This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale
items at our
various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If
you are stopping
by a J.Crew store this weekend to see
what's available (if
anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in
person, maybe you might be
willing to share that with us in this
post. In particular, if you could
share with us a few of the
noteworthy items that are available, at
what prices, and potential sizes
the store is carrying (as well
as the store location)- that would be
fantastic!
Also,
please let us know if your local store is
carrying an additional percent
off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)
P.S.
I noticed that many of
you have already been reporting sale
items (and in which stores) in
other posts which by the way "thank
you!" :) I really appreciate how
helpful we are for each other!
I just went to J Crew the other day and could find almost nothing to try on. :( I did however find some cute goodies over at Madewell. You can see them here
ReplyDeleteI have a $200 gift card since Jan. I have not been the least interested in spending it.
ReplyDeletewish I had time... JC store is an hour away. I really want to try on the stripe cap sleeve dress (c0910) - it looks SO good on all the bloggers I've seen try it on!
ReplyDeleteNot for me. I went by Wednesday evening to check out the new markdowns and there was just nothing on sale, needless to say full price. On top of being really selective about what I buy lately, there is just nothing there. I just ended up making a payment on my J.Crew card and leaving which is probably a good thing. The balance on my account is the lowest it has been in years! Keep up the bad work J.Crew and I'll have that sucker paid off in no time.
ReplyDeleteMy balance has been at zero for months now! It's never like that!
DeleteDropped by the Sherway store today, SAs frantically moving merch into the Sale section which is now 40% off. Lots of some things - the laser-cut pleated skirt, tweed-stripe dress, metallic pleated midi, winking/dancing tees, various printed pants - but very much hit-and-miss overall and nothing grabbed me. The blossom (coral) espadrilles had just been marked down and I did pick those up for about $55, have several pairs of these but will not pay fp for a one-season shoe so feel like I won today!
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone have any thoughts on the low calf hair boots, those black/white leopard spotted boots? The only on line review says they run very small, in which case the size remaining might work for me.... I presume someone has the boots since they are nearly sold out.... I have the chelsea low boots in 8.5, which are a different boot but still that pointed toe design. Any thoughts greatly appreciated!
ReplyDeleteI did stop by to do a return and picked up the Primaloft vest in my size in the sale section for a great price. I was chatting with my favorite SA there and told her that I am not sure if I have aged out of J Crew. Even though I am usually dressed head to toe in J Crew everyday from my closet but the designs are just not doing it for me anymore. She mentioned that J Crew had fired a large number of the design staff but that we would not be seeing any of the new creations/designs until the Fall. Has anyone else heard that?
ReplyDeleteI would not be surprised if more than a few J Crew stores close. I think the inventory ( too much ) and all of the other issues retail has will be its demise. I do not want this to happen....but change like design do take time to implement. Next fall would be the soonest I would think that we would even be seeing changes in the product. This may or may not pull J Crew back up to where it once was....I feel the pain Mickey.
DeleteI'm not surprised that they would let some designers go. The fall runway from NYFW Fall '15 looks promising. I should just save my $ and not bother with Spring/Summer.
DeleteMe too. I also think the spring shoe selection at Jcrew, so far, is just deplorable.
DeleteI don't think "letting a few designers go" is going to change anything. These people take direction from the top, that's where change is needed. The junior designer who is told to draw and write specs for the same basic dress or jacket body but with a larger/smaller collar, shorter/longer sleeve, with a pleat, without a ruffle.. Those employees do what they're told. It's romantic to think that there's one big sketching room where magic happens, but in real life - not so much. Change is indeed called for, but at the top.
DeleteI agree wellfedfred, change at the top would be a real change indeed! I'd love to see Mickey AND Jenna go. Especially Jenna....
DeleteI am wondering more and more what the role of TPG Capital and Leonard Green & Partners is on the decision making process since the takeover. They are well known for a relentless focus on margin. The designers, Mickey and Jenna are living w their rules and nobody seems capable of righting the ship.
