Hopefully some of you JCAs are able to get some fabulous finds!
Will you be checking out the Sale section? Are there any items you are hoping to see or to get? Does your local B&M offer an additional percent off as well?
Same old. Same old. No good pop-backs to speak of either.
ReplyDeleteThere was an update to the sale section earlier this morning, but it was very small. I did notice that the product page for the Silk boy shirt in heart throb is now showing the Black and White version. It also happens to be showing as sold out now. (Click here to see it.) Perhaps it will be available for purchase this coming Thursday? Has anyone seen it in the B&M yet?
ReplyDeleteBtw, for those thinking about shopping the LOVEIT extra 30% off event, I have the promo-priced items lists (some of which have recently been marked down) for both the women and men on my blog here and here. :)
I have tried on and reviewed the Black and White Heart Throb shirt HERE.

ReplyDeleteThere is nothing that I am stalking right now except for one thing but it is a case of rebuying for a lower price so if it happens to popback I will reorder otherwise I think I will pass. I would order a few tees/tanks but not willing to pay the shipping. Happy shopping!
ReplyDeleteI am sticking by my "no final sale" rule. Too much money wasted in the past.
ReplyDeleteSame old merch... When will JC bite the bullet, offer 40 or even extra 50 off FS and clear this stuff out? Based on the large sale section at my b&m, they will only me getting more at the warehouse as stores ship things back.
ReplyDeleteNothing I need at the moment. I am curious about the black and white heart throb shirt Gigi mentioned above....
Oops, meant FFM, not Gigi :)
DeleteLike Desert Flower I am continuing to stick to my no final sale rule. Also not willing to pay shipping for the few promo priced items as there is nothing I truly need. Still so warm here--wearing tanks and shorts at least for another month most likely. So nice for Fabulous Florida Mommy to make the list though:) Does anyone remember when Final Sale went away last year. I assume it will be gone soon but at the latest for the Christmas season hopefully:)
ReplyDeleteHi Genny - I want to say mid-to-late October is when the switch to Fall Sale happens. It came back 2-3 days before Christmas.
DeleteThanks! A few more weeks of patiently waiting.....
DeleteAnyone know if this is going on in store too?
ReplyDeleteDid anyone notice that the Swiss Dot Tippi is back today in all sizes? Very strange...was on the fence the past few days about buying one at full price and it kept on showing up as sold out. Now it's back...true restock? Or some sort of pricing game?
ReplyDeleteThey are practically sold out in all of the southern California stores this past week when I decided I finally wanted to purchase. Had my b&m call around for it and finally found one. I think that it's just a really popular sweater.
DeleteThink I have the J. Crew promo figured out. Always after the free shipping promo, they always offer the extra 30% off sale items right after. I have a few things in my cart on the weekend. Contemplating contemplating.....
ReplyDeleteI made a purchase Friday & now today the items are extra 30% off, called CS this morning & they adjusted the prices & gave me a refund for the difference! Woo hoo! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing that! I bought a bunch over the weekend, too, and was just going to sulk about the 30%. It never occurred to me to call!
DeleteAnyone tried on the Superga polka dot sneakers? I am an 8 1/2 or 9, depending on the shoe (wide foot). Not sure which to order?
ReplyDeleteI'm usually an 8.5, but took an 8 in the mint supergas. I also take 8's in Chuck Taylor's - HTH!
DeleteThank you! I ordered the 8.5 just to be safe since it's final sale, but I probably would have been ok with the 8. Thanks again.
DeleteI ordered the Collection No. 2 Pencil Skirt in Floral Brocade. I am in the love camp as far as the print! And it didn't show as final sale anywhere during checkout, so yay.
ReplyDeleteRayna, the skirt is $59.99 in store, my PS ordered for me with additional 30% off at that price.
DeleteMarietta, thank you for the info! I don't have a PS and neither of the stores near me is carrying the skirt. Maybe I'm out of luck on this one?
DeleteYou should be able to call in the order from the store, just have one of the SA's verify the b&m price, and they should honor the $59.99 + additional 30% off, plus free shipping since you are calling it in from a store. Huge difference between online price and b&m, I wish the prices were more consistent between the two! Good luck!
