Will you be taking advantage of this promo at J.Crew? Did you pick up an item or two? Please share! :)
This is an awesome promotion, but heads up that there are exclusions. The Barbour Beadnell Liberty print is excluded (I was going to try it, at the sale price).
ReplyDeleteCan we use student discounts with this promotion? Combined with the student discount this promo is VERY tempting! I'll be stopping by today!
ReplyDeleteGlad to finally see a FP promo. However, there just isn't anything I need or love in this rollout. (I would have bit on the tweed dress, but all the lovely JCA reviews have made it clear that it is a dud).
ReplyDeleteOf course the promo will be over before the new rollout. Hoping there is more to love there.
I've been waiting for this, but everything I want is now sold out or sold out in my size. Very disappointing. I am looking forward to the new rollout.
ReplyDeleteI would love to hear opinions on factory suiting vs. regular JC suiting. Is the quality just not there w/the factory suits? They are so much more reasonable. But I'd like them to hold up. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteJruby18, the factory suiting, IMO, is just as nice as regular J.Crew suiting. It is made of nice, fine wool. The only issue I have is that the skirts are usually a little shorter, but I'm tall, so that is probably not an issue for most! Sometimes the factory suit pants are even lined. The factory workday dress is on clearance at my local factory store and I was very tempted to buy it, but it was just a tad short on me. The factory foly dress is beautiful in person. The fabric is very fine.
ReplyDeleteAs far as the more novelty suiting type dresses (the leigh and the wool ruffle dress), the fabric on those usually contains more poly or other fibers, but for the price, they are still really nice. I have the wool ruffle collar dress and it is one of my favorite dresses!
Thanks so much!! Based on your recommendation, I ordered the blazer, pants and skirt (I'm not tall, lol!) - all 3 for about $140 total!! (w/free ship and NOT final sale). I don't wear suits often, but I do need one and I've been doing a big clothes clean-out and needed to replace the ones that no longer fit me. Thanks again for the review!
DeleteJruby18, that is such a deal for three suiting pieces. Fingers crossed that they work for you!
DeleteI am not buying anything with this promo... I am a clearance only shopper. But I hope that all of the JCAs who have been waiting for a full price promo can get what they want!
ReplyDeleteI am also really looking forward to the next rollout so I must stay strong and not buy anything until then!
Just got my vivid lime Everly's! Woo hoo!
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty much an online only girl (for everything) but I need an outfit for this weekend so I'm headed to the store and I'm thrilled to see this. Can I just tell them the promo code in the store or do I need some kind of paper coupon (or neither?)
ReplyDeleteOn a side note, I need the top half of an outfit for my class reunion this weekend. It's a casual affair, held in the side room of a bar. Jeans and boots cover the bottom half but if anyone has a suggestion for the top half, I'm all ears. I'd like to look great but not like I tried hard doing it.
Erin, what about a cute blouse (something like this or this) with a long cardigan over it? Are you wearing skinny jeans tucked into boots? One of my favorite outfits (I am almost wearing it today but I have on wedges instead of boots) is skinny jeans, boots, some type of woven top, or a tank if I want to be extra casual, and a long cardigan. It is always flattering and looks pulled together with little effort! You may even find the Nicky top in the sale section... last time I went to my b&m the sale section was full of cute tops. Good luck, I hope you find some goodies in store.
DeleteHey Erin, I have to tell you the sequin zigzag top is beautiful. I ordered @ full price then returned because seine sequins seemed to be missing but I loved the top. I got it on the 30%off promo
DeleteLast week for 69.99 & am so happy I did. I have the mint. Now you can get it for ~$75. Very much worth it @ this price! Hope this helps. Have fun!
Thanks for all those suggestions! I'll check them out for sure.
DeleteI realize this should really be in the "Style Me" post, but I thought I'd just update here with my experience last night. First of all, I should probably say that this is maybe my first time in a J. Crew (or any other) store in probably 18 months or more. I buy basically everything online. That might change after this trip. I found a lot of things I wouldn't have picked out otherwise. I worked with a very nice sales associate who was happy to look past the hideous outfit I showed up in (I didn't actually realize how horrible I looked at the end of the day until I got in front of a mirror. Whoops.) The first thing she noticed was that I was trying on all the wrong sizes. I'm not sure if J.Crew sizes have gotten bigger over the past several years (sadly, I don't think I've gotten smaller), but I usually buy larges in sweaters and I ended up taking home either mediums or smalls. I was shocked and boy did it make a difference.
