J.Crew Updates Website with New Arrivals!

"Thanks!" to many of you, who let us know that J.Crew had an update to its website (click here to view online).

There are some new arrivals for men (click here) & women (click here). {wahoo!} It looks like Crewcuts (click here) has been updated, as did the J.Crew Collection (click here).
The NOVEMBER catalog (click here to view) is now available to view. However, the latest DECEMBER catalog is not. (Check your mailbox as it is being sent via snail mail to customers!)

I am off to check out the new arrivals now! :)

What items are you most excited about and why? Which items are you surprised (or not surprised) to see? Which items did you hope would be included? Were you expecting a bigger roll-out today? Also, did you receive the latest catalog? :)

  1. Tried the GOSHOP promo with no luck, I did pick up a sweater at full price that I'm sure will cause me to kick myself later. I also grabbed some socks that were on sale but that's about it, the promo made them like $5 for each pair.

  2. Very poor form pulling the promo that was advertised through the 16th, J. Crew!

I am interested in the Cable Knit Pocket Sweater and the blahblah linen tee (linen in November though? wish this were just a jersey knit). I like the Berry Bouquet Top (but not at $228!). I'm sure I will like other things when I see them in person, but for now I am happy to be underwhelmed by this rollout. I'm not feeling inspired to buy anything at full price. Half of this stuff will be in the sale section in a month.

I'm looking for leather Darby loafers and they released some patent Darby loafers but I don't need patent. Come on J. Crew!

One thing I kind of love is the suede and shearling satchel. It looks like a pet you don't have to feed lol. I would not buy it, but I would definitely pick it up and carry it around if I saw it in the store!

    1. cate - Thought of you when I saw the patent Darbys. I love patent. Leather would be nice.

    2. Gigi, I saw the black and tan colors in the store. They look nice. Let's hope I don't cave. I still want leather, I don't dress up often enough for patent, and if I'm being dressy I have Janeys and Biella patent loafers already.

  3. The Collection stuff is kinda off the deep end for me (save the one clearly Proenza Schouler-inspired look). I do like the Collection Jeweled Jacquard Dress (08690), it is a beautiful festive frock!

From the normal assortment I like the look of the Silk Georgette Blouse (06924) a lot, just hope it's not quite as boxy in real life. Happy to see lots of knee-length dresses and skirts that are approaching the knee again.

  4. Even though most of the new arrivals were meh, I did get the Aran Craft Turtleneck sweater. I have a cheap acrylic version of this sweater and have been wearing it to death despite the awful fiber, so I know I will get a ton of wear out of a quality merino wool version. I literally can't remember the last time I bought something that wasn't on sale with an extra percent off. But this piece was remarkably well priced to begin with (as long as the quality is what I expect) - $108 for Canadians, less 25% with HELLOWORLD for Canada which brings it down a bit below the US price. I even ordered two sizes just in case it sells out by the time I get to try it, which thankfully free shipping and returns with the code made possible!

    1. I agree, I got that one too in the wee hours when the code still worked. I was chatting with Gigi and we both thought the price was a glitch because it seemed priced very low. Now I am a bit worried about quality/fit but thete wasn't anything else really callibg my name.

      Delete
    2. I agree the Aran Craft Turtleneck is a gorgeous sweater... is it actually all wool, from Ireland at that price? It is the one thing I could actually see myself buying. It has a perfect turtleneck, not too mock-neck or drapey-cowlneck. I'd love to see a review of it!

      Delete
    3. Yes, it seem strange. We were joking with Gigi that maybe it was supposed to be $900. I mean we don't even have dream for that price. I wouldn't be surprised if they rectify the price at some point so I would advice anyone who is interested in it to buy it now. Maybe the fit is going to be aweful but it is worth a try at that price. I will review it when it arrives (if it ships!)

      Delete
    4. I don't know. If I'm looking at their actual website, Aran Crafts has their prices set at around $100 (plus $35 for shipping). I'd order it too, but I am not a turtleneck person.