DeleteFYI - I am usually a 2 or maybe [rarely] a 4 in skirts and I had to get that skirt in a size 6.
DeleteHi HoneyPie, thanks for the tip! I ordered one size up, so hopefully I am safe. How are you planning to wear your skirt?
DeleteMy Spider sense was tingling this morning that we would see this sale soon. Couldn't find any navy socks to wear; a quick log in and a few minutes later socks and a whole lot more. Gotta love the internet and on-line shopping.
ReplyDeleteOT: Has anyone seen the tweed dress in person? Any thoughts to share? Is it nice, is it soft, is it actually wool or is it cotton/poly blend like the description? Is it something that can be worn by professional women whose professionalism would be called into question if they wore the ultra-short offerings J.Crew has pushed as dresses the last few years?
ReplyDeleteI second that request for a review of the tweed dress Barbabelle. SAs at two stores in the DC area told me that they have not gotten it in stores yet. If anyone has ordered it online and can comment, I would really appreciate it, too. Thanks!
Delete(Barbabelle - this cracked me up because you are so right: "Is it something that can be worn by professional women whose professionalism would be called into question if they wore the ultra-short offerings J.Crew has pushed as dresses the last few years?" lol!)
I ordered it last week and got it on Friday. I think it should work for many women but unfortunately did not work for me. The fit is very similar to last year's clea dress, though it seemed a little snugger across the hips/stomach area. It was unfortunately shorter on me than I would have liked, but I am 5'9". It came about 2-3 inches above my knee. The silhouette would have just looked a lot better on me if it were knee-length. Also, the fabric is very nice, but it is wool, and while the body of the dress is lined the sleeves are not. Thus, they were itchy and uncomfortable on me. However if you are not super sensitive they should be okay. I.e. if you can tolerate the dream yarn it should be fine. That is too itchy on me. So overall, I think if you are about 5'6" or below and can tolerate wool on your skin, it may be a nice dress option for you.
DeleteOne other note---there's a lot more white than black in the fabric, so I think it would look best broken up with a black belt.
Thanks Cass - did it fit TTS??
DeleteI would say generally TTS, but if you are between sizes and have hips order up.
Delete@Cass, thanks for the excellent review. Boo to cheapening out on lining the arms of a wool garment. Reflective of the new j.crew, though. Sounds like a pass. Plus, I would have preferred more black to white color considering the season. Sounds like a pass. This is the first time in years I haven't ordered a single item from j.crew's fall offerings.
Delete@patmosjd - sometimes I wonder where they think we work...
Another review, in case anyone is considering it: I also ordered the rush hour dress and it was a total pass. Fabric very thin, much thinner than last year's nightwatch fabric (I thought it would be the same) and it has lots of silvery threads so it is super shiny. The other threads are red and blue, so the overall effect is a futuristic 4th of July fireworks dress. I think this will make it to big big markdown. On the positive side, the silhouette of the dress was nice--it had pockets and was long enough. Would like to see this silhouette in a nice super 120s wool as a suiting/work option.
DeleteThere is both the "too short" issue and the "low neckline" issue which I find more troubling because a dress with an appropriate hemline can still have a neckline which is too low. I could wear a cami but I am not sure a) lace edging adds to my professional appearance or b) whether I want to wear one under a lined dress. I can use scarves but still...do they ever "test drive" the dresses? On women with bustlines that might make a neckline fall differently than on a slender model? drives me nuts.
Delete@Barbabelle, still wondering where they think we work? see this post
DeleteThanks @Cass for your great review on the tweed dress! I may still try it, though I would prefer more black in the black/white mix, too.
Delete@Barbabelle - lol. I'm a lawyer and unlike Ally McBeal, I could never get away with the Crew's recent hemlines on their so-called work wear dresses.
LOL patmosjd, that's who they're dressing, it's Ally McBeal!
DeleteDaniBP - Thanks for your comment! I thought I may have dated myself with my Ally McBeal reference. lol!
DeleteNothing I want in FS. Boo.
