring said, I really like them on you. They fit you well and look nice.

    2. Mygoddy -- thanks! I didn't think I'd like the grommets, but they work for me on the dress.

Congrats on your trip to Crewmecca! Sounds like Arden is the place to select if there's a choice.

  10. I just wanted to mention that I'm really liking the Ryan sunglasses. I finally used them on my recent vacation and they were very comfortable, stylish and felt sturdy. Nice quality. Sometimes my raybans bother me because of the nose pads but the Ryan style doesn't have any and even though they are substantial they are comfortable.

    1. I ordered the Sam two months ago. I'm waitlisted. And it looks like it won't be available till September, I think?? The quality is nice!

    2. @JSR, that's crazy, it would be great to have them for summer. :) do any stores have them so you don't have to wait so long? I thought I saw some at a couple of Florida stoes last week.

    3. JSR - I ordered the Irving sunglasses way back in Feb, waitlisted for June. Then pushed to the 1st wk of Jul. I canx them and ordered the Factory retro sunglasses in both colors, which I'm happy with. There's a bit of weight to them. More than I'd expect.

  11. Stopped in to get the watermelon tee for my mom for her birthday. Ended up with a surprise love of the cotton shorts in retro floral. The red and blue pattern is pretty, and they fit beautifully - a higher rise ( forgiving with tees!) and 4 inch inseam! Paid full price and glad to have in my wardrobe. Wore most of the day today and found them quite comfortable.
