Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SUMMER sale, or to see some new FALL arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. A reminder that fp cashmere for women & men is on secret sale -- in-store -- thru this Mon, 9/7.

    1. What?! I'm a card member and have no idea what secret sale is. Is the sale price displayed? How much is the discount?

      Delete
    2. hannah L - A secret sale is in the b&ms. There is no signage. I don't know who the SAs deem worthy of telling. I didn't hear it mentioned to anyone while I was in the store, maybe they were whispering it to customers. My VPS told me while I was there and another one that I work with in another store sent an email to me the other day. Many of us think these are silly. They're banking on their SAs getting the word out and I don't think the bulk of them carry out the message. Just put a sign up.

    3. How much is the discount? Is it a percentage?

  2. OT, but does anyone know if J. Crew is likely to do a promo on their boots? I don't remember from previous years. I know they have free shipping right now but I'd need a % off to make the Harper's fit the budget.

  3. Not likely (that's a first!) since I was there last night. The cashmere sale is on in Vancouver as well.

  4. The double buckle, wide leather belt is still fp only online, $29.99 in-store. There's also a hunter green color, retail only. This and other updates to the in-store price notes in this post.

  5. Does anyone know if the extra 30% is going on in store too? Wanted to know before I planned my day.

    1. Both stores I visited this week no longer running extra 30% off sale. However, I asked at the register and the manager said he'd honor the online discount. Very pleased with the customer service I received yesterday evening at my local B&M.

Tippi fans: the celestial blue and kelly green pullover Tippis are reduced to $49.99 in store. The kelly green is actually less online ($39.99). Snake Tippi is $59.99.

  6. I was in the Georgetown D.C. store and they were not doing the extra 30%. However, I asked and they were able to apply it to my purchase (although it made my purchase final sale). I got a No. 2 pencil skirt for $48.99 and the floral brocade skirt for $59.99.

  7. I called my store and asked if they had the tippi in my daughter's size, turquoise pool. It is on 'promo' online for 59.50. They had it and said they would match the online price, but they would not add the 30% since it didn't end in .99. OK, so I ordered it online, got the 30% off, my VPS credited my shipping, and I used shopathome.com for 6% off. And I didn't have to leave home, lol. The SA associate (must be new, and none of my fav SA's were working) seemed pretty peeved after she searched for it, then checked the sale section in the store to make sure it wasn't reduced there, and I said forget it when she said no to the 30%. Sorry!

  9. This is OT, but I need some advice. I ordered the Edie Attache in two tone because I saw it on promo plus the 30%. Unfortunately I thought both the Tan and Merlot were on promo but now it seems only the Tan. My question, do you think the Tan is too light in color to use during the winter months? To be honest that color works much better with colors of my winter coats. Thanks so much for your help ladies, truly appreciate it!!!

    1. I like tan as a contrast color in the winter months (since I usually wear almost all black, it stands out against my long black peacoat and trench, black pants). That's just my opinion though - HTH!

    2. I love a tan wool skirt with a navy or black blazer and thin cashmere pullover in navy or black as a top.

    3. I like wearing lighter or brighter colours in the winter. There is enough drab out there!

  10. I stopped by my local Crewlet yesterday...they had just put out their latest fall rollout...basically a rehash of Fall '11 retail. Most of last year's colors in the wool pencil skirts, skirts were 30% off. Nice selection of schoolboy jackets (addition of a nice royal purple color but the special was only $10 off so didn't bite this go around), Talitha blouses (solids and royal paisley), lots of garment dyed denim and factory tippis. Denim was 20 or 30% off (can't remember). The vintage cotton stripe shoulder-zip tee was back in factory version...all colors.

They had a factory version of the Winnie dress which looked nice but I didn't try on because I have the retail version (I see the factory website has it listed as the 'knit cap sleeve dress'). Jackie sweaters 20% off, jewelry 20% off.

That all being said...picked up two wool pencils in the vibrant flame and jazzy purple, so was pleased with that and had the 20% off coupon if you spend $125 so they were $50 each. Also bought the scatter dot Jackie. I should be done for a while...or so I say :)

  11. I don't think so. I'm enjoying NOT shopping for awhile. I'm not looking at the website or visiting the store. Not surprisingly I'm alot calmer. All the sales and price fluctuations on a daily basis make me nuts. I'm trying to shop only if and when I need something. It just makes my life easier.

  13. Can someone explain how to purchase a secret sale item? If I want to order something from the website do I just contact customer service?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Alison - The secret sales are in the b&m only. Personally, I've never tried to order a secret sale item thru online customer service. I would be surprised if they honor it via a phone call from you.