      Delete
    5. I feel like I have seen this brand at TJ Maxx and Marshalls. I'm going to try this sweater, though. At the $90 price point and returnable, it's definitely worth a try for me. I do not expect it to be luxurious but I am still in need of a rugged heavy sweater.

      Delete
    6. Now I *really* want to see the sweater. I have accepted that v-necks are the best on me, but I can't resist chunky ones like this.

      Delete
    7. Looking at the Aran Crafts website (thanks FriendlyFemme) just reminded me how ridiculously overpriced JC has become that we thought the price was a mistake, when in fact it's just very reasonable.

      Delete
    8. Ditto on the sweater Gigi and Ema! I saw it last night and thought it must be mis-marked and that the price would be adjusted this morning. I love a good chunky turtleneck sweater so I had to try it while the promo was still good... we'll see!!! :) Nothing else for me tho - which is ok for the wallet.

      Delete
    9. What's remarkable is that they didn't mark it up. I guess JCrew is bringing them new customers.
I spent quite some time looking for an Aran sweater recently and I didn't come across their website. For me it was just good timing.

      Delete
    10. I agree that the Aran Crafts turtleneck is beautiful, and very reasonably priced, too. I wonder if the color will be darker or lighter in person? Does anyone know how the sizing runs? Definitely looking forward to seeing reviews.

      Delete
    11. I have seen the Aran Crafts brand elsewhere among US retailers, too, maybe at TJ Maxx or Marshalls like Cate. And I think this price point is around what I've seen. It does look shockingly low compared to what we're used to from JCrew. $900 honestly doesn't surprise me anymore.

I like it but I wonder about the fit. This style tends to run very very boxy but maybe thats not true for a "JCrew" version. I hope it has the more tailored fit that I love about most JC sweaters.

      Delete
    12. I've seen them at TJMaxx as well - a couple of weeks ago I saw ivory and grey leather-button cardigans for $40, I think. The knit is very thick and warm but I found it to be too bulky in the arms and very boxy, kind of cocoon-y.

      Delete
    13. Mine just shipped. I saw on the invoice that it came down to $67 with the promo. For that price the fit has to be REALLY bad for me to return it. We are having really cold temps here in NYC and yesterday I was freezing in my cashmere tneck. I hope it is as warm and cozy as it looks. Honestly I could keep it even if I look like the yeti in it.

      Delete
    14. QVC has Aran Crafts sweaters as well for those interested. I’ve seen several before too at my local TJMaxx and they seem like good quality sweaters. I’m eager to hear the reviews…looks promising!

  5. i threw some things into my wish list but nothing i have to have this very moment. in fact, i even have a return in my car waiting to go back today.

i do like the collection festival berry tweed skirt (07848) but at $275, i'll wait. i even have a $50 rewards card and i'm not actually buying anything! i even walked out of factory yesterday empty handed!

i think i'm more PO'd they pulled the 25% promo. i have a few choice words for j.crew about that but none that i can publish here.

  6. GOSHOP was working in the middle of the night, my brain may not have been. Waiting for confirmations. I do remember being about to order the Donegal Cashmere something or other sweater until I saw the back zipper and read the copy about how it's meant to be worn frontwards AND backwards. Um, not for me. I still have returns to take care of from the last midnight madness. I liked a black tweed dress, but for some reason it was priced in HKD even though there was a little US flag at the top of the page.

    1. WFF - lol at your eye on copywriting. Worn frontwards and backwards? That's a good one.

      Delete
    2. I noticed that too and couldn't decide if it ruins the sweater for me or it is genius (I mean, if you can really wear it as a cardi). But in order to wear it normally you would probably need to un-zip it and I don't have a maid who can help me put on sweaters that zip in the back. It is already a miracle that I can put on clothes and get out of the door in the morning in time to get my daughter to school.

