J.Crew Updates Website with New Arrivals!

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Tiffany Rose & JCrewGal (in this post), who let us know that J.Crew had an update to its website (click here to view online).

There are some new arrivals for men (click here) & women (click here). {wahoo!} It looks like Crewcuts (click here) has been updated, as did the J.Crew Collection (click here). The DECEMBER catalog (click here to view) is also available to view.

Now onto the new arrivals...
J.Crew rolled out a lot of novelty sweaters this time around. The Vintage Holiday Sweater (item 09137; $98.00) caught my eye. I actually think this sweater is absolutely adorable. Just the perfect thing to wear this time of year.

I am intrigued by the Mini-bows sweatshirt (item 09240; $110.00). I can't tell if this top is totally adorbs with all the cute bows or if J.Crew just got carried away with a hot glue gun after a trip to a craft store. I have to see this one in person to make the final call.

So the Collection Cashmere Pajama Set (item 06635) is gorgeous. I can't imagine what it would feel like to slip these on a frosty night... and I never will. Why? Because J.Crew is seriously selling them for $1,200!!! I can't. Just can't.

Even better! J.Crew is offering 30% off every order (no min! both online and in stores!) with promo code HOLIDAY. This offer expires December 1, 2013. The fine print includes:
*Offer valid on purchases made in J.Crew stores and at jcrew.com from November 27, 2013, 12:01am ET through December 1, 2013, 11:59pm ET. Offer not valid in the 769 Madison Avenue store, Ludlow Shops, Liquor Store, J.Crew Factory stores, at jcrewfactory.com or on phone orders. Offer cannot be applied to previous purchases or the purchase of gift cards and cannot be redeemed for cash or used in combination with any other offers. Offer not valid on wedding gowns, babies' merchandise, select Collection styles, select leather apparel, select men's footwear, select men's Ludlow suiting, select Wallace & Barnes apparel, select crewcuts outerwear, High Line merchandise or select third-party branded merchandise. In-store discount automatically taken at register. To redeem online, enter code HOLIDAY in the promo code box at checkout. Limit one promo code per order. Valid in the U.S. and Canada only. Terms of offer are subject to change.
I am loving this new promotion! J.Crew has offered in the past 25% off all merchandise, but not 30%. So considered me delightfully surprised!

What items are you most excited about and why? Which items are you surprised (or not surprised) to see? Which items did you hope would be included? Were you expecting a bigger roll-out today? Also, did you receive the latest catalog? :)

  1. Meh, I didn't see anything I really wanted although there were some cute shoes. I'm done with trinkets on sweaters although some of the fair isle ones were cute.

  3. OT, but 25% off site wide at Madewell (a few exclusions, including the Transport Tote, which I wanted). I picked up the Mira heels to check them out -- been eyeing them since they were released.

    1. I've been waiting for a promo code to order the Transport Tote too. I have a gift card that I've been itching to use, but I want that bag and I'm too stubborn to order without a discount.

  4. I like the tops w/bows and some of the other graphi items, i.e. thank you tee. But I have to ask, how many do I need? I've done a good job of not adding any capri pants for quite some time. The being picky trend continues for me.

  5. I'm feeling the Cate cami in sequin but no, nope, uh uh. I love the shape of that cami but there are 8 sequin tops in my closet, give or take :), and I don't think it's worth that price. I need to calm down with the shiny clothing. The metallic leather pencil skirt would probably look divine with the cami though....

  6. Me again :/. Is this for real? The Everly suede metallic-trim pumps in Retro Pink show up as 70 odd bucks?! I ordered and they came to around $50 with the code, so I also ordered for my equally 'Crew addicted sis, mom and aunt. Maybe they'll ship.

    9. They are now "sold out", so I'm sure they noticed and pulled it.

    10. Nina G, the size 10 rang up at $199. It was the only one to ring up at price. I received a call from a CS rep this evening cancelling a sweater that I had on that same order but he said nothing of the 4 Everlys. Hope we all get them.

