Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SUMMER sale, or to see some new FALL arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  4. When I went to my UPS center today, the clerk said she is bracing herself for Friday's iPhone release. Drivers can't leave the phones; they must be signed for. So she thinks there will be a line. If you need to pick up it might take longer than usual.

  7. I will not go because I am waiting for a shipment where I will have a return (ordered two sizes) and the new collection is arriving to concept store on Monday. I posted a review of Nora ballet flats HERE and snowcap jacket and excursion vest HERE.

  8. Went to my local B&M yesterday evening & was told the 25% off sweaters promotion ends Tuesday. Lots of great deals in store, especially on accessories. Silk floral and leopard scarves are now $19.99; burgundy/pink dot scarf also reduced to $19.99. Lots of case jewelry reduced and tons of belts. My store does not get many handbags and no shoes, so I can't comment on that.

    1. Ok, I stopped in. Tried the new paisley jules just to see what size I'd need when it inevitably makes it to super sale. Can I just say, THANK YOU to whomever at J.Crew is responsible for adding a back zip to this dress? I tried on the silk navy/red/white striped one, and I couldn't understand why it was marked down to $49.99, until I tried to get it off. I nearly had a panic attack. The moron who decided that a non-stretch shift dress should be created without a zipper should be fired.

The paisley jules is pretty but it didn't wow me in person. Some said it ran small but I disagree. A 6 was good but I would try a 4 also if I ever get the time. A 6 is my normal size and what I'd need in all the other Jules' I've tried on. I think it just needs accessories... plain, the print was overwhelming.

  11. Nah, nothing for me. I'm still kicking myself bc I dropped the filigree embroidered beach dress the other day - could have had it for $41, arrgghh. So this morning I picked up an Essie polish, the Retro Jade Tippi and the Java tunic dress online. The sweater and dress did not show up as FS which is good, bc I'm not sure I will keep them. Then again, if I don't there goes $8.95 in shipping down the terlet.

    Happy Friday everyone!

  12. Stopped by the Galleria location last night. 25% off all sweaters, including the Tippis that were already $29.99 on sale, and then I used my student discount! Can't beat that, I got 3 tippis and another sale shirt for under $100. Lots of colored denim and Blythes on sale as well, not many dresses. Several colored Tillary purses, didn't see the prices.

    3. At my B&M (45th & Madison in NYC), all of the solid Tippis were marked $44.99 plus an additional 25% off. The one I bought rang up higher at the register ($59 and change) but they honored the ticketed price. The Heart Me Tippis were $29.99 before discount.

  14. Hi Ladies,

I'm new here, so I apologize if this question is in the wrong place. Has anyone handwashed a Tippi sweater? How did it work out? TIA for any tips!

    ReplyDelete

    1. I wash my Tippi's on the "hand wash" cycle on my front loader and then lay them flat to dry. Once dry, I press them with a low heat on my iron and they look perfect.

    2. Thanks, Liz! I was concerned about shrinking. Do you use a special detergent?

    3. I don't have a front loader, but wash mine on delicate in a mesh laundry bag in cold water with woolite, and lay them flat to dry. This has worked well for me.

  15. Just went to my B&M to return 2 items I'd repurchased at a lower price and, though there were no signs, I discovered at the register that all sale items were an additional 25% off! I had picked up from the sale rack a Heart Me Tippi marked $29.99 (came to $22.49) and a regular Tippi in the pool color for $44.99 ($33.74 after discount). What good deals! The pool Tippi was in my shopping cart for the longest time but I really wanted to see the color in person, and now I'm glad I waited!

    1. Nicole - The sweater promo is 25% off all sweaters in-store. Regular price & sale. The promo either ends Sunday or Tuesday, based on what JCAs have posted. The Tippis that I've seen on sale in-store are celestial blue, classic pink, kelly green & turquoise pool. They're marked $44.99. Some may have been marked $49.99. As Dara stated, some are still ringing up at higher prices so be sure to watch the little display pad on your side of the register.

The LOVEIT for 30% off all prices in red ends today, Friday.

  19. I saw a number of the zebra silk striped blouses marked down to $29.99--only very small sizes left, though. No. 2 snakeskin pencil skirts (small sizes, then a lone size 10) for $69.99. I saw a lone white bubble necklace so if you're looking for one, let me know your email address here and I'll give you the location--sorry, I was just there and don't want my local store inundated with dozens of calls. I saw a notice that stated jewelry out of the case was an additional 25% off (and the white bubble necklace was hanging at the register so I think you can get it for $75).

There was a tripe string pearl necklace with an orange crystal adornment (don't remember name), giraffe necklaces, and a blue/purple sparkle necklace also on sale (I don't think it's the cupcake one).

They're going to make me pay shipping when 2/3 of my order is supposed to be FS? Sorry not going to do it. I'm irked.

  26. I am only going to return many items that I got a couple of weeks ago (through sale promo from VPS). There is nothing on this sale that caught my eyes. I am, however, looking forward to more shoe sales such as Etta (non neon color) or Everly (also non neon color). I love the shoes this season as they are well wade and gorgeous. After a quick scan, it looks like all my sizes are still available on full price shoes. Hopefully, they will be there when sale hits (end of October may be?).