DeleteAnyway, I ended up with the Schoolhouse (schoolboy?) blazer in houndstooth (I didn't see it on the website), which they had on a manequin with jeans and I loved it. I also picked up a V-neck dream sweater, the striped Tippi sweater (I was shocked as usually crewnecks are not very flattering on me but with the camel color on top, that one worked), a white shirt (you can't have too many) and a Jackie cardigan in peacock (I think it's actually called retro jade or something). As boring as it sounds, I think I'm going to wear the white shirt and the cardy with a big chunky necklace to the reunion along with jeans and boots. It's not exactly daring, but I think it looks pulled together and with the right "funky" jewelry I hope it works and doesn't make me look like a Catholic school breakout.
I was a little surprised at how little merchandise the store had. There were tons of things on the website I wanted to try and they didn't have them, including the top that Jcrew girl mentioned above and hte Nicky top J.Crew JD mentioned.
Thanks again for the help!
Hooray, finally! I don't have a ton on my wishlist right now, but there are a couple FP items I'll be ordering.
ReplyDeleteApparently I bit too soon while waiting for a FP promo which seemed like it would never arrive. Just emailed customer service requesting an adjustment on the sizeable order I placed two days ago; if they say no, back it all goes.
ReplyDeleteI know many have been waiting for a full price promo so hooray! I think the items I'm interested in will make it to sale with an extra 30% at some point so I'm going to wait and take my chances...
ReplyDeleteWoohoo! going to return some things to Jcrew today so I'll have to see about taking advantage :)
ReplyDeleteFYI - I received the following items which are going back unfortunately:
Jules in Italian Paisley: I am 5'4" and this is just too short for my comfort level. I LOVE the print and colors but it is definitely not a dress to be worn with heels or in a business environment. It is more like a long tunic length and would look good with leggings and I even tried it over skinny jeans with a belt. I may repurchase this if it goes on sale with a promo but at FP - not worth it in my book.
Everly t-strap pumps in silk foulard - These seem to be running a 1/2 size small in my opinion. I have several pairs of Mona pumps, which I sized up to an 8 from my normal 7.5, and I think I'll have to do the same with these. The footbed seems narrow and feels very tight on my foot. I have pretty narrow feet but in order for me to last more than an hour in these shoes, I'll have to size up. The print is beautiful in these and I can see myself wearing them with many different skirts and pants in my closet.
Sorry for the long post!
The online sale is lame, same stuff as the last 2 months. But SO excited that its in store also!! Im going as soon as the mall opens this morning.
ReplyDeletedon't think I'll bite on this sale even though it is highly-anticipated waiting for this sale for full priced items. Heading to the store next week and would like to try on a few coats. Hopefully there will be some good sales in store as well.
ReplyDeleteWonder if you have to buy $150 in store to get the 25% off. Although with the prices these days one item would put you over the total needed:).
ReplyDeleteYes, you do need to buy $150 :(
DeleteDoes anybody know when that new rollout of "mystery items" is supposed to take place? I'm glad we finally got the full-price promo but unfortunately there's nothing that I'm interested in, or think won't eventually go lower with an additional % off. I do think that maybe the suckered tartan perfect shirt I missed out on will be re-released (the old item page appears to have a new picture, and it looks like the same shirt is also here) so I may wait on that. Of course, always looking forward to seeing what JCA's get with these once-in-a-blue-moon promos!
ReplyDeleteI called customer service regarding the Hothouse dress (aqua floral print). The rep said it wouldn't be available until October 15th and is not available for pre-order. :(
DeleteDo these types of promotions (percentage off plus free ship) happen before roll-outs? Just trying to time the promotions for next time....
ReplyDeleteWe haven't seen a promo like this (that applies to full price items too) for a while around here... mostly the sales are 30% off sale items only.
DeleteI got a call at home about this promo! And passed on the info here. I think it's a great promo and I'll probably go check out what's in my local store. I haven't liked much of the recent rollout, but I also haven't been in a store in a month.....so I think I need to go check it out.