Bridgetabcs, I took a half size larger than my normal JC size for the Everly. If it's too large, I'll put in silicon insoles. Better too large than too small, especially with pointed-toe heels.

    11. My order shipped...marked down everlys included

    12. D*ska--- Thx for the advice. I did go up to my "bigger" JC size because of the pointy toe. Agreed: I can work with too loose, just not too small! Just got notice that mine shipped too. $50!!!

  7. I am reposting this from yesterday: I just pulled the new gift guide from my cold and snowy mailbox and there is lots to like. Now this is like the old school jcrew catalog before they started calling it a style guide.
My picks: the navy/emerald houndstooth scarf
    Marled colorblock shoulder sweater
    Snow tweed dress
    Skier sweater
    Hankerchief fairisle sweater
    Vintage metallic triangle sweatshirt
    Foulard perfect shirt
Mixed stones necklace ( totally over the top though)
    Bella loafers
And the cubebot is going in the kid's stockings for sure!
Can't wait to see everyone's picks!

  8. I wishlisted a few things: velvet blouson dress, boy popover in bows, anchor button sweater in stripe, and the skier sweater. I added a few tees as well, but those will probably be picked up in store soon. Also, the wintress puffer is down to $175 with code, and I'm so tempted to pick it up.

  10. I ordered the bar-stripe tee in gold stripe. My store is out of my size in that one and I am not sure I want to brave the crowds this weekend just to get a tee. Called the VP number to have the shipping waived.

I couldn't believe that they screwed both the new Merci tee by mispelling the German word for Thanks (which as far as I know is Danke and not Danka unless it isn't supposed to be German but another language) AND most notably the Hello tee with the French Bonjour spelled as two words. Half of my friends and family are French so I can't possibly sport a tee with the word Bonjour mispelled (plus it is the second word, it isn't like I can tuck it in).
I "might" get the Cheers tee, I like the grey and no mistakes I am aware of.

    2. Danka means thank you in the local dialect of the 8th moon of Saturn.

I'm still puzzling over a Madewell dress which is described as having "vivid piping." The piping looks like the same color as the dress.

I ordered a few things to try on, but not with any great hopes.

    3. I agree Ema!
At least they should know how to write it right,if they make tees in foreign languages.
Danke is the right way to write Thanks in german and i like the tee, even though my family will cringe if they see how Thanks is written, lol.

  12. My take on the rollout - mixed.

    Like a lot, will buy:
    1. Metallic kitten heel sandals
    2. Metallic leather skirt
    3. Arrows sweater

Like but not in the budget:
    1. Gold bullion pea coat
    2. Viv flannel jeweled flats

    Like but not for me:
    1. Collection lime peacoat (if I lived in Florida...)
    2. white jeans (in December? See above)

    Huh?:
    1. Velvet blouson dress (maybe for my 81 y.o. mother)
    2. Snow tweed dress (if it looks that way on the skinny model...)
    3. Collection Moroccan sweater (yikes)
    4. Almost all the jewelry.

  13. Hi again -

For Macalister fans who wear an 8 or smaller (euro size 39 or smaller), this 30% off deal presents a great opportunity via Crewcuts. I bought another pair this morning for $54 after the discount in a gorgeous blue but there are more traditional brown ones available too. Not final sale, so returnable.

  14. I like a lot of the bathing suits. The shoes look great but I never purchase because I worry about comfort.

Although the favorite J.Crew catalog of the past for many is the Paris catalog, my favorite has always been the one for spring/summer that had a location shoot in Morocco. I keep thinking the interpretation of Morocco was better than a lot of what I've been seeing this fall/winter.

  15. OT: I'm thinking about buying some new jeans from Factory with the 50% off. How consistent are the Factory straight and narrow jeans with the retail Matchsticks?

