Remember when J.Crew didn't run promotions back to back. I actually enjoy all these promotions, even though it makes it somewhat difficult to know when to buy something. I purchased a pair of pants the other day that are now slightly cheaper. I don't want to bother returning and rebuying, but it does make me wonder when to pull the trigger on buying something. ;)
Will you be taking advantage of this promotion? What item are you hoping to pick up? Please share!
Has anyone seen or tried the summerweight cotton sweater? I am really interested in the "deep maple" colorway but there are zero reviews on the website as of now. It's described as "semi-fitted" but it doesn't really look that way on the model, IMO. I work in a frigid office so I am always looking for good cotton sweaters to wear during the summer. The closest store is two hours away from me so if anybody sees this IRL, please let me know! Thanks in advance!
ReplyDeleteI just got my order and tried on the sweaters (pullover version). I thought the sweaters looked pretty loose in the photo, so I got some measurements from customer service to compare with the Tippi sweater. Based on the measurements, I order one size down because I wanted a fit closer to the Tippi.
DeleteThe body of the sweater fits me similar to the Tippi, slightly loose, but not baggy. The arms are a tighter fit, however. Not uncomfortably tight but I lift weights and you can see the muscle definition. I think part of the problem is that the material for the upper sleeve is thinner than that of the body. You can kind of see this in the product shot of the 'deep maple'. Not the look I was going for, but I'll live with it. However, I won't be ordering any more because of the thinness of the sleeves.
The fabric is not soft, but ok. The body of the 'Light Shell' is slightly sheer, but not enough to need a cami imo. The 'Seashore' is not at all sheer in the body, just the upper part of the sleeve. I didn't notice this when I ordered the sweaters, but the ribbed sleeve cuff is quite long, almost to my elbow. I'm a bit short though (5'3").
I debated about ordering the 'Deep Maple'. It looks like a beautiful, unique color for Spring/Summer. I'd love to know, too, if anyone has seen it. It's available in the Summerweight cotton V-neck and I've been tempted to try this sweater as well.
Thanks for the in-depth review maryeb! I might just go ahead and order it in the Deep Maple with the promo - I'll report back when I get it as to the actual color. (I love brown tones especially since I went back to being a brunette!) I'll probably stick with my Tippi size as I wanted something comfortable, not fitted. Again, thanks!
DeleteI own the cotton cardi and tried the cotton sweater. The fit of both is TTS with a slouchy fit.
DeleteI adore the cardi, which is online only right now. With all buttons closed i wear it as a boyfriend sweater( and it looks like the boyfriend sweater from a couple years ago). You can see pics of me wearing it on my IG in the light pink color. (@inawonderland5)
I agree with maryb that they are not supersoft, they have kind of a crepe-y feel.

Thanks Ina! I miss seeing you on IG!

DeleteI miss seeing your outfits early in the morning:)
DeleteIs it nice and super light weight like the Feather weight cardis of yore? Why did they stop making those?
Delete@Jruby18 The cardi is different from the featherweight one,in fabric and shape.
DeleteThe fabric is maybe a tiny bit thicker, but the feel is different. Like i said it has a crepe-ey feel.
The shape is more of a boyfriend fit which i love, but not everybody might like that as you can see in the online reviews.
If anyone makes a trip to the B&M today, would you post if the store is still offering additional 40% off markdowns? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYes,still 40% going on today.
DeleteThank you so much, Ina. I want to get the jet set geo shell as it has been reduced to $39.99.
DeleteI would have gotten the shell too if it wasnt so high up in the front.
DeleteIt is a high crew neck! Love the print and it is 100% cotton so I'm going to go for it.
DeleteWas in store today as well and they said new arrivals on April 20th.
ReplyDeleteThank you Natalie!