ReplyDeleteThis is a pretty good deal with free shipping added since there is no minimum for free ship on Canadian orders. I will take advantage of this one to pick up a couple of the cashmere LS tees. By the time these are marked down the colors I want are always gone so may as well get them now. Fall is here.
ReplyDeleteHi all! Do you think they'll apply the student discount on this? Thanks!!
ReplyDeletethey always do in store for me :D
DeleteI still have a box to open that arrived last week, so I'll hold off on this promotion for now. There should be some new arrivals online tomorrow, including the black and white silk boy shirt in heart throb.
ReplyDeleteThere are new promo-priced items today for both the women and men, so I've updated both lists.
*Women's list here.
*Men's list here.
Hi all! Does anyone know when the rewards cards will be mailed? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteOT: Garance Doré has a video featuring Jenna Lyons on her blog today. Click here to watch it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link - I really enjoyed watching the video. Garance Doré is my favourite big-name blogger, she has such a fresh and sincere style.
Deletetried to watch it but....Jenna sans bra ridiculous oversized glasses and Garnce's frayed sleeves of her blouse ( why did she hack tem off anyway) made me go..."what the hell "
DeleteCarolyn from Vancouver
I find it very interesting that this is the second 25% full price promo that J.Crew has sent out in the past month. But, I don't mind! It was a great birthday present for me this morning.
ReplyDeleteBut I purchased the Matchstick Cord in burnished terracotta with the last 25% off coupon and I might be going back for another pair, they are great for fall!
I picked up the Tippi cardigan in gray (my local store never received this color), the Tippi in heather burgundy, Factory two-pocket chambray shirt and Factory two-pocket silk shirt in alabaster. All were on my wish list of basics except maaaybe the burgundy Tippi, but it's so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteOh and anyone know why the large tortoise claw clip isn't online? I would have bought it with the 25%. I don't want to have to buy two just to get the 25%.
DeletePicked up the Sterling Skirt in black and the matchstick cords in navy. I think these kinds of promos are great for basics that might not make it to sale in my size. Yay!
ReplyDeleteBought a few Tees last week, did the online chat for price adjustment this morning. Going to the store to check if anything good to pick up tomorrow :)
ReplyDeleteDid they remove the hen sweater and silk shirt from the website? I was really considering them at the sale price, yet I am failing to find them at this point. Anyone?
ReplyDeleteI found the hen shirt by googling: http://www.jcrew.com/womens_category/shirtsandtops/blouses/PRDOVR~15568/15568.jsp
DeleteThanks so much!!! Greatly appreciated.
DeleteI'm headed in to see what they have. My local store had a lot marked down last week already and I'm going to layer my educator discount. I'm going to get some more sweaters and pants or skirts hopefully.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know whether the Collection Martha necklace ever goes on sale? I don't recall seeing it on sale, and this promo may make me bite. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThat necklace has been around forever and have never seen it on sale. Hopefully I am not wrong when I say this.
DeleteThanks, Rose! I think you're right -- I could wait to see if a lovely JCA would part with hers, but I think I may get it. It's expensive, but when I find myself daydreaming of outfits to wear it with, it's time to cave.
DeleteI've never seen the Collection Martha pieces, necklace and bracelet, go on sale either. I bought mine 2 years ago when they had a full price promo too. I have found them to be so versatile, so worth it! The cost per wear must be down to dollars now. This time around, I bought my mom a set for Christmas because she has been eyeing them too :)
Deletedoes everyone's store let them layer their student/ teacher discount on top of these sales?
ReplyDeleteI was told no today. In a past it's been usually the case, one or another. Some JCAs get lucky depending on a store though . Not me.:)
DeleteWhen there is a promo across the board - all items - they, in most cases, will not combine with education discount. That's how our store does it, and online never doubles them.
DeleteIf it is only the sale items with add'l off, they will combine.
If it is only sweaters, they will combine...etc. But when it's on all items, no combining. There are always exceptions somewhere though. GOod luck!
My local store let me layer the 25% with my 15% educator discount earlier today. Yay!
DeleteI asked abt this sale when i went in, the ps didnt knw abt it. I tried stuff on for an HOUR, at checkout he told me that by "in store" it just meant if you ordered something from in store. What?!?! One, i dnt think thats what it meant, two, he could have told me as soon as he found out instead of waiting for checkout. Mad.