  16. Purposely my husband and I are never in the city or even in civilization Thanksgiving/Black Friday weekend, (and tech shopping is banned too) so I think I'll stop in the store today and look around. I've had my eye on the Fanned Leaf necklace because it looks like bakelite, so I might pick that up. Want to touch some sweaters too. If they don't pass the touch test, they don't come home with me. Have a wonderful holiday weekend everyone!

  17. This is a really disappointing rollout in my opinion. Where are all the beautiful blazers and jackets that J.Crew used to do so well like the Bella, Maggie, etc? What about the pretty dresses in longer lengths? I am also really tired of seeing embellished everything, and would much prefer to see some understated, classic pieces that won't look dated in another year or two. Also, didn't someone mention earlier this week that this is the Holiday rollout for this year? If so, what a bummer...

    1. Agreed that the jacket selection has been lacking for a while. My closet is full of JC jackets from a few years ago but haven't purchased a single one in recent memory.

    2. I'm with you, FFM. Nothing speaking to me at all.

      Delete
    3. ...and to your point: several of the more versatile and pretty dresses in recent roll-outs (twill flare, draped satin etc.) are virtually sold out.

      Delete
    4. Also no pencil skirts in pretty prints...just that weird neon glow stripe and the ugly marigold jacquard...and very few dressy camis/tops to wear out.

      Delete
    5. I like some of the embellishments for the holidays but I don't want to deal with the maintenance and price that comes with it. If a piece comes off you will probably have to kiss it goodbye or craft yourself a new one.

      Delete
    6. I really can't do the embellishments. My daughter is 8 months old and is very much in the pulling and grabbing stage (she's making me consider chopping my long hair). She would destroy an embellished anything in seconds. Also, I got so nostalgic for the great JC jackets of the past that I bought another Bella on EBay yesterday. For some reason, there are a lot of velvet Bellas for under $50 right now (I'm not selling any of them) if anyone has a craving.

  20. I like a few sweaters, like the Vintage Holiday Sweater and Skier Sweater, but just not sure how much wear I’d get out of these. I also like Boy Popover in bows, but popovers tend not to work on me.

Overall, I’m pretty underwhelmed with this rollout, especially since it is the holiday one. I was hoping for more of a wow factor with this one. I really wanted a nice coat, cozy loungewear/sleepwear, and maybe a scarf or two. But nothing really jumped out at me, especially in the coat department. And sorry, but what the heck is the Embroidered bib peasant top in suckered striped doing in this rollout? It scream spring/summer to me.

Anyways, hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and holiday weekend!!

  21. I think a few of the sweaters are okay, but I don't need/like any of the color offerings. The only thing I like is the cate sequin cami, but not for $425. What were they thinking with the chelsea glitter boots??
I placed my smallest t-giving/black friday order in recent history, just 2 lonely silk blouses from the sale section.

  22. I managed to buy only a couple of things from this rollout, the new ski sweater, reindeer sweater and the Red Tartan Popover. I would like to see the Bow Popover and bow sweatshirt in person. 23. I am laughing about the reindeer sweater... are they trying to be funny putting a rack on our racks? lol!!!

  25. I think JCrew has taken a turn for the weird. Or maybe they're just trying too hard. Why would I want a shirt that has "thank you" written all over it? Are we thanking JCrew for selling us the shirt? Or is it so we don't have to say it to people anymore- we can just point to our shirts. Everything is over-embellished and a lot of the tops look like pieces of different shirts that they just decided to throw together to make one shirt- Collection sequin-sleeved shirt in gingham- where is this girl going? Or maybe I'm just not fashion-forward enough to appreciate neon colored fair isle sweaters.

    1. I tried the double-breasted wool-cashmere coat (actually paid for overnight shipping) and back it goes. It is definitely oversized and I bought the smaller of my two sizes. 32. I went into the store today and nothing grabbed my attention at all, except maybe the graphic T's, but the material was so incredibly thin, they looked too cheap for the $45 they're selling them for. Huge disappointment. I might be breaking up w/JC! There's still a few things I'd like to catch, they're mainly the classics. It's like hanging onto the relationship b/c of the memories of better times.