  7. I added a few things to my wishlist: the Minnie in medallion print, velvet metallic-trimmed Darbys, stripe painter tee with jeweled brooch, pearl twisted hammock bracelet, and cashmere buffalo check scarf.

I was hoping for more of a Holiday-like roll-out, but I suppose there's still December for that. I also wish the cable sweaters were anything but lambswool. The side-button sweater is also nice, but the fabric mix irritates me.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Do you all think this is the holiday rollout...because like everyone else...I'm not very impressed. If they do another release in December though...most people will have probably already bought gifts by then (depending on when it happens). I liked a few items but they either don't really fit my lifestyle or will look terrible quickly (cashmere) and I am not falling for the horrible quality at a high price again. I will say the two factory cashmere sweaters I have have held up much better than the $200+ ones from retail. In the sale section today there were quite a few items that said in the product description (enter product information here)...we ordered them just to see what shows up! Does anyone know when the next factory rollout happens?

  9. I absolutely love the buffalo plaid pea coat. From previous comments, I have a feeling that this will sell out fast and I should probably get it now - at full price, which I rarely do with J.Crew anymore. But it is super nice!!

The rest of the roll out - there is some good stuff, but nothing that blows my mind.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I think this is a very boring rollout. I love the new gray a line skirt, but at 24 inches it is too long for me. Nothing else is calling me...

I love J Crew, but I am having more luck with Boden right now.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I agree that it was shady of J Crew to pull an advertised promo early. I don't recall ever seeing this happen with another major retailer. Replacing a promo on full priced items with one on sale priced items in the middle of the game is not cool. I have a rewards card I was hoping to use this weekend on a few full priced items with the pulled promo but there is no way I am paying full price now. Bad move, J Crew. I have been a loyal J Crew customer for 20+ years. Don't dupe your loyal customers with false advertising.

    1. Totally agree!
I planned on getting a few things, but will not pay full price.

  12. I like some of the sweaters that have textural or inside-out yarn details (Merino Fair Isle Sweater, Handknit Fair Isle Sweater) -- I loved that in the Inside-Out Fair Isle Sweater from last year and from Factory this year, but that particular style wasn't for me. Many items seem very stylized and geared toward a certain cutting-edge stylistic crowd (with rarefied price points to match). In that way this rollout reminds me of Holiday 2010, along with its more muted colors with shots of orangish-red, lots of checks and tartans, and a nubby, log cabin aesthetic.

  13. I spoke to my online VPS yesterday about the Pinterest images and she said the promo was going thru the 16th-such a drag that they pulled it.
Last week I pre-ordered on promo and have already received the tux top coat and I love it. The tux blazer was returned in favor of the coat which will get a lot more wear. Nothing else really caught my eye-I'm cautious about sweaters filled with manmade fibers.
There will be a holiday collection and Style Guide at the end of November-certain to have more sparkle and gifting items.

    2. JulieStyles, would you mind commenting on the weight of the tuxedo coat? I live in WI and I'm looking for something warm and hope this will fit the bill - it's gorgeous!

    3. JulieStyles -- Ooh! Someone got the tux topcoat. It's beautiful online. It seems very you :)

    4. The coat is substantial. I'm not sure it would be heavy enough for WI, but might work with a scarf and gloves. It is knee length on me (5' 5") so it could be worth a try for you Lauren.

Thanks milljcrew and Gigi. I can't wait to wear it.

  14. No... just, no. There are two things I like enough to buy, on deep sale only, obviously. Otherwise, I am vascillating between horrified, bored, and appalled. I may actually be pretty much done with J.Crew. Actually, I have been for a while... it's been quite a while since I purchased anything (chocolate cosmos top being my first purchase in months). Now, I have been buying up tons of old school JC on eBay. That's where the good stuff is!

    ReplyDelete
  15. I'm (almost) speechless about this rollout. I have loved J Crew for a long time, but there is absolutely nothing that I have-to-have. There's nothing in this rollout that I would even want with a big discount. I agree with JCrew JD that much of the merchandise is boring or, um, OFF.