ReplyDeleteI would have said, okay then, I am not buying any of this stuff here. Please place an order for me for all of these items with the 25% off/free ship.
DeleteThat's so wrong!!! Who let that guy man the cash register? I was just in a store and bought a whole load of stuff (more on that later), and got the 25% off. All the SAs were telling people and the store was packed (so word was out).
DeleteOr demand to speak to the manager next time. I don't think they'd want to lose a big sale over a clueless SA's mistake. I'd be furious.
DeleteUgh! I should have gotten madder. So update, i had picked $150 worth of clothes, he told me no sale (didnt even make a sad face or act sorry for me). I bought a couple things that were still a good deal but then decided that was stupid and went to another JC across town and returned them. At THAT store they said they were honoring the promo. I tried some full price skirts that didnt fit and was too exhausted to look through sale again. Left w/ nothing but now I know which store to shop.
DeleteIf anyone is going to the store, can you see if the green scarf w/navy or black pokadots is onsale? I'm curious what else went on sale today. :)
ReplyDeleteI was in 2 stores in Denver and didnt see it.
DeleteThe green/navy dot scarf was not on sale in Chicago this afternoon. Sometimes the markdowns take place Wednesday night so you never know. Maybe tomorrow?
DeleteThankfully I've been waiting so long for an FP promo that I'm officially over wanting the collection Jules dress in tuxedo foulard - a good sign I would've gotten bored with it quickly - but now it's been replaced on my wishlist by the Collection snake-print blouse and even after the 25% off I can't rationalize the price! If it were outerwear or a dress or even a cashmere sweater or pencil skirt I'd have completed checkout by now, but for a flimsy blouse that just so happen to be labeled "collection"? I think I may have to wait for sale and pray that other women feel the same as I do about paying the price it is now!
ReplyDeleteDespite everything I've read here, I still want to try the long sleeve tweed dress but my size is gone :( I'll stalk for a popback each morning until the promo ends but I'm not too hopeful.
Oh and I won't even get started on the Collection pants in tuxedo foulard I was talking about wanting last week - I ate my words the second I realized they're priced at $350!! A price point that high had honestly never even crossed my mind.
DeleteI may use this to get a Wintress Puffer coat. I have been wanting one since last year, and 25% off is a good savings. I hope it's as pretty as I anticipate it being. I want a down coat that's stylish...not always easy to find.
ReplyDeleteMeredith, I just ordered the Wintress puffer to replace an old one, and it arrives today so I'll try to review it this evening. If it is anywhere near as wonderful as my old one, and it appears to be identical from the photo, it is an excellent coat that I highly recommend. I'm in NYC where basically everyone's dressed in puffer coats all winter long and I still get compliments on the Wintress. It is very, very warm without being heavy or bulky, and the belt cinches in the waist to give it some definition so you don't walk around looking like a marshmallow. Curious if this year's version has thumb holes in the cuffs... I didn't think I'd use them at first but they were actually fantastic - between that and the fleece-lined pockets on my old coat, I rarely needed gloves!
DeleteI actually hesitated ordering it given that they change the styling a little bit each year and this year's looks exactly like my version, but after stalking an Alice & Olivia puffer from last year, receiving it and hating the styling IRL, I realized sometimes it's best to stick with what's tried and true.
I love my puffer (last year, green) !!
DeleteI love mine from last year as well. I got it at the tail end of the season for like $50!!!
DeleteThis was too good to pass up-- and not final sale for a nice change! I got the Downtown Field jacket and the Double Serge pencil skirt. Looking forward to it! BTW, Meredith-- the puffer coat is awesome. Seriously- I got one last year and wore it all the time.
ReplyDeleteI have been waiting for a FP promo so I can get a coat - Lady Day or Metro. Can someone comment on the durability of these? I know people were complaining that buttons were cracking and falling off (not cool, JCrew!) but others say they wear their coats for multiple seasons. A friend had a JC coat from 2004 or so that she said got totally bagged out and shapeless before winter was even over... Any thoughts would be much appreciated!