ReplyDeleteI miss this time last year when we got a 20-30% off Full Price online promo every 2 weeks. My wallet doesn't, but I do.
Does anyone know if the schoolboy in modern red is marked down at all in stores? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThere is no 30 % off sale at my B&M. I called because I am waiting to get a pair of shoes that are on sale on line.
ReplyDeleteNothing of interest in FS for me.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Whitney. I'd love to see a % off online promo for full price items. I bought a lot more last year because these offers were sooooo tempting.
plain tissue t-shirts on final sale, but for some reason, supposedly not available until january 2013? what is up with that?
ReplyDeleteAm thinking about the Toni tassel loafers....not sure though. Will I hate them in a month?
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly what I'm wondering. I tried them on in the store and thought they were...cute. I would not have paid full price. It's not the quality, it's just that I'm not sure how much I'd wear them. So I have them in my cart just sitting. If they sold out, I would just shrug. Also, are they charging shipping for orders over $175.? I thought that was standard but the shipping keeps showing up.
DeleteI ordered them in the blush/burgundy colorway. They are not final sale, so I thought it was worth a shot.
Delete@Elizabeth, it is free shipping if the order totals $175 after coupon, before tax. At least the free shipping happened for me when I met those conditions. HTH!
Mehhhhhhhhh, I didn't see anything in the current inventory I *had* to have. Maybe there will be a refresh tonight or tomorrow...?
ReplyDeleteAnd why are marked prices not dropping more? All swimwear should be down to at least $19.99 for seaparates by now. Grrr. Merchandise should be put on a cycle whereby when it doesn't sell during one % off promo, the next time one hits, unsold items still hanging around DROP in price. Not stay the same.
Who's with me? lol!
I ordered a couple things and tried to email my PS as well. Do they take longer to respond on a first sale day?
ReplyDeleteI ordered the ludlow suiting in the Irish Linen. Here is for hoping it works. It is a very long suit jacket though. I called up and the center back was over 25 inches. Not sure if this will work or not. But it is not final sale so I can send it back if it doesnt.
ReplyDeleteNo - can't do it. Normally I'd probably buy a few tees and tanks since this is the ONLY time it's worth it to buy their crappy knits, but I just sent a vent to the contactus email address complaining about the holey t-shirts and swearing I was done wasting my money on disposable clothes. I bought a few t-shirts earlier this summer and every single one of them has developed a series of holes - despite the fact that I have been hand washing and hanging them all flat to dry (which is ridiculous in itself for a freaking t-shirt). I'm so frustrated!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, the response I got from the customer service rep was, send us the tees back and we'll refund you! I am tempted to send them a giant box of all the knits i've bought over the last year with holes in them and demand they figure out what they owe me! I'm sure I'd never get any response though, and will just have wasted more money - this time on shipping! :)
I've abandoned JC tees. I switched to Lands End tees and also Abercrombie in some cases. JC tees are a total waste of money.
DeleteIf anyone is in a shopping mood but can't or won't be able to use the Extra 30%, LE is still running their "40% off plus free shipping over $50" promo, I think through tomorrow. The code is on the website.
DeleteIt's 40% off one item, sorry.
DeleteUnknown: Really? They'll refund the holey tees? Then maybe I should send back a box too with pilly sweaters.
DeleteNothing for me (so far). I just ordered the snake print skirt and the tipped merino cardi last week with a coupon GetFresh kindly gave me).
ReplyDeleteWondering how long the 200+ swimsuits will languish in off-season final sale purgatory...
ReplyDeleteI ordered the Tippi in retro jade, perfect tanks (with the built-in bra) in white and gray, and the Toni loafters in champagne/burgundy.
ReplyDeleteI have been wanting a Tippi and I think the jade color will go with a lot of the colors I wear anyway--gray, denim, navy, purple. The rest I may return. I would have ordered the high-waisted skinny jeans, the denim western shirt, and the herringbone schoolboy blazer, but all of that was final sale and I couldn't take a chance on it.