  33. I'm reposting this from the reviews thread because I'm desperately seeking some advice:

I'd really appreciate some reviews of the Barbour Winter Durham Jacket, which I seem to recall a few people having. Importantly, is it listed in US or UK sizes? Because the Barbour website states that it has a generous fit (and indeed the measurements do seem very generous) but I remember someone mentioning that is runs small so that makes me thing it could be listed in UK sizes. The copy doesn't mention UK sizing but I don't trust it. Besides that, are the flap pockets comfortable to put your hands in? How warm is it? TIA!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I have the Barbour Winter Durham coat and I like it. For sizing, I went up a size because I like to gather the waist with the drawstrings, plus I like room to layer if I want. It doesn't feel quite as "waxed" as I've found the Beadnell to be, which I like. The blue is a very dark blue, it's great quality and it's longish. Since I got it for 25% off, I thought it was a good deal but the 30% is even better.

Last year they had the Hawkstone which I could have got on sale but didn't. Then I found it at Nordstrom, loved it and had to pay full price at $549. so I do regret not getting it last year.

I like the Beadnell too but I honestly prefer the Beadnell in Navy so haven't purchased.

      Delete
    2. Thanks so much Elizabeth! It sounds like exactly what I'm looking for, I'm just having a hard time pulling the trigger on such an investment.. I'm assuming it's in US sizes then and not UK?

  36. Thinking about ordering the Nora leopard calf hair ballet flat. With the discount, they come to about $140 down from $258. Can anyone comment on sizing? toe cleavage? comfort? Most of the reviews online are for the Viv flats. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I have had mine for a year or two. I take an 8 in the Cece, and that's what I ordered for the Nora. I could have gone down to a 7.5, though. It's a wider fit than other flats. It's fine with a gel sole insert at the toe. For reference, in non-JC shoes I'm a 7.5 to 8, and almost always an 8 in JC.

  37. Really only like the Vintage Holiday sweater and the Skier sweater from this rollout. Everything is mehhhh. 39. Thank you to all JCA members for their help in satisfying my J.Crew habit! I have been an active reader of the blog for awhile now but thought it'd be appropriate to chime in and ask for (more!) guidance, if you do not mind.

First, I am in love with the new collection Rylan blazer. I am particularly lusting after the purple tweed and really want to buy it...but even with the 30% promo, I am not sure I can take the plunge. Although, in all honestly, I'd probably need a 60% promo to bit the bullet!

I really like the 'thanks' tee. And I almost bought it but considering that my 'kiss kiss' tee still has the tags on...I should probably hold off.

Has anyone seen the jeweled cuff IRL? It is speaking to me! It is calling my name!

Lastly, I need the help of the community to reduce my anxiety. I recently went to a J.Crew store to drop off an item that was pre-returned. But to my surprise, I didn't get any paperwork for the item - I just got a nod, a thank you and my original packing slip. Should I be concerned about this?! I am so fearful that the J.Crew cops will be at my door one day soon, demanding the item! If anyone else has experience with pre-returned items, please share your wisdom!

    ReplyDelete

    1. Don't worry about the pre-return. That's how it happens!

    2. Thank you reb.shops for your confidence in the process. I don't understand how J. Crew would be able to monitor who drops off their returns and who doesn't, but I guess I will have to trust in the system and pray that my 'halo' is showing!

    4. Sorry..WHAT IS A PRE RETURN ? I have not heard this term before either.

    5. I bought something online and it was the incorrect item; so I called J.Crew and they credited me for the incorrect item immediately and told me I could drop off the item at a store or send it back to the head office (using the shipping label free of charge). At the time, this seemed so nice given their error, but after I dropped off the item, I just felt like the transaction was incomplete because I had no paperwork to show that I actually returned the item. I think the future, I might just send back the item using the shipping label - at least then, I have a tracking number to show proof that something was sent/received.