ReplyDeletemy Lady Day has taken a beating and still looks good. it regularly gets worn with a backpack, is stuffed under airplane seats, and suffers the hazards of New England winters (spilled coffee and muddy snow -- oops!) The double-cloth fabric is terrific because it's the warmth of wool without the pilling.
DeleteMy lady day coat is 3 or 4 years old. I don't wear it every day, but it still looks perfect. I think it looks new. I would definitely recommend it.
DeleteChiming in to agree with everyone else. My double cloth lady day is from 2008 and it still looks new.
DeleteLove the Lady Day. Have a white one from years ago that is in great shape and just got a black one last year. Fabulous coat. I get a ton of compliments on mine.
DeleteMy 2005 Lady Day coat still looks amazing! The lining wore through under the arms, so I had to have it repaired, but the exterior hardly shows any wear at all. J.Crew did this one right!
DeleteI love my Oasis Green Metro from last winter and it looks new.
DeleteThanks everyone, for the enabling... :) now to figure out size and color! Any tips? I'm 5'8" so not quite TALL, but I think I read the sleeves can be a bit short. And I'm a 12 in perfect shirts (broad shoulders) but 10 in my hacking jacket from last year.
DeleteI would go with a 12- I am often a size bigger in my jcrew wool coats. I have had 2 Lady days (first one I "grew out of") and 1 metro and love them all : ) -- Lady day is much more fitted and although I like the way it looks more I like the "freedom"/roominess of the metro.
DeleteAnnabello, I'd recommend a 12 Tall for you. I'm only 5'9 and definitely need the tall size in coats because of the sleeve length. The Lady Day also runs quite slim through the shoulders, which is why I'd recommend the 12. HTH!
DeleteYou guys are the best! Thanks!
DeleteI spent over $150 in the store yesterday afternoon, but my awesome favorite VPS(!) called this morning and said she'd adjusted my bill. She didn't know about the promo coming up today.
ReplyDeleteJust received an order where I used my 20% promo. Received the Majesty Peacoat...I absolutely love it! Ordered the tall size and it fit perfectly. I am 5"9 but I find coats are always too short in the arm.
ReplyDeleteAlso got the black patent Viv's , ordered both 9.5 and a 10 since I was unsure of my size...think I will stick with the 10 they are comfortable right out of the box and I don't think patent will stretch much...
Also ordered the Sweater comb for Cashmere based on another JCA's review. It is amazing...took the pills right off my cashmere cardigan. I find all my sweaters pill where my purse is. I have a shaver but I always worried it took too much of the sweater away...the comb is worth the money especially if you can add it to your promo order
I can't find the sweater comb on-line. Do you happen to know the item#? I'm so glad to hear it works well.
DeleteIt is 39237. You can find it at the bottom of the Sweater section.
DeleteLove my Lady Day coats. The outside lasts but I'm rough on the linings and have torn them.
ReplyDeleteIs the consensus that 25% off full price is the best we'll get? I seem to remember a 30% off once? but rare
Does anyone have any reviews/input on the Collection Cashmere Tee? Debating ordering one, but wondering about fit and quality (pilling, etc.) Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteThey are decent basics, but I won't pay more than $70 (for the long sleeve). I wore a brand new one last week and there was noticeable pilling under the arm. Nothing my sweater stone won't fix, but still annoying that it happened on the first wear, I wasn't moving around my arms a lot, just sitting at a desk all day!
DeleteAlso, don't let the "collection" moniker fool you. It is the exact same sweater as last year. They just slapped the collection tag on to try and squeeze out a few more $$ from their customers. :/
DeleteThis is such a great deal, and I'm glad to see it, but I have zero J.Crew on my list right now, so I must avoid distractions!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip - love J crew!! finally an international online store ;)
ReplyDeleteOT: Does it benefit my online PS if I order through him if I am placing an order online or is it ok to just order? Just wanted to make sure before I hit submit
ReplyDeleteTIA
simplydreaming - Yes, personal shoppers get credit/commission of some sort.
DeleteI am the Unknown who posted in the other thread about the code. I don't know why I show up as Unknown--I wish I were able to use a name! At any rate, I wanted to share my PA experience.
ReplyDeleteOn Monday, I got tired of waiting for the Navy Schoolboy to go on sale, and so bought it at Full Price, along with a tweed pencil skirt and some of the sale scarves.
