This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale
items at our
various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If
you are stopped
by a J.Crew store this past weekend
to see what's available (if
anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS
{sigh!} in person, maybe you
might be willing to
share that with us in this post. In
particular, if you could share
with us a few of the noteworthy items
that are available, at what
prices, and potential sizes the
store is carrying (as well as the
store location)- that would be
fantastic!
Also, please
let us know if your local store
was/ is carrying an additional
percent off sale. Thanks in
advance!!! :)
OT:. Some fun pop backs in Madewell's sale section this am. I just scored a sweater dress from 2011!
ReplyDeleteI found a few things at the store this weekend. I liked the faux leather scallop trimmed tank in shadow (a dark navy). I tried on the cotton Jackie cardigan sweater in embroidered palm in black/ivory. It is really nice, but I couldn't think of where I'd wear it so I didn't buy it. I also bought the Embroidered Gauze Eyelet Mini Skirt in the navy/green color but I am not sure about it.
ReplyDeleteI liked more at Madewell this time. I bought the manana tee (wish it were longer, but it's fine). I tried on the Plaid Off The Shoulder Dress. It's cute, and I think it can be worn on the shoulders too, but I didn't get it because I don't wear dresses that often. Loved the cute plaid though. The Embroidered Suncoast Dress was just okay on me. My favorite was the Sailport Sweater Vest. I went down a size in this. I tried on the Denim Boy Shorts in a couple of washes but I didn't like them. The waist/top of the shorts looked very mom jeans-ish. The cut off hem was ragged and uneven, which might not have bothered me if the top looked better. I did really like the high rise denim shorts in black and white, though. These have a lot of stretch. I think they're a good option with a shorter top. They must be doing something different with the high rise lately because I never liked them before but I like these. I also like J. Crew's Side Zip Denim Shorts (in white and in Thornton (blue) wash), which is also a higher rise, so maybe I'm just into the higher rise lately.
I also tried and bought the Madewell Beachhouse Eyelet Skirt in black. I'm torn between this skirt and J. Crew's Embroidered Gauze Eyelet Mini Skirt (and even with that one, I'm torn between the white and the navy/green, and even torn between two sizes). I only need one skirt like this though so I have to decide which one to keep.
I also recently tried the Madewell Flea Market Flares, Sailor Edition, in white, in Petite. I appreciate that they made them in Petite, but I didn't care for the fit on these on the upper part (probably because I'm not really petite, just short).
It's been a while since I've gone to the store and liked stuff enough to buy, so that was fun. I think they're moving in a good direction.
Thanks for bringing that embroidered gauze mini to my attention cate. I hadn't noticed it before and it looks super cute. I always have loved that style of skirt for summer.
DeleteI like that gauze mini skirt in navy/green too! Is the fit, TTS? I love an elastic waist.
DeleteIt would look cute paired with a navy cotton tee and navy superga sneakers.
But I feel conscious wearing a skirt above my knees. But does wearing age appropriate clothes, matter anymore?...As long as it doesn't border on the juvenile side, I guess...
Looks like you had loads of fun shopping, Cate!
Shopping celle, the j crew embroidered mini is one you can easily size down in. The waist is very forgiving and you can wear it at the waist or lower on your hips. I went with my regular size to try to keep some length. I'm not sure if that's the right decision though. The size down was less full/poofy but was slightly shorter, I thought.
DeleteOops that reply was to JSR!
Delete@shoppingcelle and @JSR i tagged you on IG where i reviewed the skirt
DeleteThanks Cate and Ina!
DeleteI went to two...First one had one papaya color jackie in my size at 49.99 with 50 off...It was damaged so the girl offered me the darker orange full price sweater at the sale price. i didn't want the darker so said no but that was outstanding customer service. J. Crew and most other stores have never offered to do something like that before...This store also had yummy donuts!...Then I went to a second store the next day they have the Jackie I wanted so I just got it there..Sale section was pretty big but dismal...filled with variations on solid colored t shirts mainly...The new Jackie is growing on me too. I was against it at first and then needed the yellow once for something and wore it and I still don't love the long sleeves or buttons but I find the body to be of good sturdy quality with a nice stretch like the old Jackie...Outlet cardigans just don't have that quality in the body.

ReplyDeleteI visited a couple of stores this weekend. I got the Suede Singback Sandals in navy for a bargain price. The store in the Village (West Van) didn't have the prices marked properly, which I realized once I arrived to the Robson store. :|
I have a few July sneak previews here.
Sorry, those were the Suede Slingback Sandals with Grommets, which I have also reviewed on my blog.
DeleteReceived the July Style Guide early, again, last Saturday. I guess this is the last 'summer' catalog...the next Style Guide will have early Fall stuff. Woohoo!
ReplyDeletewow...the last of summer! what have I bought so far....unfortunately nothing. maybe this roll out.
DeleteAre new arrivals on-line tomorrow or Wednesday? Anyone know?
ReplyDeleteHi maryeb - Tomorrow, the 14th.
Delete..and I hope with a 30% off full-price. :)
DeleteThanks, JSR! I like your idea of a 30% off sale :)
