  1. I am in love with the Tippi cardigan. Wore one yesterday and today. They are perfect! J.Crew does merino very well, still.

  2. I agree that J.Crew is doing merino well. I love the Tippi crewneck sweaters; the wool is soft, the cut is perfect, and the selection of colors and prints is fabulous. The Tippis are about the only thing at J.Crew for which I'm willing to pay full price anymore.

  5. Totally agree about JC's merino. I have the Tippi sweater in multiple colors - such a perfect staple for work - and I'm in love with their merino cardigans in general though I've yet to try the Tippi cardigan. Two Christmas seasons ago, I had the crazy idea to visit every JC store in Manhattan because the merino v-neck cardis (then called Jenna's v-neck cardi) were on sale for around $30 after an additional percentage off and I decided I was going to hunt down my size in every color. (Psycho, right? I'm all too aware.) Anyway, I did indeed score every color except ivory and navy which weren't on sale so I bought those during an online promo. I'm actually wearing the ivory today and it still looks great! Let's cross our fingers that JC never, ever messes with their merino! Despite all that bargain hunting, I wouldn't hesitate to pay FP for a sweater I know will last for many seasons to come, especially given that quality seems to be dwindling with most retailers these days.

  7. I love JC merino turtlenecks! The are just a little itchy sometimes but not bad at all. Never pilling. Price is just so much easier to stomach than the cashmere. I wash them too in the washer (delicate, cold, woolite, airdry). With 3 kids and one on the way cashmere is becoming less and less doable for me!

  8. Was lurking on the site earlier today and saw the Cece flats in leather pop up in sale in new colors. I was thrilled to see 10.5 on sale in Tuscan grape, the 10.5 size is NEVER on sale! They were listed at 89.99, and I started a chat with a VPS, telling her how my VPS is out of the office and asking her if she would honor my student discount as it should be denoted on my account. She checked, it was, and she honored it without hassling me (this is not usually how these convos go). With all costs/taxes considered, the flats should be at my door early next week for $81. That's much better ($65 off) than the $146 I would pay with tax at FP. Still expensive, but the leather is soft and I'm hoping they hold up well, it's my first pair of JC flats. In the past I've found them all to be too tight/uncomfy but I've tried the Cece on before and it felt better, so my fingers are crossed! Yay for a good VPS chat session!

  10. Thanks for the giggle, J Crew.

I was looking at the python skirt, wondering how it could be styled (I'm on the fence about whether I like it), but was amused that the skirt is identified as being a "marigold" color, just like the LuLu Frost resin necklace that got lampooned a few weeks back.

I guess "marigold" is the color that JC is putting on all their items that are a bit, ahem, controversial.

  11. My Allie in aqua floral arrived and it so so pretty and fits perfectly! Even better, it was under $50. No idea why this was marked down so quickly, but it is lovely.

  12. I stopped by the Birmingham, AL store today to try to find a non-matching, yet still business formal suit. The SA who helped me was awesome and tirelessly brought me more clothes and sizes when things didn't look right. They only had 2 suiting jackets in the store, so another SA helped me look online for a jacket that would look better with my skirt. I had mentioned earlier that I had to have my outfit together by the end of next week, since I was leaving town next Saturday. The SA told the J.Crew rep on the phone to waive the shipping and to send it 3-day. The J.Crew rep, while talking to me to get all of my personal info, bumped it up to free overnight shipping!

What a great experience after having a truly horrible experience ordering shoes via red phone.

  13. I love the swiss dot dress in navy..I finally wore it out last night and it's the only strapless dress I've found that doesn't feel like it's going to slip off of me.