Today I went back into the same store and asked about a PA. I was told that because this 25% thing is a "promotion" and not a "sale," the discount would not apply. And so I said (nicely!): "No problem. I'd like to return these items."
I was told by one of the managers that I could only buy the items back if I found them on the floor again, and that they would not resell the same items to me. Again I said: "No problem!" I was waffling on the skirt (which will need to be shortened). And I figured I could find the scarves and could certainly find the Schoolboy.
At this point, the sales associate realized he didnt' have enough cash in the register to give me my refund (I had paid in cash).
Then, another manager came over, heard my story again (nicely!) and decided to just give me the PA. So, some persistence and creativity pay off. I kept apologizing because I did feel bad--but then there was a line of women behind me with returns and I stopped feeling quite so bad.
I picked up a striped cashmere sweater--with the boatneck neck. I just love these sweaters and urge you to try them if you have not already. For some reason, the non stripe collection cashmere sweaters look flat on me, but with the stripes, the sweater comes alive.
Thanks to Gigi of California, I know that the striped cashmere is $149 online--in the stores it is still over $200. So, I was again and annoying and educated consumer and asked for the online price, which they honored.
I have now also crossed into Liberty Perfect Shirt territory--I swore I'd never buy one of these things. Such a gorgeous shirt, and so expensive. But I wanted one and don't know if they will go on sale in my size.
Finally--this is now probably something like 9 months of playing on your blog for me, Alexis, and learning from all of you. Thank you thank you thank you for the community effort. I hope everyone is having fun today.
In general, I find that JC's tops work for me in certain cuts. I liked the Schoolboys. The bottoms--the pants--are an utter disaster. One Sales Associate confessed as much that they cuts on pants are not working for many. I find the construction of shirts and tops variable--sometimes so flattering and well made. Other times--eek.
A final question--can anyone comment on the quality/fit of the Factory button downs versus the JC Perfect Fit shirts. I want a basic white and navy shirt and am trying to decide which to buy.
Thank you again, MarieM
Happy to hear the store finally offered to extend the promo to you (which they honestly should have adjusted for you since it is within the 7 day period).
DeleteAlso, could not agree more. This community is amazing. I learn so much from everyone. Although it hurts my wallet, my closet looks fabulous! :)
This community has saved me endless mistakes. Thank YOU Alexis for hosting!
DeleteI can't wear any of the capri pants. Darn it because the colours and fabrics are lovely . Carolyn from Vancouver
DeleteHi MarieM, re: factory vs retail perfect shirts, pay attention with the factory ones, as there are 2 styles, one with stretch, one without. Both fit TTS, similar to the retail version. The fabric is has the same weight/hand. The buttons are econo white plastic at the factory, while retail is (or should I say was since I haven't bought one lately) made of shell. One annoying thing about the factory shirt is that the tag is placed right in the collar, not on the shoulder yoke as in the retail version. A quick snip with scissors solve that problem. Also, if you need petite sizing like i do, the factory shirt is not ideal, but I make it work. HTH.
DeleteGlad u got the price adjustment. I have managed to get Jcrew liberty shirts on deep discount. Just cannot stomach the huge markup on them!
DeleteMarie M, I'm glad you saw that bateau price and the store matched. Congrats on your price adjustment. Kindness is a good thing. I recently mentioned that the current new batch of SAs don't seem to be...fluid...just yet. I think mgrs are going to be working hard in the next couple months, putting out fires, etc...
DeleteThanks everyone for responding--with advice, commiseration, etc! I'm so embarrassed by how long my original comment was, so I'll stop here. Happy hunting in the woods of JC. Marie
DeletePlease don't be embarrassed, it was a great comment. Especially the reminder to have fun! The hunt can be stressful at times and it's easy to lose sight of the fact that it should be a fun outlet. :)
DeleteCaille: Your welcome! :)
DeleteAnyone else confused by the sizing on the Jackie pullover? I took my usual XXS and can't help but think it runs quite small by JC standards. The armholes in particular are where I'm noticing a lot of bunching, even though they don't feel too tight. Debating whether to reorder an XS in the jazzy purple since the light walnut is sold out (had purchased both in XXS).
