Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. OT, can anyone who shops at anthro help me out? I rarely shop there but actually found a dress I like on the website. What is the deal with the shipping fees? They seem pretty exorbitant (I.e. $16 to ship me one dress). Do they still have that thing where you get free shipping if you have an anthro card? Or do they let you place an order through a retail store and get free shipping that way? TIA!

    1. Cass, I'm not an expert, but from what I know you do not get fs w/the Anthro card unless there is a fs promo going. As of late, when I have ordered an item while physically being int he store, I was not charged a shipping fee. I'm not sure what happens if you were to call a store directly.

Your best source is Roxy & the community at Effortless Anthropologie.

    2. Cass, I believe Gigi is correct - you don't get free shipping with the Anthro card unless they have a promo going on. I've ordered items in store and they don't charge shipping. I've also called two of my nearby stores when I wanted to order something (and didn't feel like going in) and they placed the orders for me without charging shipping. This may vary from store to store though. Good luck!

    3. Use their on line personal shopper and you should get shipping free.

    4. Cass, Anthro's shipping fees are ridiculous. I think their online service stinks and they use USPS to deliver, all of which makes the high shipping fees more annoying. That being said, they do have beautiful dresses. My experience is that you typically get free shipping if you order physically in the store. However, if it's an online exclusive, every once in a while you will get a SA that may not want to give the free shipping because I think technically they are supposed to be items you theoretically could have purchased in the store. It does not happen often but it has happened to me once or twice. It's usually with a new SA. I would either try another store or ask for a manager. Like Jackie I have also received free shipping when I have called and had an item shipped from a store but I don't think that's store policy as I know others who have been charged.

    5. Thanks so much ladies. The item is an online exclusive, but there is a store within walking distance of me so I am going to go there and see if they will place the order and waive the shipping for me anyway.

    6. Cass - I've ordered petites, which are online only. They get on their little handheld pad and punch everything in. Hopefully your store will be the same. Casually ask about shipping before it's processed, just to be sure. I think it'll be free, though. JCA-luck to you :)

  2. CARDPERK gets 25% off your Factory purchase online 11/1 - 11/10. Also good in-store.

Just reviewed the warmspun Fair Isle (was the farmyard fair isle in 2012) and the wool skimm pants (lined) over here.

    1. Gigi thank you SO much for posting this! There were items in my factory cart and this made me pull the trigger! Got the Fair Isle you reviewed, the cat sweater I missed out on at retail last year >^..^<, and the button down in suckered plaid!

    2. You're welcome, Jessy :)

I reviewed a couple necklaces the other day and a few more in today's post on 1060pairs.

  3. Going to both retail and Factory to return stuff. Will try to put blinders on as I do not need one more thing right now! For those interested, I received the hothouse floral dress from Factory and man is it short! I am only 5'4". I have the same dress in the wool flannel. For some reason in cotton it feels obscenely short. I don't want to pay to have it lengthened, so back it goes!

    1. 312JCgirl - I reviewed the hothouse dress here. I thought it might run a little small, but I wasn't sure because I've taken both 6 & 8 in factory this year.

    2. Thanks, Gigi. The hothouse dress seemed to fit TTS everywhere else but felt so dang short. I didn't measure the length against my other dresses in the same style but different fabric. It could be that the lighter weight of the cotton made the dress seem less substantial.

    3. It's too bad beacuse the dress is 100% cotton!

  5. For the ladies visiting factory, I am still on the hunt for the Franch hen sweater in either colorway in XXS, and the factory tailored shirtdress is the same color. Would you please let me know if you see it? I tried the route of calling a store and having them do an inventory check as Rose suggested, and I still wasn't able to find. TIA!

    2. I have an XS in the bright blue color of the hen that I have worn once if you are interested? I found it to run a bit small.

    4. I saw an XXS in the light blue tonight at the Philadelphia Outlets 610-323-5719. I think it was $49.97 and then 40% off. HTH!

    Two questions:

Any ideas on when we'll get rewards cards? (Takes so friggin long)

Kiwi tweed skirt #07490: anyone try this? Thoughts?

    1. Hi Miss JR - I think that rewards should be here any day now. They typically have about 6 weeks to redeem and in the past they've expired on December 15th.

  7. Cass, Anthropologie has had free shipping promotions for cardholders -- these typically last a week or two, lots of e-fanfare. Haven't seen onde lately, though.

  8. I probably won't get to a b&m this weekend. Totally OT had anyone had trouble with jcrew mobile? I bookmark lots of items so I can quickly check for popbacks and markdowns. Today every one, even the bookmark for the jcrew site itself, has an error message that says forbidden: transcoding a trancoded page. The items in my shopping cart are still there but the layout is totally different. I hate that I will have to re-bookmark everything. I guess they are trying to force me to use the wishlist. Either that or my hubs has found a way to block jcrew from my iPhone. Ha!

    1. I had the same problem thus am on my iPad, the layout was different and I could not get the searches to work right. I gave up!!!

    2. Select View Full Site on the bottom of the page.... It should work then!

    3. Thanks, it is working fine now. So I may have done something different.

  9. I went yesterday for a quick return. I didn't stick around though, because nobody was in the store and I hate shopping like that.

  10. Advice needed: I have a double-cloth metro coat from last year with tags still on (but no receipt). I haven't used it - it's still in the plastic wrap it came in. Will the stores accept it if I return it? I would rather use that money towards a lady day coat (fits me better).

    1. Spam box - Returns are within 30 days for retail, 60 days for online. The policy changed a couple years ago, I think. Stores are pretty firm about it.

