Shhh! J.Crew's Secret Sale on Cashmere

A big "thanks!" to GigiOfCa (in this post) who let us know this shopping secret:
A reminder that fp cashmere for women & men is on secret sale -- in-store -- thru this Mon, 9/7.
As GigiOfCa mentions, this sale is available in brick & mortar (B&M) stores only. There are no signs announcing this, but store associates should be able to confirm it. If they do not, feel free to ask them to ring it up to double check the sale price.

Also, if your cashmere item is not available (like your size is not there), you can get a store associate to honor the in-store secret sale price by using the red phone (or Blue Martini system).

Lastly, the teacher and student discount can be applied in conjunction with this promo. Yey!

What are your thoughts on J.Crew's secret sale? Did you hear about this sale at your local B&M location? Did you pick up any sweaters? If so, please share! :)

  1. Any idea how good of a sale it will be? I.e. better than the occasional offers for 20-30% off all items? Just wondering, as it's an hour and a half to my closest store and I would hate to drive all that way for 20% off when I have a coupon for that in front of me....

    1. I think Gigi mentioned that it was 25% off full-price cashmere only. There may be better deals to be had on-line with some of the styles on final sale/promo +30% off...

    2. imbachick - Audball is correct. It's for full price cashmere only. The 'global,' full price promos have been far and few between. The most recent ones have been random, even for the 25% cardholder promo. Not all cardholders got the one-time use code.

You might see if your local store will accept an order from you via phone. Some stores don't want to do this because they don't want to accept a credit card# over the phone, citing the inability to verify your identity. But you're not asking for a charge/send or charge/hold. They should be able to pull you up in the system, verify your name/shipping info & use a credit card you have listed on file to place your order online. They can also adjust the price for you & waive shipping. Hope you can get someone to help you if that's what you decide to do. If you get someone who is unwilling, try another store.

  2. Since my store doesn't carry cashmere I guess I won't be taking advantage of this promo. Not fair!

  3. I wish I'd seen this sooner! I was right next to a B&M today but didn't go in because I was running home to await a delivery, which has yet to arrive several hours later so I'm regretting my restraint and very curious as to what the promo was... I just ordered the collection cashmere polka dot sweater in poppy cabernet for $125.99 during the 30% off FS promo after having picked up the cabernet fuchsia color with the 25% off cardholder promo and falling in love with it, but since I paid $201 for the latter and just received it two days ago, I'm wondering if I would've done better buying it today in-store. I had a hard time rationalizing the price of the cabernet fuchsia even with the 25% off since I know JC cashmere pills, but it's so pretty and classic and the color combo really pops. I'm guessing (and hoping) the one I ordered on FS wouldn't have been any cheaper than $125.99...

Speaking of, anyone else have such a pet peeve about paying a huge differential for the same item in 2 different colors? I'm not criticizing JC because I understand that some colors are less popular than others and end up being reduced accordingly, it just bugs me when I knowingly do it ;)

    1. Dara & all JCA -- It's free to sign up for UPS My Choice. Be sure to modify your email alerts so you're notified that a shipment is on its way. Once your UPS tracking number shows up in their system, it will tell you the expected day of delivery and time window. You can change the delivery to Will Call to pick it up at your nearest UPS center (not UPS retail store). Or for $5 you can re-route it to another address. I think there's a 3rd option where you can request a different time window. I'm not sure as I've never used it. There may be a fee for that. I have everything put on Will Call and don't have to deal with my Mr. Grouchy Brown Shorts.

  4. i really enjoy the fact that certain colors are discounted more than others. the less popular (read: more wacky) colors are usually discounted first, and classic pieces in wacky colors is pretty much my style.

  5. I get tired of the "games" JCrew plays. A secret sale? What is that about? I get frustrated when I can't take advantage of offers - or my favorite color isn't on sale. Maybe it is smart retail on JCrew's part, but aren't they making enough money? When they manipulate prices to get a few extra bucks on a blue sweater instead of making me happy as a customer I want to be done with them.(OK - I'm probably not done with them, but I just wish they respected customers more.)

  6. I am finding this promo merry-go-round really frustrating this week.

Am I better off using my 25% off plus free shipping code ... or buying on sale w extra 30% and paying for shipping ... or making a special trip to the B&M for this mystery sale with different %'s off by color?

    C'mon J. Crew.

  7. I got an e-mail about it from the PS, but the security guard at the door also whispered it to me when I walked in. The sale goes on until Monday.

I already have the cashmere I wanted this fall, so nothing else for me.

  8. Rose, the security guard at the door whispering to you about a secret sale made my day. LOL!

    1. Oops-- I inadvertently deleted my previous comment: I was checking out the cashmere section when an associate came and told me about it. She even combined with the 20% off $250 off stylist promotion (yay!) so I stocked up on sweaters for basically half off! Go now!

  10. Some comments indicate a "new" code for 25% off with their j crew email of a deco necklace. My code was exactly the same code (which I did already use) and when I tried it again (before offering it to someone) it said on my check out page "this code was already used."

  11. Oh, I am so puzzled. There's a secret sale, there's a Stylist Promotion, there are more secret codes... Where did these people learn retailing? On line at a Very Secret Very Late-Nite Klub? Who do ya hafta know?