ReplyDeleteOn the plus side, my jazzy purple sweater arrived in the same box as the double serge pencil skirt in spicy gold, and while I didn't think I liked the spicy gold at first, it looks great with the purple sweater! I never would've thought to pair those items but they really do look great. Thanks to whoever packaged those items next to each other in my box!
Dara, I found the Jackie pullover to fit well in my usual sweater size of S, but it was a snug, fitted look. I figured it would work well under blazers for sure. I didn't want to try M because then it would clearly be too long on the arms. Purple & gold sound great together.
DeleteHey....has anyone ordered the Blackwatch Slim Trench Topper? I'm wondering where does the "slim" apply? Does it have really slim sleeves and shoulders? I'd love to hear from anyone who bought it!
ReplyDeleteCalled my store...which was pretty hilarious because I have almost complete laryngitis and I squeeked and croaked a couple questions about the Slim Trench Topper. "No, they don't have it. Yes, order up from my jacket size and by the way, it's a great time with this 25% promo and yes, if it's the wrong size they will honor the 25% on my reorder." So I'm going for it! I'm ordering a 10. I have the Navy Schoolboy jacket in an 8 and the linen one in a 10. so I think 10 would be good for a coat. Especially since it's called "slim".
ReplyDeleteHope it fits and looks cute on me!
I didn't need much. I ordered three cashmere sweaters last night and just received a pair of burgundy Bass Weejins (Madewell reminded me how much I love them). I'm set now.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteMy B&M is the concept store so I was able to use this promo (albeit WITHOUT the student/educator discount, they said they're not honoring it...) on new items including the bulldog sweater which is SO cute in person, however, equally as itchy as the hen sweater. I have a photo of it if anyone wants to see it in IRL but I don't really maintain my blog anymore so it's posted to my instagram (trestippy), or I'd be happy to email a photo to anyone as well. I also got a striped peplum tee and black and white printed toothpick jeans.
ReplyDeleteTippy, what type of print is on the toothpick jeans? Was black and white the only color? Were they available in-store or did you have to pre-order them? TIA!
DeleteHi! I posted a pic to my instagram or I can email it to you! The pants are kind of a geometric print in black and white only.
DeleteForgot to mention they also had that sequin polka dot tee. Very cute but runs similarly to the zig zag version and unlined and itchy as well. I didn't take any photos.
DeleteTippy could you please email me a photo of the bulldog sweater, does it run TTS? thank you mbr052000@yahoo.com
DeleteI took advantage of the promo and got the pearl grey Schoolboy. I went in for the navy one, but the grey one looked amazing in person so I couldn't pass it up. The SA's at the store I went to were awful though so I ordered it online since there was free shipping.
ReplyDeleteTippi, would you mind emailing me a picture of the dog sweater? If it's really cute, I'll order it and another cardigan or something else to get the discount. That will make me feel better about spending so much on a sweater. Jlvanwinkle27@gmail.com Thanks!

DeleteI could use some advice on the Snowcap Quilted Jacket. Would you recommend ordering my usual size or a size up? How much ease is there for layering? I thought I saw a review, but I'm still not sure what to do. thanks.
ReplyDeletemaryeb - Irl pics & review of the snowcap quilted in this post + links to 2 other blogger reviews. I tried on red & black. Don't size up, imo. Take your regular alpha jacket size.
DeleteTippy, Could you please send me a picture of the bulldog sweater I am very interested in seeing this cute sweater! Thanx so much! nen369@yahoo.com

DeleteCould someone please help me? Does anyone know if the mini Edie glitter purse for little girls, item 97911is on sale in stores? I am looking for the navy one for my dd for her birthday in 2 weeks and wasn't sure if it's cheaper in-store. Any help would be appreciated.
ReplyDeletesavvyshopper - I look at all the Crewcuts glitter purses and I haven't seen any on sale. Most recently I was in-store on Sun, 9/23. hth
DeleteThanks Gigi
DeleteHot damn! Gonna get me some love from 'crew.
ReplyDeleteI see a Ludlow blazer in a wool herringbone coming my way; and maybe a shirt too!
Love this promo.
Garance has a video about jenna lyons on her blog. it's pretty cute!