    6. I once ordered 3 pairs of the same tights but in different colors, but J Crew sent me 9 pairs of tights. I called J Crew and told them their error. Even though J Crew charged me only for 3 pairs of tights, I felt honesty was the best policy. Anyway, the CS rep said to just drop off the 6 pairs of tights at a local store. I did that and the SA just took them from me and didn't give me any paper work and I didn't sign anything. So yes, J Crew is a little odd with PRE RETURN items.

    9. I had the complete total opposite experience unfortunately. I called CS and was told I'd get an automatic refund immediately on a defective item and I could just drop the item off at the store any time. Guess what? Never got the refund, and called about 5 times and got treated rudely by one CS and promised by a "manager" that I would indeed get my credit which never happened. It was infuriating.

    10. Jruby18-

Sorry to hear about your experience! It's hit or miss with J Crew's 'policy'. The only thing consistent is that they are INCONSISTENT! UGH! But ppl still shop there so J Crew doesn't feel any need to improve.

  40. I like some of the sweaters, but any with the fabric blend that reminds me of dream fabric are no-nos. some are at least pure wool it seems but I don't need another wool sweater so I think I'll pass on them.

I'm disappointed in the blazers, dresses and longer skirts or lack of them. This is the first holiday rollout where my Wishlist is tiny.

  41. I wonder what part of the Collection Stripe Wool Popover (07176) is wool. The product details are Polyacrylic, polyamide, and nylon.

  42. OT, but I didn't know where to post this... Bloomburg Weekly Magazine has "Photoshopped " a picture of Prince William and Princess Kate to turn them into J Crew clad models for the cover of this week's issue.
    This is the link.

  44. There seems to be a lot of items added to the sale section. 1700 items for women. I was able to grab a popback I've been stalking from last year, the collection circle skirt in navy! It popped back during last month's crazy pop back palooza, but I didn't grab it fast enough. Little Thanksgiving treat for myself:)

  45. I picked up a few sale items this morning...another try for the tossed hearts boy shirt and also picked up the strawberry plaid boyshirt. I also ordered the merino fair isle sweater in the black/ivory combo and the black/grey colorblock merino turtleneck.

I am liking a lot of the sweaters, and they seem to be at more reasonable price points, some of which I can make work for work, but I agree, I miss the printed pencil skirts and I would love a navy wool no.2!

Oh, also, Ebates is at 10% today for J.Crew! Good through 12/1.

    Happy Thanksgiving everyone :)

  46. So this latest 30% off expires on Sunday. Does J Crew do anything different for Cyber Monday? Wondering if I should order my gifts now or wait till Monday.

  51. Hello JCAs! This is OT, but I wanted to mention for any JCAs that might be looking for the Peacock Print Emma Dress, that there are two of them on Ebay in size 2 right now at very reasonable prices. One is here for $24.95 Buy it Now, and the other here for $54.99 Buy It Now or Best Offer. You can see the dress here on Shopping with M and here on Dina Gideon.

(These are not my Ebay listings, btw).

  52. Also, there have been a lot of new Promo-Priced items added to the sale section over the past couple of days, as well as some new markdowns, too. I've compiled the new list and posted it here. You can see the list of already existing promo items & markdowns here. :)

  53. Review of the embroidered lace sweater (thin, itchy) & the stripe-lace silk blouse in this post. The silk wasn't for me, but I wish they had something else in that rust color.

In-Store Price Guide updated here. Look for 11/27 in red for the most current info. The good news is that many of the prices are the same in-store as online. Most are only $10 price diff, on average.

  54. It's nice to see some items on promo (like the fluted skirt in double crepe in baroque blue!) that can then have the additional 30% off applied. But honestly, I've been feeling the Factory and its prices more than JC recently. I've got a couple of Factory sweater reviews HERE in case anyone is interested.