DeleteI worked for Jcrew and they recently closed our store at the end of January. We were told that they were closing a few more stores but they wouldn't disclose which stores. JCrew has had their ups and downs for many years. They will come back but it may take awhile. I think they got too big for their britches.
ReplyDeleteNo Crew visit for me this weekend ( just not interested in anything there right now, and trying to be selective). Did stop by BR today, and was excited by how many cute designs they had. Unfortunately, almost everything I tried was too short (crop top trend), but shorter waisted gals and petites should check it out.
ReplyDeleteNo visit for me this weekend. I've lost interest for the moment and will wait for the changes Mickey has been promising for a year or so now. Maybe fall! The store closings is not a good sign. JCrews current investor group is notorious for their profitability focus and that may be driving the cost cutting in store numbers and of course, quality.
ReplyDeleteTheir sales must be very disappointing if even their diehard fans like the JCAs are so bored and disinterested right now.
OT but I'm mostly excited to see what the Lilly stuff at Target is all about next week ...
I know!! I'm so excited for Lilly at Target. I hope I can grab everything I want. Is it pathetic that I have it in my calendar to remind me to hop on the day it goes live? Oy!
ReplyDeleteNot pathetic. Great idea!
DeleteJruby18, I have it on my calendar too! Although, I just realized I'll be out of town that day and almost an hour from the closest Target :(
DeleteWe will not have this up here in Canada as our Targets have closed. The way they departed here has left me avoiding ( a boycot really ) them all together. They really screwed up big time....
DeleteI need to hem a pair of leggings at Lululemon, so I think I will pop in a few doors down to JC.
ReplyDelete@ruffled + @jruby, check your local goodwill in a few weeks for Lilly! The two local goodwills get donations from Target and usually have a nice selection of stuff that did not sell. I have gotten some Altuzarra and Toms stuff that were left over and donated. At $4 a top and $6 for shoes (NWT), I didn't mind waiting a bit. Of course, I know Lilly fans are very devoted and might not have that much patience ;)
Really? I love me a good thrifting opportunity, lol!! I'm guessing there won't be much that doesn't sell, though. The word is that it's good quality this time around, unlike past collabs.
DeleteI think the Fall Lineup does look promising. If I was in charge, I think I'd move the stylist on to greener pastures. Her name is Gayle, I think? I really don't find her work all that inspiring, but maybe it's because the merchandise isn't, either?
ReplyDeleteFyi, the code FACEBOOK will take 30% off your purchase. I tried it this morning and it worked. I have no idea how long it will work though...
ReplyDeleteHi JCAs
ReplyDeleteA bit off topic but need ur help. For those who own and have worn their Mira heels, does the leather stretch out a bit over time? Not sure which one I should keep-- the size 5.5 the heel is slightly loose and they will slip out unless I put a heel slip in there. The size 5 the heel is spot on but the toes get a slight squeeze. If the toe box stretches over time then I think sz 5 may be the one to keep- I normally don't wear heels so my experience is zero :)!---any lovely JCA advice welcomed! TIA!
Madewell Mira's... Just to clarify ;)
DeleteMine haven't stretched. I'm a perfect 7.5 and bought that size in the Miras and they still feel the same as the first time I tried them on. I've had these for over a year now. Extremely comfortable. You could do that hairdryer trick to stretch the toe box - I've done it on another pair of Madewell shoes. Just put on a pair of thick socks and use the hairdryer on high heat to the area you need stretching. Then keep the socks on a while after.
DeleteI stopped at Factory today to make some returns...the whole store was 50% off including clearance. Tried a few things on but none of the sizing worked out so nothing came home. I did see the silver oxfords for $20 which I already have or I would have been all over that!
ReplyDeletewow....50% off and you left with nothing. my this is dismal.
DeleteSame with me Anne. I went last week and I bought zero. The factory sizing is atrocious. Baggy crotch pleated pants and thighs super tight skimmers. Yuck!