  28. I went to the 5th Avenue store yesterday. They had a few silk zebra tops and a few navy tweed jackets (big sizes) if you are looking for one (it was marked down to $49.99). Great selection of scarves for $19.99. Speaking of scarves, they had a honeycomb silk chiffon one (like the Collection blpuse), which is just gorgeous. It is pricey ($72) but I had to have it and there were only few left on the floor. If anyone is interested I can provide the style number (it doesn't come up on the website, I am not sure if it is sold out or store only).

Unfortunately the SA wouldn't apply the sweater promo to sale sweaters, but I did get my student discount and I wasn't in a mood to argue.

Tippi sizing is all over the place, though. I tried on 3 XS's in 2 colors and all three fit differently.

  36. Hey Ladies, OT: On JCrew's site, the side bar on the left that says SHOP BY CATEGORY, each category such as Sweater, Knits & Tees or Dresses-shows a model wearing something new that I have never seen before or was not part of the launch from a few weeks ago.

Pretty cute stuff like: Swiss Dot Blouse in green, a Sequin Black with white polka dot tee, a pretty zip up Coat in green, and on the Pants category features a model wearing an animal sweater! This time instead of a chicken, it's a Bulldog. :-). Under the Shoes category, shows model Jacqueline wearing Martina wedges in a suede mint...

The new stuff looks promising since its been bland the past few launches. Maybe the JC is saving some of the good stuff for November, in time for the holidays.

  39. Went to my B&M today and tried a few things on:
    - Nicki top in Orange: this was just fine, size 0 fit the way it normally does but did not bite because it wasn't all that exciting for me (JC always comes out with poly lined silk sleeveless tops with frills around the neckline). 34.99
    - Sandblast (?) silk top: tried the Navy in 00 and 2, not my size but seems like it would be shapeless in my normal 0. SO said I looked like an art student, as in, it looked like a paint smock. 34.99 or 39.99
    - Snow cat boy shirt: nice fit, really soft, but the print was too busy for me. 29.99
    - Jules dress in Silk Twill: terrible. Maybe this dress would be more suited for someone more well-endowed, but there were weird bugles in the chest area, as in, I didn't quite fill it out? I really wanted to like this, so it was quite a disappointment to me. 49.99
    - Sweater with peter pan collar: Tried on the navy and this was the worst sweater I'd ever tried on at JC! It was scratchy and the puffy shoulders just accentuated the extra winter insulation (read: fat) on my upper arms and shoulders. It was so so aweful I didn't even come out of the dressing room to show my SO.

Needless to say, nothing was bought, booo! I really wanted to take something home but was not impressed by the current selection.

  40. I went to theVancouver store last night. On sale, I purchased the snake skin pencil skirt and the navy tweed jacket (which was a total surprise to me as I thought it woud be boxy but it turned out to be very flattering). I purchased the navy pea coat at full price as well but after asking whether they would honour the 20% off promo and much discussion with the manager, they finally agreed to let me use it in-store. That was a nice surprise!

Then, after I had made that purchase, I asked about the price discrepancies between online and in-store pricing. I was told that the on-line division is a different company/business and if an item is selling well in-store they will not reduce the price but if it is not selling well online they will reduce the price. I pointed out that if there is a substantial price difference, most savy jcrew shoppers will have no qualms about ordering the item on-line to save money. Then they advised that they are prepared to match on-line sale pricing but can't apply the extra promotional pricing such as the extra 30% of Final Sale pricing. The upshot of this discussion is that I pointed out that the cashmere bateau neck sweater in stripe was significantly reduced in price on line to $176 (CDN) but was $268 (CDN) in store and that if they could match the online price and give me the 25% offered for the in-store sweater promotion, I would happily purchase the sweater in store rather than going home and ordering it online. They agreed to match the online price and give me the 25% off, so in the end I purchased the sweater for $132 (CDN). Tat made me a very happy Jcrew customer!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Wow, I take my hat off to you for convincing the sales associates to give you the discount! Good for you for scoring the cashmere sweater at that price. I have tried that in the past at the Toronto Yorkdale store, and have never had any luck.

    2. Hi... I have found the SA's at the Vancouver store to be very accomadating. I have met Eleni a VPS there and she has said she would honour U.S prices for me because I can ordered online and ship to a U.S address. I think J Crew has realized that with the opening of stores in Canada that we are not stupid... Now a dream come true would be if we could return online items to the Canadian store (BM) Carolyn from Vancouver

  41. OT question, has anyone signed up for Factory First? I'm curious about the Birthday offer they mention but I can't see where to sign up. There's a little blurb near the top of the Factory pages with the following:

JOIN FACTORY FIRST TO SCORE SPECIAL PERKS WHEN OUR NEW SITE LAUNCHES ON 10/11. *details

*Full benefits subject to creation of J.Crew Factory account. Free shipping valid on Internet orders placed through a registered account and shipped via regular shipping (3-6 business days). Birthday offer subject to account creation in advance of the first day of the month in which the birthday occurs. Terms of Factory First program subject to change without notice. Please note: these benefits won't start until our new site launches on October 11th.

They mention a new Factory site, perhaps it will be a totally separate entity from jcrew.com I'm leery of what the website changes will bring given J.Crew's lackluster history of technological "improvements", as anyone around for the great website upgrade of 2008 will recall.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Hi xoxo - the birthday discount is 20%. Click on that black "A New J.Crew Factory is coming..." box on the upper right side and it will take you to a page to enter your email.

Although, if this is anything like 2008 I think the Factory site will just implode on 10/11. Wishful thinking - maybe they'll use this smaller Factory site to test a wishlist function or customer reviews?
