ReplyDeleteA couple of Banana Republic reviews here.
I think BR is great for basics, but after 20 years of shopping, I'm pretty full of basics already, which is fine. There are usually a couple of things I buy each season from BR. Last week with their 40% off promo, no exclusions, what I ended up keeping are the silver trapeze dress and the silver fold over clutch. I love trapeze dresses for summer, flowy and cool, even if not figure defining. I have both the silver and black. Reviews say they run big but I think any size you get is going to be voluminous and what matters are the straps and the drop from the shoulder to the arm pit. I went with a small -- I am a small in tees and XS in tank tops, but I think this dress looks better a little loose. The clutch is great. I already have it in blush. It's an interesting shape, holding it's 3D quality (versus flat envelope clutches) and I love metallic accessories; they go with anything. I would say the quality of the BR bags are better than the JC downing totes, but less sturdy than most of the leather used in the JC sturdier bags.
DeleteGreetings JCAs - I recently received a Garnet Hill catalog in the mail. I remember getting catalogs from them in the 1990's when they just did bedding and bath, and drooling over the bedframes, quilts, sheets, etc. that were waaaayyyy beyond my budget. They still do that, but have also moved into women's clothing and accessories. They _do not_ carry formal busineswear, but have a lot of options for business casual and off-hours. Plus some of the same J.Crew models. You can find them at www.garnethill.com. Cheers - Jennifer
ReplyDeleteAgreed JenniferD. I really like Garnet Hill and have been a customer for years. Accessories, bags and shoes are terrific IMO.
DeleteI love the catalog but when I've ordered I've ended up returning almost everything for some reason. Same with Sundance, and the shipping and returns can both be costly so I swear of of ordering from them both (until I see something irresistible in the catalog and do it again).
DeleteIf you are looking for a lighter color denim jacket I recommend the Pilcro Railroad Stripe Jacket from Anthropologie. It is really cute and about half price right now! I sized up one size but if you want a more fitted look you could get your usual size.
ReplyDeleteBoden released its preview for Fall 2015 at their Preview Site. I had thoughts on it and other things here at the blog post. I still need to do a picks post, but thought some of you may want a quick look around.
ReplyDeleteVIsit 1060 Pairs to check out the cute sandals I tried on at Aldo
ReplyDeleteA few Lilly for Target reviews. I tried 2 shifts. Ended up with a little clutch.