Where has my J Crew gone? I can't even identify or categorize the customer that they are pursuing (but I know it isn't me). I wish them well, but I really don't know where they are going.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Blah Blah Blah. Not impressed. As a matter of fact, many of my winter items from prior years are nicer and I'll keep to wearing those. I'm not a fan of the crazy mixed prints and the sweaters...:( I would love to see a few more prints or designs in the cardigans but nothing. Skirts --- Blah. Pants --- Blah. I was hoping for more RED in the pants but I only saw Red Cashmere at 228. No thank you.

Thank you J.Crew --- You helped me save a ton of money already and I haven't even begun to make my Christmas list.

    1. Shariyu - I agree! It's funny that they rolled out an appropriate tee shirt from Hugo Guiness that has graphics that read "blah blah blah blah blah blah blah…." Lol

  17. Not a thing that even piqued my interest, regardless of price. Usually I'm drawn to one or two items only to find they are collection and super expensive. This time not even those appealed. I will sit out this roll out, like the last one. The pricing is starting to shock me, to be honest. I can get very well made designer items on sale for about the same price as the J. Crew collection items. If I'm going to spend over $300 on a skirt, I want natural fibers, silk linings and styling that will allow me to wear it for many years. Honestly, if I can buy Calvin Klein or Stella McCartney on sale for the same price as a collection piece - and probably get free ship from NM or Nordstrom plus free returns - it makes sense to stay away from acrylic tweed polyester lined.

    1. Desert Flower, you nailed it. J. Crew has shuttled many customers to Factory with lots of great re-makes and wearable, lower-priced stuff. Retail these days is either boring repeats or trendy and overstyled. Price wise, retail is truly competing - intentionally - with real designer lines. Customers in that market know quality and construction detail very, very well.

Whatever happened to Mickey's strategy to minimize the promo activity? There are more promos than ever, to move the current Retail merch at prices that make sense and are reasonable for what you get.

      Delete
    2. Ruffles, you're right. Many of the comments (about the altered promo, the high prices/uncertain quality, and languishing sale section) made me wonder about the discussion a few weeks ago that JC customers are being "retrained" to buy full price. That only works if the stuff is worth buying.

There are a few items selling really well - 4 out of the 5 items that I loved from last month's rollout are sold out, even though they were expensive. But they were wearable and worthwhile items (silk twill flare dress, white flannel trousers, purple Rylan blazer etc.) that made me (and others too apparently) willing to pay full price. Lots of the stuff in the recent rollouts seem off-base to me. Too many dressy shorts. Too many crazy necklaces. Too many embellished capri's (some at $800!). Too many boxy, unflattering silhouettes. Too many ripped and stained jeans. Way too much bling in general.

This isn't about JC being too trendy (IMO) - this is about having a beautiful, aspirational aesthetic. That is sorely lacking at the moment.

    3. I feel like they keep missing the mark on a lot of pieces...it's like they're almost there but then they yank the steering wheel and end up in a ditch. Like those plaid Ettas - potentially a classic piece, great for Holiday and then they add that studded toe cap. The deep plaid ivy shirt's another one - I saw it in the B&M and the fabric is quite thick and would make a nice shirt jacket, but the pocket and bottom of the placket (why just that section?) look like they don't belong there. Most of the double-breasted jackets and coats just look strange, like they forgot two buttons at chest level. I do like the Sperry Shearwaters and lodge moccasins (but they have the same ones at Factory so I'll just get them there).

      Delete
    4. Those plaid Ettas could have been such a home run without the studs. You wonder what's up with the discussion among these people in the product design meetings ... "Yeah, great idea, now let's add STUDS!"

      Delete
    5. Agreed - a little restraint goes a long way. But that's not the J Crew mode right now. Everything has to have studs or jewels or sequins or glitter or... (what am I forgetting?)