If you're in-store and they don't have your size in an item, the sa can order it for you thru the red phone and request the in-store promo to be applied. The current 'secret sale' is on full price cashmere for men & women thru this Mon. HTH

  14. Madewell sizing help needed! I bought a pair of the rail straight skinnies in white in a 26 which is my snug size in JCrew skinnies. They are so small! I love the pants but I can't even button them. I'd like to reorder but am not sure which size... 27? 28?? reading reviews here it sounds like they stretch out but i can't bring the zipper together!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I tried the rail straight skinnies from Madewell and I have had to size up one size.

Since the Madewell jeans are "Risk-Free Jeans: Free shipping and returns on all jeans, all the time," why not order a couple to see which ones fit you best? Even the ones ending in '.99' are not final sale, so they can be returned. HTH

    2. when I tried rail straight, 27 was giving me a major muffin top but 28 was sagging and too big overall, so I would say go with 27, it seemed to be a huge difference between sizes. I wear 27/4 in J.Crew and 27/28 in designer denim.

    3. I tried these recently and my regular size was too small. I will need at least one size up, maybe two, if I decide to try them again.

  17. Has anyone visited their B&M and saw IRL the Cafe Capri in Jade Jacquard? I am planning to purchase it, but with my limited $ and being a full time student, I can only afford to buy one item at a time - between the Jacquard Capri or the Etta Cap Toe Patent Pump.

Which do you think will sell quickly? I'm thinking with the Capri, it is offered in regular, petite and tall sizes (i can take both a 2 or a P2), so it might not sell out that fast, unlike the pumps, my size of 5 1/2 tendency to sell out. Feedback?

    Thanks in advance!

    Replies
    1. Hey JSR! I bought and RETURNED the Cafe Capri Jade Jacquard already...no bueno. What was appealing to me online was the fantastic metallic sheen, and they just looked so unique...in person, they are dull and have zero stretch. I wear a 0 comfortably in all J Crew bottoms and these were pinchy and tight, in the core, and I could tell I would be swimming in a 2 in the legs. Just not the quality I expected. To be honest, they had a very MATURE feel to them...like a fabulous grandma might wear them, IMO. Hard to explain. I also bought the etta cap toes and LOVE them. They are so comfortable, beautiful, and I've gotten tons of compliments!

      Delete
    2. Thanks for the feedback, Heather!
I was kind of bummed that I didn't buy the one from last fall's cheetah jacquard, the dark red-ish color or the colorful jacquard capri that sold out (worn with viv pumps from the catalog last Oct/Now 2011)..sometimes I am slow when it comes to liking items from current seasons, that by the time I take action, its sold out.

Anyway, that's funny that you said fabulous grandma..lol. It just looked amazing when I first saw it online during NY Fashion back in February. So when J.Crew released it last week, I was relieved to see that at $198 it was affordable for it being a collection piece. I was planning of dressing it down with the JC's western chambray shirt, not to make it look too fancy-ish.

Your review solidifies my decision. I think I might veer into buying the Etta patent pumps first. I saw and tried it on at the store, I know its a ridic, shocking highlighter marker color but its one of those shoes that is unique and a must have. I love how Jenna wore it at the CFDA awards with a navy jacket and stripe pants.

(praying) If JC does a full price % off promo, I might take a gamble on the pants to see for myself.

Who knows maybe there are more fabulous items to come this October's roll-out.

      Thanks again, Heather! :)

      Delete
    3. No problem! I too saw them during their Fashion Week debut and was struck by them....but after seeing them in person, I think the excellent lighting at the show was what brought out what is in reality very sparse metallic threading on the pants. I was shocked that they came in at $198 too, but I have a feeling they'll be on sale in October...that is what my VPS said as well. Good luck!

  18. No b&m visit for me, although I might hit the crewlet.
I got sucked into the 30off promo. Ordered the pepper tweed jacket, I've had my eye on it for awhile and since it was not FS and the price was down to $145 I decided to give it a shot. Also picked up a dodocase (also not FS) and the terra cotta purple printed scarf, which was FS but I loved my snake print scarf so much I decided I needed another.

    Happy shopping everyone!

  20. The rail straights are weird! I agree to size up just one size. Used to fit into my 28s, but they are so small now, so I got a 30, but really, a 29 would be perfect.

  34. Hi JCAs...are any of you familiar with the fit of the Ryder boot? I am interested in the shorter leather version. I wear a 7.5 in Monas and a 7 in their flats. I remember last year I ordered a pair of Booker boots on sale and I think they were too big at a 7.5, so I sent them back. Also, can anyone speak to the quality, irl look, etc? I appreciate any of your tips! Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I thought the size 8 fit me right in the Ryder, and I normally buy an 8 in boots. I like my boots roomy, though, so otherwise I guess I could have bought a 7.5. I have wide feet.

The Booker boots are a different leather than the Ryder boots. Booker are a smooth and thinner leather. Ryder are thicker, more rugged with almost (but not quite) a pebbled finish. The Bookers seem like you'd have to be careful with them; not so much with the Ryders.