I bought four pair of heels I have been looking at in this sale. I got them before at 20% off and since the 25% off is a bigger discount, I am returning those bought earlier to B&M and buying them back online. I am planning not to wear them during the normal return period in case they go further on sale again within 60 days. It is cumbersome to do this buy/track/return process, but I like to make sure I have my sizes in case they do sell out before the sale hits. Anyone else is doing that?
ReplyDeleteI am not doing this, but it makes sense given the constant changes in pricing. It's a lot of work for you! On the other hand, it is one way to assure the best deal. I think some day the economy will improve, and we won't all be able to "game the system." All things come to an end. So you might as well get the best things you can now, with an eye toward keeping them in the future. MarieM
DeleteOT: there are a handful of new arrivals up on the site now.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Does anyone have any thoughts on whether the Viv Bow Flats will make an appearance again this Winter? I missed out last year and have been searching far and wide for a pair.
DeleteBig outerwear package arrived today. I was most excited to try the Excursion quilted vest in herringbone, and I blame myself for spontaneously purchasing it without examining the item detail more closely, but I actually expected this to be made of wool herringbone based on the name and my interpretation of the photos. Well, it's not. It's a silky polyester with a large herringbone print that screamed ugly to me when I opened the box (it's not ugly per se, but a long departure from what I was expecting). It does fit nicely and even in the unflattering lighting of my bathroom at work it looked pretty nice, so I guess my verdict will be made after I've tried pairing it with some outfits this evening.
ReplyDeleteThe snowcap quilted jacket... what to say about this. It's exactly what I was expecting. Fits TTS. I took my usual XXS and the fit is pretty great as I can layer under or over. I wouldn't call it an exciting piece, but it is practical. My only concern is about the warmth of it, and I haven't been able to get a good sense of it yet as I just tried it on quickly in the bathroom at work. Loon that I am, I will probably go home tonight, open all my windows, wear it for a few minutes and see what I think. Likely a keeper.
Haven't yet opened the Wintress puffer just because it's so big and I don't want to repackage it to take it home, so I'll review the sizing tonight.
Btw, I'm the first one in at work in the morning and my packages were waiting at my desk from yesterday after I left, in case anyone thinks it's strange that I was using the ladies room as my own personal JC dressing room (which it is) ;)
DeleteThey had new markdowns today since yesterday including a bunch of button-up shirts and lots of sweaters. I picked up the perfect shirt in mini gingham in fresh purple on sale for $44.99, the no. 2 pencil in heather acorn for the $98 promo, the tippi in crushed grape for $44.95, and the chili flake lipstick. The 25% off promo applied to everything including the lipstick but no %15 educator discount on top of that.
ReplyDeleteLove this promo!
ReplyDeleteJust got the Cece Tortise Flat, Classic Merino Long Cardigan, and Cafe Capri in Navy Tweed for $32 each. These were all on sale at the Providence, RI store - I used the 25% off $150 as well as the 15% student discount there. All the items are also returnable!
I went to Columbus circle store in NYC and they refused to take the Teacher's discount :( I'm returning my stuff :(
DeleteColumbus Circle is the worst store in Manhattan in my opinion! Great location and fantastic selection but their salespeople are far too often unfamiliar with store/company policies and, in my experience, they treat you as though you're trying to scam them when you ask them to honor any kind of special discount. The peak of my bad experiences was last year around Thanksgiving with what I assume was a member of their temporary holiday staff. I was buying tights at a time when there was an ongoing promo for something like 25% off all tights if you buy 2 or more pairs. Of course that store had the colors I wanted that the other NYC stores didn't, but I argued with the cashier for over half an hour and she had to ring my transaction 3 different times because she kept overcharging me for items and I kept having to correct her, then wait for manager approval to correct the item prices.
DeleteI bought a Liberty shirt yesterday online (the indian red one) but it was waitlisted until end of October so I located one in store and picked it up today. At the store they told me that the Liberty shirts are excluded from the promo but since I had proof that the 25% off applied online (my order email confirmation) they honored the price. I am happy but it is exhausting, I feel like it is easier to go through immigration than buy at Jcrew in terms of what you have to prove to get a discount!
ReplyDeleteI picked up the Saturday pant in heather coal & the boy shirt in red plaid. No thanks to GOOP, I can't find the stretch denim jacket or denim western shirt in my size :( They were both in stock before GP featured them, but I was waiting for a discount!