      Delete
    6. I wouldn't buy them but I agree the shouldn't have added the studds to the Ettas, especially since the ALSO made plaid Darbies and ALSO studded them (saw them in store this past weekend, not sure if they are online). They could have given customers the choice between plaid studded loafers and classic pumps.

    7. Cousy, don't forget the exposed zippers!

  18. Hi everyone, just FYI if you call CS, they will honor the 25% off promotion. I ordered one full-price item that was not even over $100 and they took off 25% when I mentioned the GOSHOP code, no questions asked. Hope that helps some people!

  19. I was surprised this roll out was so boring. I went to a j crew warehouse sale last month and found some adorable "holiday-ish" sample sweaters I thought for sure would be in this roll out like one with a deer head and antlers in green, a v neck with paisley embroidery and the cutest fair isle ski type sweaters with two deer looking at each other (found one in blue/orange and one in green/blue, bought both but only keeping one....other is off to eBay because I don't need two!).
    Anyway, disappointing!

    ReplyDelete
  20. I gotta say I am a little sweater-ed out. I ordered the aran crafts turtleneck also but I will reserve my judgment until I received the sweater. Lately it just so happens that I am doing more return then keeping things in my order, they obviously all look awesome on the website until you actually see the item and tried them on, they are either ill-fitting, or the colors are off. Not to mention everything is truly overpriced with the quality we are getting and the average design.

Speaking of design, there are a few pieces I almost thought they accidentally misplaced from crewcuts, namely the tassel sweater and the llama sweater, I would be all over it if I’m 12 year old girl I suppose. Maybe I am just getting old…

Don’t even get me started on some of the collection pieces, $3000 for a coat!? Really JCREW? And they are not even fabulous!! Some of them are just hideous.

re: 25% promo, absolutely think they are shady to pull it early. I wonder though if we will see it making a comeback during Black Friday, I mean thanksgiving is in 2 weeks, there is a chance that they will offer some sort of full price promo again during the holiday time.

    ReplyDelete
  21. There are a few things on my wishlist including the black watch school boy (classic) and the star jewelry--something different and not too big. I do like the fair isle sweater in black which would work before, during and after the holidays. The jewel clutch is beautiful. I like that it is navy, but it doesn't really match my lifestyle not to mention my budget. The flower jewelry tray is very cute and would make a nice gift.
Disappointed in the skirt offerings, however. Pretty ho hum.
I agree with Couture. I am sure they are ramping up for after Thanksgiving/holiday promos.

  22. I do llike that Buffalo Check Pea Coat, but I definitely don't need any more coats! No new rollout purchases for me, but I did take advantage of the 40% off sale items to grab a few popbacks that I've been stalking - namely the silk Boy Shirt in Owl Print and the dot/stripe PJ's (which ended up being free with my rewards card). There are few things in life that I love more than a nice set of PJ's!

  25. I am very disappointed in the new roll out. nothing for me...not even jewellery or shoes !
J Crew was playing "factory price games" this morning. With a 40% off promo....I had a few items in mind. the prices were raised about $10-30 on some items. I know this for sure because I had written it down....this really irritates me...and those items will now languish longer it the large SALE area
because I will not buy them now...After fuming about it I realized I really don't need these items anyway...saving $$ with the roll out being uneventful and sale being a rip off .

    3. Freshening up your look doesn't always have to be about buying something new—"We might have a sweater on sale for six months, and we'll shoot it in six different ways for the catalogue, which comes out monthly. It's a challenge, but that's where the fun is. We're all about suggesting new ways to wear the clothes you have."

    7. FFM, I called and they happily applied it to a new arrival item. I can't believe the rep you talked to said they have a "right" to change their promos at anytime. How about treating your customers right by not going back on your word?! Plenty of times I've held off on buying something so I could think it over, knowing the promo wasn't going to end for a few days. Did you check with your VPS?