      Delete
    2. Thanks gigi. I felt uncomfortable taking it to return if it was out of the window. Ah well, it's a good coat to have.

    3. If it's NWT, you may able to get a good price for it on eBay, or try the JCA Weekly Exchange.

      Delete
    4. They might let you exchange it. Ask your local store.

      Delete
    5. Absolutely try. Tell them you'd be happy to take a merchandise credit or whatever they can do. They might or might not, but it's definitely worth a try. My store would probably do it for me.

      Delete
    6. Spam box: I agree with Melissa and cate that you should try for a merchandise credit or exchange, especially if the coat was an online order. If you remember the method of payment you used, they should be able to look up your order number, or it might even be on the plastic wrap the coat came in.

    7. Thanks everyone! I'll ask at the store (I have to go anyway to ask about a schoolboy blazer...the pocket came unstitched at the bottom.

    8. Spam box - They cracked down at my store on returns past the stated return window. Doesn't look good during internal audits & I guess it could be grounds for termination. I've never worked for them so I don't know all the deets. Wanted to share so you have more of the store's perspective if they decline the rturn. Good luck when you try. It can't hurt! Every store is different!!! I would ask for a mgr right away.

  11. A update/review:
My Factory order from Wednesday was shipped Economy, scheduled to be delivered USPS tomorrow, but was delivered UPS today. It happens.

Factory classic button-down shirt in suckered plaid (41430) - I'm pleased with this. It is NOT the soft, kinda weird feeling cotton used in the original version. This is definitely a thin cotton that I prefer for layering, which I do a lot of this time of year. I'm between a 4 and 6 in JC button-downs, and the S in this one was just right. The colors are true to the website pic.

    1. Thanks for the review! I have mine coming to me soon, and I was wondering how the button-down would be.

  12. Hi Ladies!
I have a question: has anyone machine washed their lace-front sweatshirt? I ordered my usual alpha size since it said it was a slim fit, but now I think I should have sized down. I'm happy with the arm length and length overall, but it's very boxy and baggy on my torso and the lace kind of balloons and droops over in an unattractive fashion. Did anyone have their's shrink?

    1. I've washed mine on cold/delicate in a lingerie bag, dried it in the dryer for a few minutes then pulled it and hung to dry the rest of the way and it's like new.

  13. Check out the Cate Cami! I received an order today and they fit so well! They drape perfectly and are one of my favorite things in a while :)

    1. I really like the Cate cami in the paisley, but it looks like it is cut too low. I'd be interested to know what you think about this. Also, did you order your usual size? Thanks

      Delete
    2. It is cut low, but nothing inappropriate in my opinion just not for work. I also have a small chest, so that might make the difference. I ordered my usual size which is a 2 and it fits perfectly. The best part is I can wear a regular bra and you cannot see it at all.

    3. Thanks, PerfectFit. Good to know that you can wear a regular bra. It really is a lovely cami.

  16. Just did a comparison of Martina v. Sylvia wedges HERE for anyone interested.

Also, it looks like Factory has a Sylvia that comes in a gorgeous dark red (click HERE that is apparently Made In Italy and made out of patent leather?! Is that possible? Under $60 now and with the 25% off from CARDPERK would make that a really good deal...too bad they don't have my size :(

    1. Just read your post. Really helpful comparison! Thanks a lot for taking the time to write such a detailed post. I have yet to order anything from Factory and these are really tempting.

    2. Glad you found it helpful! I've ordered from Factory in the past but never shoes. All the other stuff never worked out for me due to their lack of petite sizing and cheaper fabrics (which usually cause me a lot of itchiness). But their recent stuff sweaters and outerwear have been super tempting for me. And when I saw how cheap these shoes were relatively to the Martinas, I had to try them. Really happy I did!

  17. I went in today to look for earrings for a dressy event I have coming up. didn't find any. The sale section was packed to the gills. A lot of traffic in the store, but not a lot of buying as far as I could tell and most of the lookers were back in the sale section. I was with my mom and daughter so had no real time to dig through things sadly. My SA was there and she just suuuucks. Complete dud. Oh well, there just wasn't anything that was calling my name at all - except I got a cute Iphone 5 cover that was cute and dirt cheap.

    1. Jruby18 - lol about your sa. Do they need to do 2nd & 3rd cuts or what!?

    2. Gigi, I think they do need to do more cuts. The sale prices IMO weren't good enough to move the merch.

  18. Sorry if this is OT but I was hoping for some advice. Has anyone tried/bought the colorblock duffle coat? I ordered one with the last 25% off promo, I just got it and I'm not sure if I like it or not. Love the cut (fits TTS), and the fact that it has a zipper and a non-detachable hood, but I think I would prefer it in a solid color. Anybody has any thoughts on this coat? I'm afraid I will get sick of colorblocking very quickly, and I'm not sure if it's a good look.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Hi Anna - I would not be surprised if JC released a solid version of this coat in another rollout. I liked this coat when I saw it in the catalog, but the colorblocking on the back was too much for me. If you think you'll get sick of the look, I'd wait until it's marked down further. I have a feeling some of these colorblocked coats will be quite marked down after Christmas. Just my two cents.

      Delete
    2. Thanks Silver Lining, I think that is a good advice. I emailed CS with a suggestion to offer the coat in solid colors - so I'm sure it's just the matter of time before that happens... I wish :)

    3. I got the green and navy version just arrived today and I love it! I think it might make it to markdown, but sizes might be limited if stores don't end up getting this. Also when it goes on sale it will be 2-3 months from now so the chance to wear this season will be less. Taking into these factors, I am keeping mine, and plan on wearing regularly!