If anyone is interested, here's a Jenna Lyons lookbook: http://nymag.com/thecut/2012/09/jenna-lyons-look-book.html#
ReplyDeleteMeh. BR is running a 40% off all full priced items from 5-8 PM tonight. That, plus their free shipping over $50 policy, means they'll be getting my money instead of JC today.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. Just placed my BR order - ordered a couple of the essential turtlenecks (45% Silk, 31% Cotton, 20% Nylon, 4% Lycra®) for about $35 each and the fab sloan ankle pants for about $55!
DeleteI just placed a BR order too. They get my cash with 40% off and free shipping.
DeleteCan a helpful JCA provide sizing advice for the Toni tassel loafers? Are they TTS or should I size up? I'm usually an 8 but sometimes 8.5 in JCrew shoes.
ReplyDeleteCan anyone comment on the fit of the Ankle Jeans in Huron Wash...are they a similar fit to the Matchstick?
ReplyDeleteTIA!
They are skinnier in the leg (almost one inch compared to my matchsticks) but the rise is more or less the same. All in all they are more body-hugging than the matchsticks, I would size one up depending on how fitted you want them and how comfortable you want to be. The huron wash is very soft though, not stiff at all and they might stretch a bit. I LOVE them and it is a good promo to try them without risks and for a good price.
DeleteThanks Ema!
DeleteWeird. The in-store prices on certain items are WAY better. I bought a Collection No. 2 brocade skirt in floral for $59.99 the other day and online it's $119.99?
ReplyDeleteJust received my order from the last 30% off promo. I absolutely love the Retro Jade Sterling Skirt. I never tried last years version but from reading reviews I think I like that this years version does not flair as much. As mentioned by others I think the sterling skirt is a bit more casual than the pencil skirts for my life style. I also received the Cashmere Isabel sweater in Tawny Ribbon, I was concerned about the colour however IRL it is amazing. It is a really nice brown that looks great paired with jeans and brown boots for fall, can't wait to wear it. I am surprised this has hung around on sale.
ReplyDeleteCaptain Crew,
ReplyDeleteI reviewed them yesterday on my blog. I found them TTS. If you want more info, take a visit:

Hope this helps!
WMM, thank you! I am heading over to your blog right now!
ReplyDeletei ordered the no. 2 pencil skirt in natural (white), size 0P (i also recently ordered the same skirt in golden burgundy - so pretty). i have been looking for a white skirt or pants for a little while so i was happy it was still available! and i would have bought more but i'm trying to reel in my online purchases for a bit!
ReplyDeleteAs a relatively new jcrew fan, maybe someone out there can answer a couple questions for me. Most importantly, the wording on their sale confuses me. It says that it is off final sale items, but it also works on "regular" sale items. Does this make those items final sale?? I'm asking because I need to try. Ot some of the tall sizes (Esp. The blazers) to see what size I need.
ReplyDeleteAlso, does anyone out there know if the tall size blazers/jackets have wider shoulders than the regular sizes?
Hi Radiant,
DeleteDo a mock check out with the code and see if the items come up as "Final Sale". If there's no notation, then the items can be returned. You can call CS for measurements on garments. HTH.
Yes radiant, tall sizes are slightly wider in the shoulders. But the difference depends on style and size. You could chat with a personal shopper online to get a better sense of what size is right for you. Also, final sale prices tend to end in .99 while promo priced (regular, temporary sale) end in .00 or .50.
DeleteThere are a few new promo-priced items for the women this morning and several for the men. I've updated both lists this morning. They can be accessed through the sidebar of my blog.
ReplyDeleteI got the pleated crepe skirt in cabernet....I've been dying for a skirt in that color. I tried on one last year at BR from their Mad Men collection but sadly it was too big in the waist. I'm so excited to get it especially since that color will be the hit color for fall! I am still waiting for the tweed pencil skirt and the python print skirt to get marked down a little bit more before I purchase those :)
ReplyDeleteFYI the python print skirt was 69.99 at my store over the weekend (Tyson's corner) didn't look at sizes but it may be worth a call to see if they would offer the 30 off?
DeleteLots of new markdowns today. The collection windowpane skirt is on final sale already! Didn't that come out a week ago!?
ReplyDelete