      Delete
    8. Kittywitty - congrats on getting the extra % off applied! It sounds as if the rep I spoke with was misinformed when it comes to still honoring the goshop promo. I am still contemplating my purchase, so I haven't contacted my VPS about applying the discount yet. I'm considering the aran crafts turtleneck, but may just wait to read reviews on it, and then order when the next % off comes along...probably next week. ;)

    9. I decided to give the chat feature another try for ordering the turtleneck and the rep placed the order for me and honored the 25% off GOSHOP promotion. I threw in a pair of socks to make the $100 minimum and he applied the 40% off STYLETIME to them, since they're on promo right now. As we've said many times before, the discount (or lack there of) all depends on the rep you get at the time, so it's always worth trying again if you do not get it the first time around. :)

  34. Sadly, I can't say that anything from this rollout is on my Wishlist. Usually there is for the holiday rollouts. Next online rollout is nov. 27 I'm told but I wonder if it will be better.

OT, ladies could someone help with sizing.. I'm trying to figure out my size in toothpick cords. I take a sz 28 in matchsticks (jeans and cords) and sz4 in the skinny utility chinos. Should I take 28 in toothpicks or size up one to a sz29? Help is appreciated as returns are a pain from Canada. Thx!

    1. I'm same size as you and I did size up to 29 for the toothpicks for more comfortable (yet still tight) fit.

    2. That has been my experience as well, sizing up provides a more comfortable fit.

  35. OT- I just received the Factory Sylvia wedges burgundy color in the mail. For people who were wondering, they were stamped as made in Italy and the box had them labeled as Martina wedges, not Sylvia. With the 30% off at Factory right now, i got them for approx 47.00. Totally worth it.

    2. I got those, too, and they are definitely regular J. Crew and not factory style. I am not keeping mine because they didn't make my heart go pitter-pat, but they are still a very good deal.

    3. Karen, do you know if they're leather lined and run a half size smaller as Martinas often do?

    4. These are leather lined. I do not own a pair of Martinas so I cannot compare but I wear a 6 1/2 in real life and in the J Crew Cece's. I ordered that in these and they fit a little snug so I ordered the 7's yesterday so i can compare. Also, these did not come in a factory box. They are in the normal jcrew box. Was surprised by that. Also stamped on the bottom and inside of shoe that they are made in Italy. Hope that helps. Good luck. (ps the color is gorgeous)

  36. OT: Not sure if anyone has shared this...but I was just watching Law & Order SVU, commercial comes on, I see a family wearing nice clothes, as I look closer I noticed their clothes looked familiar, to my surprise its a Master Card Holiday commercial featuring J. Crew! Mother, Father and kids all wearing J.Crew. The black tie part of the ad, the mom's head to toe look reminded me of Jenna.
    It's a cute ad.

  37. BTW, this roll-out - uninspiring. Not feeling the muted pastel looks for winter. It just didn't grab me as with past holiday roll-outs and style guides. Disappointing.

  38. I finally got to look over all the new arrivals and sadly, nothing really struck a chord with me. I was eager to see some of the new button downs, mainly the deep ivy plaid shirt, but I don’t like that pocket. I hope I’ll like some of the shirts better in person.

I was also hoping for more lounge wear…maybe something like the Saturday pants or such. I’m sorry, as comfortable as the cashmere pants seem, not a practical piece for me or affordable.

I was hoping for more holidayish pieces to buy,not only for me, but those on my shopping list. I do my shopping early, plus all my holiday work events start around this time…oh well!

  40. I just wanted to let everyone know, I spoke in a live chat with a JCrew rep tonight. I thought I would just ask about GOSHOP. Not expecting her to honor the promo for me, but she totally offered. Awesome! I had a bunch of items in my cart. Tons of cute sweaters, gloves, a parka, some cute button down boy shirts, soft skinny lounge pants. Never hurts to ask. She was so nice and even overnighted my order for free. :) Happy holidays.

  41. There are new promo-priced items and markdowns that were added to the sale section yesterday. I've listed them in this post, and also updated the list of already existing promo-priced items here. :)
